They went down to the armory to get ready. They went down and found some chainmail they were able to use, luckily they were alone after a guard left them with their weapons after he quickly sharpened their weapons for him. They had their weapons laid out on a large table. Amdiriel had taken off her vest, still covered by her shirt and threw her chainmail on and then buttoned up her vest. She quickly put her hair up in a high ponytail and checked the buckles and dagger in her boot. It wasn't until she reached for her armbraces that she realized that Aragorn was staring at her. "What?" she asked. "Did I ever tell you how attractive you look getting ready for battle?" he asked with a smirk and walked around the table, placing his hands on her hips and Amdiriel placed her hands on his chest. "If you think that is impressive you should see when I undress after a battle." she teased him, turning in his arms to grab her belt but Aragorn pulled her against his chest, his lips traveling to her ear. "Don't tempt me." he whispered. "Because one day, my love, one day." he told her, blush coming upon her cheeks as he then left to finished getting ready.
Amdiriel attached her belt, dagger, and sword and then reached for her bow and arrow when she saw Legolas enter the room, she nodded to him, him nodding back then picking up Aragorn's sword and holding out to him. Aragorn looked over at Legolas slightly stunned but then smiled and took his sword from the Elf. "We have trusted you this far, you have not led us astray. Forgive me, I was wrong to despair." Legolas told him. Aragorn placed his hand over his heart as did Legolas "There is nothing to forgive." he said and clasped his hand over Legolas' shoulder as Legolas did the same to him.
Just then Gimli walked in, struggling with his chain mail. "If we had time, I'd get this adjusted." he said and let the chain shirt fall to show how long it was that ended up reaching the floor. "It's a little tight across the chest." he states. Aragorn and Legolas smirk slightly at him while Amdiriel tried not to chuckle.
Just then a horn sounded from outside the keep, a horn that very familiar to Amdiriel. "That is no Orc horn." Legolas stated. "No it surely is not." ran out followed by Amdiriel and Aragorn, leaving poor Gimli to finish getting dressed.
All the soldiers are looking over the wall to see what was coming. "Send for the King." A captain commanded to a guard and yelled out "Open the gate!" the command was echoed by others.
An army of Lothlórien Elves march up the Causeway into the Hornburg, led by Haldir. The Rohirrim soldiers look upon them in wonderment and delight as they pass by. Théoden met Haldir at the stair, the king shared at them in amazement as Haldir bowed in respect. "How is this possible?" Théoden questioned. Haldir straightened himself and said. "I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between Elves and men. Long ago we fought and died together."
He looks up to see Aragorn, Amdiriel, Legolas, and Gimli making their way through the crowd and then run down the steps with smiles. "We come to honor that allegiance." Haldir said with a smile.
"Welcome, Haldir." Aragorn says as he walks down the stairs. The two bowed to each other for a moment before Aragorn hugged the elf. Haldir was stunned for a moment but hugged back. "You are most welcomed." Aragorn told him and moved to the side to let the others greet him. Legolas and Haldir clasp each other on the shoulder. Gimli stood off to the side and nodded to the elf in acknowledgment while Amdiriel stepped forward. She smiled at her friend and bowed her head to his as he did to her. He then pulled her in for a hug. "Thank the Valar you are alright." he said as she pulled away. "They saw didn't they?" she asked referring to her Uncle and grandparents. Haldir nodded "They knew there was no way we could get to you in time so we were sent for aid and vengeance." he said with a wicked smile. Amdiriel mirrored his smile, "Vengence still needs to be served." She replied. Haldir nodded. "My deepest condolences, he loved you very much." he told her. "Thank you."
Amdiriel then stepped aside and looked to the army before her. The whole army then turned to look to her and then turned swiftly towards her and stood at the ready. She bowed her head to them and they returned the action. Amdiriel turned back to face Théoden as Haldir spoke again. "We are proud to fight aside men once more."
They spent some time discussing battle plans and placement before they headed for the outer wall of the fortress. Amdiriel walked in the middle of Aragorn and Haldir, Legolas and Gimli had already headed towards their position. "Really, you got dragged off a cliff? Of all ways, you could have been killed?" Haldir joked. "You have no idea, of all the ways I could have died, I had to nearly die in the least most dramatic way possible." Amdiriel replied sarcastically. They laughed for a moment. "Be careful." Amdiriel told Haldir as he walked off to his side of the battlement. Haldir nodded his head to her and Aragorn.
Aragorn and Amdiriel walked over to where Gimli was grumbling about the placement of where Legolas had chosen to be stationed on the battlement because he couldn't see what was happening. "Well, lassie, whatever luck you live by, let's hope it lasts the night." Gimli said as the two joined them. The thunder then sounded through the air, lightning flashed in the sky, revealing the sea of uruk-hai marching towards them.
