Chapter Twenty Nine.

As walls slammed down and around him, Dio ran. He ignored everyone else, focusing instead on getting out of that training pit. He did not have the time, nor the patience, to waste on hitting his balls off of people.
He could feel a riving pain travel up his back, a familiar feeling to when he had been decapitated by Jonathen, and then when Jotaro had pummeled him in Cairo.
The pain had slowly been growing, spreading throughout his body. It had begun soon after his shadow war had begun, when he had commanded his zombies to spread their numbers throughout Japan, when he had first begun making ready for battle with Pro Heroes.

As Ace of Spades slammed its fist into a slab-faced villain. Currently Spades' current power was that of a Queen. 'What the hell are you?' Demanded one of the villains, his voice shrill. 'You ain't got no telekinetic Quirk now do you?'
'No,' said Fast Kilmister, pulling out a simple lighter. 'I have something much more impressive than a simple little Quirk, I have my Ace of Spades.'

As Dio slammed himself into the wall, he flung his lat ball into his second and final victim. Within the space of a second - two his victims measure of time - Dio had taken her out of the game, winning his place.
As The World faded from his vision, his face broke out into a frown. In the span of long months, Dio had been amazed with U.A.'s training measures. From the entrance exam, the USJ and, to a lesser degree, the training camp. But in between those three instances, he had been perplexed with all the bizarre, no, odd going ons with the Hero Society.
But nothing would have prepared him for a game of what was essentially dodgeball. 'These people,' he growled, subvocally. 'No, perhaps I am the one who is wrong. Perhap their absurdity is that which keeps them standing, even if their legs are crumbling and the noose is tied around their necks.'
For the remainder of his short walk, he contemplated this, wondering if even he was to be bested by the modern Hero Society practices. In a way, his half-beating heart was warmed by the sight of Todoroki, seeing that another competent individual had made it through the test.
Secluding himself from the other woube be heroes, Dio pressed his eye teeth to his wrist. 'Do you feel it, Jojo? Eh, my teeth against your skin, your wrist, your sweet blood. I already feel a change, Jojo. The real question is can you?'
The sound of a creaking door drew his attention. 'Eh, blondie, what are you doing over there?' A high feminine voice disturbed him. Turning his head ever so slightly, he cast his eyes over a lean-faced, whipcord-strong girl. 'Wrist cramp? Nah, I saw you briefly, you were one of the first to win your place.'
'Oh, it is a cramp alright.' Dio lied. 'One which will grow ever so more annoying with our follow up test,' he said. And if to emphasize his words,a small bell rang. 'On we go then, to work.'

The destruction which met Dio was not unfamiliar to him. He knew it well, for he had stood in the very centre of its genesis. Just thinking of it sent a chill down his spin. Whether it was excitement for All Might's retirement or fear of One for Al, he could not answer. Perhaps it was both. Or perhaps it was somehow connected to the visions he had seen after his head had been knocked into the arm of the chair.
'They have given us areas to better utilise out Quirks, he observed. 'Sero, care to join me?'
'Eh, ye, sure, Dio.'
As the two fledgling heroes made their way into the devastated urban zone, Dio decided to break the uneasy silence between them. 'So, what you said earlier about Midoriya seeing a naked girl, that true?'
'Don't tell me you're like Minteta now, Dio. But ye, it's true, saw them myself, clear as day.'
'eWll, that is something isn't it?'

As Gang Orca prepared to make his entrance, he checked his restraints one last time. An aid came running up to him. 'Mr Gang Orca, if you see a Dio Brando during your involvement, could you please tell him to go to the nearest Police Station?'
'Police Station?' Gang Orca asked, taken aback slightly by the request. 'Of course, though I would ask why you couldn't tell him yourself.'
'Well, my boss believes that whatever the reason for Dio's summons, he should be tld about it as soon as possible. Besides, we can just mail him the results afterwards.'

Afterword. Well, writer's-block is a piece of shit. Anyway, we are getting ready for what I hope to be a fun fight, until next time, take care.
