I'm back from my hiatus, too bad our favorite cast isn't yet :( Sadly it seems there's just no end in sight right now. Anyway, here's a little bit of a longer chapter for your start to the holiday weekend. I hope you enjoy.

Jamie holds the door to their apartment open as he guides Eddie in. She is exhausted and sets her purse on the counter in the kitchen as she passes, heading straight for their bedroom. She doesn't have to tell Jamie how tired she is, he can tell and follows behind her.

Eddie digs in their dresser drawer for a pair of Jamie's old cotton sweatpants and one of his NYPD tee-shirts since they fit looser than her own. It's probably the most unflattering sleepwear she's gone to bed in, in the last two years, at least the nights she got to sleep next to Jamie, but she doesn't care tonight. Tonight, she just wants to be comfortable. She's not showing yet, it's still too early for that, but the bloatedness she's recently started experiencing has her searching for any comfort she can find, and flattery is the furthest thing from her mind right now.

Jamie finds her selection of sleepwear irresistible though as he watches her change and he can't take his eyes off of her as they begin to fill with desire.

"What…" Eddie says as she pulls the tee-shirt over her head and realizes Jamie is staring.

"Nothing," he responds as he clears the rest of the words stuck in his throat and attempts to push the thoughts of ravishing her from his mind. He can tell she's not interested in intimacy tonight by what she chose to go to bed in, but the sight of her in his sweatpants and oversized tee-shirt is having an unintentional effect on him that he is having a hard time shaking.

"Seriously, what?", she says again as she tosses the decorative pillows to the corner of the room and pulls the duvet back. She knows that look though and can't figure out exactly what about her current appearance has her husband reacting this way.

"It's just...you look really hot in my sweats," he grins flirtatiously as he pulls his shirt over his head and slips out of his jeans.

"Oh please…" Eddie jokes as she crawls beneath the covers and Jamie slides in next to her. He smiles as he leans in to kiss her sweetly. He doesn't linger too long, he knows she just wants to go to sleep, but seconds after he pulls away, he leans in for another kiss. He can't help it, everything about his wife is beautiful to him, even when she wears old baggy sweats.

Eddie welcomes the warmth of his lips and she melts into him as he drags his hand slowly up her side and they slip further down into the bed. She wants to want him as much as he wants her right now and she really is trying, but she is so exhausted and can't find the energy she needs to move things along. Jamie can sense that she's not entirely where he is at the moment and he slows down. He appreciates her for trying and he certainly won't push her. He presses a gentle kiss on her forehead and rolls on to his back, pulling her into his side.

"I love you," Jamie says as Eddie curls into him.

"I love you too," she sighs as she rests her head on his shoulder. She feels bad that she couldn't give him what he wanted tonight and really hopes that the fatigue part of this pregnancy passes soon, or that she is at least able to adjust to it, because sex with her husband is not something she ever wants to say no to.

Eddie is finally comfortable, curled into Jamie's side as his soft fingers stroke her arm slowly and silence fills the air. She should be able to fall asleep easily given how exhausted she is, but her mind is suddenly a deluge of thoughts about everything they talked about on the way home and all the things they still have to do. Their baby isn't even due for another seven months but it already feels like they are running out of time. She's trying to shut her mind off so she can sleep because that is all she really wants to do right now, but panic is approaching faster than she can control.

Jamie can tell she isn't asleep yet by the unsteady rhythm of her chest as it rises and falls against his side and his mind is wandering too, but not about the same thing.

"You know what we need to do now," Jamie whispers as he continues his massage from her shoulder down the length of her arm and back. With all their energy over the last week put into how they were going to tell his family, they hadn't even thought about how they were going to tell Lena.

Jamie's question only fuels the panic and anxiety Eddie's experiencing at the moment and she sits up abruptly, throwing the covers off herself.

"Yeah! A lot!" Eddie exclaims as she springs out of bed. Jamie watches in confusion as he sits up. "We have to buy a new car, and a new house...not to mention all the other things we still have to get before the baby gets here. Baby furniture, car seats, strollers, diapers, baby clothes…" Eddie rambles nervously as she begins pacing around their dark bedroom.

Jamie turns the bedside lamp on and as he realizes his wife is on the verge of an unnecessary panic attack and even though he sort of finds it adorable, he doesn't want her stressing over anything and knows he needs to calm her down.

