Robby pov
I get Dax and he nods and walks toward the dropship. I see people packing winter rations. I see a bag of nuts on the table and am about to eat one when a hand slaps it out of my hand.
"Hey what the hell—?!" I start to say and turn around swiftly.
I see Octavia and sigh
"Oh it's you. Why'd you knock that out of my hand, I'm hungry," I say bitterly.
She tugs my arm and leads me away from the crowd.
"Those nuts make you see things," she hisses at me.
"Those are Jobi nuts?" I ask.
"Yeah, how else was I supposed to distract everyone?" She says shrugging.
"Nice, so how long do we wait?" I ask.
"Just until people start freaking out," she answers.
"Miller is guarding Lincoln we need to give him some," I say
Suddenly Jasper comes up and he's looks like he's about to faint.
"I think I'm going crazy or the grounders are here," he says panicking and shaking like a leaf.
He looks around frantically.
"Or I'm going crazy! Or—" he says again his hands shaking
"Just slow down and tell us what you saw," Octavia says trying to be gentle with Jasper.
"Hey buddy just sit down," I say slowly
"Him," he whispers pointing at nothing.
"Dude there's no one there," I say
"Right there! Why Isn't anyone—?" Jasper yells
"Stop it! Jasper are you on something?" Octavia asks in a hushed whisper.
"Why isn't anyone doing anything?" He whispers.
"I love you, I just want you to know this because we're all gonna die soon ok. But I love you," he says to Octavia.
Octavia looks slightly uncomfortable.
He holds up a Jobi nut and is about to eat it.
"Woah slow down okay just try to sit down," I say and gently sit him down on a log. I take the nut out of his hand.
"Wait no I don't love you Robby, I love Octavia," he says looking freaked out.
I decide to mess with him a little.
"Hey dude that hurts my feelings you need to relax," I say smirking with a falsely offended look.
"Is this all you've eaten today?" Octavia asks.
I feel some sympathy because I know how it feels to have a girl you like go after your friend. I'm not talking about Raven, I do love her, but not like that.
"It is, but who the hell cares now? It's—"Jasper begins to ramble.
"Your totally bombed," Octavia says.
I'm chucking like a total idiot and Octavia elbows me in the side.
"Here buddy, take this," Octavia says holding up a large stick.
"It's a stick," Jasper says.
"No, no, it's an anti grounder stick," Octavia says with lots of emphasis and goofy expression.
"As long as you hold this, the grounders can't see you," she says patting him on the shoulder.
"Makes sense," Jasper shrugs shaking still.
"Ya definitely," I say biting my lip in order to not burst out laughing.
Octavia looks at me with an expression of warning. Octavia leads me away and tells me to give some to Miller.
I go to the dropship and crawl up the ladder.
"Hey buddy," I say kind of suspiciously.
"Hey Robby, what's up?" Miller says giving me a weird expression.
"Bro, these nuts are where it's at, have some," I say opening me eyes extremely wide.
"Thanks bro," he says as he catches the pack and starts eating instantly.
I get down and find Octavia.
"Taken care of," I say winking at her.
"Now we wait," she says.
I look over at Monty who is going into my tent.
"Fuck me," I whisper rolling my eyes and follow after him.
I imagine he and Raven are in the middle of something.
"Monty get out of here!" Finn yells.
"It's basic physics," Monty says looking at a naked Finn and Raven with bug eyes.
"Alright buddy lets go," I say and shield my eyes from the sight of Finn and Raven in bed together.
"Carry on," I say waving my arm at Finn and Raven while leading Monty out of the tent.
"Robby, dude, earth is—" Monty begins.
"Shhhh," I say putting my finger on his lips and he shuts up.
"Just sit down," I say sitting him down on a log.
I turn my head to see Miller walking out of the tent looking at his hands in awe.
"Go time," I say to Octavia and we go to the upper level of the dropship.
We untie Lincoln and give him some clothes that Octavia stole off of someone.
"Why are you helping me I stabbed your friend," Lincoln asks.
"Bygones buddy," I say helping him walk.
"I don't want to put you in danger," he says to Octavia.
"Glad you care," I say getting in between him and Octavia.
We lead him out of camp and he walks right past Finn who has a freaked out expression.
I follow Lincoln to the gate. He is about to run when he turns around.
"Hey take care of Octavia. She seems to love you very much." Lincoln says.
"I will, I promise, and I love her to," I respond looking him in the eye.
"By the way, if you still want to train and learn our combat, meet me at dawn in the cave," Lincoln addresses.
I smile because he is actually going to teach me to fight. I'm gonna be able to help defend our camp from the grounders.
"Awesome, I'll be there," I say.
He holds out his hand and I shake it, but Lincoln looks confused.
"My people do it like this," he says.
He grabs my forearm and I grab his. It's a weird handshake, but I digress. He nods, turns around, and runs off into the woods. Time to start acting high out of my mind.
"Finny boy," I say walking up to him and grabbing his shoulders. I have a goofy grin on my face.
"Robby, your gone, come with me," he says laughing.
He leads me to Raven who's hugging Conner.
"Say it again," Conner begs.
"Your the most beautiful broom in a broom closet full of brooms," Raven slurs and he hugs her again.
He lays me down in bed and I close my eyes. After a few minutes I get up and go outside to see Clarke and Bellamy walk through the gate.
"The grounder, he's gone!" Miller yells in panic.
"What if he brings more grounders back? He'll kill us all," Jasper says in a panic.
"Or worse!" A girl named Fox yells.
"Let the grounders come. We've been afraid of them for far too long, and why?
