Author's Notes: Oh my gooooosh! I can't believe we're finally here in Episode 8! All I'll say is that I'm super excited about this episode, as it contains some things I've been thinking about for absolute ages!

Episode 8 Part 1

With one day remaining before the end of the game, the Mole seeks to bring about a final dose of chaos and the two surviving players struggle to one-up one another. As Anderson's machinations seek to push them well beyond their limits, the players push ahead, driven by their will to answer one question for the final time: Who is the Mole?

The final three were awoken at 5:00 a.m. by the sound of the phone ringing. Mallow and Toadiko managed to drag themselves to their respective phones, while Shy Guy watched his puffy roommate from the comfort of his covers.

"The final execution will be at sundown." All the usual levity was gone from Anderson's voice, leaving only matter-of-fact menace. "Please meet me down in the lobby. We have a long day ahead of us."

Mallow: Ugh. With the last challenge ending at midnight, Anderson barely gave us any time to sleep. Not that I could've slept well anyways. Too much is riding on tonight's quiz. I'm super stressed, excited, and scared all in one!

Shy Guy: The only bad thing about getting an exemption last episode is that now I don't actually know how well I'm doing at the quiz. For all I know, the other player will demolish me tonight. But there's no time for thoughts like that. I have to keep my eyes on the prize.

Toadiko: Waking up in an empty room was tough. I miss Mona, and her absence is a physical reminder of what's to come. Can I rise to this challenge, or will I follow in my roommate's footsteps and become the Mole's final victim? I guess there's only one way to find out.

The players were only given enough time to scarf down some breakfast and guzzle some coffee before Anderson approached them. "Welcome to your finale," he said, his voice gaining a tiny bit of pep, but still remaining relatively dark and serious. "While there is technically one more episode after this, this is the last one in which you will be competing in missions."
"Missions, plural?" asked Toadiko.

Anderson shrugged. "You will find out soon enough. For now, we need to get going. As some of you have guessed, the city of Villepario will not be the setting of your final bout with the Mole."

"Where's left to go?" asked Mallow.

"I believe it was Mona who correctly predicted it," said Anderson. "We first need to head onto the high seas, if only for a bit. Please, follow me."

The early morning pier was so thick with fog that one would be forgiven for not seeing the large ferry pulling up beside it, even with the blinking lights running down its side. The players stood on the dock, watching it gently glide towards them, bags in one hand, journals in the other. When the ferry finally came to a stop, a ramp slowly slid across the short gap and landed on the planks with a weak thunk.

Anderson stepped aboard the ferry. "It may not be as luxurious as the Cactuar Express, but this is how we will be travelling to our final destination." His tone was getting lighter with each quip. The players filed on after him, first Mallow, then Shy Guy, then Toadiko. The ramp retracted soon afterwards. This was it. There was no stopping their final leg of the journey.

The ferry's propellers groaned to life once more, slowly pulling the boat away from the pier and towards the open water. For the first time Episode 3, they were leaving the mainland Mushroom Kingdom.

The ferry moved painfully slowly as it navigated out of the foggy harbor, the engine humming quietly as they went. However, once they were clear of the harbor and the sea breeze could clear the fog, the engines immediately picked up and they began cruising (at a still moderate pace) towards the open sea.

"Is there anything we should be doing?" Toadiko asked Anderson.

The host shook his head. "Feel free to look around for now. It should be pretty easy to find you three when I need you."

Toadiko looked back to Mallow and Shy Guy. "Shall we take a stroll around the boat?"

Shy Guy looked at her and Mallow for a moment. His gaze was clearly wary, but he eventually nodded. "Let's."

"Mallow?"

Mallow gave a thumbs-up. "I don't see why not."

Though the fog had cleared, it was still dark out, making it hard to get a good sense for everything by merely scanning it from a distance. From what they could tell, they were on a large, metal platform, with raised areas on either end. However, one other feature became plainly obvious once they took a few steps towards the middle of the ship.

"What are these huge boxes?" asked Mallow. Three wooden crates, each six feet by six feet wide and ten feet tall, sat in a neat row in the center of the ferry.

"These must be related to our first challenge," said Toadiko.

"For sure," said Shy Guy. "But who knows what's in them?"

"Hopefully it's something super cool, like rockets," said Mallow. "We gotta with a bang, right?"

