"Here I go! I set Meer, Coyte and Parro into the Link Markers! I Link Summon LINK-3, Salamangreat Heatleo!" A blazing lion with two dragon heads for hands emerged in flames.

"When Link Summoned I shuffle a Spell or Trap on your field back to your deck! I'm returning your Field Spell, Revolver!" Soulburner yelled as Heatleo opened up its two heads on its hands and two fiery streams slammed into it, wiping it out.
"He didn't use Savage Dragon's negation effect…" noted Flame.
"He's saving it for something else." Ai replied.
"Well I don't want to keep him waiting!" Soulburner smirked. "I use another Spell! Salamangreat Transcendence! I can Reincarnation Link Summon using one of my Link Monsters! GO, Heatleo!"
Heatleo burst into numerous flames and fired into the multiple link arrows on the circuit as Soulburner's second copy appeared.

"Heatleo's effect activates again! I destroy your set card, Revolver!" Heatleo unleashed his twin mouths once again.
"I better use it then! Quick Launch lets me summon a Rokket from my deck but it's destroyed during the End Phase! I summon Autorokket in defence position!"

"Heatleo's Reincarnation effect! I reduce one of your Monster's attack by one of my Monster's in my graveyard!"
"Then I'll negate that with my Savage Dragon!"

"At least we finally removed it." Blue Girl stated.
"And he still has Borreload and Transcode." Aqua added.
"I still have one more move!" Soulburner smirked. "I use the Spell Salamangreat Circle to add a Salamangreat to my hand and the Monster I need is Salamangreat Meer!"
"And when Meer is added to our hand outside of the Draw Phase, it can be summoned to our field!" Flame explained.

"Are you…?" Blue Girl questioned.
"Yes! I set Heatleo and Meer to Link Summon! Emerge LINK-4, Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix!" Firing down from the circuit was a tall, red-armoured warrior who had light purple aura for wings.

"Amazing!" Ai cheered.
"Let's not celebrate just yet." Playmaker reminded his Ignis.
"I've only known you for a little while but you're a spoil spoilt."
"Pyro's effect! I summon a Link Monster to your field from your graveyard!" Soulburner yelled.
"….What?!" Ai screamed as Dillingerous Dragon appeared.
Dillingerous Dragon ATK: 1600 Dark/Dragon/LINK-2/Up, Down
"What are you playing at?" Revolver replied.
"When you Link Summon a Monster I can hit you with the damage equal to its attack!"
"What?!"
Pyro Phoenix charged up a flame ball in its hands and launched the blaze right at the Hanoi leader which sent him flying across the ground.
Revolver LP: 2000 – 400
"Good but you gave him a LINK-2?" Blue Girl questioned.
"Yes but now he can't Link Summon without taking damage." Soulburner affirmed.
"If we attack Transcode, he can use Borreload's effect to reduce Pyro to 2300 thus resulting in mutal destruction." Flame said.
"We can still take out his Rokket!" Soulburner replied as Pyro blasted Revolvler's Autorokket away. "I set one card and end my turn!"
"Then during the End Phase, when a Rokket is destroyed, another can take its place!" Revolver said as he slowly walked back to the field
Anesthrokket Dragon ATK: 0 DEF: 2200 Dark/Dragon/LVL 1
"And I also have an effect which works during the End Phase! Thanks to Coyte being used as Link Material, Heatleo can be returned from my graveyard!"

"I did all I could do…." Soulburner said.
"It was good." Playmaker responded.
"Yes, you took him down to 400 and blocked him from Link Summoning…. for now." Blue Girl affirmed.
"I'm not going to let my father die without me being beside me!" Revolver shouted.
"I'm sorry for what SOL did to him but we can't let Earth die either!" Blue Girl replied.
"An AI with freewill over a human life…. you really are scum!" Revolver hit back.
"You're the one who is making us choose!" Soulburner said.
"All this technology… all it's done is ruin my life… Miyu's life…. your lives! I am trying to make sure this doesn't happen again but you seem intent on standing up for it…. so I'll have to blast you away with my own life if necessary!"

