Isabella - IPOV

Aro always seems to surprise us. I wonder why he needs to speak to Carlisle about Edward's punishment and the look on everyone's faces tells me that this isn't the normal procedure. Demetri and I walk over to Alec and Jane, as Aro and Carlisle leave the throne room. Jane hugs me tightly and Felix and Heidi join us too.

Felix has a proud look on his face as he compliments my fighting skills. His sense of humor however is as terrible as ever. Heidi and I slap him at the same time, which has Felix bitching to Demetri about me having a bad influence on Heidi. I purr softly when Demetri threatens to take Felix's tongue out, even though I know he's just kidding. God, I love my mate so much. I sigh contently as he pulls me close and kisses my mark. He is my one true love.

I listen to the stories that Alec is telling and lean into Demetri. I scan the room and I can see the Cullens talking to each other. Edward is standing to the side and is staring at the doors, waiting for Aro and Carlisle to return and seal his fate. Everybody stops talking as the doors fling open, and moves back to their position across the room. Aro looks at Edward and says:

"Edward, you broke our most important law. You left a human that knew of our existence behind alive. You confessed to this crime and therefor, you will be punished. Please move forward."

I watch Edward move forward and notice that he's staring at me. Demetri steps in front of me to block his view and growls softly at Edward. I put my hand on Demetri's back and I can feel him relaxing under my touch. Aro continues:

"Edward, your actions almost killed the true mate of a Volturi guard, they alienated you from your family, but above all, they showed us how misguided you truly are. Killing you would be a waste of a marvelous gift and I will not sentence you to servicing the guard, even though your gift would be of great use to us. Isabella deserves true happiness and she will have that, here with us, far away from you, for eternity. You will leave her and Demetri alone. Any contact, between you and our Isabella, is forbidden, until the day that Isabella decides otherwise.

We are sentencing you to: living with the Irish coven for fifty years. We suggest you use that time to find yourself again. Carlisle assured me that he and his family will find it in their heart to forgive you for what you did, eventually. You will have a place with them when you return to the States after serving your time in Ireland.

Remember that we don't give second chances. If we find out that you broke the law again, we will kill you. Santiago will escort you to Gianna to get your flight information. You will be leaving for Dublin tonight. Don't try and run. Demetri will find you and with Isabella at his side, you won't hear them coming. You'll be dead before you even realize they are there. Do you understand that, Edward?"

Demetri moves a bit to the right and I assume that Edward is still trying to catch a glimpse of me. I think about what Aro just said and feel like Edward is getting a light sentence. I'm glad though that he has to stay clear of me and my Demi. Imagine having him here every day for the next fifty years… talking about hell, that would be it. I roll my eyes when Edward says:

"You're too kind, Aro. I accept my punishment but I don't deserve such a light punishment and I certainly do not deserve my family's forgiveness."

I smile when Aro interrupts him:

"A beautiful, intelligent woman told us today that it's not up to us to decide whether we deserve forgiveness or not, Edward. It's someone's to give if they feel that you deserve it. Go now, Gianna is waiting. I'm sure that we will meet again someday."

The next moment Demetri moves to my side again and I can see Santiago leaving the throne room, Edward is already gone.

Demetri - DPOV

The big wooden doors close behind Santiago and everyone waits expectantly for Aro to end this hearing.

"Carlisle, my dear friend, I'm so glad that we found a way to solve this non-violently, even though some of us would have preferred other methods."

Caius snorts and rolls his eyes at Aro. Marcus puts up his hands in a soothing manner and says:

"There are always many different solutions to one problem. Only time will tell us if this was the right way to solve this one. For now, let's assume it is."

"That's so very true, Marcus. I'm certain that everyone will see the benefits of this arrangement after a while. Now, Carlisle, I would have loved for you to stay with us for a while but I suppose that will not be the case. Am I right when I say that you're eager to get home?"

Aro looks at Carlisle, who nods in agreement.

"You know me so well, Aro. Yes, the family and I will be leaving for the US on the next available flight. As much as we would love to stay, we have a live to get back too."

