Robby pov
We wake up the next morning in the bunker. We decided to stay another night and I'm glad we did, but Bellamy is probably beside himself at this point.
"Bellamy is gonna kill both of us," I say.
"I told him I was going off with you before we left two nights ago," Octavia says.
"Wait you did?" I say not sure how to process.
"Funny thing is he seemed happy about it. He smiled and told me not to have too much fun," Octavia says doing quotes with her fingers.
"Well you can never have too much fun," I shrug.
We walk back to camp holding hands and see Raven clapping slowly and smirking when we walk through the gate. Finn is chucking as he leans on Raven for support. I scowl at them, but I'm clearly blushing.
"Aww how cute," Raven says.
"Jealous Reyes," Octavia teases her.
"No, I've got all I need," she says smiling at Finn.
I hug Finn when I realize that the last time I saw him he was unconscious and knocking on death's door.
"How are you brother?" I ask
"I'll have a cool scar and an even cooler story to tell," he says lifting up his shirt and showing off his stitched up wound.
"Robby!" Miller says walking up to us.
"Hey Miller, what's up?" I say.
"Your dad is waiting for you on the radio," he says.
I realize that I completely forgot about my dad. I thought I hated him for sending me to the ground. Earth sucks sometimes, but my life has gotten a hundred times better since I've come down. I made amends with my enemies, my family was down here with me, I've made some awesome new friends, and I found the love of my life. Clarke and Wells gave me a chance so I felt that my dad deserved the same chance.
I walk in the dropship slowly. For some reason, I'm extremely nervous. I see that Clarke is here to and she hands me the headset. She pats me on the back and gives me a reassuring smile. I sit down with a sigh.
I see my dad sitting there. He also looks nervous.
"Hey dad," I say breaking the awkward silence.
"Hey buddy," he responds.
He hasn't called me that in a long time.
Before I know it I start rambling.
"Your not gonna believe what has happened so far..." I tell him everything that's happened on the ground. With the grounders and camp and everything.
My dad usually gets annoyed when people talk for a long time, but he looks as if he couldn't be happier and smiles through my entire story.
"Im uh I'm sorry that I spat in your face and said I hated you," I say as tears begin to leak despite my fighting for then to stay put.
"It's okay, I deserved it, if it wasn't for you I would have had to do something unforgivable," he says his voice shaking.
"The culling," I answer with no hesitation.
He breaks and starts sobbing at my realization
"Dad, I don't blame you for doing what you thought was right to make us survive. I understand now. I mean you are a complete hardass sometimes, but you care about the survival of the human race," I say softly.
He calms down and nods slowly. He chuckled when I called him a hardass. I guess he has a sense of humor after all.
"Enough about me tell me about you. I'm glad Finn and Raven are down there with you. They're your family," he tells me
"You are my family to dad and grandma V. Clarke and Wells forgave me for everything and it's a new planet. It's time to think about the future and not the past," I say
"And I— I met somebody," I say smiling a bit.
He laughs and goes "oh who's the lucky someone?"
"Octavia Blake. It might sound naive, but I think she's the one, I really do," I answer.
"Wow who knew out of all the girls, the perfect one for you was the girl who no one knew existed until quite recently," he says.
"Things are worth waiting for," I shrug.
"Indeed," my dad answers and we both suddenly start laughing.
"Dad, we captured a grounder and a lot of people want to kill him, but I got to know him and want to help him escape. Octavia is on board. They think of us as the enemy and people have died and I'm not sure how to deal with it. What the hell do I do?! I'm afraid that I'm becoming a monster!"I say loudly.
"You turn the page. You do better today than you did yesterday," he assures me softly, but with a lot of determination.
"It's not that simple," I say
"It's the hardest thing in this world, but you can do it Robby, you are so strong," he says beaming with pride.
"You saved three hundred twenty lives Robby. Your a hero to the citizens of the ark. I may be up in space, but me and your grandmother are so proud of you and both love you very much," he says smiling.
"I love y'all to. Please tell grandma V that I miss her and I'm excited for her to see how beautiful earth is," I say.
"I will son. I promise," my dad says grinning from ear to ear.
"Well I should probably go and get the next person," I say and stand up.
"His name is Dax," he tells me as he flips through a list which I assume are our names.
"May we meet again," he says
"Not may, we will meet again," I say and walk out.
