AN: Hey guys, I hope y'all are well. I don't really have that much to say, but I hope you guys are enjoying the story so far. This chapter is where the modern day stuff will start, and it will start with the Lightning Thief, and the OC Poseidon kid. Also, because I am not the best writer, it will take me some time to update, as this is where I branch off from Timeless Warrior. I didn't copy it, but I took inspiration because it was one of my favourite stories, so I'm sorry. Also, I'm sorry if the chapters are shorter, but I want them to be longer, so it might take me a little bit of time to pump them out. Anyways, please let me know what story you guys want next, and please enjoy this chapter!
Recap:
Hades looked at the demigod, eyes wide. "Gods no, I want you to save them." Perseus raised his eyebrows. "They are mine," Hades confessed. "Zeus wants to kill them, and he killed their mother. They've been dipped in the Lethe, I need you to hide them in the Lotus Hotel."
Perseus looked at the god, before sighing. "Okay Hades, but just so you know, you owe me a hell of a lot of favors."
Hades smiled at the demigod. "Thank you Perseus, I am forever in your debt."
Perseus took the children and vanished into mist, reappearing in front of the Lotus Hotel, leaving Hades to torture his son and daughter-in-law for the atrocities they committed. He looked at the kids, and gestured to the Hotel, nodding as the walked forward. As they walked, he felt sadness overcoming him, as the children were so innocent, yet had one of the most powerful gods trying to kill them.
As the children walked into the Hotel, Perseus disappeared into the mist, ready and waiting to stop another evil from the shadows.
Present: (January 2005, New York)
Perseus loved New York. It was bustling, and while the city was dirty, it was easy to find yourself at home. Perseus knew one special family had made themselves a home on East 104th street, one Sally Jackson and her son, Maximus, or Max for short. Sally named her son Maximus because it meant 'greatest'. While he might not be the greatest hero of all time, Sally knew he would be a great hero, and Perseus knew he would make sure Max would eventually become one.
Perseus discovered that Maximus was going to Yancy Academy, and went to check out the school. When he got there, he saw someone he never thought he would see again.
He walked into the school, and followed Perseus to his classes. He saw Mrs. Dodds, and knew she was a monster, but he didn't want to interfere just yet. When he went to Max's history class, he saw him. Chiron, or Mr. Brunner, was sitting in a wheelchair, teaching history. Perseus waited for class to be finished before walking into the classroom.
"Hello Chiron," he said to the trainer.
Mr. Brunner's jaw dropped as he looked at the demigod he thought to be long dead. "Perseus? I thought you were dead?"
Perseus smirked. "Well, I forced Apollo's confession, but he did it as a favor. I wanted freedom, and he granted it."
Chiron smiled. "Well, you were always very skilled. I assume you are still just as dangerous?"
Perseus chuckled. "Of course. Also, you know Mrs. Dodds is a monster, right?"
Chiron sighed. "Yes, but I am just waiting on her to make a move against Maximus. You know he is a demigod, right?"
Perseus nodded. "Yeah," he said darkly. "I know who is parent is too."
Chiron gasped. "You do? Tell me."
Perseus looked down. "Let's just say he's probably the child of the prophecy."
Chiron looked at Perseus, eyes wide. "He's...He's a son of Poseidon?"
"Yeah," Perseus said with a mirthless smile. "Hopefully he treats him better than me," he said under his breath.
"What was that?" Chiron asked.
"Nothing Chiron, just hoping Max stays safe," Perseus reassured the old centaur. "Before I go, I'm going to give you this," he said while holding out his pen.
"What is this?" Chiron asked.
"Don't you know everything?" Perseus asked. "It's Anaklusmos. I assume you know that it's a sword."
Chiron looked at Perseus in shock. "How did you get this?"
Perseus smirked. "Hera gave it to me. She's quite nice to people she doesn't hate. Give it to Maximus at the right time. I'll always be here if you need any help."
Chiron smiled. "Thanks Perseus, I'll see you around."
Perseus tipped his imaginary hat before vanishing into mist.
LINE BREAK (May 2005, New York)
Maximus was bored. He was sitting on a bus with a bunch of troubled kids going to the MoMa. The only consolation was that Mr. Brunner was leading their trip, so it might end up being half decent. The main reason he wanted the trip to be over was Nancy Bobofit. She was a red head nightmare. She picked on him and Grover all the time.
