Chapter 26: Buu is No Longer a Threat! The Team Finally At Peace!
Super Sonic flew right at Vegeta, who blocked his fist. Sonic then started to kick Vegeta. "Hahahaha! You really think you can beat me like this? Step it up!" Sonic's basic attacks were not affecting Vegeta much. He spindashed into Vegeta's midsection, sending him backwards. He raised his power level and charged up his energy wave. "Super Sonic Boom!" The yellow beam shot out at Vegeta. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" Vegeta countered it with a fist. He sent Sonic's beam back at him. Sonic just barely dodged it. "Nice try, Vegeta! But, you're not catching me by surprise! I'm the fastest thing alive!" Sonic and Vegeta's fist's impacted each other, and they clashed. Punches flew in a whirl of white on white and dust was kicked up. By this time, the remainder of Team Sonic Ball had come to watch the fight. Sonic's smaller body was able to avoid some of Vegeta's hits, but not all. Still, the clash kept going. The two fighters weren't letting up at all. "Sonic's gonna lose! I see him getting tired. I'm gonna go up and help him!" Tails said. He used his twin namesakes to propel himself up to the ensuing chaos. "Hey, look! Your little fox friend has decided to join us! How cute! Too bad it'll end up the same way!"
Tails joined in on the mess of arms and legs, contributing his own small part. "Tails, what are you doing up here? Vegeta's too dangerous!" Sonic said. Tails didn't even have enough time to respond before Sonic was slugged in the face. Blood trickled from the corners of his mouth. A big bruise started to form on his forehead, and he was quite fatigued. Vegeta wasn't doing too well either. His armor was completely wrecked, leaving just the training suit underneath. "You've made quite the mess of me, hedgehog. But I'll keep fighting, no matter what happens!" Sonic gulped hard. "I can't keep up like this much longer. I gotta take it further. Hyper form, here I come." Sonic reverted to his base form, and drew on the powers of the Super Emeralds. They surrounded him with rainbow colored, sparkling energy. Sonic's quills stood on end, and turned shiny white. Finally, the hyper form took a firm hold and Sonic's power level rose once again. "You thought you could defeat me by turning into a monster?! I'll show you who'll defeat who!" Hyper Sonic's eyes sparkled as part two of the titanic turbulence began. "What's this?!" Vegeta asked himself. Sonic rushed at Vegeta, fist outstretched, ready to attack. Suddenly, he disappeared. "Where'd he go?" Tails asked. Sonic reappeared in front of Vegeta, and delivered a mean uppercut to his jaw. Vegeta was thrown backwards, dazed, but Sonic kept up. He launched Vegeta downwards, teleported just beneath him, and kneed him into the sky. Vegeta's body crashed down to the ground, laying still.
"That'll teach you to not mess with me! Now, whoever you are that is possessing Vegeta, leave him now! I don't wanna have to go all the way and kill him." Vegeta's body suddenly shook, and a pink blob came out through his mouth. It formed into a body. A terribly familiar body at that. It was once again Majin Buu. This time, he assumed the form where he was at his strongest, Majin Buu; Gohan absorbed. In this form, he wore a gi that was identical to Goku's on his upper half, and kept the white baggy pants. His head tentacle was very long, signifying his immense power. "Here I am again, the ultimate Majin! This will not go just as last time! My possession of Vegeta was just a distraction! Now I will destroy you all in just one fell swoop!" Majin Buu crossed his arms and smiled sinisterly. "Not even Vegito can suppress me now! I've trained while in hell, and now I've perfected my Gohan Absorbed form! Now that I think about it, that name is a little too long for my liking. How about Buuhan? Yes, yes! Buuhan is a wonderful name! Hahaha! I will be remembered for the rest of time on this planet! Which might not be too long, so I'd better savor this moment while I can." Vegeta had managed to drag himself into a sitting position. "I knew it was you! Babidi has been dead for years! Even so, he wouldn't be able to possess me! I have no evil in my heart! We'll stop you, Buu! You'll never have the chance to destroy my world again!" Vegeta said. Buuhan smiled again.
