Montgomery was Ophelia's first real boyfriend. She had a few in middle school, but she didn't kiss any of them. She did, however, kiss her homecoming date freshmen year. Just once, at the dance. He was her first kiss, and then after that she met Montgomery. He was her first everything else.

She was the first boy she ever slept with. She was glad he was. He had been with two girls before her. She never felt compelled to want to sleep with anyone else but him, not even when they were broken up.

But then she slept with Zach.

Not sexually, of course. But they slept together that night, after she told him all about Rep Night, and all about Montgomery, and Hannah. Ophelia remember laying down to rest her eyes, and the next thing she knew, she was waking up to a buzzing sound. Zach was next to her. His arms were wrapped around her, and her head was pressed against his chest.

The buzzing continued, and it woke her completely. She turned over, grabbed her phone, and saw Montgomery was calling her.

"Oh my god!" she shouted. She fell out of her bed, catching her phone and answering it. "H-Hello?"

"Ophelia, what the fuck are you doing in there? I'm outside."

Ophelia stood up, looking through her window and spotting Montgomery's Jeep in the driveway.

"Shit!" she cursed to herself. "Look, I'm running a little late. Give me five minutes."

"Hey, can I come in?" he asked.

"No! I mean-just five minutes! I'll be right there!"

Ophelia hung up the phone. Zach, who was now waking up, said, "What?"

She slapped his chest, pushing him back in the bed. "Stay down! Monty's outside! He'll see you!"

"Huh?" He looked at the clock to see that school would be starting in half an hour. "Fuck!"

Ophelia ran to her closet and grabbed out black denim jeans and a dark green hoodie. She grabbed the hem of her shirt, lifting it to her bellybutton before looking back at Zach, who was staring right at her.

"Do you mind?"

He looked away quickly. She threw on the clothes. And then a leather jacket over it.

"Okay," she said. Zach looked back at her, fascinated with how quickly she became so beautiful.

"Can I get up?" he asked. "I have to get ready too."

"You can get up when I say you can," she snapped at him, "Monty is right outside! If he sees us..." She didn't finish. Instead, he grabbed her backpack off her desk chair, grabbed a comb off her desk, and ran out of her room.

"Hey!" Zach called after her.

She looked back. "Shhh! I'll text you when we're gone. Go out the window. Don't let anyone see you!"

"Jesus Christ" she heard him mutter as she ran downstairs.

She made it to Montgomery's Jeep quickly.

"Hey, Beautiful," he greeted her, planting a kiss on her cheek.

"Hey, babe," she said, huffing from being out of breath.

He gave her a once over. "You okay?"

"Perfect." She took her hair out a bun and combed it through as they drove to school. She texted Zach to give him the all clear.

"Hey, so I'll be back in a few days," he told her, excited. "You won't be having to eat lunch alone anymore."

"I don't," she admitted. "I eat with Tony."

He looked less excited. "Still Tony, hm?"

"He's a family friend," she explained to him.

He stayed silent, only nodding. They were almost to the school when Montgomery suddenly pulled the car over, parking on the side of the road in front of someone else's house.

"What are you doing?" she asked, unsure if she should now be worried.

"I just..." he sighed, "I never told you how fucking sorry I was. For everything."

Her gaze softened. She assured him, "You have."

He disagreed with her. "Not about Hannah. I'm...sorry. I'm sorry about Rep Night, Ophelia."

Ophelia froze, wondering where this was coming from.

"Hannah was your friend. I didn't like you hanging out with her but I-I shouldn't have done what I did. At least, I shouldn't have made you help me with it. It was fucked up. I was fucked up." Montgomery wasn't looking at her. He was avoiding eye contact looking down at his steering wheel.

"Monty..." Ophelia wanted to console her boyfriend, but didn't know how. The things he was saying were right. He was fucked up.

"I've done a lot of bad things." His voice was now barely above a whisper. Still, he avoided eye contact. "I've hurt a lot of people. I've-I've hurt you. And I know that you deserve someone better than me-"

"Stop." This time she was intervening. "Don't say stuff like that."

