AN: Oh my gosh there were so many views yesterday, did something crazy happen? It was like over two thousand in ONE DAY! You all are insanely cool, for real. Now onto the reviews!
tiguylerobot: I agree that that would indeed be very cool if he could do that. The problem is that there's a very specific set of parameters required for him to be able to do give actual consciousness to an object that isn't directly part of his body. If he were to do it again, then he'd have to match those same parameters a second time. All of the parameters for doing so were laid out in the chapter that he created it, I wonder if anyone will figure out what they are?~
Entomoid: Simply put? Yes and no. While the material he's using is entirely carbon, it does start burning at a higher temperature than say, wood, but still not an incredibly high number. Todoroki could likely ignite it at the top end of his fire, to say the least about the stronger fire users in the story. That, however, is not the point of the ability. The point of it is to help defend him completely from his biggest weakness, being his shattering. Not everybody can shoot fire from their hands in MHA, but just about everyone has the physical strength to shatter Izuku's head if they choose to do so, so he chose to essentially prioritize his physical defense with this power, at the cost of his special defense, to take some Pokemon terms. He has other plans to help mitigate the fire weakness, including his costume being as fireproof as possible, among other things, but we'll just have to wait and see what else he has planned!
Izuku unclipped Kuromu from his belt, knowing that against Kirishima, it would be more likely to break against him than anything else. Once he was done, he rushed at his opponent, pulling back to punch Kirishima's chest, as the other boy retaliated with a similar punch to Izuku's stomach.
"Crack!"
Kirishima looked down to see a fault start running up the arm that had hit Izuku, and could feel the same happening to his chest.
"N-no way... it's even tougher than me?"
Izuku smiled at Kirishima as he slowly took another stance. "This power may prevent me from using any of my other materials, and slow me down, but when it comes to physical toughness? Virtually indestructible."
Izuku and Kirishima trades blows for a couple minutes, but anyone could tell that neither of them were in their element in that battle. Kirishima's fighting style revolves around hitting hard and trusting that his power would mitigate any damage to himself, but against Izuku's Black Diamond form he had to rely much more heavily on grapples and dodging.
Likewise, Izuku's style was more geared toward palm based attacks with his right hand, keeping his left arm and head guarded with the kinetic absorption of his jade, where now he found himself having to be the one to actually throw the punches himself. It was an odd sparring match, and neither won against the other, but it gave them both something to train on.
The next match, Izuku was up against a boy from 1-B named Jishakute, who had a plus sign on the back of his right hand, and a minus on the left, and was able to control metals around him. As he got in a stance to fight, he felt a hand tap his shoulder, but no one was there, so he disregarded it. Shifting back into his Black Diamond form so that Jishakute couldn't affect the bones in his legs anymore, he started to move forward when he heard something shatter to his left.
Monoma stood there, made of crystal like Izuku, and seemed to have tried to hit Kirishima in the chest like in the last round. His arm had shattered the moment it hit Kirishima, and Monoma stood there, stunned.
"I told you it was dangerous, Monoma," Izuku reminded as he walked over towards the two, "your quirk only copies the original format of a quirk, and not anything added afterwards, correct? Because the easily broken crystal is all I was born with, the rest of the powers I got later. Can you at least pull the shards back up to reform your arm?"
Monoma scrunched up his face in concentration for a moment, but shook his head, so Izuku sat him down and started rebuilding him, quite quickly, since the boy had so much practice reconstructing crystal limbs.
"Also, I thought you couldn't breathe in crystal form?"
"I've been copying your power every once in a while to practice," Monoma's voice came out, with that same tinny filter as Izuku's used to have, although since the USJ incident, Izuku's seemed to have gotten sharper, more akin to a normal person's voice.
He luckily managed to finish reconstructing Monoma's arm before the duration of his quirk ran out, because he really didn't want to see what would happen if it ran out while his arm was in pieces.
The rest of the matches continued without Izuku using any of his other new powers, since the element of surprise would be quite useful during the Sports Festival.
A little under two weeks later, as classes were about to end for the day, Iida got a call, and his face went pale as he talked to whoever was on the other end, Iida apologized and ran out of class, a first for the boy who was such a stickler for the rules.
The next day Izuku woke up to the news that the pro-hero Ingenium, Iida's older brother, had been permanently paralyzed from the waist down during a patrol in Hosu by the Hero Killer, Stain.
