Nuo really wanted to try a bagel with cream cheese with some eggs. Luckily, the eggs were sizzling on the frying pan.

"You mind if I get some bagels?" he asked.

"Sure, go on ahead. You can either toast them or not." his stepfather replied.

Nuo once had bagels untoasted when he was young...they didn't taste very good. He toasted these bagels while he prepared the final thing for his meal: a glass of juice.

Once he'd finished toasting his food, he'd get his orange juice ready and sat at the dining table, beginning to eat.

The question's in his head he would keep to himself. The food tasted really good.

For the rest of the morning, Nuo not only enjoyed his breakfast, but also enjoyed conversing and interacting with his family.

Finally, there was peace, at last.

Then he remembered, he had to meet Ruria in an hour.

"I've gotta get moving! I have to go meet up with my friend Ruria!" he exclaimed, and added before he left the dining room, "Take care!"

"Take care." His sisters said in unison and waved goodbye together.

As Nuo went outside, he breathed in some fresh air, and knew that it was a great day to be alive. The chaos had finally been quelled. He even decided to jog there which wasn't how he usually moved around.

Eventually, he got to where Ruria was waiting for him, and said with a smile, "Took you long enough."

Nuo had no clever comebacks for her, even though he was the one who acted the most witty in their group.

"Nice new mask. Why a black fox mask?"

"Well, I wanted to get myself a mask that didn't have any suspicious markings or anything like that." Ruria replied.

"It looks great on you." he told her.

Through that mask she was blushing. A part of her was hoping Nuo forgot what she looked like behind this mask, because if attention was only on her beauty she would be lonely forever.

"Thanks, Nuo...that's by far the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me." Ruria replied.

Nuo and her went to a small bookstore in a strip mall first.

"So is there anything you want to check out and read?" he asked Ruria.

"Well, maybe a book about faeries since I'll be cosplaying as a satyr next month."

"They sure make you do some weird photo shoot's." Nuo commented.

Ruria chuckled, before they took some time looking for the books in question. Soon, they'd the one she had been seeking.

She found a very good book about a girl finding a faerie world right across the river. Seeing the way she read the book was the same filial attraction Nuo got from his real father's book reading.

She looked up and smiled at him, to which he wound up smiling back.

'Such a smile. I don't want her smile to ever stop gleaming.'

Eight Years Later

Nuo was taking a nap on his couch after solving a two day long case at his office. He only got three hours of his powernap when a gentle finger poked his shoulder. He awoke seeing his beautiful wife and her smiling face.

"Good afternoon!" was Ruria's voice, and that prompted him to let out a long yawn. "Hey...good afternoon to you, too." he replied.

He finally opened his eyes enough to see her in her pink flower petals, white circle, white kimono, and wearing a black fox mask with their son Ray holding her hand.

Ray inherited his father's white skin, hazel eyes, had thin brown hair closer to his mother's, and was wearing a black fox mask around his head like his mother.

"I know today is suppose to be your day off," a little muffled with that fox mask, but her vocals gawned on it, "but there's a festival tonight and Ray really wants daddy to be there."

Nuo stood up and smiled at both Ruria and Ray. "Of course I'll be there, Drew." he told his son.

Nuo of course only had a yutaka, but no fox mask to complete the family theme. Maybe he'd buy one once they got to the festival.

Later on, in the day, he put on his yukata and headed out to see Ruria and Ray. "How come you don't have a mask?" Ray asked.

"About that; I'll be able to grab one when we get there." Nuo replied.

Nuo put on his coat. He may be going to a festival, but it's always close at some time of the day.

"I heard Camille is going to graduate teachers' college two years from now. Do you think she will be Ray's teacher someday?" Ruria asked.

"I think if she's the same girl she was, she would pick a location much, much harder for the police to get to her. In Layman's Terms, she would pick a job on a small island." Nuo explained.

"I see..." Ruria responded.

Eventually, they've reached the festival, and there were many people frolicking around the stands and such.

"Isn't your boss creating a school on an island?" Ruria asked.

"Yes. Unlike finding out what happened to her father...Camille doesn't have to go into Aethba's swimming pool."

Ray asked, "Hey, Daddy, who's Aethba?" This inquiry immediately caught Nuo's attention.

"Just some bum of a god your father spanked a few years ago. I of course would never spank you, but a child that doesn't get yelled at when they misbehave is what I like to call 'spoiled'."

Ruria remembered how after that day, his days as a Kaiba Corp detective were gone and he was stuck finding his own cases to solve.

"Do you miss going in and out of a building, to do cases instead of sitting on a chair all day waiting for a case to present itself?"

"I certainly don't miss Kaiba, but yeah I miss feeling like a spy."

