Lils POV

I pulled up outside the Cullens' place, heart pounding in my chest. I knew that I would have to tell them the truth, and could only hope that they hadn't already found out. I jumped out, masking my scent, thoughts and bruises, walking up the steps to knock on the door. Jasper opened it, looking confused when he saw me.

"Lils. Why... no, come in." He stopped himself from asking the buzzing questions that were so obviously on his mind, ushering me inside. We sat on the sofa, gazing out into the forest.

"I'm really sorry just to turn up out of the blue like this." I managed to squeeze out.

"No, it's fine- but I'd like to know why, if that's okay with you." He replied, watching me curiously.

"You're not going to like it." I sighed. "Just promise not to go crazy straight away, yeah?" Jasper nodded, and I shifted into my true form, keeping my eyes closed. He exhaled a long breath.

"Fuck. How long have you known?" He asked. I opened my eyes slowly.

"Since the Volturi turned up. They're my mates, Jasper. They threatened the pack, because they wanted them to become an elite fighting force and I had to save them. The pack know, but they think that I betrayed them, so I need to make it up to them..." I trailed off as I almost convulsed with sobs.

"Do you mind if I ask you some questions, about yourself?" Jasper was extremely calm. I nodded. "How old are you?"

"2784." I answered and he let out a long whistle.

"Holy fuck. What's your gift?"

"To absorb other vampires' powers. I can drain someone until they are lifeless, but more often than not, all it takes is a touch. No one has ever noticed." I explained.

"Why did you lose your memory?" Jasper wanted to know.

"I had just told the Volturi a secret that ripped them apart. They needed time to reconcile their differences, so I was in my shifter form driving away when my car got hit by a train." I told him.

"So you can transform into anything? Even animals?" He looked more intrigued than anything else.

"Yes. I can't believe that you're taking this so well." I replied.

"What did you expect? I'm not feeling betrayed, or anything because I know that you did not mean harm. You just needed to figure some things out. Anyway, can you shift into a copy of me? Or Alice? Could you be a lion?" He was animated now, patently wanting to explore my gift further. I nodded, transforming myself into him, then Alice, then a lion. I roared slightly, grinning through my mane. "Bollocks to fuck! That's cool. Where are you from, originally?" I shifted back to my natural form, summoning a suit and settling back into the couch.

"Ireland. I was a shifter, and got bitten by a vampire." I let my natural accent out, the lilting vocabulary soothing.

"What about the marines?" Jasper questioned. I fidgeted a bit, playing with the lapel of my dark green blazer.

"I got some time off." I replied cagily.

"Why?" Jasper prodded, not letting the subject drop.

"Because I was raped." I snapped, voice hard. Jasper's expression shifted from shock to anger to sadness.

"Oh Lils." He breathed, restraining himself from reaching out.

"Look, you can touch me. I only absorb power when I want to, the same with any other skills. I can turn them on and off." I told him.

"Can you show us everything that you can do?" Carlisle asked from behind me. I jumped, baring my teeth subconsciously.

"Sorry. Yeah, sure." I smelled Jared and Paul's familiar scents. "I think the first one will be cloaking myself from the senses." I murmured, doing just that as the wolves knocked on the door. Jasper looked to where I had just vanished.

"Okay, if that's what you want." He said, equally as quiet. Carlisle opened the door, ushering the two men inside.

"Hello, what can I do for you?" He asked, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. They fidgeted and cleared their throats.

"We kinda need to speak to Jasper." Jared told Carlisle, who nodded and showed them through to the living room where Jasper was waiting. Carlisle left, citing something about Emmett.

"Hey, you look like the dead, or maybe it's the undead." Jasper joked, even as a vein of truth ran through his words. Neither of them cracked a smile, instead sending furtive glances around the room.

"Jasper, we thought you should know that Lils is a 2784 year old vampire who can absorb other vampires' powers. And that she got raped, and we made her go away, by mistake and we're worried that we'll never see her again." Paul gabbled, face full of pain.

"Woah, slow down there. What do you mean Lils is a vampire?" Jasper was letting his unrestrained shock cloud his features.

