It has only been minutes since Vader has been told about the rebels surrendering over to him, but it has felt like hours. He walked back and forth on the walkway waiting for his Imperial Troopers to bring them to him. He knew it was his son. Well he hoped at least. He couldn't imagine who else it would be.
Finally he felt Luke's presence, he quickly walked to the elevator as it opened up. First his commander walked out and then behind him he saw Luke. He noticed he seemed older and stronger than the last time they saw each other. He looked well like a Jedi. He also notice there was no hatered or fear on this face, he actually seemed he was calm.
Once he stepped out, he was shocked to see Padme was directly behind him. He could tell she recently has been crying, but that didn't stop her from glaring at him. This was the face he expected to see on Luke. He wondered if she did this willingly or if she got caught up in Luke's plan. Judging by her face, he was going to the guess that last opinion.
"These are the rebels that surrendered to us." The commander said as Vader looked at them both as they were handcuffed. He still couldn't believe this was happening. He was shocked." Although he denies it, I believe there may be more of them and I request permission to conduct a further search of the area. They were armed only with this." The commanded showed Vader the lightsaber he was holding.
Vader took it and looked at it and then back at his son. "Good work, Commander. Leave us. Conduct your search and bring their companions to me."
He slightly felt his sons mood change, at his last comment.
"Yes, my lord." The Commander said before leaving along with the Imperial Troopers. It was only him, Luke, and Padme left.
He turned around and started to walk as Luke and Padme followed. "The emperor has been expecting you." he said to Luke.
"I know, Father." Luke said surprising both him and Padme.
"So, you have accepted the truth." He smirking under his mask.
"I've accepted the truth that you were once Anakin Skywalker, my father." Luke said with such easy.
"That name no longer has any meaning for me!" He yelled pointed Luke's unignited lightsaber at him.
"It is the name of your true self. You've only forgotten. I know there is good in you. The emperor hasn't driven it from you fully." Luke told him shocking him.
"Luke." Padme whispered probably seeing he was pushing me too far.
"That was why you couldn't destroy me. That's why you won't bring us to your emperor now." Luke said ignoring Padme's pleads.
He looked down at the lightsaber in his hand. He truly was a lot like Padme. He saw the good in everyone even when there wasn't anything good left.
He ignited the lightsaber and watched as Padme stepped closer to Luke. Did she truly think I would harm him? Well I guess in her defense I already have. He glanced down at his son's hand.
"I see you have constructed a new lightsaber." Vader said looking at the new green blade. He was impressed. He did a good job building it. "Your skills are complete."
He shut off the blade and turned around, hearing Padme exhale.
"Indeed you are powerful as the emperor has foreseen." Vader continued saying.
"Come with me." Luke begged.
"Others once thought as you do." He said glancing over at Padme. "You don't know the power of the dark side." He turned away not being able to look at her sad eyes anymore. "I must obey my master."
"I will not turn and you'll be forced to kill me." Luke said.
"If that is your destiny." Vader coldly said.
"You will not touch him." Padme hissed at him.
"Mother, it's alright." Luke said trying to comfort her. "Search your feelings, Father. You can't do this. I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your hate."
"It is too late for me, son." He sighed. "The emperor will show you the true nature of the Force. He is your master now."
"Then my father is truly dead." Luke said hurting him more than he would ever know.
He looked over more Imperial Troopers stepped over ready to take them to the Emperor. He watched as they lead Luke past him and Padme for once looked at him with sad eyes, pleading for him to stop this.
He looked back at his son's lightsaber and sighed knowing it truly was too late for him. He followed them back to the elevator that would take them to his shuttle and bring them to the Death Star.
Seated next to Luke, Padme couldn't look at anything, but the ground. She failed him. She should have tried harder and now they were being brought right to the person she tried protecting her kids from for so many years.
"I'm sorry, mother. I-I truly thought he wouldn't do this." Luke said sadly probably sensing her feels.
"Luke." She awkwardly tried to touch his leg as best as she could being handcuffed. "It's going to be okay. Don't blame yourself. I thought the same thing once. I thought I can bring him back to his old self, but he was too far gone."