Grover was an easy target, due to his scrawniness and that he was crippled.
Maximus growled as a peanut butter sandwich flew across the bus, hitting Grover in the head. "I'm gonna kill her," Max scowled.
"Easy Max, you're on probation," Grover said. "Besides, I like peanut butter."
Maximus growled again, thinking of pounding Nancy's head into her seat to shut her up, instead sat down, trying to stay calm as much as he could, ADHD considering.
When they went into the Greek section of the museum, Maximus was livid, considering Nancy was just pointing out naked people. However, he didn't notice a figure hiding in the shadows. Perseus saw his half-brother tell the redhead to 'shut up', and Perseus chuckled.
"You go brother," he said while chuckling to himself. "Shut that bitch up."
After Max tripped his way over the explanation of the Kronos eating his children and the Titanomachy, he followed brother outside, and saw Nancy Bobofit go up to his brother. "No, brother," he murmured. "Calm down." Unfortunately, the opposite happened. Maximus stood up and the water from the fountain rose and made a hand which grabbed Nancy and tossed her into the water. Perseus swore under his breath as he saw Mrs. Dodds grab Maximus. "Double shit," he swore as he ran back towards the museum.
When he saw the teacher, he called his name. "Chiron, get Maximus the pen!" he exclaimed. "Mrs. Dodds took him."
Chiron's eyes widened and he wheeled off to find the young demigod. Perseus followed the old centaur and hid in the shadows as he saw Mrs. Dodds turn into Alecto.
"Where is the bolt, honey?" the Fury hissed. "Your time is up. Give it to me!"
Maximus looked at the creature weirdly. "What bolt? I don't know what you are talking about."
Suddenly, Mr. Brunner burst through the door in his wheelchair. "What ho, Maximus!"
A pen flew through the air as Alecto came at Maximus. Perseus saw as the Fury scratched Maximus, causing him to yelp. He wanted to help his brother badly, but he knew he couldn't risk it.
As Maximus caught the pen, he was astonished to see it was now a gleaming bronze sword. Perseus watched as Maximus swung the sword like a baseball bat, and while it did the job, Perseus had to try his hardest not to laugh.
Perseus knew Chiron and the satyr Grover would try to cover it up, so he left the room, leaving Maximus on his own, wondering what had happened with his teacher.
When Maximus went outside, he saw Grover sitting by the fountain. He plopped down beside his friend when Nancy walked up to him. "I hope Mrs. Kerr kicked your butt," she said angrily.
Maximus froze and looked up. "Who?"
"Our teacher, duh," Nancy said nonchalantly.
"Who's Mrs. Kerr? What about Mrs. Dodds?"
Nancy looked at Maximus strangely. "Who's Mrs. Dodds? I knew you were a weirdo." Nancy strutted away, leaving Max to ponder his thoughts.
LINE BREAK
Perseus left, as he needed to prepare to take his brother to camp. He had already fought a Fury, and needed to be safe. He vanished into mist and appeared in front of an apartment building on East 104th street. He went up to the desired unit and knocked on the door.
A woman with brown hair answered the door, and her jaw dropped. "Poseidon?"
Perseus shook his head. "I'm sorry ma'am, I'm not Poseidon. May I come in?"
The woman slowly nodded her head before backing away from the door, allowing Perseus to enter. The apartment wasn't much, and the woman looked at Perseus apologetically. "My husband isn't here, so we can talk freely," she said. "My name is Sally, Sally Jackson. I'm sorry for assuming, you just look like someone I know."
Perseus shook Sally's hand. "A pleasure, Sally. I don't mind that you mistook me for a god. However, I'm just the son of one."
Sally became alarm, and reached for her pocket. "Don't worry Sally, I am not here to hurt you. My name is Perseus, brother of Achilles and son of Thetis."
Sally's jaw dropped. "You're...you're alive? How?"
Perseus smiled. "I'm immortal, and I have the same curse as my brother, so I'm very hard to kill." Sally nodded understandingly.
"Sorry to be rude, but why are you here?" Sally asked.
"Well, you did mistake me for Poseidon," Perseus asked. "Most people don't know this, but he is my birth father."
Sally gasped at the revelation, before fully seeing the similarities between the two.
