Hello you beautiful people! Today it is time for chapter 23! Woohoo! Sorry, I'm a bit hyped up on sugar right now. We get to see what Piper and Grover are up to just now, so yay, and there is going to be some serious Percabeth bonding, so double yay! Alright guys, Imma need a little bit of help, please, please, please comment some songs I can use for Percy singing about Gabe or just, any songs that are about abuse or depression or things like that. Time for the chappie!
Percy's POV
"Annabeth wait up!" I called after her as she stormed down the stairwell. "Jeez you really don't want anyone eating your lemon sherbets do you?" I asked, when I caught up to her.
"Those are mine. Who knows the next time I'm gonna be in Grand Central Station? If Piper touches them, she will lose a hand." She said, as we walked out of the building.
"Remind me never to take your sweets." I laughed, bringing a smile to her face. We stopped in front of the store, "Wow, that's...big." I said, referring to the big cardboard display of a pilgrim holding a turkey in the shop window.
"They're really getting in the thanksgiving spirit." Annabeth remarked, laughing. "Oh! That reminds me!" She said, while we went in the store. "You want to cancel our calculus lesson on Wednesday right?"
"What? No. Why would I want to do that?" Why would I want to cancel? Anytime I spend with Annabeth is the highlight of my week, she's the highlight of my week - there's no way in hell I'm getting rid of that.
"Well I figured, since we have Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off, you would be going home for Thanksgiving." She explained, picking up a basket.
"Oh, right." Shit, forgot about that. "Yeah I am - I guess I do have to cancel. What about you? Aren't you going back to San Fransisco?"
"No. I can't afford the plane ticket, plus I'm not super enthusiastic about going to see my stepmother and the twins." She grabbed a few bags of sweets and shoved them in the basket, slightly aggressively. "So my Thanksgiving is going to be me, some chocolate, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
"What about Piper and Hazel? Are neither of them staying here?"
"No, Hazel's going home, and I'm not sure what Piper's doing, but she said she had plans."
"That sucks." So Annabeth really is going to be alone for Thanksgiving. Or maybe she doesn't have to be... I have an idea, hopefully it pans out.
"Nah it's fine. I'd rather do that than spend my money on a plane ticket just to see my family for a whole of four days. I'll go see them at Christmas." She said, sounding fairly happy with her decision. She picked up a couple bottles of soda from the shelf. "Which one?" She asked, holding out a bottle of Coca-Cola, and a bottle of Lemonade.
"Why not both?"
"I like the way you think." She smiled and put them both in the basket, completely forgetting about the topic of her Thanksgiving.
I yawned, "Ugh, I'm so tired." I really did not get enough sleep last night. Stupid nightmares.
She yawned too, and a frown spread across her face. "Percy, can I ask you something?" She asked, standing still and looking up at me.
"Sure." She's not gonna ask me about last night is she?
"What was...what was your nightmare about?" Shit. Do I lie? Do I tell her? If I tell her, I'm going to have to relive it, and I most certainly don't want to do that. But I don't want to lie to her either.
Fully intending to tell her, or at least, a kid friendly version, I started to speak. "Oh it was nothing." What are you doing Percy? "Just your average worst fear stuff." Stop lying to her. "Drowning and whatnot." Don't do this.
"Are you sure?" She looked really concerned, and it broke my heart.
"Yep, it was just a normal nightmare." My normal anyway. I plastered a fake smile across my face, hoping that it was convincing enough.
"Alright then..." She didn't seem to entirely believe me, but didn't say anything else either. We went to a self checkout counter and payed for the sweets, walking back to her house in silence.
Piper's POV
"Okay, so...what are we doing?" Thalia asked, raising an eyebrow at me. I had just announced that we weren't going to be playing truth or dare today, and everyone was giving be confused looks.
"I'll tell you in a sec. But first, hands up if you think Annabeth likes Percy." Naturally, everyone's hands went up immediately, and I laughed as I went to sit down on the sofa. "Okay, now hands up if you think Percy likes Annabeth." Every hand stayed up in the air, as I expected.
"What's the point in this fun little exercise Piper?" Jason asked, sitting down next to me.
"We're almost there Jason. Hands up if you think one of them will ask the other out by the time they get back." Not a single hand moved, everyone opting to choose that neither of them will confess while they're out. "Within a week?" Only Grover put their hands up. "Two weeks?" A few more, "A month?" Almost all hands were raised. "Ever?" Everyone but Nico raised their hands, the little goth choosing to sink into his beanbag and cross his arms instead. "Okay you can all lower your arms. But Nico, don't be such a downer."
"They are both cowards, they'll die before they confess." I rolled my eyes, ignoring him.
"Piper why are we voting on your best friend's love life?" Reyna asked, confused.
"Because, Reyna dear-"
"Don't call me Reyna dear."
"Because, Reyna, we are going to start a bet!"
She raised her eyebrow, "A bet?"
"Yes, a bet. Grover help me out here." I turned to the ginger haired boy behind me. "We came up with this together."
"Piper and I want to start a betting pool on when they'll ask each other out. There's twelve of us here, if we all put in ten bucks someone could make up to a hundred and ten dollars."
"I'm in!" She yelled, setting off a chain of 'Yeahs' and 'Let's do this's'.
"Great! Piper the box?" Grover asked, so I bent forward and reached under the sofa, where I had hidden the box.