"That's a great joke, Vegeta! Although, I don't think I appreciate it. You all are nothing compared to me! I'll show you. Mark my words, you'll all pay for what you did to me!" Buuhan got mad and increased his power level. Suddenly, he calmed down, and his power level dropped. "Actually, I don't think I want to fight you. I'd prefer to take a break for now. Maybe explore this planet, see what it has to offer. Fighting for revenge is petty; at least for me. Don't worry about me. I'm not up to anything nefarious. Take it as a gift from me to you. I'll leave you all in peace. Farewell." Buuhan leapt into the air, smiled sinisterly once more, and dashed away, quickly disappearing from sight. "What was that all about?" Goku asked. Sonic shook his head. "I have no idea. Today was just all sorts of crazy. Let's just go inside and relax." Sonic reverted to his base form and walked into his house. He plopped down on the couch and fell fast asleep. "Wow, that was insane! I wonder what Majin Buu is up to?" Tails dropped back down to the ground, and followed the rest of the group inside. "Let me just give Sonic a Senzu bean, and he'll be A-okay!" Goku reached into his gi and pulled out the bag of beans he kept on his person at all times. Goku put a Senzu into Sonic's mouth and forced his mouth to chew it. Sonic's eyes cracked open, and he sat up. "Ugh, what time is it? Where'd Buu go?" Tails pointed up in the sky. "He went that way! He said he was going to leave us alone! So, I guess we can rest after all that's happened this week." Tails sat on the couch and rested his head against Sonic's shoulder. Goku tended to Vegeta's wounds, and Knuckles sat sullenly on an armchair in the corner of the living room.
"Hey, Knux. What's up? You look kinda down today. It's alright. That monster Buu left us." Sonic said. Knuckles shook his head. "That's not what I'm worried about; I haven't seen the Master Emerald in over a week. I gotta head over to Angel Island. I'll be back soon. Can I borrow the plane?" he asked. Sonic shook his head. "Well, Tails and I are about to go use the Tornado, but you can use the Tornado-2. It's in the hangar." Knuckles gave Sonic a fist bump, and walked outside and into the air hangar. He opened the door, and inside sat a blue and yellow bi-plane. It had Tails' insignia on the vertical stabilizer, and the word 'SONIC' painted on the side in white. "Ah, the good ole' Tornado-2. I'm gonna take a nice, relaxing flight up to Angel Island. No need to rush." Knuckles hopped into the pilot's seat, started the engine, and rolled out of the hangar. Knuckles put on his pilot's goggles and carefully drove to the runway. He stood at the very end of the long road, and pushed the throttle to 100%. The plane's engine roared louder, as the Tornado-2 rolled forward and lurched off the ground. He headed west; straight for the floating Angel Island. MEANWHILE… Sonic and the gang rested in his house. Sonic and Tails watched TV together, while Goku and Vegeta stood upstairs playing a video game. The house was quiet, finally the world was at peace. Majin Buu supposedly went into hiding, Eggman had changed his ways, and life was good. "Hey, Sonic? Are you feeling okay? You took a beating from Vegeta out there. Even your Hyper state seemed to be slowing down. Do you wanna go someplace where it's more quiet? Maybe take the plane somewhere?" Tails asked. Sonic looked at his little buddy and smiled.
"I'm fine, Tails. Really. But, it would be nice to take a load off and fly somewhere. We'll go and hang out in South City. Maybe go shopping, we could just see the sights. Let's go!" Sonic hopped off the couch, packed a small backpack of various items they might need, and went out the door. He made sure to not use his super speed too much, as his body would start to hurt. "Come on, Tails! We don't have all day!" Sonic said. He hopped on the top wing of the Tornado, and Tails climbed into the pilot's seat. The plane started up, and rolled forward. It lifted off the ground right before hitting the sea, and Tails banked right, headed for South Island. Sea water sprayed out in all directions from beneath the plane, both occupants as happy as they could be. They had neutralized the threat, protected the citizens of their world, wished back whoever needed wishing back, and now, they could rest their minds. The Tornado sped off into the horizon, making the journey to South Island. MEANWHILE... Knuckles was en route to Angel Island. The air was calm, and the sky barely had any clouds in it, so the giant floating island was easily visible even at a distance. "Wow, look at that. That's what I call a sight for sore eyes. My island is looking better than ever!" Knuckles pulled up higher into the sky, and leveled with the island's vegetation-covered runway. "Hmm. I should really clear that runway up one day." Knuckles' shut off the rocket engine attached to the plane, which in turn made it slow down significantly. He brought the throttle down to 10%, and made a peaceful landing on the runway. Finally, the plane was shut off, and Knuckles climbed out of the pilot's seat. He took off his goggles and set them on the seat as well.