"That certainly would be quite the finish," said Shy Guy. "Though I wonder if our next challenge will be the last."

"Right," said Mallow. "I assumed it would be one big mission, like Mona suggested, but maybe it's a few smaller ones."

"I'm honestly not sure which I would prefer," said Toadiko. "But I suppose we will know in due time. Shall we keep exploring?"

Shy Guy and Mallow nodded, so they kept walking. They didn't find anything else of interest on the main platform, so they decided to climb up to the front platform. There they got an excellent view of the inky black sea they were cutting through. And it seemed that they weren't the only ones enjoying the view.

"Hold on," said Shy Guy, pointing towards a figure leaning on the railing. "Is that…?"

"Bowser!" gasped Mallow, perhaps a bit louder than he intended.

Bowser looked over his shoulder, immediately spotting the trio. "Long time no see, runts," he grunted before turning back to the sea.

"So uh, your scariness, are we about to fight or something?" asked Shy Guy.

"Do I look like I'm about to beat you up?" asked Bowser.

"You always look like you're going to beat someone up," said Toadiko.

Bowser grinned, turning back to the trio to show his fangs. "Heh, thanks."

"That wasn't a compliment."

"You're at the end of a game that's all about being a jerk and lying to people and you still don't think looking rough and tough is a good thing?" asked Bowser.

"But it's not just about that!" said Toadiko. "It's about keeping a cool head under pressure and building relationships despite all the distrust!"

Bowser snorted. "If this game was about being a goody two shoes then Mario would be here instead of one of you."

"I have to agree with King Bowser here," said Shy Guy.

"What!"

"The friendships are nice, but they only happen when you think you can allow them," said Shy Guy. "Most of this game has been about building walls and developing doubt, even if the end has been a bit more sweet."

"Heh. This guy gets it!" said Bowser.

"Ugh, that's so pessimistic though," said Toadiko. "We're supposed to beat the Mole, not fall into their mindset."

"Maybe it's about both of those things," said Mallow.

Bowser rolled his eyes. "You're really trying to find compromise here, cloudy?"

Mallow ignored him. "This game is about the Mole, and how we try to beat them. It's about how a group of strangers comes together to try to win, and how each player copes with the threat. Maybe it's through cunning, maybe it's through optimism, or maybe it's through learning from the mistakes of a lost friend."

"So you're saying all Mario was good for in this game was a lesson for a wimp like you?" asked Bowser. "Gwa ha ha! He really wasn't built for this."

Mallow clenched his fist. "Are we fighting you or not, Bowser?" he snapped.

Mallow: I'm not gonna put up with him being so rude to Mario like that! Mario was a better player than I'll ever be, and I'm not about to let his legacy be disrespected in the end!

"I'm just here to enjoy the ride," said Bowser. "And to bug you. Can't have you punks feeling calm going into the end!"

"So Anderson brought you along just to mess with us?" asked Toadiko.

"I've been messing with you all game!" said Bowser. "We've fought like three times. I'm basically this game's VIP! I deserve to be there at the end!"

Toadiko: "VIP" is perhaps going a bit far in a game named after the Mole, but he raises a good point.

No one could think of a good counter to the Koopa King's argument, so the trio fell into silence and eventually joined him at the railing. They watched as the sky began to turn a gentle pink, signaling an imminent sunrise. The moment they saw the sun poke over the horizon, they heard a voice call to them from the main deck.

"Players!" Anderson's tone was suddenly peppier than ever. "The day has officially begun, so let's kick it off with a mission!"

The trio looked down at the main deck. The three huge crates had been dismantled, and in their place were three booths, each featuring a button on a podium and a large wall bedazzled with flashing lights. Each came in a color corresponding with a player: red, white, and pink.

Shy Guy: These things looked like they came right out of a cheesy game show.

Anderson fully committed to the tacky aesthetic, wearing a bright blue suit and a striped bowtie. "Step on down, ladies and germs. It's time for a quiz shoooooow!"

"Already?" gasped Mallow. "But he said that wasn't until tonight!"

"This doesn't look like an execution," said Shy Guy. "He'd be playing up the drama way more. This is something different."

The players looked at each other confusedly before cautiously walking down the stairs. "Hopefully it will be fun," said Toadiko.

"And here are our players!" said Anderson. "Come on everyone, let's give them a hand!" He and a few crew members gave them a polite golf clap.

"Booo!" Bowser shouted from the bow.