"Here it is!" I held up the box that I had carefully coloured with markers, inspired by the 'long term bets' box from How I Met Your Mother. I set it down on the coffee table and unlocked it with the key that I had attached to a chain and fastened around my neck.
"You're keeping the key as a necklace?" He stifled a laugh, and I scowled at him.
"This is a very important key, it is never leaving my person."
He raised his hands in surrender, "Okaaay."
"Anyway," I began, "this is going to be the bet box." I pulled a pen and a notebook out of the box. "Everybody put ten dollars in the box, and I will write down who's voting for what." Everyone did as they were told and soon I was having ten dollar bills thrown at me.
"Right, I think it'll happen by next Sunday, anyone with me?"
"I am." Grover said confidently.
"Me too." Frank agreed.
"Really guys? They probably won't even see each other after Wednesday since it's Thanksgiving." Jason said, sceptical.
"I am 100% sure. And I'm always right." I can feel it, next Sunday, they will have told each other how they feel. I wrote down what everyone else was voting for, and just in time, because Percy and Annabeth got back just as I was slipping the box back under the sofa.
"We're back!" Annabeth announced, opening the door.
"Great! We were just finishing up truth or dare, weren't we guys?" Everyone nodded, all eager to hide the bet from them.
"Cool, have you decided on a movie?" She asked, dropping the bag of food onto the coffee table and collapsing onto a beanbag, followed by Percy who sat down on the beanbag next to her.
"Not yet, anyone got any suggestions?"
"Let's watch Rise of the Guardians!" Hazel yelled, louder than anyone else who was trying to suggest something.
"We are not watching a Christmas movie Hazel. It's not even Thanksgiving yet!" Reyna protested, a few people agreeing with her.
"It's almost Thanksgiving."
"But it's not almost Christmas."
"Fine." Hazel crossed her arms, "What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Are we even having a movie night next week?"
"I'm going to Portland to see my sister, I won't be back until Sunday." Reyna said, a smile coming to her face at the mention of her sister.
"I'll be in Canada with my grandmother, but I'll be here for movie night." Frank piped up. "What about you Hazel? Are you going anywhere?"
"New Orleans with my mum, but I'll be back on Friday night. Annabeth you're staying here right?"
"Yeah I am."
"So it looks like we'll be having our own movie night then, anyone else coming?"
"Jason, Nico, Thalia, and I are all going to my mum's so we'll still be here." Percy said, looking at Annabeth like he was planning something.
"That's six, Piper are you going home?"
"Nope, I'll be in New York."
"Where are you going?"
"Percy's."
"What?" Percy and Thalia asked in unison, neither of them knew I was going to Percy's - only Jason did.
"I invited her." Jason explained, "I already asked your mum Perce, and she's fine with it."
"Cool." Percy's face lit up, why is he so excited about his mum letting me come to Thanksgiving?
"Juniper and I aren't going to be here." Grover said, putting an arm around his girlfriend.
"Will? Calypso? Leo? You guys coming?" Hazel asked, still trying to find out how many people will be here.
"No, I'm not." Calypso replied, "Leo you're staying here aren't you?"
"Yeah I am."
"I'm not gonna be back until Sunday." Will said, and I thought I could see the tiniest hit of disappointment on Nico's face.
"So it's gonna be me, Piper, Jason, Leo, Percy, Leo, Annabeth, Frank, Nico, and Thalia here next week then."
"Yep." I agreed, "So shall we find a movie?"
"Wait!" Will yelled, getting up and standing in front of the TV. "Before we do, I have an announcement to make."
"You and Nico are officially boyfriend and boyfriend!" I yelled before he could say anything.
"No. Well yes-"
"Will!" Nico exclaimed.
"Go Nico!" Percy and Jason cheered, stupid grins on their faces.
"Anyway, the announcement. I am quitting my job at the coffee shop."
"But Will!" I protested, "How are you, me, and Annabeth supposed to gossip about her love life?"
"Piper!" Annabeth shouted, annoyed.
"We can gossip about her love life in other places Piper. But just now, I want to know if anyone wants my job."
"Percy why don't you take it?" Jason suggested, turning to his cousin. "You can get payed to make muffins with Annabeth on Sunday mornings instead of doing it for free!"
Percy glared at the blonde, and Annabeth's cheeks flushed pink. "Thanks for that Jason, but yeah I'd love to work there Will."
"Great! I'll tell Hestia then." Will, smiled, then went to sit back down.
"Can we finally watch a movie then?" I asked, picking up the TV remote. "How about Murder Mystery?"
There were a few murmurs of agreement throughout the room, so I pressed play on the movie and set the remote back down on the table. I looked over at Percy and Annabeth, her head was on his shoulder and his head was on top of hers. It was cute, they seemed a lot more comfortable with each other recently, a lot less awkward.
What is Percy's idea? Will we ever find out? Yeah we will in the next chapter, plus it's fairly obvious anyway. I'm sorry, this chappie was kinda short, but the next one is going to be long, and It's going to be fun! Well, not exactly fun, but It's going to be very interesting! Lol so I decided to pull a Rick Riordan today and start with the point of view that you weren't desperate for first! (i.e. Hazel's POV instead of Percy or Annabeth's at the start of House of Hades) I hope you guys liked the chapter! Thank you for all of comments, and please follow, favourite, and review!
