Chapter 22: Somethings Worth Fighting For

"Ahhh…. that's some mission right there" Yuugao said flexing as she, Hana and the Haimaru triplets just arrived back home via portal. "thanks for the help back there" Hana said smiling at her. Yuugao smiled back "Hey it's no problem, it's my duty as fellow villager" the purple haired replied cheerily.

"Speaking of village, it's about time Minato-sama name our own village don't you think" Yuugao shrugged "I bet Kushina-sama had told him that multiple times already" Hana nodded. They walked towards the leader's building and proceeded inside, Yuugao opening the door without knocking. She raised an eyebrow at what she saw, she deliberately cough to get the couple's attention "Excuse me, Am I really gonna be seeing this every time I receive a new mission?" she ask sarcastically.

"well maybe if you knock you wouldn't" Hana replied for her as the two sweat dropped. Minato cough returning to his seat gaining the two ninja's attention "I'd like to hear your report now if you please" he said obliging the two woman to come inside.

The two woman entered before Yuugao started speaking "On the way to Nami we've encountered resistance sir, it seems the Nibi jinchuuriki is still hunting your family. She identified us as colleagues to yours and forced a fight injuring Hana and her companions but we manage to defeat him and continue to our mission. The wave daimyo seems accepting enough even going as far as to rush us into building our mission receiving place in the middle of the village. Here are the conditions sir" she said giving Minato the scroll.

Minato nodded "I will check this later, it seems your mission is overall success. You may take a break, I will let you know when you are needed" he commanded as the two women and three dogs went out of the room. "so it seems your idea of having our own mission receiving area to multiple non-ninja villages instead of tying us to one daimyo a success" he looked towards his wife who is smiling at him. He nodded "true enough, but I'm afraid this is only the beginning" he sighed as Kushina went towards his back massaging his husband's tired muscles.

"I know it's hard to lead a village…" she said as his husband tried to look at her, but Kushina forced him to look forward instead "…. but this village needs you, your the only one that can lead" he sighed. "when I think of it, this is Naruto's fault. He was the one that brought up the idea of a village he-"

"and look what that gave us, we manage to be peaceful away from the war. You running this village saved many lives, someday Naruto could be a great leader. But for now you're the one the village needs" Minato sighed before he nod in acceptance.

Jiraiya had been fighting wars for the most part of his life. For the most part of that most part, the war was between humans. But then the last few years had been fought with beings he himself is not even sure if they were made from humans. 'Sick missing nins having the same minds' he thought as he saw three zetsus dogpile another Iwa nin before stabbing it to death and after that too. He shook his head in the inhumane act 'I don't like how they act but they are the reason we are not losing this war.'

The Akatsuki Deidara flew beside him using his bird "trump cards have arrived old man" he grinned maliciously "time to end this war" the blond Akatsuki said as a wide transparent box appeared just some distance away from him before a light appeared inside the box turning everyone inside to dust, Iwa nins and even Zetsus, leaving behind a perfect square where the box touch the surface of the ground. Jiraiya widened his eyes at the brutality "Kekkei tota? But how?" he said looking at the grinning blonde. Deidara did not answered instead he flew higher and started bombing towards the enemies.

A man with upper bandaged fully on its upper torso, that was the only other clue of Jiraiya. " The second Tsuchikage? but how?" He summoned a giant battle toad and commanded it to block the exit path of the enemies. None of them will leave the battlefield alive toda if he has any say to it. He swatted an offending kunai out of the air and made a round house kick to quickly approaching shinobi. The toad sage turned around just in time to snap a kunoichi's neck, pervert or not, he is a ninja first. 'this is a….'

'.…massacre' Kakashi said as he was looking at the battlefield. For some reason the past third Rakage is fighting with them. The numbers and quality of the Kumo shinobi meant nothing to the monster that arrived on the battlefield to stomp on the ants. Never before had Kakashi seen such a battle, it's a one sided massacre where the enemies were forced to retreat from the high speed and unstoppable shinobis that was once their Raikages.

'if this goes on, not even the combined power of Kumo's finest will be enough….. this war will end in a week' he thought forcing the feelings of remorse knowing what always happens when such a one sided battle happens. Not one enemy survives, not ninja 'not civilians.'

Activating his signature jutsu, he went in to battle again, stabbing enemies one after the other only pausing to dodge. Getting deeper within the enemy lines, he sensed them trying to dog pile him. He went through hand seals 'Doton: Shinju zashu no jutsu' he went underground in time to dodge the deadly dog pile.

