Chapter 23- Taken

As Grace was saying something when she felt a hand over her mouth and an arm around her waist.

She dropped her phone and bucked against the him trying to get away. She bit his hand and screamed, "NOOOOO"

"You keep screaming and I'll kill the entire of Squad 3 starting with your Captain Severide" he seethed in her ear.

She calmed, tears running down her face. It came to her in that moment that the phone was still on and Grace could still hear her.

"I'll do whatever you want, just don't hurt Kelly or anyone else in there" she said with her hands limp at their sides.

"Let's go" he grabbed her arm and pulled her with him away from the banquet around the corner to a beat up chevy.

He blindfolded her and put her in the trunk of the car.

Dani lay there with her eyes squeezed closed praying that Grace heard the conversation and called Jay.

Grace could hear everything going on with Dani and Cody. She moved into the hallway and listened intently to hear what was going on. When she figured out what was happening and Dani was no longer answering her, she hung up and called Jay.

Jay had his phone on vibrate on the table, so he didn't disturb the ceremony. He answered the phone, "Det. Halstead" he greeted.

"Jay, it's Grace. Dani just called me, and I heard her get taken. You need to find her" Grace said.

"Grace are you sure? What happened? I need details" he said getting up and on alert.

"I was talking to her when I heard some muffling then I heard that asshat telling her he was going to kill her and kill Kelly if she didn't go with him. He didn't know that I was still on the phone" Grace informed.

"Okay, I am on it" Jay replied.

He hung up the phone and sent a message to his team to get to the venue. He turned to Nick and Beth who were still sitting at the table.

"Nick, I want you to stay with Beth okay" he said to the little boy.

"Sure, Uncle Jay" he replied completely oblivious to what was going on.

Beth noticed the look on Jay's face. "Don't worry honey, I'll keep an eye on him" she stated.

Jay nodded in gratitude before running out. Taking out his gun, he looked around the building, around the entrance to see if he could find anything for them to go on.

He found her purse on the ground, but nothing else. He spotted two people standing by the door smoking and approached them.

"Excuse me, I'm Det. Halstead" he introduced himself, "have you seen this woman here tonight?" he asked showing a picture of Dani.

"Yeah, I just saw her not 10 minutes ago. It looked like she was with a guy because he was cuddling her from behind" the woman said.

Jay nodded, "did they go in a car? Did you see how they left? Get the license plate?" he asked wanting to get as much information as possible.

"No, I didn't get the plate but they left in a dark green color Honda. It looked pretty old" the man replied.

Jay nodded and patted his shoulder, "thank you" he said before running back inside.

He ran back to the table, "please stay with Nick" he said to Beth. Before running into the crowd to find Kelly and the guys from the firehouse.

He found Kelly standing with his dad, Chief Boden and all the guys from the firehouse by the staging area where the demonstration was about to begin.

"Guys, we have a problem. Dani is missing" he announced to them.

Everyone stood on high alert. "What do you mean she is missing? What the hell happened?" Kelly snapped.

"She got a phone call and said it was from the hospital and she had to take it. She was not gone 5 minutes when Grace called me and said she heard Cody take Dani. He threatened her not to scream or say anything or he would kill you and her family" Jay explained what he knew.

"You go, we'll hold things down here" Chief Boden said to Kelly, who was already following Jay out, loosening his tie.

"What do we do?" he asked Jay as they made their way out.

Before he could answer, the rest of the Intelligence team showed up. Jay had called them when he found out what happened.

"What do we got?" Voight wanted an update.

"She's been gone not 20 minutes. I called to get a start on the car. A couple outside that they saw her and a guy get in a dark color Honda that looked beat up" Jay said.

"Okay, Ruzek, you and Atwater go inside and get a good look through the security footage to see if we can get a clear image of the kidnapping" Voight replied distributing the orders.

"We need to start with Mickey Johnson. He worked with Cody at Firehouse 38. There is no way he doesn't know where Cody is heading" Kelly replied turning back into the hall.

"We'll wait around back. Bring him out" Jay stated calling after him.

Kelly nodded, waving a hand over his shoulder to show that he heard him. Kelly stormed straight into the hall and stood at the stairs to the entrance.

Benny walked over to his son when he saw him walk in. "What's going on Kelly?" he asked his son.