"It's true." He finally made eye contact. "You don't deserve to be with some fuck up like me."

"Where is this coming from?" she demanded, angry that he was being so cruel to himself.

"O, when we broke up, it caused me to look back on all the terrible shit I've put you through. And I knew deep down that you shouldn't have to stick around someone like me-"

"-someone like you? Monty, stop-"

"-and I felt so fucking bad. And the whole time I wanted to just fucking apologize and beg for you to reconsider. I'm sorry I didn't. But as soon as I fucking saw you again I just got so angry at you for leaving me. And-And the reason I was so fucking pissed was because I knew that eventually you would do it again."

Montgomery was rambling quickly, but emotionally. His voice was deep, but it still cracked.

"Montgomery," Ophelia said carefully. She placed a hand on his knee, reaching over to get closer to him. "The reason I'm with you, is because I love you. That's not changing, Monty. Trust me, after...what happened...I wanted it to. But it didn't. I'm always going to love you, Monty. You'll just have to get over it."

She thought she was helping by speaking, but he just slumped back into his chair. He looked out the window, before looking back and asking, "Am I attractive to you, Ophelia?"

This time, she was definitely confused.

"Are you serious?" she asked him. He was tall, muscular, tan, athletic. His face was so, so handsome, and his hair was amazing. What was he thinking asking her that? Of course he was. She had to deal with every other girl thinking so too.

He shrugged and said. "I see you and I look at you and you're so fucking pretty, O. Like so fucking pretty. And I really feel like you're out of my league."

Ophelia began to blush, and felt herself smiling. "Monty, are you kidding me? If anything you're out of my league. You're really hot, Monty." She tried to reassure him.

"But no one wants me, O. No one but you."

Ophelia stopped again, no longer smiling. Now sad. "Monty, please stop. It hurts me to hear you say this kind of stuff. Girls look at you all the time. You think I don't get insecure? Seeing girls prettier than me looking at you? And then they look at me, and judge me for not being good enough for you?"

"That doesn't happen!" he argued.

It did. It happened to Ophelia all the time. In fact, she saw girls coveting after her boyfriend so much that she didn't know whether or not Montgomery hooked up with anyone while they were broken up. She hoped he didn't, but she was too afraid to ask.

He then said. "Or maybe it does. But it doesn't happen as much as I have to see guys look at you. And as much as your friends tell you to get someone better."

"Monty, no one even-"

"I know why you got in a fight with Marisa." He admitted. "Her boyfriend stopped me at school. He said Marisa felt bad about it. But I don't think she did, I think he just didn't want me to beat his ass for it."

Ophelia listen intently.

"Now tell me, O. Tell me the fucking truth. Do you think Dempsey is attractive?"

Ophelia hesitated, unsure of what to say. She did find Dempsey attractive. More than that, she thought he was hot. Not as hot as Montgomery, of course. At least, not right now. She had never seen him shirtless, unlike Montgomery, who she had seen completely naked.

But she wasn't sure if Montgomery could handle her truthfully answer. She didn't want to answer at all.

"Be honest."

She sighed. "Yeah," she admitted.

He looked away from her again, back at the steering wheel. She watched him clench his fist.

"But that doesn't mean anything" she told him, "You're way better looking to me."

He shook his head. "He's better. Everyone thinks so. Your mom would rather you be dating him, wouldn't she?"

"No," she lied. "My mom likes you."

"She fucking likes him more!" He was shouting suddenly, now looking back at her. "Everyone fucking likes him more! If my parents met him they would fucking like him more! And you probably will too!"

"That's stupid!" she told him, "Where is all this coming from?"

Montgomery suddenly slapped his hand against the dash board. She flinched and grabbed the handle of the car door, instinctively. Montgomery saw.

"You think I'm gonna hurt you?" he asked.

Ophelia was honest with him. "I don't know."

