Chapter 21
Maura and Jane loved family days like today, the last few weeks and months were spent packed full of various activities: swimming, horseback riding, going to the library, picnics in the parks, museums, soccer games and touring various tourists attractions, the kids were normally fed a and in bed early. Which allowed alot of time for Maura and Jane, to go out the all of Maura's favorite restaurants, to go out to the ballet, opera, also to attend art, cooking, dancing, and other classes, they also spend nights in cuddling, watching movies, and marathon love making. They also took different family's trips to The Bahamas, Greece, Belize, Grand Cayman, and a few other places.
Today was their last day in Paris, they were traveling back to Boston in the morning, they all enjoyed the last 5 months. The Sofia, Frost, and Connie had tutors to help keep up with their studies. Ava Grace was also being prepared for preschool, and enjoyed the activities that she was learning. All of the Rizzoli-Isles children were happy, and thriving. TJ had decided to stay with his Mom Lydia, Jane and Maura supported his decision, he still wanted to visit on holidays and weekends. Arthur and Constance would stay in Paris for another month, then return in time for the arrival of baby Rizzoli-Isles. Jane and Maura were still on a leave of absence, neither of them had discussed their careers. Both were content, happy and enjoying every minute of this.
Jane was encouraging, supporting and telling Maura to push, push, and to push one more time. The ear piercing wailing of the newest Rizzoli-Isles, let everyone know that Susie Faith Rizzoli-Isles, had arrived. 8 pounds 8 ounces, 20 inches long, with the same unruly hair as her Mama, arriving at 8:00 pm. Jane cut the cord, the nurses cleaned her up and places her on Maura's chest. Their family was now complete, both women were ecstatic, crying, and kissing each other. Jane kept saying thank you over and over again, kissing her wife's and daughter's head, saying I love you. Susie latches onto her Mommy's breast and smiling she looks at Jane and says she is just like her Mama, she is a boob woman. Jane says well she knew what she like and they are awesome, laughing. They were both released 24 hours later and was welcome home by excited grandparents and siblings.
It was 7 months later that both women were requested again to return to work by the Governor, Mayor, Lt Cavanaugh, and BPD. Jane returned to work two weeks before Maura. She returned to her position as Segerant-Detective over the Homicide division. Korsak had also returned to assist with their present case. Maura was consulting from home in order to assist them, the older kids were preparing to return to school, Ava Grace had surgery to have tubes put in her ears and her tonsils taken out, she had a reaction to the anesthesia she was given, she was a bit clingy and only would allow her Mommy to hold or touch her. Jane was already stressed out worrying about Ava Grace, adding the stress of the case, she was not eating, having nightmares, and was ready not sleeping. There had been 5 bodies of murdered females found in surrounding area of Mass General Hospital. The killer had left little evidence behind, the sick asshole had driven scalpels through the dead womens' hands, and whoever it was was making fun of homicide division. It had been kept from Maura, and today by mistake she found out about it, because Kent could not keep his big mouth shut. He was only allowed back in the morgue because Korsak, Jane and Maura had gave their word to the Governor that he would only allowed to work under the supervision of Maura or them. Going in search of her wife, Maura walked into the bullpen, not seeing her, she ask Korsak if he knew where Jane was? Seeing the worried look on Maura's face, he asked her if she was alright? Shaking her head no, she told him what she had just learned about the murdered females and why was that information kept from her. He told her that Cavanaugh request that she not be told until she was back full time as the Chief Medical Examiner, he also told her that Jane was struggling with not being able to tell Maura and she also was feeling like it was an apprentice that Hoyt might have trained and that Jane was starting to question if she could protect Maura and their children, and that Maura could find Jane in the gym. Maura cried in Korsak's arms, pulling herself together, stepping into her office bathroom, she cleaned herself up, and went to the gym.
Entering the gym, Maura saw her badass wife repeatedly punching the bag, she could tell Jane's hands were hurting, her back, and her balance due to exhaustion. Watching her not wanting to interrupt her wife, she could tell that her wife was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. As Jane went to jab the punching bag again she miscalculated and it slamming into her right side and knocking her on the ground. Jane started to punch the mat on the floor, saying, Mother Fucking Son of a Bitch, Fuck. As she was trying to get holding her side, trying to catch her breath, she felt Maura wrapping her arms around her, helping her to get up, and remain standing. Looking into the amazing hazel eyes of her wife, Jane just leaned on her as Maura assisted her in walking to Maura's office closing the doors, she helped Jane to the sofa and got her settled, she drew the blinds, quickly running grabbing her Medical bag, ice packs, towels, some pain relievers that she kept in her purse for Jane and ace bandages, she returned to find her badass beautiful wife quietly crying. Rushing to her side, she sat down and pulled Jane into her arms, hugging her tightly, she kept reassuring her everything was going to be fine, kissing Jane's head gently.
She told Jane she knew about the females' hands. She held Jane until she finally stopped crying, helping her to Maura's private bathroom, Maura stripped her clothes off and wife's clothes off, assisting her wife with a quick shower, she examined, cleaned her wife's bloodily bruised hands, wrapped them and her bruised ribs, she helped Jane dress in one of the extra sets of clothes that she kept in her private bathroom. She quickly dressed fixed her hair and touched up her makeup, she brushed Jane's unruly black hair, and pulled it up into a ponytail. She led Jane back to her sofa, and told her to sit down. She called Korsak told him where Jane was and what happened, and he agreed to handle things in the bullpen. She said she was ordering food, her toold her to called in whatever they wanted to the Dirty Robber, and he would have KiKi bring it to Maura. She thanked him and was turning to go back in her office when Kent stopped her, saying he needed to apologize. Holding her hand up, Maura just went back into her office and locked the doors, Korsak and Jane had a key to get in. She needed to take care of Jane, and be there for her. She gently lifted her wife's head and sat down placing her head back in her lap, gently massaging her wife's beautiful, bruised hands, kissing them, Jane had fallen asleep, in her wife's arms, she would let Jane sleep for two hours, 30 minutes before she would wake Jane she ordered their food from the Dirty Robber, about minutes later she started to gently, slowly kiss, and softly call Jane's names. As she kissed Jane's lips, Jane opened her eyes, and moaned as she pulled Maura into a more intense kiss, panting she tell Maura that she loves being woke up like that. Sitting up, blinking her eyes a few times, she rubbed her face she looks around and ask Maura her did she get in her office, last thing she remembers was being in the gym. As Maura was getting ready to answer her, a soft knock on the office door and KiKi saying it was her with their food. Opening the door she greeted KiKi thank her and asked if she wanted to join them, declining saying she had Korsak and her lunch upstairs. Maura placed Jane and her food on the coffee table gathering bottles of water, sat down and they ate, talked and just held each other.
Both of their phone rings at the same time calling them to a crime scene near Mass General. They rode to the scene together, holding Jane's hand, Maura reassured her that they would solve this case soon. As the crossed under the yellow crime scene tape, identified themselves, they saw Korsak directing the uniformed officers, and crime techs. Looking at the blonde hair dead woman's body, hands had scalpels in them, as they rolled the body over carved into the stomach of the woman was Victor 825. Maura fell back, looking up at Jane, she could see the fear and terror in her eyes. Maura telling her crew to collect all the evidence and get the body back to the morgue, ASAP. Jane quickly turn hurrying away to her cruiser, finally catching up to her wife, she witness Jane bending over emptying the contents of her stomach, and listening to her trying to catch her breath. Reaching out to her wife, as Jane was turning around, she fainted in Maura's arms, Maura was yelling for Korsak and help, was the last words Jane heard.