"Go ahead and take your places while I explain the rules," said Anderson, motioning to the three booths. Each player quickly found their booth as Anderson straightened his tie. "This challenge is called Flashback Fun! Since the final execution quiz will cover the Mole's actions spanning all the way back to Episode 1, I figured I'd be a kind host and help jog your memory about everything you've done so far!"

"That actually does sound quite useful," said Toadiko.

"Of course, it wouldn't be fun if there weren't something on the line," said Anderson. "For each of the 20 questions you get right, you'll win 1,000 coins for the team pot for a possible total of 20,000 coins!"

"Is there a catch?" asked Shy Guy.

"That depends on how you define a catch," said Anderson. "If you consider punishment for failure to be a catch, then sure."

"Oh boy," said Mallow, tapping nervously on his podium.

"Here's how it goes: I will read you all a question. You can't talk to each other about it. Rely on that brain of yours! When you have an answer, hit the buzzer and shout it out."

"So the punishment?" asked Mallow.

"There's two," said Anderson. "First, if you get a question wrong, not only do you not earn the 1,000 coins, but you lose another 1,000 coins! And that's the only chance you get to answer that question. Second, if no one buzzes in within five seconds, then that penalty is upped to 2,000 coins! Do you understand?"

Toadiko: Has Anderson ever penalized us like this? Usually the only thing that happens if we fail is missing out on some coins. Now he's actively taking from our winnings?

The players took a second to process his instructions before nodding. "Excellent! Let's begin!"

Flashback Fun Quiz

#1 – Let's start with an easy one! Which piece of art did the thieves steal in Cultural Criminal?

Mallow: Hold on, these aren't multiple choice?

Toadiko: Shy Guy and I spent so much time discussing this one that there's no way I'd forget it!

Buzz!

"Toadiko!" Anderson said, pointing at the Toad. "What's your answer?"

"Young Mushroom Princess!" Toadiko said confidently.

"Ding! Correctamundo!" said Anderson, clapping enthusiastically. "That's 1,000 coins in the bag!"

#2 – What did Wolley have to overcome to escape in Volcanic Breakout?

Shy Guy: This is a tricky one. We were all locked up in our own cells for that mission. What was it he said he had to deal with again?

Toadiko: Wolley's dumb tattoo was the big focus of that day. That and how mad I was at him. Come on Toadiko, think!

"Five… four… three…"

Buzz!

"Toadiko again!" said Anderson.

Toadiko snapped her fingers rapidly, trying to jog her memory. "He saw this weird painting of his tattoo, and then… ahhh what was it?"

"Your answer now, please."

Toadiko snapped her fingers and grinned. "The paint turned into a weird goopy Piranha Plant!" she confidently declared.

"I believe it's called a Polluted Piranha," said Anderson. He paused for a moment. "But your answer is good enough! 2,000 coins!"

#3 – Who interrogated witnesses during the investigation on the Cactuar Express?

Mallow: We were tracking down a thief, right? Shy Guy and I were the ones reviewing camera footage. Gosh, who else was still there in that episode? Was Wolley still around?

Shy Guy: We had three groups: communicators, tech users, and intense people. I was with Mallow, and I think Toadiko and Timpani were together.

Buzz!

"Shy Guy!" said Anderson.

"It was Mona."

"Ding ding! That's right! Only one member of the final five was intense enough to get a confession, and that was our dearly departed Mona. 3,000 coins! You all are on a roll!"

#4 – Which players were in the boat in Super Mole Bros?

Toadiko: Oh my, that's all the way back in Episode 1! I haven't thought about that mission in ages.

Mallow: I was in the air group, but I don't really remember who was in the other groups.

Shy Guy: I think I was in a group with Toadiko, but I can't really remember who else was there. All I know is that Mario was on his own.

"Five… four… three… two… one…"

Buzz!

"And a last second buzz from Shy Guy!"

"Oh jeez, here we go," muttered Shy Guy. "I wanna say Jolene, Monty, and Mona?"

"You'd like to say that, but I'm afraid you wouldn't be right," Anderson said, shaking his head. Bowser cackled loudly in the distance. "The answer was Jolene, Monty, and Daisy."

Shy Guy sighed loudly. "Sorry guys."

"At least someone answered," said Mallow.

"That's a 1,000-coin penalty for your wrong answer, setting you back to 2,000 coins," said Anderson. "But hey, there's still plenty of questions to go!"