By the time Nuo finished his rant, they had arrived at the costume store. Soon they were in the mask section. Nuo picked up a white fox mask.

"Mommy already picked out black, so how about white?" Ray shook his head. "Red? Blue?" Ray continued shaking his head until he finally pointed to a pink fox mask. "Oh...you want me to wear a pink mask?"

"Pretty please?" Ray asked.

Nuo sighed, and replied, "Alright then. Pink it is."

Nuo went to the counter and bought the pink mask. With a heavy sigh, he slipped the mask on.

Ruria smiled, and said, "You look great wearing that mask!"

"I do?" Nuo asked, and couldn't help but blush at her words. "Uh...thanks." he replied.

They finally had the time to enjoy the festival. Just then, Nuo noticed the shooting range with the stuffed animals. Just as he noticed it, Ray started pointing to it. His enthusiasm brought on an interesting topic he wanted to share.

"Daddy never fired a gun before, but...mommy was in a few movies with guns."

Ruria gave him a hard nudge in his shoulder, sort of like sticking needles in his ganglia.

"I appreciate the confidence you have in me, but mommy still needs some hush-hush on her private F.T history."

They laughed together, before Nuo went to take one of the shooting guns, and was instructed to position it correctly.

Nuo took one breath in, aimed his gun, but he felt something else pulled the trigger. It may have just been Aethba messing with him. Either way his gun shot down all the targets.

Ruria and Ray cheered and clapped, before Ray eagerly walked over to the stuffed toys.

He was handed a toy much bigger than he was. The person behind the counter must have known he was the contenders son.

"Hey, are you the son of well-known Nuo?" the woman asked.

"Yep!" Ray replied, hoisting up the banana doll in his hands.

"Of yeah. He's the detective who said 'life would be so much easier if everyone was as sublime as a cat. Enjoy that toy little shadow."

Ray chuckled, before he told his parents, "Let's do something else here!"

Nuo agreed, but before any suggestions could be made, he noticed Anzu in the festival, all now grown up and looking foxy, by herself. What was she doing back in New Domino City after leaving to join a dance school and train to be maybe a ballerina or an actual stage dancer.

"Nuo! Over here!" she called out to him. This got his attention, and beckoned her to walk over to him and his family.

"Oh, you look great! How was life outside Domino City?" Nuo asked.

"I loved it and it didn't feel like I was paid in a lucre kind of way. I did miss my friends while I was there though, and even missed you a little. I heard you don't work for Kaiba anymore."

"Yeah, I've decided to strike and work on my own." Nuo replied.

"Independent, perhaps?" Anzu asked with a smile.

"Not like that guy has time for a detective anymore," Nuo admitted. "His new project requires people who work long hours for very little money, and I made a good life to try that shoddy deal. By the way, did you come here with anyone?"

"I came with Yugi. He should be around here somewhere." she said gazing around instead of looking at Nuo.

"Yugi! Where are you?" she called out for him.

It wouldn't take long for Yugi to notice, and began dispersing from the crowd so as to meet up with her.

He had a little broader chin and more muscles on his body. Nuo thought he was fine, but Nuo was entirely straight. He was holding a paper cone with octopus balls in it. Looked good.

"Nuo. Your here. Good to see you." Yugi said.

"Hey, Yugi!" Nuo exclaimed as he hugged him. "It's so great to see you again after all these years!"

"Me too! And it's great having seen Anzu after she came back from out of town." Yugi replied.

Nuo felt this to be a very good reunion...ruined by the very thing Ray wanted to see, fireworks. Normally it would be the father who would carry their son on their shoulders, but this time Ruria lifted Ray herself.

"Look, Mommy!" he exclaimed, pointing at the sky. Ruria looked up, as did Nuo, both with smiles on their faces.

Ray seemed to be fascinated at where he believed the fireworks were going to go off.

"They really are so colorful and full of life." Nuo replied, as he and his family would continue to spend the rest of the festival in peace, even with their closest friends.

He didn't notice, but Jounochi and Honda walked by him and watched the fireworks with him. They looked more like men and less like delinquent boys.

After the festival ended, Ruria helped Ray to bed while Nuo reached in to get the pente board.

"What on earth are you doing? Aren't you gonna get ready for bed, too?" Ruria's voice called out once he set it up.

Nuo slipped on his fox mask. He had a seductive look through that mask.

"Let's try having a little fun, dear. Strip Pente, first one to lose takes off the mask. But first, how about a kiss."

Even though he said he was going for a kiss, he kept his mask on. Ruria slipped her mask back on, realizing what he was trying to do.

Close together, they kissed mask against mask.

And with that, the game had begun. All on a pleasant night such as this...