Montgomery started the car again, pulled out, and drove the rest of the way to her school. He acted like nothing happened, like he hadn't stopped at all.

Justin saw Montgomery as he pulled up to the curb.

"Monty, you back man?"

Montgomery was smiling now as he greeted his friend from inside the Jeep. "In a few days, man."

His attitude changed so quickly, she wondered if he was being fake with Justin. Or if friends really helped him that much.

"Damn, you guys pullin up hella late," Justin mentioned.

"Mind you business, dickhead" he laughed. Ophelia was grabbing her stuff when she heard him whisper, "But a couple minutes don't matter when my girl's got her mouth on my dick head."

Justin laughed. Ophelia scrunched up her face, "Don't be gross. I just overslept, Justin."

Justin said, "Damn, I guess Dempsey did too. He pulling in now. I thought I was the only one who didn't give a fuck."

Ophelia looked across the parking lot and saw Zach's car pulling in. He got out, looking disheveled like Ophelia.

Justin told Montgomery, "Catch you later."

Ophelia hopped out too. Montgomery caught her arm before she left completely.

"Hey, um, I love you. Sorry for, like, ranting and shit earlier."

"It's fine" she told him, "Don't worry about it. I'll see you after school."

She tried to go but he caught her again.

"Ophelia?"

She waited.

"Don't talk to Dempsey. Please."

"Monty, what the fuck are we doing?"

Ophelia tried speaking calmly to her boyfriend, hoping that she could break him out of the rage he was so clearly in. He acted like he was fine, he almost seemed normal. But that look...she could tell by the look in his eyes that he was going to hurt someone. Badly.

Ophelia was in the passenger seat of his Jeep, clinging onto his arm as he sped down the road. He was going at least 75.

Hannah's body was in the truck. Ophelia had gotten in the car with him only because she did not want him to drive off with her alone. She feared that if he did, Hannah wouldn't come back at all.

"What the fuck do you think I'm doing? I'm teaching this bitch a lesson about minding her fucking business."

Ophelia cringed as Montgomery drove through a neighborhood, still going 75.

She begged, "Look, let's just drop her off somewhere. Like a hospital or something. Please."

She hoped that he would agree to this, and realize that she was looking out for him too. Kidnapping is not someone a person forgets, and it's not something Hannah would forget. If she woke up, and she saw Montgomery, then she would call the police. Montgomery would be arrested.

She feared that Montgomery already realized this, and planned on doing more than kidnap her. She was scared he wanted to kill her.

Ophelia wondered if her boyfriend could actually kill someone in cold blood. It scared her that she didn't know.

"Don't be fucking stupid," he criticized.

Ophelia looked back at the tarp Hannah was under. Ophelia was breathing heavily. "Do you think she can breath under there?" She spoke panicked. "Can you pull over so I can check?"

Montgomery groaned. "She's fucking fine, Ophelia!"

His anger began showing through.

"Please, let's think about this," she begged him, "Monty, you just kidnapped someone."

"So fucking what?" he spat.

She was so shocked, so bewildered that boyfriend could end up being this dangerous. He had Hannah's life in his hands. And Ophelia was just letting him do what he pleased.

He hit a bump in the road, causing Ophelia to yelp because of her skittish situation. "Slow the fuck down!" she screamed at him.

"Shut the fuck up, Ophelia!" He yelled back, just as loudly. "You need to let me do what I need to fucking do!"

Ophelia was having none of it in that moment. "Slow down! You have a fucking girl in your truck! What the fuck will you do if you get pulled over right now? You think they won't find her?"

Montgomery didn't admit to it, but she was right. He slowed down to 45.

Ophelia looked back at Hannah. She wondered if she should just crawl back there and take her out herself.

"Where are you taking her?" Ophelia demanded you know.

Montgomery looked over at her. That look again. Haunting. Terrifying. "To the middle of fucking nowhere."

He did. He brought her to the abandoned building in the middle of nowhere. The one that he went to when things were tough with his dad. The one he was staying at while his dad was angry. The one he brought her to a few times before.