#5 – Who was the last player to go down the pipe in Pipeline Rocketboard?

Toadiko: Wow, all the way back to our very first challenge! It may be distant, but I still remember it clearly. Gosh, to think I once believed that would be the scariest thing I ever did.

Mallow: Of course I remember this! I was so scared to go, but he was the one who helped me find my bravery again.

Buzz! Click!

"Looks like two players hit their buttons at almost the exact same time," said Anderson. "But only the first one buzzed, and it sounds like it came from… Mallow!"

"Mario!"

"It'sa him," Anderson said with a nod. "He really tried his best to play the hero, didn't he? Anywho, that puts you back up to 3,000 coins!"

#6 – Speaking of Mario, who was his partner in Poached Corn?

Shy Guy: Right, that night in the corn maze near Petalburg. We were being chased by hunters while our partners guided us out. I remember giving Mario a high five as he left the maze, but who was his partner?

Toadiko: That mission? What a fright! Waking us up in the middle of the night to chase us around a field really wasn't fun at the time, but it's a fun memory now I suppose.

"Five.. four…"

Mallow: I thought Mario's partner was maybe Shy Guy, but if he didn't buzz then it's gotta be someone else.

"Three… Two…"

Buzz!

"Mallow!"

"Okay this is just a guess, but I didn't want time to run out. Daisy?"

"Unfortunately, that wasn't a right guess," said Anderson.

"Dang it!" Mallow hit his fist weakly against the podium. "Sorry guys."

"The answer was that rapscallion, Wolley," said Anderson. "Back down to 2,000 coins you go!"

#7 – Perhaps you need something a little more recent. Who caught who in Cultural Criminal?

Shy Guy: Even though I was running away the whole time, I still remember it clear as day.

Toadiko: Getting caught stings a little less now that I made it past the execution. Guess I didn't need the exemption after all!

Buzz! Click! Click!

"Goodness, you all knew that one right away!" said Anderson. "But Toadiko was the one with the fastest fingers."

"Mona caught me," said Toadiko casting a fake glare towards Shy Guy.

"It seems she was punished for serving justice," said Anderson. "But yes, that's right! 3,000 coins for the third time!"

#8 – What was the name of the bonus game played at the end of Episode 1?

Mallow: Huh, I almost forgot about that one. Didn't Daisy waste the prize?

Shy Guy: Right, that game with the scaffolding in Peach's Castle. We rolled dice against each other, and the loser was sent plummeting.

"Five… four… three… two… one…"

Click!

"Ah, just a moment too late, Toadiko," said Anderson.

"Oh come on," she groaned.

"The answer you all were looking for is Tops and Trapdoors!"

"Well, it's not like I had the right answer anyways," said Toadiko.

"Still, a wrong answer would've saved you 1,000 coins," said Anderson. "As it stands, you're back to 1,000."

Shy Guy: These results really don't bode well for the final execution quiz. At least we're all equally bad.

#9 – Who played the role of the cowboys in Ranch Revolt?

Toadiko: This was near the end of our first episode in the Yell Yell Desert. The cowboys were driving away bandits, and the rest of us were keeping watch. Oh, and I think Mallow was counting cows!

Shy Guy: Toadiko and I were together, and I think there were two cowboys. At that point in the game, I know exactly who would've signed up for that.

"Five…"

Buzz!

"Shy Guy!"

"Wolley and Mona," said Shy Guy. "That's exactly the sort of role they loved."

"And it was exactly the role they chose!" said Anderson. "You're back to 2,000 coins!"

#10 – Not counting the final battle for your lost luggage, how many challenges did the Master give you in Mushroom City?

Toadiko: Right, the second half of that episode was dedicated to a plot about Anderson supposedly getting kidnapped, and we had to finish all these tiny missions before we could save him. Say, whatever happened to Anderson's Gloomba assistant who filled in for him?

Shy Guy: Another one that's hard to remember, since we were all split up. Timpani and I were in a maze, and Toadiko and Wolley were baking, but what were the others?

Mallow: I did the remix of these challenges in Episode 5, so I should really know this. I just gotta count them up.

"Five… four… three… two…"

Buzz!

"Mallow!"

Mallow looked down and counted the fingers he was holding up. "Five!" he said confidently. "There were four pairs, and I played alone."