Hidan kept swinging his huge scythe not caring for the multiple stabs littering his body occasionally dodging weapons that aimed to decapitate him or take out a limb. The manic man did not even bother doing his ritual and just kept shouting his god's name. Kakuzu wasn't around as he himself is on a different side of the battlefield.

The Siver haired was having so much fun that he did not see what hit him as a strong blow hit his stomach making him tumble some distance away. Hidan grimaced in pain as he look up to see who punched him seeing the Yondaime Raikage in his lightning armour "You dare desecrate my father!" the huge leader angrily said seeing his own father annihilate the people he protected dying. The silver haired mercenary just popped his head smirking with devious confidence "That hurt you bastard."

'You need to come back quickly Yugito'

Seeing the destruction laid out in front of him forced him to focus. 'this isn't as bad as the yellow flash did but I can't allow this guy to continue' Darui said as he observed Kakuzu from a distance making massacre with his puppets "C, Samui, we have to stop this guy" he said. The guy named C looked at him "but what about the Third Raikage?" he asked with worry.

"We have to hope A-sama ends his battle quick and face him. He will need our support in taking his old man down so we have to do fast too. There's no other choice, we will get massacred if we force a retreat now" Darui said resolutely. Both his allies nodded as Darui charged the aged Akatsuki.

He swung his sword which the old man dodged with ease. Darui was forced to dodge as a masked puppet blew a huge fire towards him. Samui was not idle during this time as she finished her hand signs just in time to send a lightning bolt that destroyed the offending masked puppet. Kakuzu growled " You're gonna have to pay for that…."

On the shores of the land of FIre the battle between Konoha and Kiri is currently taking place as the green beast of Konoha is at his best fighting without too much obstacles except some water jutsus here and there. While the forces of Kiri are many and has better quality than the zetsu clones that primarily comprised of the leaf army, Guy is not the only one trying to win the war as Kisame and Itachi is on the same battlefield as him spread out trying to contain the enemy. While Kisame is without his Samehada.

He has enough raw power and still huge chakra that allowed him to contend with multiple enemies. He just had to be more careful not to get wounded, he now carries Kubikirihocho that he took from the grave of his fellow swordsman of the mist that was killed by the Red Habanero. Itachi himself barely moves at all trapping multiple enemies with his sharingan and only dodging projectiles and enemies that managed to get out of his genjutsu.

He was surprised to see globs of lava sent his way and was forced to jump away or melt "that's as far as you go" the red haired Mizukage is finally out on the battlefield. "Hn" Itachi said observing his partner taking on a smaller fellow swordsman 'Chojuro' if he remembered the bingo book correctly. 'gonna have to be careful.'

Reaching the barrens of Sand border had taken them years but the top A-ranks of Konoha, Sarutobi Asuma and Yuuhi Kurenai, had finally managed it. Of course with the help of Sasori of the red sands and his puppets that decimates armies at quick pace. But what really allowed them to do it is the man that arrived the battlefield few minutes ago.

His imposing stature with white skin filled with cracks, black hair and unnaturally black eyes with black sclera is enough for people to know him. And when he started using his signature jutsu, magnet release via iron sands, there was no doubt who he was. The third Kazekage had arrived on the battlefield, this time to kill his own people.

"You will never get away with this" the edo tensei Kazekage said calmly to the stoic Sasori in Hiruko puppet beside him. Sasoru chuckled evilly " I got away with using your original body as my puppet for years, this will be the same" he replied casually. "I will get off your hold Sasori. And once I do, I will personally kill you" Sasori did not grace the dead man with a reply, the dead will not kill him.

He focused his puppets as the battle only got harder within the Wind country. Sand is a weapon of the jinchuuriki of Hachibi, and those of the clan that uses the magnet release. Much like the Yondaime Kazekage currently battling with his signature weapon gold dust.

He sent his puppets towards the man ' you'll be a fine addition to my collection Kazekage' he thought evilly.

Pain was never idle himself, but it was not his time to enter the war yet. His power is best suited to completely destroy a village in one go. Having allies with him around will just weaken him. His mission for now is to capture another bijuu, the whole reason for the war, or so he thought. He does not agree with the masked man, Uchiha Madara's reasoning. But the man is a legend for a reason so he choose to listen to him for now 'until our agendas are aligned' he thought.