"Eddie, relax," Jamie says calmly as he walks over to her side of the bed, trying desperately to hide the humor he finds in the situation and forces the grin off his face.

"There's no time to relax, Jamie...how are we supposed to get everything done before the baby is born," Eddie says. Her voice is brimming with distress but when Jamie takes her hands in his, and she sees the calmness in his eyes, she slows down.

"We have plenty of time, okay," Jamie says as he cups her cheeks in his palms and smiles sweetly at her. "It's gonna be okay," he adds assuringly as he presses a soft kiss against her lips.

"You promise," she begs as she pulls away and looks up into his eyes.

"I promise," he says as he pulls her into a hug.

Eddie's still wrapped in Jamie's arms. His embrace is soothing and exactly what she needs right now. After a few more seconds, she looks up at him again and smiles.

"I'm sorry I sort of freaked out," she chuckles softly. That was the first time she's really let herself think about everything outside of just having a baby and it was a little overwhelming, but thanks to Jamie, she's calm now and feels a little ridiculous.

"It's okay," he laughs softly with her. "But now can I tell you what I was going to say before you sort of freaked out," he giggles again. His arms are still around her and he begins to rub soft circles along her back.

"Yeah, sorry, go ahead," she says as he wraps her arms around his neck and he begins to sway their bodies from side to side.

"We still have to tell your mom."

"Oh crap. I can't believe I didn't think about that," she says. She feels guilty now that she put so much effort into the way they surprised Jamie's family and the thought didn't even cross her mind to call her own mother.

"We'll call her tomorrow," Jamie says as he places another soft kiss on her forehead and guides her back to the bed. "Let's go to sleep," he adds as he reaches down to straighten the mess of covers Eddie left when she bolted from the bed a few minutes earlier.

She crawls in but before Jamie can walk around to the other side, she's pulling him down with her. She's got a second wind now after the adrenaline rush of the near panic attack that almost happened, and she owes Jamie for his quick spring to action and ability to calm her down.

"I thought you were tired," he giggles as he hovers over her.

"I was…", she smiles seductively and pushes him onto his back as she slowly crawls on top of him and dives for his mouth. She raises up for a second when Jamie's hands glide up her back, taking the oversized tee-shirt with him and tugs it over her head. He tosses it to the floor and pulls her back down to him and their lips crash together again.

He's about to roll her back over when she stops him and begins a path of licks and kisses from his jaw, along the crease between his chiseled pecs and slowly trails down his stomach to his navel as she pushes his boxers out of her way. Jamie's intentions earlier weren't for tonight to be all about him, but he's certainly not about to stop his wife now. His head falls back against the pillow as he feels her mouth around him and he moans in pleasure with her movements.

Later, Jamie showed Eddie the same attention and late into the night they worshiped each other, slowly, lazily and tenderly and Eddie was more than thankful for the second wind and the energy for the time they were able together, and even more thankful they had nothing to rush around for the next morning, and maybe she could sleep through the morning sickness that still hasn't gone away yet.

Jamie let Eddie sleep until mid-morning Saturday before accidentally waking her up to the sound of the blender when he couldn't wait any longer for his breakfast smoothie. His eyes offered her an apology as she sauntered into the kitchen, wearing his sweatpants and tee-shirt again.

"Morning...sorry, I didn't mean to wake you," he says with a guilty smirk as she approaches him in the kitchen.

"It's okay. What time is it?"

"Ten-thirty," he smiles as he takes a drink of his kale and protein smoothie and laughs as Eddie crinkles her nose in disgust, just like she does every morning. "How do you feel? You hungry," he asks as he leans in for a quick good morning kiss.

"I feel okay, actually," she says, surprised that she isn't that nauseous and hopes it is the start of better mornings.

"Well, if you want to take a shower, I can have pancakes ready for you when you're done," he smiles.

"That sounds perfect," she smiles back as she turns towards the bathroom. "I'm gonna call my mom first...see if she wants to come over for dinner," she adds as she disappears into the other room.