Montgomery parked, and hopped out without a word to Ophelia. She ran out too, reaching him before he had the trunk open completely. He pulled back the tarp, saw Hannah, and grabbed her arm.

"If you hurt her, she'll go to the police!" Ophelia said quickly worried why Montgomery brought them to a completely secluded place.

"Fuck, O! I said to shut the fuck up about it! I don't fucking care!" He yelled at her.

She glared.

He grabbed Hannah firmly, and then flung her over his shoulder, bringing her deeper into the abandoned building. He set her down on the dirt ground, plopping her too roughly for Ophelia's liking. She stood, helpless as she watched her boyfriend flip her over, and back again. He reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out her phone.

"You know the password?" he asked.

She did. She used her phone many times. But she shook her head and said, "No."

Montgomery rolled his eyes. "Of fucking course not."

Hannah didn't stir at all while he searched her pockets.

"What the fuck did you give her?" Ophelia asked, nervously.

Montgomery paused what he was doing to look at her. "GHB."

Ophelia's mouth fell open. "The...The date rape drug? You fucking roofied her?"

"Would you rather I have hit her on the head?" he demanded.

"Where the fuck did you even get that?"

Montgomery was trying to get to the camera, and learned that swiping left got him there.

"Bryce. He has all kinds of shit."

Ophelia took a step back from her boyfriend. She never would have thought Bryce would sell roofies. She never thought her boyfriend would buy any.

"When did you buy them?" she asked.

Montgomery hesitated. Instead he asked, "How the fuck does this camera work?"

Ophelia swallowed hard, pain arising in her throat as it closed while she tried to shove down her emotion. Her fear was the only thing keeping from lashing out, but him ignoring the question raised her anger to somewhere she couldn't contain.

Suddenly, she ran at him, shoving him back.

"The fuck?!"

Ophelia used both his fists to hit him, pounding on his chest. "When the fuck did you buy them?!"

Montgomery grabbed her hands, holding them away from him. "What the fuck are you talking about?"

"How many girls do you drug?" she asked, "How many fucking girls do you drug and take out here?"

"I don't drug girls!" he told her. "You think I'd do that, huh? You think I'd cheat on you?" He was disgusted by the thought.

"When did you buy them?" she screamed.

"I don't remember!" he yelled back.

Ophelia shoved him again and said, "You're a piece of shit! You know that?"

He pushed her off of him. "Yeah, my dad tells me enough."

Montgomery crouched down and grabbed Hannah's jacket, and began removing it from her body.

"Did you ever use it on me?"

Montgomery froze, then said, "Of course not."

Ophelia watched him throw her jacket to the side. He grabbed the hem of her shirt.

"What are you going to do?" she demanded. He ignored her, and took Hannah's top off. "Monty, what the fuck?"

Ophelia looked down at Hannah's body, which wa snow shirtless.

"What the fuck?" Montgomery muttered. She had dark bruises on her, like fingers mark from some grabbing her.

Ophelia gasped at the sight of them.

"Fucking kinky bitch" he brushed off.

He moved her hair away from her face. Ophelia bent down and pushed him away from her.

"I'm not going to just watch as you rape her!"

He fell all the way down.

"I'm not fucking raping her!" he screamed. "For fuck's sake! I'm doing this for us, Ophelia! So she'll never fuck with us again!"

"Then what the fuck is this?"

Montgomery stood up, making his way to Ophelia. This time, he shoved her. She fell painfully.

"You stay there and shut the fuck up!"

She felt frozen. She watched her boyfriend lift Hannah off the ground. She saw more bruises on her pale back. He unhooked her bra. He set her back down, and yanked the bra off of her, exposing her chest completely.

Ophelia scrambled up, and ran at him again. "Stop it!"

He grabbed Ophelia's arm, and threw her to the ground again. "I swear to fucking God, Ophelia! Calm the fuck down!"

Ophelia sobbed. Her elbow hurt, as did her knees and hands. She watched as Montgomery stood above Ophelia. He had the phone in his hand. He snapped a few photos.