"Ding ding ding! Five challenges where you all tried your hardest to save me!" said Anderson. "For the fourth time, you have 3,000 coins!"

#11 – What was the penalty for looking in the box on the train ride to Mushroom City?

Shy Guy: I'd spent a good part of the game wondering if I should regret not looking in the box, but I suppose I didn't need to.

Mallow: I'm still surprised Mario looked. I thought he was more honest than that!

Toadiko: All three of us didn't look, if I'm remembering right. I wonder if the Mole knew what was in there already. Was it useful? I guess not, if we're here and the ones who looked aren't."

"Fi-"

Buzz!

"Shy Guy!"

"You lost a chance to get an exemption."

Anderson nodded. "That's a good start, but I need a bit more."

"Huh? Oh, uh." He paused for a moment, rubbing his temples and furrowing his brow. "Because you spent a night in a jail cell!"

"There it is! I hear it wasn't too comfy," said Anderson. "But with that right answer, you finally rise to 4,000 coins!"

#12 – Who was the winner of Greed of the Miner?

Mallow: I wanted to say Monty, but he wasn't even there that episode! Jeez, Petal Meadows was so busy that that mini challenge sort of slips my mind.

Toadiko: We were mining coins out of a wall, and whoever got the most was the winner. I can't quite remember what the stakes were. Clearly it wasn't so huge.

"Five… four… three…"

Buzz!

"Toadiko!"

"It was Daisy, right?" she said, sounding very unsure.

"Well, Daisy certainly won something from that mission. But it was a -1 and it was because she was the loser," said Anderson.

"Dang it!"

"It's an understandable answer though," said Anderson. "The real winner was her very similar, inseparable friend, Mona!"

"There's a whole lot of Mona in this quiz, isn't there?" asked Shy Guy.

Anderson shrugged. "She was in the game for quite a while, so it's only natural that she crops up here. Anywho, that's back to 3,000 coins for the fifth time! Do you all just like the number three or something?"

#13 – Speaking of Mona, which of the Master's challenges did she do? Oh wait, this one's a two-parter! You also need to tell me who her partner was!

Toadiko: I don't think she was successful, but which one did she do again?

Mallow: Glad I already had to think through these! There was Mario and Daisy's driving challenge, my gambling challenge, Toadiko and Wolley's baking challenge, leaving…

"Five… four… three… two…"

"Got it!" Mallow snapped after running through all the challenges in his head.

"One…"

Buzz!

"Right on time, Mallow!"

"Mona and Monty had to throw coins into a fountain, right?"

Anderson pondered the answer for a few moments. "I suppose that's descriptive enough. Correct! Back to 4,000 coins you go!"

#14 – Which guest was the traitor on Gameshow Teaser?

Shy Guy: That's right, our loved ones were given a challenge inside of Thwomp Volcano while we worked our way to the bottom. We weren't able to free them in time for them to succeed, but I believe they did pretty well on their own.

Toadiko: How could I forget? He was bickering with Mario for the whole episode!

"Five…"

Buzz!

"Toadiko!"

"It was Mona's good pal Wario," said Toadiko, crossing her arms.

"Indeed it was!" said Anderson. "He's a little too loud to be a good Mole, if you ask me, but he made a great antagonist for that little mission! You're up to 5,000 coins!"

#15 – What was the name of Rosalina's character in Molesque?

Shy Guy: Ah yes, the greatest bit of acting I've ever seen. I kid, it was awful, but in that 'so bad it's good' kind of way.

Toadiko: She was clearly meant to be some sort of parody of Princess Peach. What fruit was she named for?

"Five… four… three…"

Buzz!

"Toadiko again!"

"Princess… Cherry?"

"The very same!" said Anderson.

Toadiko breathed a sigh of relief. "Jeez, I'm surprised that name was still floating around in my head."

"It's strange what things stick with you," said Anderson. "You're at 6,000 coins now! Are you finally out of that rut?"

#16 – Whose super scopes jammed during Castle Crashers?

Shy Guy: Never in my life did I expect myself to be fighting off the Koopa Troop, much less King Bowser himself! It was truly a wild ride.

Mallow: That was still so suspicious. Who jammed those super scopes and when?

"Five… four… three…"

Buzz!

"Toadiko's on a roll!"

"Mine, for starters, but also Wolley's."

