Sam woke up in Jack's bed the following morning. The incident with Cassie had been emotionally draining, but Sam had felt better at the start of the new day. It was still early, but the sun had just risen. Neither she nor Jack had moved in the middle of the night, and she couldn't help but rub her hand up and down his arm.

He had swatted at her as if she was a bug, and Sam couldn't help but giggle, which made Jack turn to face her.

"Morning." She said.

Jack smiled.

"Mmm, a good one when you're here with me," Jack claimed.

"I'm sorry, I've been busy." Sam frowned.

"Don't apologize for doing your job, you got a lot on your shoulders," Jack claimed.

"We have time today." Sam smiled again.

"Yes, we do." Jack agreed.

Sam began touching him. They have kissed and cuddled, but sex had only happened one time between the two of them, not that they didn't want it but either were too exhausted, upset, or physically injured to partake. The lines they had drawn in the sand so long ago had been erased for over a month now, but there was something about it that still made Sam a little weary. She was waiting for the other shoe to drop. She imagined General Hammond, retiring out of the blue, leaving Jack in charge. She imagined that the pentagon had decided she wasn't fit for command, and back to SG-1, she went. She knew she shouldn't have these thoughts but couldn't help but run scenarios of how long this was going to last.

"You're thinking way too much, Carter, what is it?" Jack asked.

Jack rarely called her Carter at home. She knew it was a tactic to get her to attention.

"Nothing," Sam insisted.

She smiled at Jack and kissed his lips. She was excited to have this time with him, no matter how long it was.

The two of them were taking there time, smiling, giggling, slowly pulling off clothes.

They weren't talking, but their eyes said it all. It was nice to have this closeness. It was nice to have time to do things slowly, carefully meticulously.

Jack had unclasped her bra and pulled it off her body, throwing it across the room. It had hit the mirror on his dresser then fell sliding behind it. Sam wasn't sure when she was getting that one back.

Jack shrugged his shoulders at her seeing what had happened, and she giggled at him.

Jack kissed her lips, hovering over her. She put her fingers through his hair, pulled him on top of her when he started nipping at her neck. It wasn't fair that he had somehow found everywhere she liked to be touched. She moaned in pleasure, something she hadn't meant to do, but the sound came out, and Jack was now smiling into her neck.

The two played a game teasing each other, touching each other, making one another shiver, that was until Sam grabbed his hips and thrust hers upwards.

"No more games." She stated.

Jack smiled and entered her then and there. Her expression said it all. Jack couldn't believe his luck. Sam was absolutely fantastic in bed. He had so many dreams of this, and a lot the times when you have a dream, and it comes true, there is a disappointment after the fact. Jack had realized his dreams weren't big enough when it came to Sam Carter, and the real thing was no comparison. Jack was convinced he could live the rest of his life lying with a naked Sam Carter, and that would be heaven.

Unfortunately, less than an hour later, Sam was called in, something wrong with the gate, and she had no clue how long she would be. Jack insisted no matter what time it was to come back to his place. She smiled at him and kissed him goodbye.

Sam went down to the gate room, and just as she was about to ask what was wrong. The dialing sequence worked the blue horizon wooshed to life, and the words that irked her to know end came out of the airman's mouth.

"I told them not to call you mam, it was a simple electrical fix, it's done, sorry to have bothered you." The man stated.

Sam sighed. She turned back topside and went back to Jack's house. She hated that it already seemed more like home than her home had. Sam wasn't sure Jack's reasoning behind the purchase. It was inviting, but it was far too large for a single person. She wondered if his intent subconsciously, at least, was to fill it with more people. The 3 bedroom home with generously sized rooms was enough to hold a large family. The word family hit her hard. She wanted that, she wanted that with Jack O'Neill but not now. She had just become a commanding officer. She closed her eyes and was thinking, "but when." Sam knew, of course, there were different ways to start a family, but she knew in her heart if and when that time came, she would be stepping down, and what if parenthood wasn't what it was cracked up to be. The Stargate was what she knew.

She wondered what it would be like, though. Growing up, she wanted to be like her mom, but when she passed away, she felt like she had something to prove to her dad. She knew that her dad had been banking on a boy when she was born and sorely disappointed that she wouldn't follow in his footsteps, or so he thought. She had forgiven her father long ago for that but wondered how he would feel if he knew back then what she was doing in the future.

She sighed as she parked in Jack's driveway. She imagined herself pregnant with his baby—three kids running around the yard. Everyone was happy. The large yard had a giant swing set the two of them had built and added onto. The image in her head threw her off because her whole life, she only imagined two. She shook the thoughts from her mind and walked back, knocking on the door.

"Hey, that didn't take long," Jack claimed.

"Turns out, they didn't need me," Sam claimed.

Jack smiled.

"Well, good because I definitely do." Jack smiled and kissed Sam.

"What do you say to a nice meal out on the deck? I'll grill whatever you want," Jack claimed.

"What if I want a salad?" Sam asked.

"Odd choice to put on the grill, but for you, I'd do it," Jack claimed.

Sam laughed and smacked his arm.