"I still think there is good in him." Luke said.
She looked up at Vader, seeing he was looking at them, but clearly trying not to let it show. "Sometimes I do too."
"There is so much I wanted to ask you, so much I should of as soon as I found out who you were" Luke shook his head angry with himself.
"No. I thought I was doing the right thing, sending you away. I thought you would be safe, but clearly fate had other plans. I truly deeply loved and love you and Leia. Don't forget that." Padme said holding back her tears, not letting her cry in front of all these people. She would put on her brave face or her cold senator face as Anakin used to call it. She wasn't going to give them the satifaction of thinking they won this. Like many times before, you would stare death in the face and hope for the best.
They finally arrived at the Death Star and Padme and Luke were pulled out and followed Vader as he led them to Palpatine. She refused to call him Emperor, he was and will always be Palpatine to her.
It has been years, since she had seen his face. She thought back to the last time and she was pretty sure it was when he turned the republic into an empire. She grew angry thinking of his smug smile. He must be so happy with the way things have turned out. She hated him for everything he had done to this family.
Vader took them into the elevator and stepped in next to them. She put on her senator face and refused to look at him.
She watched as the doors opened and then they all stepped out in a dark, cold room. She looked ahead and saw Palpatine smirking sitting in his throne. This just angered Padme more. She along with the others walked up the stairs closer to him.
"Welcome, young Skywalker. I have been expecting you." He gleamed down at her son. "And Senator Amidala what an unexpected surprise. The Senate has surely missed your loud vocal mouth."
"Someone needed to stand up to your idiotic ways and lies." Padme shot back.
He glared at her. "It definitely was better than I thought you were dead. Oh, well that will soon change." He looked back over at Luke. "You'll no longer need those." He said moving his hands releasing the cuffs on Luke. "Guards, leave us. I'm looking forward to completing your training. In time, you will call me master."
"You're gravely mistaken. You won't convert me as you did my father." Luke said causing Padme to smirk for how proud she was of her son. She gave birth to fearless children there was no doubt about that.
"Oh, no, my young Jedi." The Emperor stood up and slowly walked over to Luke. "You will find that it is you who are mistaken about a great many things."
"His lightsaber." Vader said handing it over to him.
"Ah, yes. A Jedi's weapon." The Emperor said as Padme looks at him warily wondering when he was going to kill them, or her at least. "Much like you father's. By now you must know your father can never be turned from the dark side. So will it be with you." He chuckled.
"You're wrong. Soon I'll be dead, and you with me." Luke said.
The Emperor just chuckled sending chills up Padme's spine. "Perhaps you refer to the imminent attack of your rebel fleet." He looked at the shocked expression on both Luke's and Padme's face. "Yes. I assure you, we are quite safe from your friends here." He said turning back around.
"Your overconfidence is your weakness." Luke shot back.
"I see you got your strong headness from your mother. Non the less, your faith in your friends is yours." The Emperor said clearly growing annoyed.
"It is pointless to resist, my son." Vader told Luke, hoping he would turn over and he wouldn't have to kill him. A part of him wasn't sure if he could.
Padme was surprised even through his voice mechanism, his voice sounded defeated and tired.
"Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design. Your friend up there on the sanctuary moon are walking into a trap, as is your rebel fleet." The emperor responded, shocking Padme. How? How does he know all this? "It was I who allowed the Alliance to know the location of the shield generator. It is quite safe from your pitiful little band. An entire legion of my best troops awaits them. I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive." He smirked down at them.
Padme couldn't believe what she was hearing. They walked right into his trap. Leia and Han were walking right into his trap.
"No smart comment, Senator? It would seem for the first time, I have managed to silence you." The Emperor chuckled.
Padme looked over at Vader, just hoping there was even the tiniest bit of Anakin still left in him. Anakin please, there must still be good in you. There must. She hoped he would look over at her. Oh how she craved just seeing his blue eyes again, but he just looked ahead not looking at anything. She knew they have fully failed and everyone was going to pay the price.