Montgomery took out his phone, and she watched him take a single picture.

"Alright" he said, "Help me get her back in."

Ophelia didn't move. She was still on the group, now hysterical. She felt so terrible, so evil. She betrayed Hannah, she just let this all happen.

She felt Montgomery crouch down and touch her shoulder.

"Come on," he told her, "Let's go."

"Get off me!"

Montgomery brought his phone to her face. The photo of Hannah topless pulled up. Ophelia turned away from it. "I did this for you, Ophelia. I fucking did it for you. Look, she'll wake up with these on her phone. And she'll know not to mess with us again unless she wants this shit going public."

He grabbed her arm, bringing her to her feet. "I'll take you home," he told her, "Look, you can just go to sleep, and forget it happened. I'll take care of the rest."

She pushed him away. "You're a fucking psychopath!"

Montgomery raised his hand in the air to slap her. He caught himself in the last minute, realizing his actions. He regretted it.

Ophelia stared at him with big, fearful eyes.

"I fucking did this for you" he spat at her. "She tried to fucking ruin us, O. I'm just fixing things. So go sit in the fucking car and let me finish this."

"Look, I'm not going to be able to talk to you for a while," Ophelia whispered.

Her and Zach were beneath the bleachers again. The make out bleachers, to Zach's surprise.

"Why?" he asked. "Because of last night?"

Zach's hair was messy that morning. He wasn't able to go home and slick it back. Ophelia hated to admit it, but it looked hot that way.

She shook her head, trying to clear the thought from her head.

"Not because of last night...but don't tell anyone about it. Please."

"That we slept together?"

Ophelia's eyes widened. "Zachary!"

"Sorry!" he said, quickly. "I mean-not slept together. Slept, like, in the same bed. Slept. Just...sleeping."

Ophelia huffed.

"I won't tell anyone though. Promise. Is that why you're mad?"

"No. It's because I promised Monty I wouldn't."

Zach scoffed. "Yeah, let me just drop everything to cater to that man."

Ophelia said, "He's not asking that much. Look, he's just jealous."

Zach asked, "And what'll he do if we do? Huh? Hit you?"

Ophelia glared at him. "No, Zach. He wouldn't hit me. He would just be sad. I'm not going to go out of the way to make my boyfriend sad."

Zach snapped at her, "Like he ever does shit for you."

Ophelia grabbed the handle of her backpack tightly. The jacket she had on was getting hotter by the minute. She was ready to head inside, and Zach's cold attitude wasn't making her want to stick around.

"He's done more for me than you ever had. You have no idea."

Ophelia turned away from him. He grabbed her by the shoulder, flipping her around. "Hey, you know that's not true."

Ophelia shook her head. "Look, I really appreciate last night and how you listened to me. But-But I can't do this with you right now. So just...leave me alone for a while, okay? Just until Monty cools off. And this whole things blows over."

Ophelia walked away from him. Zach wanted to spin her around again. He wanted to kiss her. He wanted to remind her off how perfectly she fit next to him last night, how warm she felt, and how he cradled her body.

But he let her leave. And he regretted it.

A few days passed, and Ophelia stayed away from Zach. As if that night had never happened. As if he didn't hold her in his arms as they slept.

The day came when Montgomery was off his suspension, and Zach had to watch them walk into school hand in hand. Montgomery was too confident too happy. Zach didn't think he deserved to be happy anymore. Not after Ophelia told him what happened.

Piece of shit.

Ophelia saw Zach as they walked in. She saw his intense stares, his glowering tone. His angry expression.

She was used to it. From Zach. From Jessica. From Alex.

But then she saw Clay. Staring at her just as intensely. Staring straight at her. She realized why.

Clay was on her tape.

A/N: I'll try to put out at least two chapter a week for you guys! If I'm too slow let me know!

Also, side note I was listening to the acoustic version of "The One That Got Away" by Katie Perry and it totally reminded me of this story ?