"Your friends are with you both." Legolas then reminded them. "Let's hope they last the night." Gimli replied. They then smirked at each other before Amdiriel and Aragorn walked off as the rain started to fall. They walked behind some line of elves, Aragorn turned to Amdiriel and pulled her in for a kiss. "Be careful and stay close." he mumbled against her lips. "I will." she replied and kissed him quickly before she too went off to the middle of the battlement.
The rain began to pour against the metal of their armor, soaking them to the bone as Aragorn then sounded off orders "Show them no mercy! For you shall receive none!"
The Uruk Captain raises his hand and yells, making the army come to a halt. The Uruks grunt and growl at them.
Not too long after Aragorn joined Amdiriel's side. They said nothing but they stared down the enemy, both sides unfazed by the rain.
Gimli then starts to jump up and down. "What's happening out there?" he asks.
"Shall I describe it to you?" Legolas asks and then looks down at the dwarf "Or would you like me to find you a box?" the Elf asks, Gimli to everyone surprise just laughs.
The Uruks then start to hit their spears on the ground in unison as well as bang on their chest.
Aragorn takes out his sword but Amdiriel pulls out her bow. Each side waits for the first move. Just then an arrow flies down out of now where and hits an Uruk in the neck. "Hold!" Aragorn orders as the Orc that got shot falls to the ground face first.
The other Uruks whoever were outraged and started to growl in fury. The Uruk Captain thrust forward his hand and shouted orders. The Uruk-hai army now advancing on Helm's Deep.
"Prepare to fire!" Aragorn ordered. The elves loaded their bows in unison and aimed their arrows including Amidirel as repeated Aragorn's order in elvish again.
"Release arrows." Aragorn yelled once the Uruk-hai were in range. The elves hit their mark, wiping out the first row of Uruk-hai. The elves continue to fire as Aragorn yells different commands but the Uruk-hai army keep advancing, with more replacing those fallen. They eventually make it to the wall and lifted their ladders on to the wall and started to climb up. "Ladders!" Amdiriel warned followed by Aragorn calling out "Swords! Swords!" "Swords!" called out to her kin in their native tongue who then all puled their swords from their backs and stood at the ready as the Uruk-hai emerged from the ladders, causing Amdiriel too to switch from bow to sword. She cut down the first Uruk-hai that tried to get over the ladder in front of her. Her original plan was to stop the Uruk-hai before they could even step foot onto the fortress but that plan failed when an Uruk-hai came from behind her. Amdiriel bent backward dodging the blade that would have cut her in half, she straightened up and cutting his arm off and then stabbing him in the stomach. The creature died with a faint growl but Amdiriel was already engaged in another fight.
In the distance Amdiriel could hear Gimli arguing with Legolas about how many Uruk-hai he had cut down already. "Argh! I'll have no pointy-ear outscoring me!" Gimli growled and whacked an Uruk-hai that was on a ladder in the groin. Amdiriel moved over to Legolas. She blocked an incoming blow that would have struck her elf friend in the back before decapitating it. "When did you start having a competition and why was I not included?" she asked as she killed another Uruk-hai. "We technically started when we on our way here but then we thought you died so we did not bother with the competition." Legolas explained as he put an arrow through the enemy in front of him. "And I was not told about this because?" she asked again. "We thought you were dead!" Legolas told her again as he sidestepped another Uruk-hair only for him to be met with Amdiriel's blade across his body.
Yells, grunts of both pain and effort along with the sound of metal clanging against metal. Amdiriel made her way back to Aragorn's side, making sure that each other was okay. The two then looked to the ladders closes to them, both of them having the same idea. Both killed the enemy in front of them before they made their way over to each of their ladders. Amdiriel grabbed apart of the chain that was on the side of the ladder using it to hold her up so she can use her feet to kick down the Uruk-hai that was trying to climb over the wall. Once her feet hit the ground, she pushed against the ladder, eventually making fall back, smashing the Uruk-hai on the ground and on the ladder when it fell.
Amdiriel blocked high and kicked out of the legs of the Uruk-hai causing him to fall to the floor before Amdiriel stabbed him. She looked up and saw from across the way, a group of Uruk-hai walking straight towards the gate, all of them holding thick shields in front of them and above them. "Causeway! Aim towards the Causeway!" Amdiriel yelled at her kin, this caught Aragorn's attention. He called out the same command after what he saw. All elves who were on the wall firing at the Uruk-hai all turned and took aim, all the Uruk-hai on the outer edge then fell to their doom.