"Ah yes, no rest for the good doctor and his loving family. I truly hope that you visit us more often in the future, Carlisle. Now that Isabella is living here, you finally have a very good reason to come to Volterra once in a while."

Carlisle opens his mouth to speak but is interrupted by Alice who squeals.

"Oh my god, we're coming over for a few weeks in the summer. It will be so much fun!"

Isabella chuckles when she hears me sigh, and whispers in my ear:

"What's wrong, Demi? Are the in-laws making your life miserable already?"

I pull her close and kiss her softly, before whispering:

"A bit, tesoro, I just want them to leave so that I can take you to our room. I need you."

Isabella purrs very softly into my ear and that sound alone is enough to turn me on. I clench my teeth when I hear Aro say.

"Isabella will escort you and your family to the square, Carlisle. That way you can say goodbye in a more private manner. Have a safe flight."

Carlisle bows his head to the kings in respect and then looks at Isabella questioningly. My Isa nods and guides the Cullens toward the door. I quickly signal Alec, Jane, Heidi and Felix to follow me and start following the Cullens out. Isabella notices and rolls her eyes at me. Emmett turns around the face us and says:

'What's wrong? We're not going to kidnap her, you know? She would kick our asses if we tried and I'm quite fond of my ass to be honest."

Isabella moves to my side and turns to Emmett:

"You can bet on it, brother bear. No one will take me away from my man and my new family, this is where I belong."

Emmett puts up his hands in surrender and says:

"Point taken, sis. I don't want to get on your bad side. I know you have the tendency to forgive people very quickly, but I'm not risking it. I just got you back and I would love for us to keep in touch."

"Off course, Emmett, I would love that too and just so you know: I'm perfectly capable of holding a grudge if needed."

Carlisle smiles and interrupts their banter:

"No, you're not, Isabella, like Emmett said; you forgive people very quickly, even if they don't deserve it."

I interrupt her answer with a kiss and she sticks out her tongue at me, when I say:

"Emmett and Carlisle are right; you're way too forgiving, amore mio."

"I'll keep that in mind for the next time that I'm mad at you. I'll have you begging for my forgiveness than."

I hear the guys snicker. Fuck, me and my big mouth…

"I meant that in a positive way, tesoro. Your loving nature and compassion are two of the things that make me love you so much. I wouldn't want it any other way. Ti amo."

I hear Emmett fake coughing 'whipped', which has Felix and Alec laughing out loud. Alice is looking at the three of them with a smile on her face. I see Isabella looking at Rosalie, Heidi and Jane, and nodding. The girls all slap the guys at the back of their head and we hear a collective 'ouch' from the three of them. I snicker and pull my Isa closer. I kiss her and say:

"I'm totally whipped, but that's another thing I wouldn't want any other way."

Now the girls let out an 'aww'. Rosalie and Heidi start pestering Emmett and Felix about why they aren't that romantic anymore. We reach the end of the hallway and stop at the entry doors to the castle. Isabella hugs her family goodbye; I shake hands with Carlisle, before finding myself flanked by Jasper and Emmett. I can see Isabella rolling her eyes, when they say:

"Take care of our little sister, Demetri. She deserves all the happiness in the world."

I smile at the both of them and nod.

"I will. She's the best thing that ever happened to me and I will do anything to make her happy."

They shake my hand and turn to join their mates. Isabella gives Esme and Carlisle a final hug and moves back to my side. I pull her close and kiss her hair. Carlisle looks at us and says:

"Isabella, my dearest daughter, you will always be a part of our family, never forget that. We will always be there for you and Demetri. You both may be a Volturi by name, but you are also a Cullen. Don't hesitate to call if you ever need anything. We love you, Isabella, forever."

"I love you too, all of you. Have a safe flight and I'll talk to you soon."

Isabella and I watch as the Cullens get into their cars and drive off. The others make their way back to their quarters, but Isabella pulls me back. I look at her questioningly and yell surprised as she gives me a slap against my head.

"Why did you do that, cara mia?"

