School was done for the year and I was now back at home for the summer. Normally I would love being at home but this summer was different. My heart was missing someone, and believe it or not it was my previous worst enemy. Harry Potter. Things had changed the last few months of school term, not only had Harry and I become pretty close but we had both excepted that we were kind of perfect for each other. We hadn't closed the gap yet, I was waiting for Harry to make the first move. I hoped it would happen soon, he hadn't officially asked me out in ages. I figured that he might be nervous, he often got that way.
It was Sunday night and the second weekend of the Holidays when I heard a knocking on my window. I turned around to see my owl tapping it's beak on the glass. I ran over to the window and let my owl in. Tied to her feet was a letter, I extracted it and then read the back to see who it was from. My heart jumped, it was from Harry.
Dear Ginny,
How are you? My holidays are going great, yesterday Hermione took Dad, Sirius and I to muggle London. She's staying with us for the summer you see. I'm really missing you the last few months of last term were really memorable. I can't wait to get our Hogwarts letters, I wonder who will be heads and Quidditch captain. I bet it will be you, you are the perfect student. I hope to see you soon!
From Harry AKA your Prat.
P.S Have you seen my quidditch jumper? I haven't seen it since we went to Hogsmeade. I must have left it in the common room.
I chuckled as I read his letter. He was so sweet. The truth about his quidditch jumper was that I kept it. He gave it to me to wear when we went to Hogsmeade and he never asked for it back. His problem, plus he wasn't getting it back anytime soon. His scent was so comforting, so beautiful. I had worn it every night since Hogsmeade. You could definitely say I was in love, but do not tell Ron that or anyone for that matter. I decided to reply, I remembered what happened last time when I didn't.
Dear Harry,
My holidays are going alright, they're a bit boring without you and Hermione. Ron just sticks to his room, I think he's talking with Hermione you might want to check that though. Fred and George are too busy at the shop so it's pretty much just me and my bedroom wall. I miss you too, as for your quidditch jumper I have no idea what happened to that. You know, you and Mione should come over one day. We could play some quidditch and go for a swim in the lake. Send reply with an answer, hope to see you soon!
Ginny
I attached the letter to my owl and sent her flying out the window again back to Harry.
Harry's POV
"Dad! Sirius! She replied!" I yelled down the stairs. Seconds later they came bounding up the stairs with big grins on their faces.
"What does it say, what does it day?" Sirius asked excitedly. I read the letter aloud and by the end of it all three of us were jumping up and down like three year olds.
"What should I say in reply? That we can come over or..."
"No, say that you can't come over."
"But Dad, she's asking to play quidditch and go for a swim, in swimming suits. Connect the dots."
"Yeah I have connected the dots son, but listen. Just think, she seems to be missing you quite a lot. If you hold out on you seeing her until the start of term she'll want you even more than she does now."
"Yeah Dad, I understand what you're getting at, the thing is I don't think I can live without seeing her until then."
"Well make yourself live with it then. You do want her don't you."
"Fine I'll just do it. What about my 17th birthday though?"
"Maybe. But just write that you can't come for now and we'll work out your birthday later." I went into my room and grabbed a simple quill from my desk. I then jotted my reply down.
Hey Gin,
I'm sorry but my Dad won't let us come over, he says summer's for 'family time'. I really wish I could, it sounded great, I'm kind of sick playing quidditch with Hermione. She can't even fly let alone catch a ball. No offence Hermione if you ever do read this letter, but you really are terrible. Our birthday's are coming up so maybe we can see each other then.
Harry xoxo
I folded the letter and put it in an envelope. I then attached it to Ginny's owl and sent it off into the night. Oh how I was going to be annoyed with myself.
Ginny's POV
It was twelve o'clock and I was still up waiting anxiously for Harry's reply. I then heard that familiar tap on the window, and crossed the bed to heave it open. In flew my owl with the expected letter. I threw the envelope on the floor and read the letter rapidly.
I was rather disappointed by the end, Harry couldn't come over and he had suggested seeing each other for each others birthday. Sadly mum had conveniently booked a trip to Romania to visit Charlie from the 30th of July to the 12th of August. Looked like I wouldn't be seeing him until we went back to school.
TIME SKIP: 20th August
Things had been pretty smooth sailing very the past few weeks. Although I was really missing Harry. We had been exchanging letters everyday since I recieved that first one, it didn't help though. I hadn't seen his messy tuff of raven hair in ages.
I headed down to breakfast as it was already 10 o'clock in the morning. To my surprise on the kitchen table were 3 Hogwarts letters. I looked between Mum, Ron and the letters. What could this mean, was that third letter for me. I dived for the letters and believe or not it was. I ripped open the peculiar one first. Out dropped a familiar badge, I had seen it so often on Bill and Percy. The head Girl Badge. I squealed and ran over to hug Mum.
"I got Head Girl!"
"Congrats Ginny! That's almost everyone in the family." Mum cried with happiness.
"Oh great Mum, way to make me feel wanted." Ron added.
"Ron, don't say that. You're good at other things."
"Again really great thing to say." Ron said sarcastically.
I ran up to my room, got out a quill and parchment, and wrote to Harry. I wondered if he got Quidditch captain.
Harry! I got it, I got Head Girl. Did you get Quidditch captain, you probably did, I mean you were the youngest player in a century.
Write back ASAP! Eeeeeeeeeekkkk!
I sent off the letter with my owl then waited for a reply. An hour later it came.
Ginny, you can stop squealing now. I got Quidditch captain. Congrats on Head Girl, I told you that you would get it. There really is no one else better. Just 11 days until Hogwarts. I can't wait to see you, it's been too long.
That was reassuring, there really was know one better for quidditch captain though. Just to be annoying I wrote back with a...
Eeeeeeeeeekkkk! See ya soon, miss you too!
I figured it would be slightly awkward when we saw each other again but who knows, we are soulmates after all.
Harry's POV
There are two Hogwarts letters on the table, that means one must be for Quidditch captain. I ripped open the letters and there as expected was the Quidditch captain badge. There was also another unexpected surprise. A Head Boy badge. I read the letter to get a better sense of what was actually happening.
Dear Mr Potter,
Congratulations, we are pleased to inform you that you have been selected as both Gryffindor Quidditch captain and Head Boy. We understand that taking both responsibilities is a big ask and that is why we are giving you the option for you and the Head Girl to be co-quidditch captains. The Head Girl is Ginny Weasley. If you do wish to take on the role along with her please send a reply back. We will not be sending a letter regarding this to her so it will be your job to inform her of her Quidditch captain appointment at the proper time. Preferably on the Hogwarts express, if your aiming for a big surprise. Term resumes on 1st of September, see you soon.
Minerva McGonagall,
Deputy Headmistress
I practically squealed. Not only was I Head Boy and Quidditch captain, but I would be doing it all with Ginny. I couldn't wait for this year, it was going to be even better than I had hoped. I decided to take Minne's advice and not tell her until I saw her in 11 days. I could not wait.