Amdiriel then caught Aragorn's eye, he quickly nodded to her and she nodded back before they both reengaged into the fight around them. Amdiriel punched the Uruk-hai in front of her before ran for the wall, using the momentum to kick herself up higher. Mid-air she turned back to the Uruk-hai and raised her sword high above her head, bringing her blade down, killing the creature. Amdiriel then fell to the ground but quickly turned around onto her back to see a Uruk-hai ready to kill her but she was quick enough and used her sword to cut his legs out from under him. The Uruka-hai then fell to the ground in pain before Amdiriel ended him. Amdiriel heard a growl and turned around to see an Uruk-hai being stabbed in the stomach. The creature fell the ground dead but behind him stood Aragorn. His hand latched onto hers as he looked over her face. "You alright?" he asked making her nod. Amdiriel could have sworn she could get lost in his eyes even as the world battled o the death around them. But the would-be moment was lost all too soon when attacks came from both sides.
Amdiriel looked down into the crowd of Uruk-hai and saw one of them carrying a torch but was running straight for the wall. Amdiriel did not know what it may have been or what Saruman may have conjured up but she knew no matter what it would not be good. Just as Amdiriel was about to call for Aragorn he joined her side and saw what she had. "Bring him down, Legolas!" Aragorn called out. Amdiriel knew below them was the drain and hat is where she suspected the Uruk-hai to be headed. "Get back! Clear the area! Move away!" Amdiriel yelled to her kin as she pushed them out of the way of danger. Amdiriel could tell by the way Aragorn was yelling that Legolas had yet to kill the Uruk-hai. Amdiriel then ran to where Aragorn was standing thinking it would be safe but then the explosion went off and the blast was bigger than what she had expected.
Rock, debris, and bodies are thrown up. Aragorn and Amdiriel are both thrown back by the force of the explosion and on the ground, knocked out. The two were only out for a few seconds but in a battle those seconds can be vital and they were. When Aragorn came to, he shook his head trying to clear away the pain. He then looked around but did not see Amdiriel until he turned on his back. He could see her still knocked out but she was fifteen yards away from him and with several Uruk-hai advancing on her. Aragorn got to his feet just as Gimli called out Amdiriel's name before jumping off of the fortress and into the sea of Uruk-hai. "Gimli!" Aragorn called out but luckily for them it had been a good enough distraction for the Uruk-ahi because Amdiriel had now wakened up and was pushing herself to her feet. "Prepare to fire!" she instructed the elves in front of her but behind Aragorn. She too grabbed her bow and took aim even on her knees. Gimli was soon overpowered and pushed into the water it was at that moment that Aragorn yelled out urgently as the Uruk-hai got closer to Amdiriel "Hurl the arrows!" Amdiriel's arrows joined that of those around her and lodged itself into the neck of an Uruk-hai. Amdiriel put away her bow and picked up her sword from the ground and killed the Uruk-hai closest to her.
Aragorn then raised his sword and yelled "To the princess!" with that the elves joined them and charged full-on towards the Uruk-hai that was streaming in. Aragorn dodges a spear but makes his way through the bodies, decapitating the Uruk-hai that stood between him and Amdiriel. He couldn't help it, he pulled her in close and gave her a quick kiss. "Stop scaring me!" he yelled to her as she pushed him out of the way and killed the Uruk-hai. "No promises, my lord!" she yelled back this caused Aragorn to chuckle as he pulled up Gimli to his feet who had somehow landed in the water again.
At the top of the battlements, Legolas grabs a shield and sends it sliding across the ground. He then hops onto it and surfs down the steps, releasing three arrows as he goes, and kicking the shield to stab an Uruk-hai as he lands at the bottom. "Oh so nice of you to join us, princeling!" Amdiriel teased as she cut down another enemy. "You are just jealous, you could not make that look as good." he replied and shot another Uruk-hai in the neck. "Legolas you and I both know I can make it look better and easier." she teased him. Legolas was about to reply but he had to duck out of the way quickly to avoid an enemy blade. He was about to stab the thing but a small blade stuck out from his stomach. The Uruk-hai fell to the floor and Amdiriel pulled out her dagger "You're welcome." she said causing Legolas to roll his eyes "Yeah, yeah." was all he said to her before he let his mind focus on the battle around him.
Suddenly Théoden's voice came from above them. "Aragorn! Amdiriel! Pull back to the Keep! Get your men out of there!" The two looked to each other and nodded, each turning in different directions before yelling the same command. "To the Keep! Pull back to the Keep!" they yelled. Amdiriel sidestepped an Uruk-hai cut off his arm before swiping her blade across its throat "To the Keep!" she yelled again.