Lena was thrilled to receive another invitation to dinner. This is what she had been hoping for. To be invited into her daughter and son-in-law's lives and when Eddie called her that morning, asking her to come over for dinner that evening, she cleared her schedule for the rest of the day, because nothing was as important to her as mending their semi-broken relationship. They took a step in the right direction on Mother's Day but she hadn't been invited over since then and was beginning to worry. She knew she could have invited herself over, but she also knew things needed to happen on Eddie's time and not because of her own persistence. She just had to be patient, she didn't want to push her daughter further away so when she got the phone call from Eddie this morning and thought she could sense some excitement in her voice, she immediately agreed to be there for dinner, everything else could wait.

Lena was due at their apartment soon and Eddie had changed outfits four different times already because nothing was comfortable. Realizing that it wasn't her clothes that were tight because she still hasn't gained any baby weight, despite the recent bloating, it was her bra because her boobs were certainly growing already, and she still hadn't gotten a bigger one, she finally decided on one of her favorite summer sundresses. She won't be able to wear it for much longer, and no matter what she wears today, until she has a bigger bra, she's going to be uncomfortable.

"Hey," Jamie says and his eyes are glued to her chest when she walks out of their bedroom. This is certainly a perk for him. He's always loved her breasts, and now they're bigger and even nicer, and he has a hard time not staring at them. "You look nice," he adds.

"I really need to get a new bra tomorrow, I can't stand this anymore. It's ridiculous," she says as she makes one last attempt at readjusting it for better comfort.

"I like them," Jamie says with a playful smirk.

"Yeah, well you can have them," she huffs as she gives up on the comfort and tries not to think about it anymore.

There's a knock at their door, but Jamie's still staring at his wife and she rolls her eyes and walks past him.

"Hi mom," Eddie says with a smile as he opens the door for Lena.

"Hi dear," Lena says as she steps in the apartment and pulls her daughter into a hug. Eddie half expected her mother to walk straight past her to Jamie first like she did last time and she's a little surprised to be wrapped in her mother's arms at the moment.

"You look nice...you look different," Lena says as she takes a step back and glances at Eddie, her eyes roaming quickly from head to toe. "Your boobs look bigger...why do your boobs look bigger," Lena asks suspiciously as she eyes her daughter's chest. Eddie is rolling her eyes at her mother now, and Jamie's standing in the dining room chuckling at the both of them.

"Oh my…" Lena gasps as her hand lands across her own chest dramatically and her mouth falls open momentarily. "Are you…"

"Yeah...I am." Eddie confirms as a grin grows wide across her face. She'll never get tired of telling people now, and she completely forgets about her mother's lack of filter for the moment as she's pulled into another hug from Lena.

"Well this is just wonderful news," Lena says as Eddie shuts the apartment door and her mother walks towards the kitchen to shower Jamie with the same affection. "I'm so happy for you two," she tells Jamie. "You must be so excited," she adds as Jamie accepts her hug.

"We are," he says as his smile now matches Eddie's.

Lena follows Eddie to the couch, yearning for more details as they sit down next to each other.

"So, how far along?" Lena asks.

"Nine weeks, Eddie says as she shows her mother the sonogram picture and points to the spec in the center, thinking everyone else needs a little direction on what exactly to look at like she and Jamie did when they first saw the pictures themselves. Lena takes the picture from Eddie and smiles at her unborn grandchild.

"I have to admit, I never thought this day would come," Lena says honestly, and she can tell by the look of confusion on her daughter's face, she needs to explain what she means.

"I just mean, I always figured your father and I did too much damage to you as a child, that you'd never want to have kids of your own," Lena admits sadly.

Jamie senses that Eddie and Lena can use some time alone by the direction he assumes this conversation is heading and decides that he will pour Lena a glass of wine, and instead of ordering delivery, he'll go pick something up so they can have some time to talk.

"Honestly, mom, I didn't think I ever wanted kids, until Jamie," Eddie says as she smiles at her husband, now approaching them with Lena's glass of wine.

"Listen, delivery is backed up so I'm gonna go pick up dinner. I'll be back in thirty minutes," he tells them both as he hands Lena her glass and places a quick kiss on Eddie's temple.

They watch Jamie leave and Eddie takes a deep breath as he closes the door behind him. She knows exactly what he is doing, and she is pretty sure she knows where this conversation with her mom is headed, she's just not sure she really wants to rehash all of the crappy parts of her childhood.

"You know Edit...I know I wasn't a good mother to you, and…"

"Oh mom, really, it's fine. It's all in the past right," Eddie interrupts. She desperately doesn't want to have this conversation right now, even though she knows they probably should get everything out in the open.

