Twenty One
Maggie's gaze slowly traveled the length of my body, her tongue peeking out to wet her lips before meeting my eyes with hers. I found that extremely intriguing. I wondered to myself for a moment if maybe there was another way to go about this situation. I'd have to talk to Edward and see how he thought we should proceed.
"Everyone knows everything about me, do they? Mind enlightening me?" I smirked at her.
"Well, Black Widow," She brushed her hair over her shoulders. "From what I recall hearing about you, you're not exactly the type to lay down and roll over when anyone tells you to, much less a man. In fact, you came after my husband, didn't you?"
I waved her off. "Maybe I'm just tired of the games. Maybe I'm in love. As for your husband, I couldn't pick him out of a lineup if I had to."
"Love?" Maggie scoffed. "I don't believe a word that's coming out of your mouth."
I zipped up my clutch, meeting her in front of the door. "I'd appreciate it if you let me leave. I'm sure my fiancé is looking for me."
"I know you know the truth about me, Isabella. You're a smart, conniving woman. I've always admired you and how you've just gone about your business, not giving a fuck what others think. I didn't have that luxury, and to see you just throw it away..."
Her words froze me in place. I didn't know what to think or believe. Nothing about tonight was going how I'd expected. Who would have thought Maggie would stand here in front of me, singing my praises and telling me she admired me? Something didn't add up, unless...
"You have a funny way of showing your admiration." I smiled.
"What do you mean?"
"How about we stop playing these games on both sides, how does that sound? Do you really expect me to believe any of the shit that's coming out of your mouth? Let's just get straight to the point: I know you stole my shipments."
"Oh, that." She grinned. "I wanted your attention and, obviously, it worked. Now you stop playing your game and be honest; why the hell would you step down without a fight?"
Sighing heavily, I readied myself to bring my acting skills to fruition. "You want the truth? It wasn't my fucking choice! How do I go against my father? He had this entire thing planned. This"—I raised my left hand, showing her my ring before ripping it off and throwing it across the bathroom—"is fucking bullshit. I hate this! I hate him!"
She stepped closer to me, her heels clicking on the floor. Reaching out, she tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear before leaning in. "Then kill him," she whispered, her lips grazing my earlobe. "Kill him, and then we'll run this entire city together. We'll show Chicago what two of the baddest bitches can do. What do you say?"
I bit my lip, looking her up and down and letting my eyes linger on her cleavage before my gaze drifted to her lips. "Yes." I cupped her cheek before pressing my lips to hers, kissing her roughly. She gasped before threading her fingers through my hair, kissing me back with just as much force.
I pulled back after a few moments, reaching past her and unlocking the door. "I'll see you soon, Maggie," I murmured as I slipped past her and hurried down the hall, hoping that Edward would be ready to go.
::BW::
Thankfully, it wasn't long before I found him.
"Isabella, I've been looking for you all over." He placed a hand on the small of my back.
"Sorry, I got caught up in the bathroom; girl talk. Are you ready to go?"
He raised an eyebrow before leaning in and pressing a kiss to the corner of my mouth. "Do you have something to tell me?"
"Yes, but obviously not here." I glanced around the room. "Have Emmett and Jasper checked the car?"
"Of course. Now, let's go."
I turned on the light in the back of the limo, running my fingers through my hair before unzipping my clutch and dumping the contents onto the seat beside me, riffling through it.
"Mind telling me what you're doing?" Edward asked as he watched me.
"I'm checking to make sure there were no bugs planted on me. After the night I had—" I blew out a breath. "Well, if you'd had the night I had, you'd do the same."
"Do you plan to tell me what has you so worked up?"
"I kissed Maggie."
"You—and I missed it?" He grinned as I rolled my eyes. "Exactly how did this happen?"
"Apparently, stealing my shipments was a ploy to gain my attention. She wants me to kill you and run Chicago with her. She looked at me like she wanted to eat me! She's a hard one to read. I don't know how much of it I believe, nor do I really care if she's telling the truth. She took what's mine."
He raised an eyebrow. "So you kissed her?"
"Yes. I wanted to run it by you first, but the opportunity presented itself. We're taking an alternate route now."
"And what route is that?"
I hiked up my dress as I climbed onto his lap, straddling him. Threading my fingers through his hair, I attacked his mouth with mine. "I'll seduce her, and then I'll kill her. I think everyone could use a reminder of why they call me the Black Widow, don't you?"
He ran his hands over my thighs before reaching around and cupping my ass. "I've got just one question."
I leaned in, kissing and sucking at his neck. "What's that?"
He lifted his hips, and I felt him hard and straining against his pants. "Will you let me watch you fuck her?"
A/N: Who would have thought their meeting would take a turn in that direction? It's time for the Black Widow to weave herself a web and catch her prey in the best way she knows how, by seducing them.