"Marks took Dani and Mickey Johnson knows where he is" Kelly replied.

Benny nodded in understanding. He knew what he needed to do. He wasn't always there for his son and able to help him, but in this instance, he is and he is prepared to do what he needs to.

"Go wait by the back door. I'll bring him out in 5 minutes" Benny stated before leaving into the crowd before Kelly could say anything.

Kelly made his way towards the back of the hall, praying that his dad knew what he was doing.

Benny made his way through the crowd to find Mickey Johnson standing by the bar nursing a whiskey. He made his way over to the young man.

"Mickey Johnson right?" he asked.

The young firefighter turned to see who was asking about him. "Benny Severide, wow, it's an honor Chief" Johnson put his hand out to shake.

Benny shook his hand with a smile and nod, "thank you, listen, if you had a few minutes, I would like to talk to you" he replied.

"Sure, let's get some air, if you don't mind" Johnson stated.

Benny grabbed a beer and nodded. He walked with the young firefighter and started to talk about random squad training skills and tools that would help him make it to his sons' level.

"You know, I did have one question for you specifically" Benny said once they got closer to the backdoor.

"Yeah sure, what's that?" Johnson asked completely enthralled in the conversation.

"Where did Cody Marks go with my daughter-in-law?" he replied completely serious.

Johnson looked at the Chief confused. "What are you talking about? I don't know where Dani is" he stuttered.

Kelly came through the doorway and grabbed Johnson by the back of his shirt and yanked him outside, pinning him against the wall.

"Where the hell is my wife?" he repeated the question.

"I….I don't…what are you talking about?" Johnson was scared beyond belief.

"Don't play stupid with me. I know your track record of helping Marks get away with hurting women. You don't talk and tell me where he is taking Dani, I am going to do your face in" Kelly threatened.

"I never helped Cody with anything. If I knew where he was taking Dani I would tell her. Despite her being married to you, we all love Dani" Johnson replied.

Kelly pressed harder, "Where is Marks?" he tried another angle.

Johnson shook his head, "I don't know, honestly. He was supposed to meet me here" he stated.

"You have his number?" Benny asked.

Kelly was so enraged at the lack of cooperation, he forgot his dad was even there.

"Yeah, in my phone" Johnson replied.

"Kelly, go call Sgt. Voight and put him on speaker" he said to his son, who reluctantly let go of Johnson's neck.

"And you, make the call and put it on speaker" Benny instructed.

Johnson fumbled through his pockets to dig out his phone.

"Halstead" Jay answered.

"Jay, I think I might have something on where Marks took Dani. I am putting you on speaker, just listen" Kelly stated.

Jay put his phone on speaker as everyone gathered around him to hear what was going on.

"Go ahead, tell me where Marks would take Dani" Kelly said to Johnson.

Johnson picked up his phone and started to call Cody on speaker phone.

In some unknown location, Dani started to wake up. She felt groggy as she peeled her eyes open. It felt like someone hit her on the back of her head.

She took a look around the room, not recognizing anything. When she tried to get up, she felt resistance. Taking a better look at her surroundings, she found herself tied to a bed, spread eagle, in just her panties and bra.

It was then that everything came back to her. She remembered Cody at the ball and him taking her. She doesn't remember anything after that.

Trying to get up and out of her restraints, she didn't notice anyone in the doorway. She only stopped when she heard laughing.

Turning to follow the sound, she saw Cody standing in the doorway with a smirk on his face.

"You shouldn't pull too hard on those, you are going to hurt yourself" he warned her.

"Go to Hell" she yelled back at him, trying to maneuver her way out of the restraints.

That pissed him off. He almost leaped from the doorway and moved to straddle her waist.

Dani froze. She stopped moving, almost stopped breathing, she was terrified as to what he was going to do to her.

"I was just trying to be nice. You don't have to be difficult" he replied, leaning forward.

Dani thought he was going to kiss her, so she turned her head just in time to feel his lips at her neck.

"You are so beautiful. Even more beautiful now than you were when we were in school" he complimented.

"Why are you doing this? Just let me go and I promise I won't say anything to anyone" she pleaded.

He laughed, "yeah I don't think so. If I let you go, you are going to run straight to Severide's arms" he replied.