Because of their knives and spears. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of being afraid," Bellamy says walking into the middle of the crowd alongside Clarke.
They look at each other then toss down packs that contain... guns! Real guns like the ones only the guards on the ark are allowed to touch. I look at Finn who looks in denial of the guns.
"These are weapons ok, not toys. And we have to be prepared to give them up to the guard when the dropships come, but until then, they're gonna help keep us safe," Clarke says.
"And there are plenty more where these came from," Bellamy tells the crowd.
"Tomorrow we start training and if the grounders come, we're gonna be ready to fight," Bellamy follows up.
We eventually disperse and start doing our own thing. I stand by the gate staring into the woods and Octavia walks up looking tired.
"Got something on your mind hero?" she says smiling at me.
"Your admirer invited me to train with him," I say smiling back.
"What do you mean admirer?" She says defensively.
"I saw the way he was looking at you and I didn't like it, but if he's willing to train me to help defend this camp, then I need to put that aside," I say staring off into the woods.
"Robby, you have nothing to worry about, I promise. I love you, you!" She insists.
I smile and pull her in for a hug. An orange blanket appears over Octavia's shoulders and I see Bellamy standing behind her with an apologetic expression.
"I don't expect you to forgive me, but you'll have to find a way to live with me because I'm not going anywhere," Bellamy says sounding remorseful.
"Bellamy! It's time," Clarke says.
Bellamy turns to walk away, but he stops and turns around to look at us.
"That grounder escaping, was that you?" He asks Octavia suspiciously.
"I had nothing to do with it," Octavia says with no emotion.
"What about you Robby?" Bellamy asks me.
"Don't know what you talking about." I lie.
He walks away with Clarke.
"Thanks for the blanket," Octavia says over her shoulder.
I leave to hit the hay, but have no idea how I'm supposed to get to the cave without getting killed by grounders. I rummage through the clothes on the dropship that no one is wearing. I find a black beanie and decide to use it and leave while it's still dark out. I go to my tent and ask Finn if I can come in. He allows it and I walk in to Clarke checking his wound. She must notice my look of suspicion and disbelief because she freezes. They seemed to be getting awfully close in distance.
"I-I had to check his wound," Clarke stammers. She gets up and leaves.
"You've gotta be kidding me," I say in disbelief.
"What are you talking about?" Finn says defensively.
"How could you do that to Raven?" I ask angrily.
He sits there silently.
"Answer the question!" I shout.
"What do you want me to say?!" He yells back.
"I want you to tell Raven what you did and no lying either. Also, tell her that your a cheating scumbag," I say
"Oh yeah, and Raven deserves so much better," I say glaring daggers at Finn and walk out of the tent.
I sit by the fire and ignore the chatting people around me.
"What's the matter with you?" Fox says lightheartedly and sits next to me.
"Nothing," I mutter and stare intently at the fire.
She places her hand on my thigh and I scoot away.
"What are you doing?" I ask alert.
"Cmon Robby, a hot piece of ass like you can do so much better than that bitchy girl under the floor," Fox says.
How fucking dare she say that about Octavia.
"Better as in yourself?" I say bitterly.
"Robby, I've liked you since we were kids why don't we sneak off into the woods and I'll prove it," she says seductively.
"No thanks ive ardy got the best. I don't need or want better," I scoff and walk away.
I shake my head to get the anger out of my system. Then I decide to wonder around camp. I eventually find my way to Raven's tent. I see her working on some project. I can tell she's pissed off because she always finds a project when she's angry.
"What's the matter?" I ask sitting on her bed.
"Huh what? Raven says startled.
She smiles when she sees me and says "Oh hey lover boy, what's up?"
"Just checking in. I haven't really gotten to hang with you in a year and a half," I say shrugging.
"Well you haven't missed much besides Finn taking the blame for me and getting locked up," she says.
"So that's how he got locked up," I say coming to the realization.
"Then he found Clarke," she sighs and gets sad.
"He's an asshole," I say shaking my head.
"Kinda mean since he's your best friend," she says looking at me quizzically.
"I dunno, his interactions with Clarke have been rubbing me the wrong way also because you deserve so much better," I say.
"Of course I do, I'm awesome," she says smirking at me, but I can see pain written all over her face.
"Fox tried to hit on me just now," I blurt out.
"Well you are pretty," Raven says clearly screwing with me
"Well I already have someone and that someone is all I want," I say.
"You and Octavia seem really happy together. I'm happy for you two. You deserve it after years of third wheeling with Finn and I," she says sweetly to me.
"Yeah, I totally do," I say smirking.
We both laugh and I decide to go to bed. As I'm getting up to leave I see a tear roll down Raven's cheek. I walk up to her.
"It's fine, my eyes are sweating," She says in a broken voice.
I laugh out loud and say "seriously?" In a sarcastic tone.
"I just don't know what I did wrong. What does she have that I don't? I just don't understand. Am I not good enough?" She says through sobs.
"No, your not good. Your great. Finn has no clue what he's missing. Anyone would be lucky to have you. You deserve better than him and I know you will find someone who treats you the way you deserve," I say with determination.
I hug her tightly as she sobs into my shoulder. We sit like that for a while. She's curled up against me sobbing. We've never had romantic feelings for each other. We're as platonic as you can get. Eventually, she calms down and makes me promise not to tell anyone that she was crying. I assure her that I won't. She fusses at me about not going to sleep yet and I walk out with a laugh. I don't know where to sleep since I'm too pissed at Finn and I bet Octavia wants some alone time. I decide to head to the dropship and sit in the hammock. Before I know it, I doze off.