"She was in Belize, and the Volturi attacked us, wanting us to fight for them. They had knives to our necks, and I thought that we'd never make it out alive, so, before we dismantled the bond on the Volturi's command, I whistled a song, just for Lils. It was hopeless, but at least I could say that I tried. She turned up in a matter of minutes, looking different to how she usually does. If she hadn't of whistled back, I would never have known. Anyway, the Volturi were super freaked out and she brought down a darkness that allowed us to escape. When we had, she made sure that we didn't attack each other. She said that she was sorry, and then disappeared, until the night before last. I woke up, hearing something coming from her room. Boxes of things were moving around, but I couldn't see her. She appeared, and apologized again, saying that she understood that she had betrayed us. Lils said that she would leave. Then, I smelled a man on her, but she didn't want to talk, not really. Jared came in and told her to leave, and she did." Paul explained. My heart clenched as he pressed a hand to his head.

"We needed to tell you, because we thought you should know. Lils might show up here, and if she does, please help her." Jared's voice trembled in pain.

"Okay, I will." Jasper agreed. Surreptitiously, I transformed into a fly, going out through the window and, transforming again into a small silver bird, I perched on the window ledge. I opened my beak and sang, attracting their attention. Jasper smiled, as Paul and Jared stared, too lost to really notice.

"We'd better get back." Jared said, rising from his seat. I watched as they headed off, pain clanging through me. When I was sure that they weren't going to return, I shifted back, ignoring the look on Jasper's face.

"Well, Carlisle wanted a demonstration, so I guess we'd better get going. I'll need to be quite far away from humans for some of my... tricks." I told him, sweeping out of the room. "Right, I know you're all listening, so you might as well come too." I added, to whoever else was in the house. We assembled on the front steps, and without a second thought, I sprinted to the heart of the forest, the rest of the Cullens behind me. I stopped in an enormous clearing, gazing around at the family. Nessie was indeed looking like an adult, and the rest of them, of course, hadn't aged a bit.

"So, what can you do?" Emmett asked excitedly. I raised an eyebrow, transforming into an exact copy of him. "Freaky!" He cried. I shifted back.

"Yeah, I can transform into literally anything, just in case." I smirked. "Hey, Edward, you're fast. Want a race to the end of the clearing and back?" Edward looked a bit apprehensive, but nodded.

"Go!" Alice yelled, and I blurred there and back, taking only a second.

"That's how I get from Belize to Forks." I told them, as they looked on in shock. A light spattering of rain hit the floor.

"Is that you too?" Emmett asked, looking awed.

"No, sweetheart. If it was me, it'd be something more like this." I said, staring at them as thunder and lightning cleaved the air.

"Wow, is there anything you can't do?" Jasper murmured.

"I don't think so, apart from time travel, so far." I replied, feeling a little self conscious.

"No. I bet you can't split into two people." Emmett tried. I gazed at him as a perfect replica of myself walked round me.

"An interesting request." I started.

"One that we have not had in a long time." The double carried on.

"But entirely doable." We- I- chorused.

"Shit." Emmett breathed. Feeling soaked, I put a stop to the crashing thunder, and subconsciously crafted a chair from the ground. They all gaped.

"Holy fuck." Jasper stuttered. Esme tutted slightly.

"Well, unless there's anything else you'd like to see, I'm going inside to... be." I told them, feeling very odd. It had been a long time since I had used my powers properly, and strangely enough, I didn't feel like I was anywhere near reaching my full potential. I just felt unfulfilled. I blurred back, arriving in seconds and throwing myself onto the couch. Heavy tears stung at the corners of my eyes, but I didn't let them fall. The Cullens arrived back a few minutes later, looking a little awed. I sighed, turning away slightly; Jasper ignored my subtle message, coming to sit by me.

"Hey, are you okay?" He asked, shooting me a worried look. I sighed again and pasted a smile onto my face.

"Yeah, great! Just a bit overwhelmed." I said, false-cheeriness grating in the air. Jasper frowned.

"Bullshitter." He stated. I shook my head.

"Fuck off." I told him, turning away.

"Okay. If you need to talk..." Jasper trailed off, leaving the room.