"No, I swear I won't. We aren't even together anymore" she lied through her teeth.

"Yes you are! DON'T LIE TO ME" he yelled in her face.

"You are mine now and no one is going to take you away from me. It's my turn to play with you" he added.

That was all Dani could take. She mentally prepared herself to fight back when she felt a buzzing coming from his jeans.

He sighed as if annoyed her was interrupted. He reached for his jeans to pull his phone out of his pocket.

"What do you want, I am a little busy at the moment" he barked into the phone.

"Where are you man? You were supposed to meet me at the hall" Johnson stated.

"Yeah, well plans change" Marks replied.

"What do you mean? We were supposed to be watching Dani remember" Johnson added.

"I already have what I went there for" Marks was purposely vague.

Johnson looked up at Kelly and his father when they heard that. They all knew what that meant.

He gulped before questioning, "so you got her then?" he needed to be sure.

Marks laughed, "oh yeah, I would say I got her. She's nice and tied up right now, waiting for me. I'll show her how a real man treats his lady" he stated.

"GO TO HELL YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Dani screamed, hoping someone heard her over the phone.

Kelly looked at his dad with vengeance in his eyes at hearing Dani. She sounded okay, her voice cracking a little but at least he hasn't done anything yet.

"Jay, get a track on that phone. I'll text Severide to keep him talking" Voight stated.

Jay immediately got on the computer and tried to trace the call. He already had Johnson's number from Kelly. He only hoped they got there in time.

Voight on the other hand, sent Kelly a text to have him keep Marks on the line.

Kelly looked at the incoming message and made a motion with his hand for Johnson to keep up the conversation.

"Dude, don't you think you should keep her quiet. Your neighbors are going to hear you if she keeps screaming like that" Johnson reasoned.

Cody laughed, "don't worry about that. Where we are, there isn't anyone around for miles" he replied.

"Listen, I have to go. My little princess is getting restless waiting for me" Marks added before hanging up.

"Wait, no Cody…" Johnson yelled into the phone, only to hear a dial tone.

He looked up at Benny and his son with trepidation on his face.

"Jay, please tell me you got something" Kelly begged.

"The line pinged at several locations that are abandoned. Does Johnson have any idea if Marks or anyone in his family own a farm house or anything?" Jay asked.

"No, not that I know of. But his sister-in-law has an old industrial building in the middle of nowhere, just outside the city" Johnson replied.

"That's it, Stone Manufacture. It's off of highway 37. It's secluded and surrounded by farm land" Jay stated, printing off the address.

"I'll meet you there" Kelly replied as he took off towards his car.

"Kelly wait for us, don't do anything stupid" Jay warned before grabbing his gear and rolling out with his team.

With breaking every speed limit outside of Chicago, Kelly arrived the same time Intelligence did.

"Let's have a little fun princess" Marks said as he reclaimed his position on top of her.

Dani just started screaming, hoping someone was out there listening and could come help her.

Marks trailed his hand down her jaw to the tops of her breasts. He squeezed and roughly handled her breast, while snaking his other hand down her stomach to rest under her panties.

Dani couldn't even think. She just screamed and bucked, trying to get him off of her.

As the team surrounding the house, getting ready to move in, they heard screaming. Jay and Kelly shot forward, following the noise.

They came upon a locked door. Instead of kicking the door down, they picked the lock. Dani's screams giving them the perfect coverage to get the door open.

Marks leant forward to kiss her, to have her turn her head to the side to hide her tears. She as not going to cry and give him the satisfaction.

Dani closed her eyes and prayed to God that someone was behind that door, coming to rescue her from this nightmare.

Lost in her own thoughts, she didn't notice that Kelly had stormed in and tackled Marks off of her. She just felt a weight being lifted off her, which caused her to open her eyes.

When Kelly and Jay stepped into the room, they both saw red at the scene before them.

There was Dani laying on the bed spread eagle, in just her underware, handcuffed to the headboard of the bed, with one strap of her bra ripped off her shoulder.

They saw Marks roughly handling her breast with his other hand in her panties with Dani trying to buck him off of her.

Kelly saw red. He was in a blind rage when he leapt forward and tackled Cody off of her.

Dani just turned her head, watching the scene unfold, not being able to help.

