RWBY: Keep Moving Forward

Chapter 22

A few days later

"You sure you want in on this?" Dean asked his mom. The two were at Junior's, preparing to attack the warehouse the A.F.G members were hiding in.

Abi, who looked much better after a few days rest and a couple decent meals, tightened her knee-high boots. "I might be a bit rusty, but I'm still a Huntress." Abi told her son.

"Yeah, but-"

"They murdered our family." Abi cut Dean off. "And you know where two of them are. I'm not letting you go in alone."

"I wasn't going to..." Dean trailed off. "I have a few friends that I was going to call in to help. They're not the most innocent people, but they don't mind getting their hands dirty."

"That's good." Abi said as she tied a scabbard to her hip. Junior handed her a katana, per her request. Glancing over the blade, Abi sheathed it before facing her son. "Having friends like that'll be good."

Glancing at Junior, Dean spoke in a whisper. "They want to destroy Beacon."

"Why?"

"I don't know." Dean shrugged. "But I made a deal: if I help them, they'll help me find the bastards that killed Sae and dad."

Abi was silent for what felt like forever. "Well, it doesn't really bother me."

Dean was taken back by this. "What makes you say that?"

Abi looked at her son. "While I was looking for you, I did a bit of research on those Faunus hunters that attacked us." she paused. "Most of them graduated from huntsmen schools like Beacon."

Dean couldn't help but grow angry at the news. "The schools are nothing like I thought they were."

"They deserve to perish." Abi told Dean. "The Faunus hunters, and the huntsmen academies. If they train people like that, then-"

"I know." Dean nodded. After a few seconds, he began to chuckle.

"What?" Abi asked.

"It's just..." Dean took a second to compose himself. "I figured you'd try to tell me what I was doing was wrong. That it wasn't right. Yet you've agreed with me."

"Well, it's a valid way of seeing things." Abi said.

Finishing with preparations, Dean showed his mom the picture of the A.F.G members still in Vale. "These are the two that we're hunting down today."

Upon seeing the two, Abi pointed at the man with the black hair. "He's the one who shot me."

"Then I'll leave him to you." Dean said. Putting the photo away, Dean pulled out his scroll. "Do you want me to call in some favors, or should we deal with this ourselves?"

"Call your friends." Abi told him. "I want to make sure they don't escape. But tell them that we put those dogs down."

"Will do."

Calling Roman and Cinder, Dean told them what the plan was.

An hour later

Approaching the warehouse, Dean stopped and turned around to face the others. Cinder brought along Mercury and Emerald with her while Roman brought the silent, but deadly, Neopolitan.

"Who's the woman?" Roman asked, gesturing to Abi.

"I don't like working with people I don't know." Mercury said as he crossed his arms.

"I am curious about her." Cinder said softly.

"Right." Dean gestured to Abi. "This is Abigail Marston. My mother."

Everyone fell silent. "Your mother?" Emerald repeated. "Isn't she dead?"

"Left for dead, actually." Abi corrected. "I was shot and left to die like 'the animal I was'."

"Well, I can see where you get most of your features, Deano." Roman said as he rubbed his chin, smiling. "Your mom is quite the looker."

"Dude..." Mercury stared at Roman.

"Thank you for the compliment, but let us focus on the task at hand, yes?" Abi said before turning towards the warehouse.

"Me and mom will go in to deal with Simon and Paul." Dean said. "Neo, I want you to come with us. You're silent and efficient."

"What about the rest of us?" Mercury asked, stepping forward.

"You will be outside, making sure they don't escape." Abi told them. "If they somehow manage to get out, incapacitate, don't kill."

"Will do." Cinder said softly as she placed a hand on her hip.

"Good. We need at least one alive to see if they have any info on the othets." turning around, Dean, Abi and Neo all walked towards the warehouse while the others moved to surround it from the bushes.

Approaching the font doors, Dean looked to Neo. "Think you hide from sight?"

Neo replied by smiling before vanishing before his eyes. "Let's go."

Abi and Dean both raised one foot, kicking opened the doors at the same time. Hearing a crash from further inside, Dean and Abi pulled out their weapons.

Suddenly, the two A.F.G members rushed out to see the commotion. "Who the hell are you?!"

Dean replied by shooting the man in the shoulder. Falling to one knee as he held his wound, Dean smirked.

"Simon Phillips." Abi said softly. The man still standing turned his head to face her. "I believe the last time we met, you shot me." raising the gun Junior had lent her, she aimed it at Simon, firing a shot into his right leg.

"This is pathetic." Dean said. "Fight back! At least make it a challenge!"

Glancing around the abandoned warehouse, Dean noticed two suitcases in front of the office door. "Did we catch you two in the middle of packing?"

Seeing the two weren't going to provide much of a fight, Neo stopped using her semblance. Standing next to Dean, she crossed her arms as she stared at the two A.F.G members.

As Simon held his side, trying to stop from bleeding out, Abi walked over to him. Glaring down at him, she spoke to her son without looking back at him. "We don't need them both, right?"

"He's all yours." Dean told her.

Raising her katana, Abi was about to kill him when Dean stopped her. "Mom, wait!"

Stopping with her blade just inches above his neck, Abigail looked at her son. "What?"

"Let's take that one with." Dean said. "Take our time with it. After all, don't you think he'd be getting off a bit easy?"

Abi couldn't help but agree with him. "You're right." she sheathed her blade. "We don't need them both, do we?"

"No."

Pulling out her gun, Abi aimed at Paul and fired a round into his head. "You have a place we can take this one?" Abi asked as she glared down at Simon.

"I know a place."

"Good." raising her foot, she kicked him in the face, knocking him out cold.
