Lexie was surprised at how much better she felt on the days she woke up next to Mark. After their conversation, he had started sleeping in the bed with her, as though solidifying his commitment to her by holding her close to him while they slept. While Lexie was still nowhere near ready to officially rekindle their relationship, she found herself becoming more comfortable with the idea with each passing day.

With Michael now ten weeks old, and just two weeks left in her maternity leave, Lexie was becoming more anxious about her return to work and how she would balance residency and motherhood.

She was deep in thought when she felt Mark's stubble against her skin as he kissed her neck. "Mmmmh, well good morning to you too." She moaned softly before rolling over to kiss him properly.

Mark wasn't unsure about his relationship with Lexie. He knew that he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with her. He had even bought a ring. He'd had it since a couple of days after they had gotten back together before Callie's pregnancy had broken them up again.

His thoughts were interrupted by Lexie rolling him on to his back before straddling his hips as she leaned down to kiss him. "Mmm, Lex..." he moaned against her lips as his hands almost instinctually circled her waist.

It was at this moment that Michael decided to wake up. His little cries sounded through the room, and Lexie was off of Mark within seconds, scooping her son into her arms as she comforted him.

Mark groaned internally. He hadn't had sex with Lexie in months now, and while he didn't really expect to anytime soon, her antics that morning didn't help matters at all.

In the last few weeks, Lexie had made some progress in treating her postpartum depression. Mark and Meredith had insisted that she speak with Dr. Wyatt, and her therapy sessions seemed to be helping. She felt a lot happier, and she was bonding with Michael again, something that she was incredibly thankful for.

As she rushed to pick up her son upon hearing his cries, she also heard a noise from Mark. She couldn't help but to smirk a little as she carried Michael over to the changing table.

When she finished changing him, Lexie carried Michael over to the bed and laid back down next to Mark. Snuggling up against him, she began nursing Michael while Mark wrapped his arms around them.

It was a small moment of just the three of them, a little family perfectly content within their happy little bubble.

Lexie turned and locked eyes with Mark. In that moment, she was no longer unsure. She knew exactly what she wanted.

Mark saw the look in Lexie's eyes, and pressed his forehead gently against hers, the tips of their noses barely touching as they felt the warmth of each other's breath on their lips.

It was so quiet that he almost missed it. But in that moment, her whispered "I love you" was the most beautiful sound he'd ever heard. He wasted no time in responding "I love you too".