Isabella - IPOV

As the big wooden doors close behind Santiago, I feel a sense of tranquility pass over me. I'm at peace with my past now. Edward is not forgiven by a long shot, but I know that he will not be a problem for me and Demetri anymore and that's what's most important to me.

I listen to the conversation between Aro and Carlisle. I hear Carlisle say that they will be leaving on the next available flight and smile when I notice that the knowledge of them leaving, doesn't affect me the way it did all those months ago. They will always be family, but my life is here in Volterra with my Demi.

I chuckle when Demetri sighs at Alice's announcement that they will be coming over for a visit in the summer.

"What's wrong, Demi? Are the in-laws making your life miserable already?"

He pulls me close and kisses me softly, before whispering:

"A bit, tesoro, I just want them to leave so that I can take you to our room. I need you."

A soft purr escapes my lips and I can see his eyes darkening with lust. I quickly turn around when I hear Aro say:

"Isabella will escort you and your family to the square, Carlisle. That way you can say goodbye in a more private manner. Have a safe flight."

I watch as Carlisle pays his respect to the kings by bowing his head and move over to guide them to the exit. I see that Demetri, Jane, Alec, Felix and Heidi are following us down the hall and roll my eyes. My talk with Alice is interrupted by a frustrated Emmett:

'What's wrong? We're not going to kidnap her, you know? She would kick our asses if we tried and I'm quite fond of my ass to be honest."

I move to stand next to Demetri and notice that Alice is momentarily lost in a vision. Alice regains focus quickly and has a huge smile on her face.

"You can bet on it, brother bear. No one will take me away from my man and my new family, this is where I belong."

I smile when Emmett puts up his hands and says:

"Point taken, sis. I don't want to get on your bad side. I know you have the tendency to forgive people very quickly, but I'm not risking it. I just got you back and I would love for us to keep in touch."

My answer gets lost as Demetri kisses me. I stick out my tongue at him, when he says:

"Emmett and Carlisle are right, you're way to forgiving, amore mio."

Too forgiving, we'll see about that, dear husband of mine.

"I'll keep that in mind for the next time that I'm mad at you. I'll have you begging for my forgiveness than."

I hear the Emmett, Felix and Alec snicker, while Demetri tries to make up for this last statement with some cute groveling. God, I love this man so much.

"I meant that in a positive way, tesoro. Your loving nature and compassion are two of the things that make me love you so much. I wouldn't want it any other way. Ti amo."

I roll my eyes when I hear Emmett fake coughing 'whipped' and Felix and Alec start laughing out loud. Alice is looking at the three of them with a smile on her face; she saw this in her vision. I look over to Rosalie, Heidi and Jane, and give them a quick nod. They instantly understand what I'm trying to say and all slap the guys at the back of their head. I giggle when we all hear a collective 'ouch' from the three of them. Demetri pulls me close and kisses me, before saying:

I purr softly in his ear and take his hand as we walk further down the hallway. I can hear Rosalie and Heidi pestering Emmett and Felix about why they aren't romantic anymore, and smile. We stop at the entry doors to the castle and I start to hug my family goodbye. I roll my eyes when I see that Jasper and Emmett are trying out the big-brother-act on Demetri.

"Take care of our little sister, Demetri. She deserves all the happiness in the world."

Demetri smiles at the both of them and he nods in agreement.

"I will. She's the best thing that ever happened to me and I will do anything to make her happy."

I give Esme and Carlisle a final hug and moves back to my Demi. He pulls me close and kisses my hair. Carlisle looks at us and says:

"Isabella, my dearest daughter, you will always be a part of our family, never forget that. We will always be there for you and Demetri. You both may be a Volturi by name, but you are also a Cullen. Don't hesitate to call if you ever need anything. We love you, Isabella, forever."

"I love you too, all of you. Have a safe flight and I'll talk to you soon."

We stand and watch as the Cullens get in their cars and drive away. The rest of the guard is already gone and I notice Demetri moving to follow them. I pull him back toward me and see him looking at me questioningly, right before I slap him against the head. He yelps and ask surprised:

"Why did you do that, cara mia?"
