Chapter 27-Preparing
Billy wakes up the next day. He sees Raven is still asleep. Billy slowly slips out of bed and gets dressed. He laces his boots before he leaves the tent. He sees that the same patrols from last night were still on watch. He walks over to Miller, who has been on watch for almost fourteen hours. "Why are you still on watch?" He asks Miller.
"Some people are still sick. I said I would do morning watch too," Miller says.
"Miller, give me your gun and go get some rest. Once everybody wakes up, we need to make a better patrol schedule. Mostly everybody should be better by now," Billy tells Miller, who nods as he hands him his gun and walks away. Billy hears footsteps behind him, and he sees Charlotte. "Hey, kiddo," Billy says. Charlotte smiles.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Charlotte asks.
"Taking watch so Miller can rest," Billy tells the little girl, who nods.
"Shouldn't I learn how to shoot?" Charlotte asks. Billy pulls out his handgun and hands it to Charlotte.
"Yes, you should," Billy tells her. Charlotte smiles.
Wells wakes up and looks around. He sees Emma getting her boots on, and Charlotte is gone. Wells looks at Emma. "How are you doing?" Wells asks her.
"I'm doing ok. I really cared about him, but I knew that I was needed here," Emma says.
"We'll win. I know we will, and Lincoln will be back. He loves you, Emma. He realizes that, and he'll come back," Wells says. Emma smiles before she walks out of the tent. Clarke was checking on what was left of the sick teens when Bellamy came in.
"How is everybody?" Bellamy asks.
"They should be fine by the end of the day," Clarke says. Bellamy nods. Clarke walks out, and Bellamy follows.
Billy had just finished showing Charlotte how to shoot when Harper and Murphy came up. Charlotte hadn't fired the gun, but he had taught her how to aim and reload the gun. Charlotte was about to give the gun back when Billy stopped her. "Keep this just in case. Remember this is only for emergencies," Billy tells Charlotte, who nods, and she tucks the gun in the back of her jeans. Murphy pulls out his handgun.
"Here, take mine," Murphy says to Billy.
"No, There was another one at the bunker that Clarke gave me. I just have to grab it from my tent," Billy tells Murphy, who nods.
"We'll take over watch," Harper says. Billy nods as he and Charlotte walk away. Billy walks to his tent.
"Stay out here," Billy tells Charlotte, who nods as Billy walks in the tent. He sees that Raven has her pants back on. She also has her bra back on and was putting on her shirt. He smiles as he walks in. Billy walks to their bed and grabs the gun from under the bed. Raven looks at him.
"What happened to your other gun?" Raven asks.
"I gave it to Charlotte," Billy tells her as he puts the gun in the back of his jeans.
"Why?" Raven asks.
"Because she should be able to protect herself. We might not be able to protect her when the grounders attack us," Billy tells her.
"Fair point," Raven says as she puts on her red jacket.
"Come on, we have to talk to the hundred," Billy tells her. Raven nods as they walk out. Billy sees most of the hundred walking around. "Hey, Can I have everybody's attention," Billy says as he walks up to Harper and Murphy who were on a platform. The hundred looks at him. "This morning, I found that the same watch group from last night was still on watch. So for now on we're going to have captains that will be in charge of certain things. Bellamy and Murphy will be in charge of patrols. Wells and Westley will be in charge of watch. Clarke and Emma will be in charge of medical. Octavia and Harper will be in charge of rations. Raven and Athena will work on bullets and mines; if they ask for help you do it. If you have any questions unrelated to those things, come find me. Bellamy and Murphy will start to assign patrols as Wells and Westley start to assign watch. That is all. Let's get back to work," Billy says. The hundred nod as Billy walks down, and everybody gets to work.
Billy walks down to Athena and Raven, who was talking. "Who do you guys need?" Billy asks.
"Sent Jasper, Monty, and Finn over. That should be enough," Athena says. Billy nods as he walks over to Jasper and Monty. Monty had a huge grin on his face,
"Monty, Jasper," Billy says they both stop talking and look at him.
"What's up, Billy?" Jasper asks.
"Raven and Athena need your help. Have you guys seen Finn?" Billy asks them.
"I saw him walking towards the dropship," Monty says.
"Thanks," Billy tells them. They nod as they walk past him towards Raven and Athena's work tent. Billy walks towards the dropship and hears Clarke and Finn behind the dropship. He could see that they were arguing. "Finn," Billy says. They both turn and look at him.
"What?" Finn asks.
"Raven and Athena need you," Billy tells him. Finn frowns before he says something to Clarke and walks away. Once Finn is gone, Billy looks at Clarke. "You ok?" Billy asks.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I have to go help Emma," Clarke says. Billy nods as Clarke walks past him.
Octavia walks over to Westley, who has just finished assigning watch times. "Hey," Octavia says. Westley looks at her and smiles.
"Hey. What's up?" Westley asks.
"Nothing. We're good on food for now. You done?" Octavia asks. Westley nods. "Is there a reason your friend glares at me?" Octavia asks as they walk.
"He thinks that you stole me. Don't worry about him. He won't do anything. He has always been a little jealous," Westley tells her. Octavia nods as they walk around Billy, over to Murphy and Bellamy, who was talking.
"We good on patrols?" Billy asks.
"Yeah. We should be fine. We have two groups going from each side at all times," Murphy says.
"It looks like Wells and Westley did good. We should be good. If Raven and Athena can figure out a way to make more bullets, we should be golden," Bellamy says. Billy looks at Bellamy.
"Bellamy, if we somehow make it out of this and the ark comes down, we need to try for peace," Billy says Bellamy looks at him.
"Maybe you're right, but right now, we need to get out of this," Bellamy says. Billy nods as he walks to the work tent.
They all look at him. "What's up?" Athena asks.
"Is there a way to make the dropship blast off," Billy says. Raven looks at him.
"Yeah, we could. Why?" Raven asks.
"This is just in case, but if we get pushed back, we could use the dropship," Billy says.
"A ring of fire," Raven says.
"Yep," Billy says.
"Yeah, we can do that. Just give us some time," Raven tells him. He nods as he leaves.
Thanks for reading. I really want to do more with Westley, Octavia, and Easten, but a lot of their story is in season 2 and 3, so just give me time.