"I DRAW! I use Borreload's effect! I reduce my Anesthrokket Dragon's attack and defence by 500!"
Anesthrokket ATK: 0 DEF: 1700
"When Anesthrokket is targeted by a Link Monster's effect, I can destroy it! And when it is, I can negate a Monster's effect on the field and make it unable to attack…. I choose Pyro Phoenix!"
Anesthrokket turned into energy which flowed into Borreload. The dragon fired rapid light green blasts at Pyro which caused the figure to be engulfed in green energy.
"No!" Soulburner yelled.
"I am so far from being done. I now have everything I need to push my limits! I will now Link Summon… a LINK-5!"
"A LINK-5 is impossible." Blue Girl replied.
"Why is that so? Because no card in the system is a LINK-5? You can actually pull Monsters using a Skill!"
"To do that… would require incredible programming." Aqua stated.
"And the Hanoi are just that…" Playmaker added.
"We created this… just in case!" Revolver fired his hand into the sky and a huge breeze begun to sweep around the decaying virtual world. Purple data streams flew across. "I set LINK-3 Transcode Talker, Borreload Dragon and Savage Dragon!"
As the circuit appeared five lights shot into the sky from the Monsters.
"I Link Summon, LINK-5, Borrelend Dragon!"
Forming out of the data appeared a larger body of Borreload Dragon. This body had two large spikes on its back where energy wings appeared. This beast had three heads.
Borrelend Dragon ATK: 3500 Dark/Dragon/LINK-5/Up, Left, Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right
"LINK-5….. he actually did it…." Playmaker responded.
"This is the Hanoi's last stand." Revolver said. "It can't be destroyed by battle or card effects. It can't targeted by effects either! Borrelend also allows me to attack all your Monsters once each."
"Not good!" Ai yelled.
"I attack Pyro Phoenix!" Borrelend fired rapid blasts at Soulburner's Monster and wiped it out.
Blue Girl Playmaker Soulburner LP: 2000 – 1300
"Attack Heatleo!" Revolver yelled as the blasts wiped out the second Salamangreat.
Blue Girl Playmaker Soulburner LP: 1300 – 100
"You have one more chance…. I set one card and end my turn!"
"Damnit…" Soulburner hit the ground.
"We still have a 100 lifepoints!" Flame said to his partner.
"Yeah but…. Borrelend… that's a tough beast." Blue Girl replied.
"But we can't give up!" Aqua said.
"Yes! Earth is in danger… the anti data will soon find our new server… we can't stop!" Ai added.
"Our whole race depends on it." Flame said.
"And we need to stop the Hanoi… we need the closure." Playmaker stated. "Not just for us… but the Ignis."
"So you do care?!" Ai replied.
"I told you, I don't want a race to be wiped out." Playmaker responded.
"Back when we all started this mission we tried to get revenge but now we know we're fighting for more than that." Soulburner said.
"And this is where we finish it." Blue Girl said as she stepped forward.
"We'll decide it this turn!" Revolver yelled.
Turn 8