"You really need to stop doing that. Doc Fraiser is going to ask about the injuries," Jack claimed.

Sam groaned as Jack dug through his fridge and freezer. Finally, they decided hamburgers were the best option, and Jack started taking the needed supplies outside.

The two held a conversation about a variety of things, including Jack's Opera, he had to play. Sam was never into opera, she didn't mind the music or the storyline, but it just wasn't something she ever picked up on. She preferred a night at the Orchestra or a live play. She had known Jack's love of opera for a while now but hadn't listened to it herself.

She was glad to get to know him better. Although they knew plenty of personal things about each other, there were still the little things they were learning about each other that made Sam happy that they were finally able to do this.

The burgers were done, the conversation had run out, but it was a pleasant quietness; both knew she needed to go home. She had a few outfits stashed away at his place, but nothing else and spending the weekend with him seemed to have ended in the blink of an eye despite the drama that had occurred the night prior.

Both Sam and Jack were lounging in the living room, Sam leaning on Jack as a movie played across his TV screen. Sam was more aware of his hand on her arm and the warmth of his body then the film. When the credits finally rolled, and Sam realized how late it was, she finally admitted that she needed to go home. Jack nodded in agreement and walked her to the car, kissing her goodnight and telling her he would see her in the morning.

Sam drove home and felt the ache in the pit of her stomach. She missed him. It was silly and stupid. She had gone months without him, and the whole 20 minutes it took to get home resulted in the sadness that took her days to get before this new relationship. Despite the fact the feelings were always there, Daniel was right; things were changing. Sam knew relationship-wise. It was a good thing but work wise she wasn't sure how it was going to go. She shook herself out of the thoughts, knowing that overthinking this would lead to disaster. She walked into her house the suddenly seemed harsh to her. The brightness in the kitchen was overwhelming. She walked down the hallway to her bathroom and took a long hot shower, then got dressed for bed and laid in her bed tossing and turning with the lack of Jack's body up against her own.

Monday morning came slowly for Sam, who had a fitful sleep. She slowly got ready, had her cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal before heading to the SGC. They had no upcoming mission briefing because the 3 of them were swamped. Daniel was currently working on three large projects. Michelle was still working on the plant life from there last mission, as well as medicine SG-5 and SG-13, brought back that seemed to cure a variety of ailments.

Jack had knocked on Sam's door at the end of the morning, smiling at her work.

"So, apparently SG1,7, and 9 are checking out a planet tomorrow," Jack claimed.

"Oh?!" Sam asked.

"Yeah, some Tokra intel on this one," Jack stated.

"So it's dangerous?" Sam claimed.

"Just a little," Jack admitted.

"Jack." Sam finally looked at him.

"It will be fine," Jack claimed.

Sam just nodded her head.

"So, what are you into?" Jack asks.

"Looking over this energy source brought back by SG-15, they seemed to have met very curious inhabitants of PX-856. They seem to be an amiable inquisitive group. If they have this kind of technology, I may ask General Hammond to return. This appears to be hydrogen run.

"That's a good thing?" Jack claimed.

"You know it is, sir," Sam claimed.

"Right," Jack stated.

"So when do you head out, sir?" Sam asked.

"1300, tomorrow," Jack claimed.

Sam nodded her head.

"I'm taking off about 4. Do you know when you can get out of here?" Jack asks.

Sam shook her head no.

"Depends on what I can get done," Sam claimed.

"See you for lunch?" Jack asked.

"Remind me?" Sam questions.

"Of course," Jack stated.

Sam was trying to make the markings on the energy source. Daniel still hadn't seen it but had some other writings, a history book of some sort according to the reports, Sam just hoped he recognized.

When Sam walked over to Daniel's lab, he had about 100 different things all over, and Sam smiled, wondering how he ever worked through the mess.

"Sam! Come in, have you been working on the energy source?" Daniel asked.

"Yes, that's why I am here. Have you been able to read there manuscript?" Sam asked.

"Yes, it's English for the most part," Daniel claimed.

"Oh, then have you ran across these symbols?" Sam asks.

Daniel looked, "that one means On/off, but I don't know the other ones. Let me work on this, and I'll let you know."

Sam nodded.

"Okay, Daniel, let me know when you've figured out," Sam claimed.

Daniel nodded.

"Everything turned out okay after we left?" Daniel asked.

"Yeah, everything is fine."

"In all honesty, Sam, I"m so happy for you guys," Daniel claimed.

"I know, Daniel, but you were right with some of the things you've been saying lately. There is a lot to think about what this means for work," Sam claimed.

"So, you and Jack have talked about it," Daniel claimed.

"Not exactly," Sam admitted.

"Sam." Daniel wined.

"I know, Daniel, but you know the Colonel, and I don't have the best track record when it comes to meaningful conversation." Sam sighed.

"You have to, or you two are going to implode," Daniel claimed.

"I know, it's just where do I even begin?" Sam asked.

"With the truth," Daniel stated.

Sam just looked at her friend and nodded, knowing he was right. She walked out back to her lab, trying to come up with the right words to say.