"Ah, it's nice to be back. I've been gone for a while, so let's see if anything's changed." Knuckles said as he zipped away through the bushes, inspecting his beloved island for any damage sustained while he was away. He tore through the various Zones contained on the island, checking each and every corner for signs of intruders. But, to his delight, there were no signs of anything different. "Well, now that's done, let's see how the Master Emerald is doing." Knuckles walked for a while, and pushed his way through the thick wall of trees and various foliage growing before he reached the Master Emerald shrine. There, the giant gem sat, glowing green and casting its light throughout the whole forest nearby. Knuckles walked up to it, and put his hands on it. It was warm to the touch, and its energy coursed through Knuckles' whole body. "It seems it's still in good condition. What a great caretaker I am. I better get back to Sonic's house soon. The Saiyans are leaving tomorrow, and I gotta be there when they leave." Knuckles touched the Master Emerald one more time, before peeling out, running through the forest and shrubbery to where the Tornado-2 was waiting for its next flight. He hopped into the seat, put on his flight goggles, and started the plane up. It rolled forward once again, and Knuckles took it to the sky, leaving the mystical place that was Angel Island, behind. MEANWHILE... Sonic and Tails were approaching the South City International Airport.
"This is Tornado-1 speaking to you right now. I am currently 10 nautical miles from your location. Carrying no material cargo, and two passengers. Requesting permission to land at the airport, over." Tails said over the onboard radio. The radio hissed with white noise, then came a voice. "This is South City International air traffic control. Your request for landing has been accepted, proceed to the Northwest landing grounds." the air traffic controller said. "You heard that, Sonic? We can land in the airport now! We'll have to find an empty spot." Sonic smiled and nodded. "Cool! I'll have to make sure to not be mobbed by my many fans! Ha! We haven't had a day like this to ourselves in a while, right? Well, now we have a chance. The Saiyans are going home tomorrow, and we can finally rest our heads." Tails put a thumb up, and prepared the Tornado for a landing. He shut down the rocket engine, and the plane slowed down quite a bit. The runway lights turned on suddenly, and Tails turned to match them. The plane touched down smoothly, and rolled to a stop. "Another flawless landing. Let's go, Sonic! I wanna see all the places I can buy some new technology!" Tails said. Sonic hopped off the wing, grabbed some money out of the Tornado's glove box, and grabbed the Tornado's keys. He pressed the button labeled 'LOCK', and a chirping noise came from the plane. Now, no one would be able to steal Sonic's prized possession. He walked with Tails through the doors of the airport. "Where to, Tails? You brought the city map, right?" Tails reached into his backpack and unfurled the map.
South City was a huge place, with a prominent downtown area, a big shopping district, and residences to the north and east. Tails examined the map carefully and scratched his chin. "Hmmm. If we go there..." Tails traced a path with his finger, "...we should be able to reach all the shops in no time!" Sonic nodded, and Tails put the map back in his backpack. The duo went out of the airport and caught the nearest subway to Tails' marked area. A BIT LATER... "Why do we have to take the subway when we can get to the shops quicker than this?" Tails asked. "Sorry, Tails. The only reason we can't use our speed is because it would attract too much attention to ourselves. Otherwise, we would've been there already. Sorry, bud. Just hang in there. We'll be there any minute now." Just as if Sonic were staging the whole act, the overhead speakers belted out a garbled message. "Marble Garden Street Station ahead. Please make way for departing passengers." Sonic perked up, and began to get up on his feet. "That's our stop!" The subway train pulled into a big, brightly lit station with various potted plants and other decorations spread about. Sonic and Tails were some of the first ones off the train. They were surrounded by people milling around, off to their own different destinations. "Wow, Tails! We're in the big city! Let's go find the mall!" Sonic said. The duo of heroes walked up the stairs that led out of the train station, and emerged in the bright afternoon daylight. "What a wonderful sight. I've never been here before, so I'm sure it'll be a treat for the both of us."