Blue Girl Playmaker Soulburner LP: 100 Hand: 1 1 1
"It's our turn!" Blue Girl yelled as she drew the card. "But… I have no idea how we can beat that thing…."
"We must have something…." Playmaker said to himself.
"Maybe we do." Aqua replied.
"You can't be thinking what I'm thinking?" Flame replied.
"If Revolver can create a new card…. we can call forth one of our own!" Ai yelled.
"You mean Storm Access?" Blue Girl said.
"Exactly." Aqua responded.
"But this isn't a Speed Duel?"
"LINK VRAINS has been destroyed…. this wind around us…. is a data storm."
"It's been broken out… it's around us." Flame said.
"All the Cyberse Monsters we stored away in the data storm when the Cyberse World got attacked… they'll also be destroyed…. they want to help!" Aqua added.
"Go ahead; it's only fair you use the greatest danger for your own cause!" Revolver said. "When I had the Wind Ignis… I could use that Skill…. I could see the dangerous Cyberse Monsters you all created!"
"There's only one person who is destroying, Revolver. And that's you!"
"During the Hanoi Project…. you three…. every one of the original six… you would've heard me…. I tried to support you all!"
"That person who reminded us of three things to remember?" Playmaker answered.
"Yeah, I heard him too…." Soulburner added.
"Even as a child I tried to help you…. I tried and tried"
"And you did…. that voice kept me going." Blue Girl said. "But…. clearly you went down the wrong path…."
Blue Girl raised her hand in the air as did Aqua.
"When our lifepoints are 1000 or less, we can use our Skill!" Blue Girl shouted.
"We activate Storm Access!" Aqua replied as the wind intensified. The purple streams surrounded Blue Girl as it engulfed her.
Blue Girl had to shield her eyes as the storm blasted around her.
"I can sense something…..!" Blue Girl saw a large shadow approach her.
"Of course he wants to help… Aoi, take it!" Aqua yelled from inside the duel disk as Blue Girl pushed herself to grab the shadow. She screamed as the wind battered her arm but she continued until she was able to touch it.
As soon as she felt it the shadow materialised as a card in her hand.
"Are you okay?" Playmaker asked.
"Yes, I'm fine…. we got it…" Blue Girl said, breathless.
"We need some help though." Aqua replied. "It's a LINK-4."
"Soulburner, use your Trap." Flame looked to him.
"Right! I use Call of the Haunted!"
"Bring back Transcode Talker!" Playmaker said.
"Understood! Return to our field, Transcode!" Soulburner yelled as the orange robot emerged.
Transcode Talker ATK: 2300 Dark/Cyberse/LINK-3/Up, Bottom Right, Down
"I use his effect!" Playmaker said. "I can summon a LINK-3 or lower Cyberse back to our field next to his link! Return Heatleo!" Playmaker ordered as Heatleo appeared next to Transcode.
Salamangreat Heatleo ATK: 2300 Fire/Cyberse/LINK-3/Up, Bottom Right, Bottom Left
"Thank you guys. I need two or more Cyberse Monsters so Transcode and Heatleo are enough! I set them to Link Summon!"
Transcode fired as three beams while Heatleo acted as the forth.
"Together!" Aqua yelled as she and Blue Girl raised their hands.
"Mighty protector of the Cyberse, arise from the depths of the stormy sea in order to defeat our deadly foes. I Link Summon! Come forth the dragon of the mighty sea, LINK-4, Firecode Dragon!"
A sliver light lit up the sky as a mist begun to appear around the duel field.
"What is this?!" Revolver said as appearing above the trio was a sliver-winged dragon with a white body. The wings flowed with data streams. It had blue spikes running up its spine along with Aqua's Cyberse symbol on its chest.
Firecode Dragon ATK: 2500 Water/Cyberse/LINK-4/Top, Bottom, Left, Right
"Firecode…. it's good to see it again." Flame said.
"Amazing!" Ai cheered.
"Where did that come from?!" Soulburner gasped.
"I guess this is one of the strongest Cyberse Monsters?"
"It's more than that." Aqua said. "It's one of the six guardians!"
"Six?" Blue Girl replied.
"It's another story for another day, focus on the duel!" Aqua said.
"Right!"
"We both come down to our dragons." Revolver said. "Both of our creations… Human vs. Ignis!"
"No! This is Ignis-Human!" Aqua replied. "That's what we are!"
"I play Monster Reborn to return Pyro Phoneix and I'll place him under Firecode's bottom link!" A flame erupted and Soulburner's Monster emerged.
Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix ATK: 2800 Fire/Cyberse/LINK-4/Up, Down, Left, Right
"I use Firecode's effect! Depending on the amount of co-links, I can target Monsters on the field or in the graveyard and banish them to give him 500 more attack!"
"Then I'll use Borrelend's effect! I target an effect Monster on the field and a Rokket in my graveyard! I negate your effect to summon a Rokket! You can't response to this card's effect activation either!"
"He still has counters…." Playmaker gritted his teeth.
"I return Anesthrokket Dragon in defence!"
Anesthrokket Dragon ATK: 0 DEF: 2200 Dark/Dragon/LVL 1
"I still have a card! I play Data Access! This Spell lets me use a Spell in either player's graveyard as long as I have a Cyberse on my field!"
"What Spell could possibly save you now?!"
"Playmaker'sCo-Link Up! My co-linked Monsters gain 1000 attack!"
"Nicely done." Playmaker responded in his calm manner.
Firecode Dragon ATK: 3500
Pyro Phoenix ATK: 3800
"Now we've all had a hand in this move!" Soulburner replied.
"I still have my set card! My Trap Borrel Cooling! I tribute a Rokket to equip this Trap to my Borrelend! This prevents it from being destroyed by battle this turn! I won't let you destroy the Hanoi's ultimate Monster!"
"All his comrade's feelings are into that card…." Aqua said.
"Pyro Phoenix attacks!" Blue Girl yelled as Soulburner's Monster unleashed a fireball from his hands which struck Borrelend but the dragon remained on the field while Revolver felt the pain from the hit.
Revolver LP: 400 – 100
"We're equal once again!"
"No we're not as Data Access has one more effect!" Blue Girl responded. "I banish it, The same Spell in my graveyard I targeted and pay halve of my lifepoints to allow me to reuse its effect!"
Blue Girl Playmaker Soulburner LP: 100 – 50
Firecode Dragon ATK: 4500
Pyro Phoenix ATK: 4800
"What?!" Revolver yelled as Blue Girl stood firm.
"Firecode Dragon… inser attack."
The spikes lit up brighter and a charge formed inside Firecode's mouth.
"End this!" Blue Girl yelled as the blue charge fired from Firecode's mouth which struck Borrelend. Revolver was hit by the blast and disappeared.
Revolver LP: 100 – 0 Blue Girl Playmaker Soulburner Win
"We… did it…." Soulburner collapsed to his knees.
"No. We have less than five minutes." Playmaker said as he looked at his duel disk.
"Get to the rooftop now! This data storm means we can get up there!"
The three quickly had their D-Boards appear and they flew up to the rooftop.
On top they saw Revolver slowly beginning to dissolve as Kogami held him.
"This stops here, Revolver!" Blue Girl yelled.
"You children have won…." Kogami said.
"Get out of the way." Playmaker said.
"I couldn't even say goodbye…." After he finished Revolver had dissolved away.
"Enough stalling." Blue Girl replied.
"Just bring him back…." Kogami said as the trio approached the cannon.
"Earth!" Aqua said as she saw the Ignis powering up the anti data.
"Okay, we're here." Blue Girl said to her duel disk.
"We're on it." Jin said.
"We've created a programme to cease the anti data." Kusanagi said to Playmaker.
"We're downloading it now." Emma said.
All three duel disks begun to download the programme into the cannon which caused the anti data to slow down before stopping. The data around them begun to stabilize and stopped dissolving.
The anti data had wiped out most of LINK VRAINS except the street they had been dueling on.
Earth was released from the cannon as he weakly flew out.
"Earth…." Aqua said as she went to him but before she could Ai had leapt in front to hug him.
"Oh, Earth! You're safe…. I'm so glad!"
"You…. are squashing me….!" Earth replied.
"You failed, Kogami." Soulburner said to him as he looked over the remains of LINK VRAINS.
"I did… but I hope you know what you've done. We were trying to save the world…. now everything which is to come is all on you!" Kogami firmly replied.
"And we'll make sure we prove you wrong." Flame responded.
"No, Ignis…. you will prove me right. It might be you…. or one of your creations, you will be the fall of this world." Kogami noticed he was about to dissolve away.
"We'll make sure we bring back everyone." Playmaker said.
"Since LINK VRAINS remains, yes, rebooting them from the mainframe will return them to life." Kogami said.