"But it's not all in the past. Everything that happened then is the reason our relationship is the way it is now. I should have done better, and I'm sorry dear." The guilt is heavy in her face and Lena knows her apology is long overdue and there really isn't anything she can say or do to change the past, she just hopes for a happier future with her daughter and her daughter's growing family.

'It wasn't all your fault mom. I lied to you...I covered for dad, and I'm really sorry about that. I can't imagine what it was like for you," Eddie says as her own guilt is weighing her down now.

"Well, your father manipulated both of us for a long time," Lena says through a sad smile. She should have been able to protect her daughter from Armin's lies and betrayal, but instead, she allowed her to be drug into the middle of it all, and she hates everything about it.

"Yeah, some things will never change," Eddie says as she thinks about her last conversation with her father. "Can I ask you a question, mom?" Eddie says. She can see the vulnerability all over Lena's face and she feels bad for keeping her at such distance for so long. "Why did you stay with him? I mean, I know the money laundering shocked everyone, but you couldn't have been oblivious to everything else," Eddie says cautiously.

"Well," Lena responds as she inhales a courageous breath. "I thought I was doing the right thing for you. Even though we weren't great parents, at least we were wealthy, and money can buy a lot of things. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to give you the life you deserved as a single mother," Lena admits to her daughter with wholesome honesty.

"I think the life that every child deserves is to have a happy and safe home, and love and affection, and support...whether it's from two parents or just one. Money can buy a lot of things, but not that," Eddie says as she smiles softly at her mother. All Eddie ever really wanted was all of those things. That's what she has with Jamie now and that's what they'll give their baby, and any other kids they may have in the future.

"You're going to be a terrific mother, Eddie," Lena says sincerely as she places the palm of her hand across Eddie's stomach. Eddie looks down at her mother's hand and she's a little uncomfortable because this is the most affection her mother has ever shown her. "This baby is blessed to have you and Jamie as parents," Lena adds with a smile.

"Thanks mom," Eddie says as she exhales slowly, and Lena pulls away.

"I love you, Edit," Lena says as her voice cracks. A tear begins to trickle down Eddie's cheek at her mother's words. She knew her mom loved her, but she can't remember a time where she ever actually heard Lena say the words out loud to her.

"I love you too, Mom." Eddie's genuine response causes Lena's eyes to fill with tears too, and they both realize they've just had a major breakthrough.

"Okay, let's talk about something different," Eddie says as they both swipe their cheeks dry and they chuckle together.

"Oh, how about you show me the baby's room. Have you thought about how you're going to decorate it yet?" Lena asks as the smile returns to her face.

"Actually, I think we're going to move to a bigger place before the baby is born," Eddie says

"Oh?"

"Yeah, we just talked about it last night, but we're thinking about buying a house outside the city."

"Really? Where?" Lena is shocked to hear that. She knew Eddie liked living in the city and never thought she'd give that up.

"We don't really know yet, we haven't thought about it much. We'll have to see what neighborhoods we can afford, Eddie tells her.

"I can help. Will you let me help," Lena asks. She knows Eddie won't but she feels like she owes her daughter so much and this would be an opportunity to make up for so much that she did wrong before.

"That's such a nice offer, Mom, but really, Jamie and I are good. Besides, I think I'm going to sell the Porsche and put the money towards a down-payment," Eddie says with a smirk. She knows her mom will get a kick out of that.

"I think that's a great idea. You can't really drive a baby around in a Porsche," Lena snickers. "Just promise me, if there is anything you do need, you'll let me help, please? It's the least I can do," Lena says.

"Just be our baby's grandma," Eddie says as she places her hand sweetly on her mother's shoulders. "The best gifts aren't always given with money," she adds with a playful grin.

"I can do that," Lena says with a smile and leans in to hug her daughter. "I can't wait to watch you as a mother," Lena adds.

"I can't wait to be one," Eddie replies.

A/N: Well, I hope you enjoyed this new chapter, and I hope I stayed in character. It's hard writing new territory, since we haven't actually seen a pregnant Eddie yet, nor have we seen much interaction between Eddie and Lena. Hopefully I'll have another chapter or two up before the end of the weekend, because I'm staying HOME, and I really want to move this story along for you all!