He heard a soft flute music in the distance as he saw bubbles floating in the air "I heard that the jinchuuriki of Rokubi likes to play flute. Is that information correct Konan?" he asked monotonously to the woman beside him. He originally left her to lead the Hidden Rain village but with unknown elements like the mysteries out there, he opted to take her with him. Village be damned, those mysteries are allies of with the missing jinchuurikis 'after this war, you all will be next for the sake of peace' he thought.

"Yes, the jinchuuriki uses his flute to generate his bubbles that allows him to use his ninjutsus gifted to him by his bijuu" came the equally monotone voice of Konan. He nodded in acceptance "Let's go get our next bijuu " he said before leaping towards the direction of the sound. Another jinchuuriki will fall.

"You know I don't understand why you kept following me since that day" Sasuke looke beside him to see her purple haired companion "why?" he asked as the said woman kept looking at the stars. Sasuke rolled his eyes "You wouldn't be if you know my life" it was woman's time to looke confused, feeling her confused eyes to him he decided to elaborate " My father and my brother had been the only family I have ever since I remember, but he isn't really a father to me" he said.

"and your brother?"

" there was the time when I thought he is the greatest shinobi, that was naive of me. He killed my whole clan and really wanted to kill him even at the expense of my life, that was until that blond idiot stopped me"

Sasuke nodded "but now that I think of it, I didn't even know why I feel so angry, maybe because they carry the Uchiha name like me. But if anyone have ever been a family to me, it would be my brother. That's why I don't understand why he did that" he ended the last part with confused sound and face. " why didn't you ask him?" Sasuke shook his head at her question "I'm smart enough to know that there's something deeper to it. But I don't know if I could handle something like that, if there is one thing I admit that is my brother is stronger than me…." he continued seeing Yuugao was about to rebuke him "…. at least in willpower."

Yuugao opted to nod keeping the silence, " you still didn't answer why you kept following me" he said. She sighed " you know what? I don't really know, I just felt…..pulled" she said hesitantly. Sasuke rolled his eyes not believing him "yeah keep telling that to yourself" she frowned at him for not believing her. Minato nodded " we can wait for it to end and hope that they won't find us, if they do. We have the advantage of fighting them with too small aerial power. Your hawks will put you on par with that mad bomber" Minato summarized not knowing of Pain's power.

" there's too many variables tousan, you saw that rinnegan when we barge in the Konoha council meeting. It's best not to underestimate it" they nodded as Yuugao put her own piece " and let's not forget the guy that appeared back in the war against Kumo"

" I completely forgot about that, I haven't heard again of him since that time. How do we even contend with something like that?" Minato look around as they all seemed lost in thought except for Sumire "Otsutsuki gods can travel dimensions so it's not unheard of, while I do not know why he chose to appear that time. I believe there's a way to fight him" she explained.

All eyes were focused at her at this prompting her to explain " the Senju and Uchiha clans are lines that descended from their line as well as Hyuuga and Kaguya if I remember my academy days in my old world correctly" she explained " and the bijuus are parts of accumulated powers of Kaguya Otsutsuki, the strongest of them that was sealed in the fourth great ninja war in that world. We can use those to fight" she tried.

"Will it be enough?" Kushina asked as Sumire shook her head unknowingly.

Minato sighed " Anyways, let's not depress ourselves with that. We have a war to discuss now " he got their attention " Konoha is pushing multiple fronts at once, if we decided to help that would give us windows of opportunity. At this rate the battle against Iwa will be the first one to reach the village of Iwa probably a week or less after that is Kumo. I could see Suna and Kiri holding out for now because of…. geographic advantage. We can save their civilians at least, but only if we enter the fray."

" I don't see why we should" Sasuke said as Naruto sighed " Sasuke, this is civilians we are talking. They don't have business in ninja war."

" of course they do, they do fund the war, they make weapons for ninjas, they provide food and clothing. There would be no war without them"

"And people die because it, they could have just go fishing or farming or something instead of helping prolong the war. They're not as innocent as you think Naruto!"

Minato slammed his table "you two are acting like a child right now, how can we reach a decision if you're like this" he said as he notice his son clenching his fist 'It's the first time I saw him this angry. He didn't even clench his fist like that when his brother died in his arms' he thought worryingly.

"I'm sorry tousan if I feel this way, Nagato died and I couldn't do anything, it damn! Hurts even now. So if I have say in it, I'll never let those people die, no matter how selfish they are. Somewhere out there are people that love them just as much as I love my brother and I won't let them experience this pain" Naruto said and he started walking towards the door, Sumire walking beside him supportively.

He refrained from walking out and said "Some things are just worth fighting for Sasuke" before continuing.