"He couldn't break the ancient laws and help my mother, as she was killed by Ares, and Thetis protected me," Perseus said simply. "I do not harbor any animosity towards Poseidon anymore, but I don't see him as a father, and I hope your son gets a better chance to know him." Sally gasped. "How did you know?"
Perseus smiled. "Besides the fact you thought I was him? I knew the moment I saw him, especially with his sea green eyes. He looks just like Poseidon and a little like me. However, that is not the main reason I am here. Your son met a Fury today and tried to kill him."
Sally gasped again, not wanting her son to be in danger.
"The Fury mentioned a bolt being stolen, and from what I can gather, someone stole Zeus' sparkler, I mean the master bolt," Perseus said with a smirk. "It's obvious that he blames Poseidon, and wants to kill his son. I assume you know of the oath the gods took not to sire children?" Sally nodded. "Then you know why Zeus wants to kill your son. He must go to Camp Half-Blood soon, probably after the school year ends. Do you know how to Iris Message someone?" Sally shook her head. "You make a rainbow, or using some mist from the sink, and you throw a drachma and say 'Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering, show me a person' and they will show up. Use this drachma to contact me and let me know where you are. I promise I will come and help. I will do anything to help my brother."
Sally got up and hugged the ancient demigod, tears falling out of her eyes. "Thank you Perseus, this means a lot to me."
Perseus smiled. "No problem Sally. However, please don't tell Maximus about me. I need to stay in the shadows for now, and I will reveal myself to him eventually. Deal?" Sally nodded. "Your son will be a great hero, and I will be there to guide him. I must go prepare. Please let me know if you need help, I'm always one IM away," he said before vanishing into mist.
LINE BREAK
Some time passed as Perseus got ready when an Iris Message appeared in front of him. "Perseus!" Sally yelled frantically. "Max told me about the Fury, and we are heading to camp with Grover! Meet us by the camp boundaries!"
Perseus nodded before turning himself into mist. He saw a car coming near the boundaries, when it was suddenly struck by lightning. He ran towards the car, looking for any survivors. He saw all three of the car's occupants were alright.
"Max," Sally said weakly. "We have to get to the boundary."
Maximus looked at his mother like she was crazy, when he saw the man. Or what looked to be a man. When the man came closer, Maximus saw two horns on his head and recognized the creature.
"Is that..." he started.
"Yes, that is Pasiphaƫ's son," Sally confirmed.
"But," Maximus tried to say.
"No," Sally said. "Names have power, so try not to say them all too often."
Perseus watched as Maximus dragged his mother and Grover towards the camp boundaries while the Minotaur recovered from blowing up their car. He watched as Max jumped to the side at the last minute, avoiding the charging monster. However, Sally wasn't so lucky. Once they reached the boundary, Sally was prevented from entering the camp, and shouted out to her son. "Go!"
Before the Minotaur killed her, she looked at a hidden Perseus. "Watch my son, protect him. Please," she said, tears in her eyes. Perseus nodded sadly as she burst into golden dust.
Max screamed in anger and goaded on the monster while Perseus did his best to slow it down using the water in the air to give his brother a chance. Eventually, his brother broke off the horn of the creature and used it to stab it in the ribs, causing him to disintegrate.
Maximus fainted and Perseus ran over to grab him, his hood still covering his face. He saw a centaur, Chiron, and a blonde haired girl walk out towards them as Perseus lay his brother on the ground.
"Who are you?" the blonde asked.
Perseus smiled. "You are very curious, just like your mother. My name is not important, but his is. He is Maximus Jackson, Max for short. Please take care of him." The girl and the centaur nodded.
Perseus bowed in thanks and turned to leave. Before he left he turned his head to face the duo. "Hey Chiron, make sure to give Max that pen," he said, leaving Chiron bug-eyed before he disappeared into mist.
"Who was that?" The blonde asked.
"An old friend," Chiron said as they took Maximus into Camp Half-Blood
AN: Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed. I know I am missing parts of the Lightning Thief out, but to me, Perseus is the main main character, and while Maximus is a main character too, I don't really want to rewrite the Lightning Thief, as I wouldn't do a good job. However, most parts I skipped from the book, like the scene where Percy corners Grover about Kindly Ones, will stay pretty much the same. Hopefully you guys aren't too confused, and if you are, please let me know and I'll try to make myself more clear. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed, and please review!
