Marinette walked to school the next day, mind running wild with thoughts. Chat had left sometime in the night after she fell asleep. She was lost deep in thought.

"...Marinette?" A voice came from in front of her. She was woken from her trance to find Adrien in front of her. Her eyes widened.

"A-Adrien?!" He chuckled. He smiled his dazzling smile and her heart raced. She was not mentally prepared for this.

"You look really nice today, did you do something different with your hair?" She brushed a hand over her pigtail. She had been in a rush like usual. She felt a surge of confidence at his words.

"N-no, but thank you!" She smiled brightly as they made their way into the school. Alya and Nino caught up to them. Alya raised her eyebrows at Marinette when she saw the two together.

They got into class and everything went by as usual. Marinette stared at the boy in front of her. He had always been friendly but now he was being too friendly. It reminded her of a certain someone she couldn't place.

"Alright class, now partner up," Marinette hadn't been paying attention at all. She looked to Alya who had already chosen Nino as her partner. She cursed herself for getting lost in thought so often.

"Do you need a partner, Marinette?" Adrien came up to her and she blinked in shock. Alya and Nino both whispered to each other.

"Yeah actually that'd be great," she didn't know what got into him but she wasn't going to turn him away. He sat down in Alya's seat and they got to work.

"If you haven't finished your projects today please get together and finish them by Monday," the teacher announced. Marinette stood from her seat as Adrien followed, talking to her about what they had worked on.

Marinette stopped in her tracks when she saw Luka walking out of the main entrance. He hadn't seen her but the memory of yesterday flooded back. Guilt tugged at her heart. Did she really have any right to feel so happy about Adrien when she had broken Luka's heart just yesterday?

"Marinette?" Adrien almost bumped into the girl who had stopped walking. He followed her gaze to Luka who was walking away. He saw her down expression and pulled her to the locker room.

"W-what?" Marinette was pulled along, confused as to what was happening.

"Don't think about him anymore," Adrien stared into her eyes. He hated seeing her hurt. It felt as if he could feel her pain. Ever since finding out she was his soulmate, he realized how much he'd been pushing aside his feelings for her.

"You mean Luka?" Adrien frowned at the mention of his name. She backed up against the lockers as he followed her into her personal space.

"I want to be with you Marinette," He felt relieved to finally be able to say it. Her heart raced with excitement. Wasn't this the moment she'd been waiting for since freshman year? Then why was she so afraid. She tore her eyes away from his.

She was so afraid that it would turn out as it had with Luka. She didn't want to go through all the heartbreak only for him not to be her soulmate. She didn't want a doomed love.

"I-I'm sorry!" She ran out of the locker room and to her house. He watched her go, with a melancholy expression.

"Agreste you're so stupid," he wished he could hit himself. He was too impatient. Why did he think it was a good idea to confess just a day after another person. She must hate me now.

"Nice going Adrien," Plagg chuckled, Adrien shoved him back in his pocket.

Marinette took a nap as soon as she got home, trying to avoid any emotions. She woke up late and had missed dinner. Her parents were already asleep when she made her way down to the kitchen. She grabbed some homemade cookies and ice cream. The meal wasn't all that healthy but she needed some comfort food. She headed back up to her room, and a small knock at her window caught her attention.

She opened it only for Chat to hop inside quietly. "H-hi," he smiled at her, not his usual confident self.

"Looks like we could both use some ice cream," she handed him the tub with a smile, noticing something was off immediately.

They sat on her floor in silence, snacking on the food she'd brought up. "So…" Chat started. "What happened today?" He asked as if he didn't know.

Marinette sighed. "My long time crush confessed to me," She put another spoonful in her mouth sadly. Chat's eyes widened. This was news to him.

"Then… shouldn't you be happy?" He looked into her eyes.

She smiled wistfully. "I mean… I am but," she sighed before continuing. "I'm scared… terrified. What if he isn't my soulmate…?" She set her spoon down, staring into the icecream container as if remembering the scene in her mind.

"But I am! I mean… he could be!" Marinette didn't miss his words. She stared at him for a bit taking in what he'd just said and the reminiscent feeling she'd been feeling whenever he was around.

"Marinette?" he cocked his head to the side.

She began to laugh, Chat giving her a confused look. Did I break her? When she finally got her composure she shook her head. "Kitty you could've just told me," She smiled at him, wondering how he even knew.

Chat stared at her. How had she figured out he was Adrien? Had he been too obvious? At this point, he didn't care it just made everything easier.

He detransformed and smiled widely at her. He knew he messed up when her shocked expression looked back at him.

"I meant that you were my soulmate!" She stared at Adrien as he sat on her floor. His eyes widened in realization.

"Oh," Marinette's mind was going a mile a minute. So if Chat was Adrien and Adrien was Chat. Then Chat confessed to her AND he was her soulmate. That means Adrien was her soulmate.

Adrien noticed Marinette basically losing her mind so he grabbed her arms and looked into her eyes. She stared at the seal on his arm. It matched. Plain and simple. Her heart raced and she looked into his eyes.

"Are you okay?" Adrien asked. She was overwhelmed but more than that she was ecstatic.

She smiled and hugged him, squeezing him so tight he could barely breathe. "I'm more than okay!" She let out the breath she'd been holding in and pulled away. Her heart wouldn't stop pounding. Maybe the universe wasn't so cruel after all.

"So I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked hopefully.

She nodded. He transformed back and kissed the back of her hand. "I'll see you at noon then purrincess."

Marinette sat on her floor still processing everything that happened. She put her face in her hands and let out a silent school girl scream.

How did things end this way? She didn't know. All she knew was they would get no work done tomorrow.
