Continued from the last chapter...
Jamie paid the pizza guy and then Eddie came home right after he shut the door.
"Hey honey!" Eddie said seeing him already at the door holding the pizza he just paid for. She greeted him with a kiss and a smile.
"How was your appointment?" He asked.
"It was good! You're going to be so excited, we can-" Jamie cut her off.
"Did you see Nicole was here?" He said shutting her up before she embarrassed herself.
Oh hello! Sorry I'm running late, nice to meet you! I'm Eddie." She said and shook Nicole's hand. She felt a little bit of mama bear coming out when she saw her baby in a strangers arms, it kinda hit her she was going back to work soon and have to leave her with this girl most likely. Jamie could tell Eddie was a little uptight and uncomfortable.
"Nicole, nice time meet you also!" She shook her hand and said while she held the baby. Alaina started to whine and fuss in Nicole's arms a little, Eddie wanted to automatically take her from Nicole. Jamie watched from the kitchen to see what happened.
"Oh she's probably hungry, here..." Eddie said putting her arms out to take her. Nicole handed her over to Eddie.
"Hi sweetie, aww I know, did you have fun with cousin Joe today?...I saw you were being a good girl, yes I did." Eddie said in her sweet baby voice looking at her, she stopped fussing, Nicole just stood there watching and smiling at how cute she was.
"Pizza is here, get it while it's hot." Jamie called out. Nicole went over and got a slice while Jamie went over to Eddie, she was rocking Alaina back and forth talking to her.
"She just ate before you got home, Joe was finishing up when I got home." Jamie quietly told her so she wouldn't be embarrassed in-front of Nicole.
"Oh...well maybe I should go change her." Eddie said as an excuse. Jamie nodded and watched her walk off to the nursery. He was a little concerned how this was going to go now, after seeing she had a little bit of a guard up.
When Eddie came back out with her she got a piece of pizza and joined Jamie and Nicole at the table.
"So Nicole tell me, have you had a lot of experience with babysitting or nannying?" Eddie asked.
"Yes, I've been babysitting since I was in high school, I watched one family's 3 kids for the summer every year, and then after I graduated I nannied for a family who had 2 kids for about a year. I stopped to go do mission work with my parents and I went to college." She said and took another bite of pizza.
"Nice, so how old where those kids?" Eddie asked taking a drink.
"The family of 3, they were 11, 6, and 3, When I started watching them and then the other family had a 2 year old and a newborn when I started with them." She said.
"Oh okay, so you've just watched the one newborn until they were how old?" Eddie asked.
"Until he was a little over a year." She answered. Eddie nodded her head.
"Um so you mentioned you went to college? What college and what did you go for?"
"Villanova, and I have my masters in social work." She said.
"Nice, Villanova...that's not an easy school to get into." Jamie said.
"Ha no it's not." Nicole said.
"How big of a party school is that?" Eddie asked bluntly but also nonchalantly.
"Eddie..." Jamie said giving her a look.
"What I think as a police officer, sergeant, it's a valid question." Eddie said defending herself, Nicole laughed.
"No It's okay, It's actually not much of a party school, I wasn't really into it though anyway." Nicole said.
"But you did a little?" Eddie asked.
"Eddie." Jamie tried to stop her again.
"I really don't mind the questions, I completely understand, I would be the same way. I went to maybe 3 parties, I could never get into drinking or smoking, I drink a glass of wine every once in a while now though but that's it." She told her.
"And there's nothing wrong with that." Jamie said giving Eddie a look and taking a drink.

They finished eating and Eddie ended up handing Alaina over to Nicole so she could get a feel for her. She did great. She stopped her from fussing when she did and she was very gentle with her, talked to her nicely, was patient. There were no flaws in this girl.

"So I have a question for you guys, if you'd want me to do this job what would the hours be like and what other work would be involved, like cleaning? Cooking?" She asked.
"Oh we wouldn't need you to do any cleaning or cooking." Eddie said shutting that down right away.
"We both work day shifts. However being cops you're not always guaranteed getting to leave right at 5 or whatever. That's out of our hands sometimes, we get our schedule a month at a time, we're both off on Sunday's, we only work every other Saturday, so you'd only need to work 2 Saturday's. The week we work Saturday we have another day off though. As far as the hours, my guess is it will be something like 8-4." Jamie said.
"That sounds great! I have nothing other then church on Sunday so I'm good for whatever you got, I just wanted to know if I'd have to do nights or anything." She said.
"You shouldn't, we would let you know as soon as we knew though." Eddie said.
"We could write up when we would need you for a month at a time and then you'd just let us know if there was a day day you couldn't do, we'd work it out." Jamie told her. She nodded her head agreeing.
"What kind of hourly rate did you have in mind?" Eddie asked.
"Oh I don't know. Honestly if it's more then minimum wage I'm good with it." She said and laughed.
"Oh that's not even an option, this is a big deal for us, your services would be worth more." Jamie said.
"Tell you what, I think we're good here. Me and Jamie will talk, you go home and think everything over and we can give you a call in the next few days and let you know?" Eddie asked wanting her to politely leave this was a lot.
"Sounds great! Thank you so much for lunch, and she's seriously the sweetest." Nicole said and handed her to Eddie who smiled trying to act fine and natural. Jamie showed her out.