"Quite the frightening moment, wasn't it?" said Anderson. "And you're remembering it just right! 7,000 coins in the bag and only four more questions to go!"

#17 – How was Timpani executed?

Mallow: That was such a weird night. To see all the Mole's victims back was great, but also a scary reminder of how much we'd lost.

Toadiko: I mostly remember quivering in my boots because Anderson decided to hold the execution atop the train!

"Five… four… three…"

Buzz!

"Four times in a row, Toadiko!"

"Just like the others: a parachute shot out of her backpack, sending her flying off the train."

"Quite the dramatic death. It was truly worthy of such a powerful player, if I do say so myself," said Anderson. "Right again! 8,000 coins!"

#18 – Speaking of Timpani, which mission did she revisit at the Remix Carnival?

Toadiko: We each had to say something we liked or were good at, which determined what we got. I said I had keen eyes. I think hers was about memory?

Shy Guy: For some reason, I can't link any mission with her.

"Five… four… three… two… one…"

"Uhhh!" Mallow blurted.

Click!

"Seems you were too late," Anderson said, shaking his head.

"I don't think I knew what it was," Mallow admitted. "I just tried to buzz so we wouldn't get the penalty."

"I don't blame you all for not knowing," said Anderson. "It was actually a bit of a trick question! Her remix was not based on a mission, but on the execution quizzes."

"That's not fair!" said Toadiko. "The question could've been less tricky."

"And you could've had better memory," said Anderson. "But that miss will cost you all 2,000 coins, putting you back down to 6,000. If you're lucky, you can get back up to where you were by the end."

#19 – Who dueled Jolene in Orangarst?

Toadiko: It was certainly shocking to see the executed players come back in Episode 6. Even more so that we had to fight them for the stolen jewels.

Mallow: I can't believe she got in an actual boxing match with Jolene. That must've hurt!

Buzz! Click!

"Hmmm, looks like Toadiko was first. Sorry Mallow," said Anderson.

"We're talking about Timpani for the third question in a row," said Toadiko.

"Indeed!" said Anderson. "Like Mona, her long tenure in the game made her a prolific player worthy of many questions. Anywho, that's 7,000 coins!"

#20 – Who is the Mole?

Click! Click! Click!

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" said Anderson. "We're not ready to unveil that secret quite yet! But I'm glad you all are so confident in your theories."

#20 (For Real) – Which mission did Mario host at the Remix Carnival?

Shy Guy: None of us had his mission, if I'm remembering right. But he was dressed as that tall Shy Guy. Yikes, that gave me the creeps.

"Five… four… three… two… one…"

Buzz!

"Toadiko?"

Toadiko shrugged. "Here goes nothing. Mona's mission."

"I need the mission itself, not who did it."

"Uhhhh, the fuzzy one, right?"

Anderson let the silence hang for a few moments. "Ding ding ding ding! That's right! And with that, all 20 of my questions have been answered, meaning Flashback Fun is officially complete!" He immediately tore off the tacky blue suit, revealing a black sweater beneath it. "Which means I can finally get out of that wretched thing."

"Results time?" asked Mallow.

Anderson nodded. "Indeed. You answered 15 questions correctly but got three wrong and failed to answer two entirely, leaving you with a final total of 8,000 coins!"

Team Pot

214,000 coins

plus

8,000 coins

Result: 222,000 coins

Possible: 440,000 coins

"Only 60,000 more coins will be offered before the game ends," said Anderson.

"So we'll have another mission or two then?" asked Toadiko.

"At least one more, yes," said Anderson. "But not here. In about an hour, we will arrive at our final destination."

"Which is?" asked Shy Guy.

"Molehill Isle."

Author's Notes: Episode 8 is officially in full swing. We may have started with a slower-paced quiz show, but Anderson's stricter punishments betray how tough the endgame may get. And what's this Molehill Isle? Well, you'll find out soon!

I'll be the first to admit that Flashback Fun was very much meant to be self-indulgent. With this story stretching over almost 10 years, I figured it would be fun (both for myself and you all) to take a look back at the many adventures the players have had. I hope some of them give you the same nostalgic feeling they give me. But if they just make you think "Huh, I kinda remember that," or "Oh, I totally forgot about that mission," then that's fine too! Either way, it gets everyone, both players and readers, thinking about what's happened over the course of the game, tells us how prepared everyone is for the final quiz, and brings up some fond memories and old suspicions to think about.