"And yet you're stuck inside LINK VRAINS… you can't face justice." Playmaker added.
"Correct…. SOL made sure they killed they real body… I can't return…. deleting LINK VRAINS would've destroyed my uploaded mind…"
"Well maybe this is punishment enough." Playmaker coldly answered. "Revolver and the rest of the Hanoi will go to jail… while you are sealed in here."
"No. I knew if we failed, Revolver would have had to lose…. I shall use everything I have to restore them all."
"But we can just reboot them!"
"Do you really think SOL will do that?! They will reboot LINK VRAINS but not the deleted souls. Everyone who we took…. we had to. But since you've won…. there's no need for their sacrifice."
Kogami begun to light up in a golden colour as he was giving up his life force.
"You owe me one answer!" Blue Girl yelled. "Spectre said SOL was hiding something from me?!"
"I'll leave that for you to find out." Kogami begun a golden glow which blinded the group.
"We need to log out." Playmaker said.
"But we can't?" Blue Girl said. "Hanoi still infected LINK VRAINS with that Ignis log out system...
"We stopped the anti data but… we can't return to the real world with you." Aqua looked down as she replied.
Appearing before them was Jin who logged in with Lightning.
"SOL will need to wipe the whole world clean and start again." The Light Ignis said. "Other worlds outside of LINK VRAINS have been destroyed so need the same processing. Since our immortality is now gone…. we can't be restored upon a reboot of the system. Mirror LINK VRAINS is the only world left and it's hidden and still alive."
"Our new home…." Earth replied.
"So this is it…." Blue Girl to Aqua.
"For now…."
"We had better go before SOL begin to act." Lightning said
"Well, Flame…. you're safe now." Soulburner said to his Ignis.
"And… make sure you stay safe." Flame added.
"Playmaker…. it's been fun." Ai said.
"Yes…. even though you're annoying…. you helped me find my closure…. I thank you for that."
"Do all your sentences have to be so long?"
"Lightning…. I'm glad you found your people and safe." Jin remarked.
"I will do my best as the Ignis leader." Lightning said. Lighting snapped his fingers at a yellow portal appeared. Flame and Ai went through along with Earth.
"Don't be too hard on Miyu…." Aqua said.
"We'll meet again, Aqua." Blue Girl smiled back.
"We will, Aoi." Aqua and Lightning went through the portal.
As it faded, both Soulburner and Blue Girl had tear droplets begin to form while Playmaker felt almost the same except he wasn't showing it. Jin accepted that they had to depart but still felt the sadness.
"We better go." Playmaker said as they all nodded and faded out.
A Day Later
Aoi, Takeru, Yusaku and Emma were at Kusangi's van along with Jin.
"SOL are having an emergency meeting…." Emma said as she looked at her tablet.
"Hanoi destroyed LINK VRAINS for a second time… and the data material can't be accessed now that the Ignis sealed it back up…. I don't envy them rebuilding it." Aoi replied.
"The Ignis are out of SOL's clutches for now." Playmaker added.
"But…. we don't know about the Hanoi." Jin said.
"Yes… we have no idea what they look like in the real world or where they live…. I have no doubt Kogami's sacrifice brought them back…. hopefully the police can track them down." Kusanagi said.
"Still… I feel like we stopped them for good…. the Hanoi will never be as strong as they were." Aoi said. "They used their own soldiers to power the anti data…. no one will ever join them again."
"True…. they can still rebuild in the shadows…. we would also be unwise to not keep track of SOL however." Yusaku said.
"Yes…. my brother is still in a coma in there…. I have a feeling whatever the Hanoi found out…. it has to do with him." Aoi replied.
….
In a tall circular building located in the far distance of Den City, Ryoken looked out at the sea in the far distance.
Behind him was a girl with shoulder length brown hair. She had a pink jumper with a black skirt and leggings with boots on.
"I just got word…. they found the others…."
"It makes sense…. SOL could track the back data to their login positions…. destroying LINK VRAINS weakened our cloaking." Ryoken said.
"What about us though?"
"They'll find us as well…. we don't have long, we need to leave Den City for now, Miyu."
"I'll go pack."
As Miyu departed Ryoken looked back out at the sea.
