Lottie woke up early the next morning, anxiety in her throat. She reached for her phone and checked the message from her ex...ish boyfriend. She got out of bed as quietly as possible and resolved to go and see whatever drugs he had in. She felt tears prick at her eyes, all the work she'd put in would be ruined by him, all the help Erin got her would be wasted, all the nights Erin would wake up to Lottie heaving in the bathroom and stay with her - telling her it was okay - would be wasted.
She went in to the empty kitchen, and slipped on her trainers and jacket. Everyone was still sleeping, even Erin and Jay, so before she left she wrote a note and left it on the table for Erin and Avery.
She took one more look at the apartment, before leaving.
Erin woke up with a start to the sound of the front door, she knew the sound all too well, and she knew whoever was trying to leave, had attempted to make it quiet. She looked to see Jay fast asleep, before running to Avery's room.
Her stomach dropped to the floor when she saw it was only Avery curled up in her bed...and the bathroom wasn't locked...so where was Lottie? Erin ran in to the kitchen. "Lottie?" Erin said. The kitchen was empty...and then Erin spotted the piece of paper on the dining table. She reached for the paper, unfolding it and feeling her eyes water when she saw what was written.
Erin + Aves,
Thank you so much for everything you've done for me - I'll never be able to make it up to you...but it's not safe for you guys, Scott has friends in higher places.
Erin, I'm sorry, I can't do it anymore. Thank you for trying to help me.
Aves, If I don't make it back to school...then thank you for your friendship.
Love you both,
Lottie x
"Oh Lottie..." Erin said to no one in particular. She resolved to go after her, knowing that Lottie's manipulative, abusive boyfriend had caused this. She ran in to Avery's room and gently shook her sleeping daughter awake. "Aves, sweetheart wake up. Lottie's gone." Erin said shaking her daughter, whose eyes fluttered open, settling on Erin's face confused.
"Mom...what?" Avery said tiredly, turning to the side to look for Lottie.
"Lottie's gone...and I think she's going back to her boyfriend. We're going to head down to the precinct and try track her down. Get dressed quickly." Erin said, as she left Avery to get changed. She went to wake up Jay, who shot up immediately when he heard what had happened. The family were ready by the door within five minutes, Avery constantly trying to ring Lottie's phone.
Erin had called Hank, who called the team in early, because this could result in a massive drug bust. She drove them all to the precinct, praying to God that they wouldn't be too late.
Lottie was sitting in the back of one of her boyfriend's mates car, her head pressed against the cold glass of the window. She'd blocked Avery, Erin, Jay and even Hailey's number, so nobody would be able to stop her - she didn't care if they were famously known cops, they'd never been able to stop her boyfriend's drug ring and they certainly wouldn't be able to now. He'd acquired some high end clients, buying his stuff in bulks, bringing the cash in.
Obviously, new drugs meant Lottie was needed, but given that the clients were rich business men...she feared that the type of drugs she'd be taking weren't exactly something you'd take...more something you'd give to someone.
She swallowed down her fear and tried to keep her face impartial as they pulled up to the all familiar exterior of her boyfriend's drug den. She opened the door and rough hands guided her in to the den, mocking her as they always would. She was pulled through the familiar doors of the den and thrown to the stone ground, her boyfriend, Scott, smiling down on her. "Well well well, you came." he smiled, grabbing her face by the chin, Lottie grunted pulling away. "Where you been Lottie? Hanging round with the cops kid again?"
"Leave her out of this...get on with it, what do you want me to take?" Lottie said, as much toughness in her voice as possible. Scott shook his head, before motioning for his friends to come over. They grabbed Lottie and sat her down in a chair, handcuffing each wrist to the chair legs. "What the fuck Scott? What are you doing?" Lottie said, her tough facade down as she realised she couldn't get out of this. Scott brought forward a needle preparing to inject it in to her. There was writing on the syringe...
Rohypnol, GHB, Ketamine
A cocktail of date rape drugs.
Lottie struggled in the chair as she moved forward, injecting the substance in to her neck. She screamed and struggled, but she knew no one could hear her. It didn't take long for her body to feel weak, her head was spinning and then everything was black.
Erin, Jay and Avery ran in to the precinct and up the stairs where the team was already waiting, crowded round the whiteboard. Voight called Erin and Jay in to his office, so Avery went over to Hailey, slipping her arms round the taller blonde's waist. Hailey hugged Avery back. "I promise we'll help her Aves, I promise." Hailey said, gently rubbing Avery's back. "We've already got a lead, just waiting on a location."
Avery nodded, and stayed gripping the back of Hailey's jacket.
Erin, Jay and Voight emerged from the office, just as Mouse shouted. "I'VE GOT A LOCATION!"
"Right lets head out." Voight said as everyone went to vest up. "Aves go sit with Trudy."
Avery shook her head. "No pops, please let me come in the car. Please. I need to be there if she's hurt."
Voight looked at her, before withering under her stare. "Ok, but come and put a vest on please." Avery ran down to the locker room, meeting her Mom at the lockers.
"Aves no. Not this time. Back upstairs." Erin said as Jay fixed up her vest.
"Pops said I could." Avery said. Erin rolled her eyes and helped her daughter put on her spare vest, smiling slightly as she saw Avery wearing the vest, 'LINDSAY' printed on the side.
They all ran to the squad cars, and drove off to find Lottie.