After landing on top of Marks on the floor next to the bed, Kelly pulled back, giving himself enough leverage to start pummeling Cody, who lay stunned beneath him.

He then pulled back, grabbing Marks by the throat and slamming him to the wall.

"Kelly!" she yelled, trying to get him to see reason. She didn't want him to get in trouble for doing something stupid.

"Kelly, you are going to kill him, he's not worth it. Please" she begged, tears flowing freely down her face.

Kelly let the man go, watching as he fell to the floor, gasping for breath.

It was then did Kelly turn to her. He was so enraged, that he forgot about her laying there defenseless, practically naked.

As if he snapped out of his vengeful state and ran over to the bed, wrapping her in his arms.

Jay ran in after a minute and stopped short at the scene before him. He quietly walked around the bed, cuffed Marks and dragged him from the room, giving the couple come privacy.

Dani felt her husband's arms around her and sighed in relief. Finally, she was safe. She trusted Kelly with her life, glad that he was the one to find her and rescue her before Marks did any serious damage.

Kelly held her tightly to his chest, as if he was afraid she would disappear if he let go. He kept her pressed against him for a few minutes before pulling back and wiping her tears.

"Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" he rambled all at once. He scanned her body for any signs of pain or damage.

"I'm okay now" she replied.

"Did he…?" he couldn't even bring himself to ask the question. He wasn't sure he was strong enough to hear the answer.

"No," Dani shook her head, "he didn't get that far" she replied knowing what he was asking.

Kelly let out a breath in relief, "Oh Thank God" he leant forward to rest his forehead against hers. "I was scared when I heard you screaming. And then coming in here, seeing him on top of you, touching you…I was worried I was too late" he explained.

She smiled slightly, "I'm okay Kelly, really I promise. You got here just in time" she stated, breathing him in. He was her safe place.

"So, you think you can get me out of these cuffs?" she asked, tugging her arms, which were now going numb.

He laughed and nodded, "yeah, give me a second" he left the room to find Jay.

The team was standing in the living room area with Marks handcuffed between them. They all looked up when they saw Kelly come back into the room.

"She okay?" Kim asked.

He let out a stressed breath and nodded, "yeah, physically she's okay. We got here just in time before he did any real damage. Do you think I can borrow one of your keys to unlock her?" Kelly informed them.

Without hesitation, Jay tossed his keys to Kelly.

The fire lieutenant raced back into the room to uncuff her bruised and bleeding hands. When she was free and able to stretch her arms, she realized that she was naked but for her panties.

Kelly noticed at the same time she did, blushing deep at being caught staring, as he quickly turned and looked away.

She felt herself flush bright red, reaching down to hide her body as much as she could.

Kelly shrugged out of his dress blues jacket, glad he decided to layer up and leave his uniform on. "Here princess, wear my jacket" he handed it over his shoulder, behind his back, so she had some semblance of privacy.

"Thanks babe" she smiled at his back.

Once she was snuggled tight in his jacket, she buttoned up the front, so she was partially covered.

Kelly kept his arm around her as they left the room and went to meet everyone else.

All of Intelligence turned to look at her with sympathy and joy in their eyes. They were sad that she had to go through this, but happy that she made it out okay.

She broke away from Kelly and ran into Jay's arms. She squeezed him in a big hug before leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Thank you" she whispered in his ear.

Jay tried to keep his emotions in check, clearing his throat as he pressed her into him a minute longer before pulling away.

"Anytime gorgeous" he tried to play it tough, but one look at her and he knew she saw right through him.

"Do you need a hospital?" Voight asked.

She shook her head, "no, thank you. He didn't get that far" she replied, remaining vague on purpose.

The team nodded in understanding. "Well, let's get out of here" Adam added, leading the group to the entrance.

Dani drove with Kelly in the backseat while Jay drove. "Dani, do you want me to take you to the hospital?" he asked looking in the rearview mirror.

She shook her head, "no, I'm okay. I'll have Grace or Connor come over and fix me up" she replied.

Jay nodded in understanding. "I'll give them a call" he stated, calling their friends from the car.

Dani fell asleep on Kelly's shoulder about 20 minutes into the ride. She didn't even realize they were home until she felt herself being picked up.

"Kelly" she questioned.

