Hey, I have another update! I just wanna say another thank you to my beta Wrighting'GIRL3000 who has been a great help. I hope everyone is keeping safe and staying at home so we can help all the key workers to do their jobs. Please don't forget to review and share your thoughts. Enjoy!
Steve rushed into Dr. Cho's office, he was trying to not get to hopeful but even he knew it wasn't working. He needed her back, in his eyes this procedure was Natasha's last hope of ever waking up. "Ahhh, Captain I see your here early, please follow me so we can get everything set up."
"Yes, of course," Steve replied as he followed her into a bright room, Natasha lay in the middle on a metal framed bed, next to her was a silver chair which Steve sat on as Dr. Cho motioned with her arm the other staff to bring a machine forward. He couldn't take is eyes off of Natasha, He feared if he did she would disappear.
"Steve what I'm going to do is inject a tube into you this will be connected to the machine and Natasha, as her blood pumps into the machine it will remove the poison. Natasha is to weak and hasn't enough blood for her heart to handle the pressure therefore you will be quite literally be doing it for her. Is that okay?"
"Yes, I just wanna know, what are her chances of this working?"
"Honestly I'd say 50/50. I've never done this procedure before so I can't say for sure however this is her best chance."
"Ok then, I'm ready." Steve confidently voiced as she put the tube into his wrist."
"You will feel weak afterwards but that's to be expected. Now all we do is wait. Press this button if anything changes, I will have Jarvis monitoring her vitals as well."
"Good to know, thank you Doctor."
"Don't thank me yet sir." And with that she and her team scattered from the room. Only the sound of the machine could be heard beeping. Steve sat quietly holding Natasha's hand as he drew patterns on her palm with his fingers. After half an hour of waiting he asked " Jarvis, is the machine working?"
"Yes, Captain it appears to be removing the poison but she has shown no signs of waking up yet."
"Thats good." He murmured under his breath. "Nat please wake up, come back to me. Everyone's lost without you, I'm lost without you. I'm so sorry I left, if had known it was all a lie I would have stayed and told you the truth. You see Nat the truth is I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. You are my universe. I love yo-" "Steve," she interrupted him in a raspy voice, her throat was dry and sore.
"Nat? Nat I'm right here. Jarvis alert Dr. Cho immediately!" Natasha started to struggle clearly uncomfortable and in pain.
"Shhh Shhh it's okay Nat, don't move the doctors on her way." He reassured her whilst stroking stray hairs from her face, he smiled for the first time in days as he got lost in her Peachtree eyes. Dr. Cho arrived moments later. "Ahhh the patients awake, Steve I need to you to leave whilst I check her vitals." Nodding he left the room glancing I've his shoulder once move to see her face.
Outside he found the whole team trying to get a glimpse whilst excitedly chattering away. As he entered the room they all started asking a flurry of questions." Is she awake? Is she ok? What did she say?"
"Woah Woah hold on everyone one question at a time!"
Tony- "Jarvis says she awake, did she say anything?"
"She said Steve but that's it."
Clint- "Is she okay?"
"Honestly I don't know, Dr. Cho is with her right now checking her vitals."
Everyone sat down in the waiting chair except Tony who leaned on the wall and Steve who was pacing up and down the corridor. After about 45 mins Dr. Cho returned.
"Natasha is awake and talking however her body still need to recover so she needs to rest. You all must go in in small groups or one by one for e few hours. Someone may stay with her tonight but you must not excite her. Am I clear?" They all either replied or nodded as she exited the corridor.
Tony- "Whose going first?"
Clint- "I would like to!"
Wanda added "So would I!"
Tony- "okay how about me, Clint and Wanda?"
Steve- "okay that's settled."
Clint, Wanda and Tony cautiously entered the room to see Natasha sitting up drinking some water to soothe her hoarse throat. "Hey tash," Clint murmured glad to see her awake, she replied with a weak smile.
Wanda -" Do you remember anything?"
Natasha -" Yes vaguely though. It's a bit fuzzy."
Tony -"The doc mentioned that's to be expected."
Clint - " We all thought you were never gonna wake up again. I'm sorry we gave up hope so easily."
Wanda- " Steve never gave up, he refused to believe we had lost you for good."
Natasha- "Steve?"
Tony - "Yes capsicle pretty much saved your life."
Clint- "We've been looking for the bastard nearly killed you Tash but we haven't got very far"
Wanda - "Nat do you remember who he is?"
Natasha - "Alexei Shovostakov, The Red Guardian."
Tony - " I will start searching for that asshole right away."
Natasha groaned her mouth still dry " You won't find him."
Clint- "We will try anyway."
Wanda carefully hugged her whilst saying, " The rest of the team is waiting to see you so we will leave but I'm so happy your back Tasha. We really missed you."
Clint and Tony nodded their heads in agreement and the trio left the room.
One by one each avenger went in until all that was left was Sam and Steve. Sam walked into the room smiling when he saw Natasha sitting in the bed.
"Hey Romanoff."
"Hey"
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay,"
"Good, good." He replied shifting on his feet he'd be lying if he said she didn't make him nervous. Sam liked Natasha but he never knew quite what to say to her.
"Umm Sam?"
"Yes?"
"Is Steve coming in?"
"Oh yeah he's outside I think there's a lot you both need to discuss so he decided to be last."
"Okay then"
"I hope you heal quickly it's been a bit dull without you. There's no one tell Tony to shut up!"
Natasha laughed at that. "Sam you will tell me the truth right?
"Sure what do you wanna know?"
"How was it... when I was in a coma?"
"Honestly. It was hell. When you got shot everyone was just in shock, like we couldn't quite grasp the situation. Then Maria called Steve and no one really knew that everything was a lie between you and T'Challa so Clint and everyone lost it. I think they put all their emotions into being angry at Steve and not on the actual criminal. Steve was calm of course, you know how he is but I do think he still blames himself even though it wasn't his fault."
" Wow thanks Sam, I needed to know that."
"Your welcome, I gotta go but I hope you will be feeling better soon."
"Thanks Sam." Steve saw Sam leave the room and stood outside for a couple of minutes before walking in. As he slowly approached her Natasha looked up and smiled. "Rogers," she said, his name slipping from her tongue easily.
"Hey Nat."