Kelly picked her up bridal style and carried her to their loft. "We are home babe" he said carrying her into the loft and placed her gently on the couch.

Once her got her settled, he went to grab some clothes and stuff for her to change into. He helped her change into some sweats and a button up top. It was easier to treat her wounds.

Once he got her settled back on the couch, before he could even pull the blanket over her, there was a knock at the door.

He went to answer to see Connor standing there with a medical bag in his hand. "Grace was in surgery. She sent me instead" he stated.

Kelly nodded and opened the door further to let him in. Connor went straight to the living room and over to the couch. He put the duffle bag on the table and knelt down next to the couch.

Dani took one look at her friend and couldn't help but cry. "Thanks for coming" she stated.

He pulled her closer and wrapped her in a hug, "there was no question" he replied.

She pulled away and wiped her tears. Connor smiled reassuringly. "You ready for this?" he asked.

She knew it was going to be hard and it was going to hurt, but she also knew that she needed it.

She nodded, "I think my ribs are either broken or bruised, I have a lot of contusions, abrasions, and a couple open wounds" she informed him.

He nodded and started taking out his supplies and laying them out on the table. "Okay, let me clean up your lip" he started.

Dani nodded, wincing as he wiped some of the blood from surrounding her lips. Connor gave her a shot of lidocaine before stitching her split lip.

He cleaned up her abrasions on her face before moving onto her abdomen. Connor unbuttoned her shirt and took a minute examining her abdomen. He pressed around her wounds and ribs, once he got to a particularly bruised area, she could not help but wince and buck.

"Sorry" he pulled back and sat back on his haunches. "Are they broken?" she asked.

He shook his head, "no, they don't feel broken. They feel bruised, which is why it hurts more than other wounds. Let me help you sit up and I'll wrap your ribs with an abdominal binder" he said.

Dani nodded and accepted his hand as she tried to sit up. Connor helped her take the shirt off so he could effectively wrap her ribs.

Once he wrapped her ribs, he helped her layback down and cleaned the abrasions on her thigh. "Do you need a rape kit?" he asked cautiously.

She shook her head, "no, things didn't get that far" she replied.

He nodded and continued to clean and stitch up her abrasions that were on her abdomen and thighs.

It took him a total of 2-3 hours before he finished patching her up. Once he finished patching her up, he packed up the medical supplied and left her some pain pills.

"I am going to leave you some tramadol for the pain. I want to see you a week for an x-ray to make sure your ribs are properly healed" he explained.

She nodded, "thank you for everything Connor" she pulled him into a hug.

He smiled and squeezed her cautiously to his chest. "There is nowhere else I would rather be" he replied.

"If you need anything, I'm only a call away" he stated as he grabbed his medical bag, nodding to Kelly on his way out.

Kelly sat next to Dani, pulling her into his lap, wrapping his arm around her.

"You okay? Feeling okay?" he asked, running his fingers through her hair.

She rested on his chest, nodding, "Physically I'll heal. It's just going to take some time for me to get over this and feel safe. I mean, I can't believe he took me hostage. He was supposed to be my friend" she cried.

Kelly wrapped his arm around her and let her get it all out.

When the team got back to the station, Jay and Voight threw Marks in the cage.

"I need medical attention" he cried.

"You'll get medical attention in county" Jay stated.

"That's illegal. I know my rights" Cody argued.

"Hmm" Voight stepped forward, "you know your rights?" he asked.

Marks nodded, "yes I do" he thought someone was going to help him.

"I'm glad you know your rights. I also know the law and you know what, kidnapping and holding someone hostage after you killed her daughter is also against the law" Voight stated.

"She was supposed to be with me. She was supposed to have my baby. That bastard stole her from me when I am better than he is. I have more to offer her than Severide does. He doesn't deserve her" Marks argued.

"You are one sick son of a bitch. You killed an innocent little girl who did not have a chance to live her life. You almost killed Dani at the same time. You are sick and never going near Dani ever again" Jay informed him.

"She's mine and will always be mine" Cody yelled.

Jay scoffed, "yeah, you keep thinking that" he replied before leaving the basement and going up back to the squad.

"We need to nail him" Jay said to everyone in the team.

"We got him hook line and sinker" Antonio said.
