That Monday Jocelyn returns to school with Tamaki. Feeling much better and truly happy something she hasn't felt in a long time
"Oh Tamaki I wanted to remind you about dinner this weekend with our families," Jocelyn tells him
"Yes my father told me about it, I won't miss it. Especially since my grandmother will be there" he says
"I can't wait to meet her and you'll officially meet my grandmother" Jocelyn smiles when she spots Tadashi "I see Tadashi I need to go speak with him" she bids him goodbye and walks over to Tadashi
"Tadashi" Jocelyn calls to him
"Well if it isn't the most beautiful princess in all of Japan" Tadashi smiles
"Aren't you sweet" Jocelyn giggles "Are you and your family free next weekend?"
"My parents are in the middle of a business trip and I'm not sure when they'll back," he says
"Oh that's too bad, my grandmother is only going to be in town for a short while and she was hoping to meet your family," Jocelyn says
"You know I will find out from my parents and let you know tonight," he says quickly
"I would greatly appreciate it" Jocelyn smiles
"So did you manage to get caught up?" Tadashi asks as the two of them walk to class
"Ugh, just barely Ali had me running around sawing him Japan," Jocelyn says
"How long does he plan on staying?" Tadashi asks
"For at least one semester, that I know," Jocelyn says
"So…. why does he call himself your fiance?" Tadashi asks
"The moment my grandmother found out my mom was pregnant she tried to make an arrangement for me to marry either Ali or his sister. Mom wouldn't have it, so she did the next best thing. Ali and I grew up together or we spent most of the time while I was in London together. Lately, he's gotten this idea that we're engaged" Jocelyn explains
"But you're not?" Tadashi asks
"No, I'm 100% single" Jocelyn answers
"Well not for long hopefully" Tadashi winks at her
Jocelyn laughs and before she can respond she sees Takashi and Mitsukuni walking into class "I'll see you at Lunch I need to talk to Takashi real quick" Jocelyn quickly rushes to over to the duo "Takashi"
He turns around and looks at Jocelyn. She wanted to ask him why he didn't give her the photo but looking at him she couldn't bring herself to ask "Good morning" Jocelyn gives him a small smile
"Morning," he says back
"Morning Jocelyn" Mitsukuni says happily
"Morning Mitsukuni" Jocelyn smiles at him
The bell rings signaling class is about to start and the trio take their seats
After school Jocelyn is in her room getting ready when Akira comes in
"Jocelyn," Akira calls to her
"Yea," Jocelyn says looking into the mirror adjusting her hair
"I just got a call from the Driver your grandmother will be arriving soon" Akira tells her
"Ok tell Ali to meet me at the foyer entrance," Jocelyn tells her
"Well do and if you don't need anything I'm going to retire for the rest of the day," Akira says
"You can take the rest of the week off too. Your classes start next week, excited?" Jocelyn asks smiling
"I am actually" Akira smiles back
"Enjoy this week off, I'll be busy with grandmother anyways" Jocelyn walks over
"Good luck with that" Akira says and both the girls laugh
Jocelyn and Alistair wait downstairs by the door for Jocelyn's grandmother
"How do I look?" Alistair asks Jocelyn
"Handsome as always Ali," Jocelyn says "You know grandmother loves you, you don't need to worry about impressing her"
"You've met your grandmother, correct?" Alistair raises his eyebrows and smiles making Jocelyn laugh
"You're right I don't know what I'm talking about"
The sound of a car door closing is heard
"Shhhheeee's heeeeerrrreeee" Jocelyn says creepily and they both burst out laughing but when the door opens and in comes, Jocelyn's grandmother the two of them stop laughing and straighten up
"Well aren't you two getting along well" Lady Daphne smirks
"Welcome Grandmother" Jocelyn curtsey
"Hello Lady Wallace" Alistair bows
"Will Hiro be joining us for dinner dear?" Lady Daphne asks
"Yes, father should be arriving home soon" Jocelyn answers
"Good we have much to discuss your coming-out party" she says
"My coming out party?" Jocelyn asks confused
"Didn't you just turn 18 dearie?" Lady Daphne asks
"Yes, last week but--"
"Then we have to throw a coming-out party to begin your transition into the royal family. I only came for that and then I'm flying back to home" Lady Daphne cuts her off
"But aren't I already in the Royal-"
"Can you have someone show me to my room, I need some rest before dinner. I do dislike those long flights" Lady Daphne cuts her off again
Jocelyn exhales deeply "Of course grandmother" Jocelyn waves her hand and a maid comes rushing over "Show my grandmother to her room and then bring her down when it's dinner time"
"Right away miss, please follow me, Lady Wallace," the maid says and shows Lady Daphne to her room
Jocelyn sighs and rubs her temple
"You ok?" Alistair
"I think I just need to lie down for a bit, I'll see you at dinner" Jocelyn says and heads towards her room
When she reaches upstairs she goes over to her nightstand and picks up a picture frame that has the photo of her and Takashi on her birthday and she smiles. She takes her phone out and sends a quick text to someone
My grandmother is in town for a shorter time than I originally thought but I would like for you and Mitsukuni to met her officially
Two minutes later she gets a text back
Does she like sweets? Takashi texts back and Jocelyn smiles
Before she can text back Jocelyn is interrupted by a knock on the door
"Come in," Jocelyn says and a maid comes in "Yes?"
"Sorry to bother you miss but Lady Daphne sent me with a message
Jocelyn sighs "What's the message?"
"She wants you to pick 5 suitors out of all the men you've met and she wants the list before dinner"
"WHAT!" Jocelyn yells startling the maid who flinches "I'm so…. I'm sorry could you um could you tell Akira to come here please?" the maid shakes her head yes "Thank you"
Once the maid leaves Jocelyn starts pacing her room back and forth talking to herself
"Grandmother has lost her mind if she thinks I can pick 5 men to possibly be my husband. I haven't even met all the bachelor's how in god's name am I supposed to pick my future husband. This is the man I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with…. Have a family with" Jocelyn stops pacing for a moment to take a deep breathe in and deep breathe out "Grandmother said I don't have to marry until I'm 21 so maybe I'll be able to get out of this and marry someone that I really do love" when she says that she looks over towards the picture of her and Takashi "Someone I actually love" she sighs
"Or you can just tell your grandmother you want to marry someone you love and not some complete stranger" Akira says
Jocelyn jumps at the sound of her voice not noticing when Akira arrived in her room. Jocelyn didn't say a word she just ran and hugged Akira tightly.
Akira smiled softly and hugged Jocelyn tightly as well.
Once they stopped hugging they sat on Jocelyn's bed and Jocelyn told her the ridiculous request her grandmother is asking of her this time
"Jocelyn I just don't understand why you don't say no to her. Yes, she'll be mad at you but you don't live with her anymore. You live in another country!"
"Mom" is all Jocelyn says and Akira looks at her confused "The reason I do everything my grandmother asks is that she's all I have left of mom and I don't want to do anything to disappoint her cause-"
"Cause you think if you disappoint your grandmother you'll be disappointing your mom" Akira finishes, Jocelyn doesn't say anything but Akira knows that's what she's thinking. Akira pulls her into a hug "Someday you're gonna learn that your grandmother and your mother were two completely different women"
"You make it sound so, easy" Jocelyn says
"So what are you gonna do?" Akira asks
"Give her my list, I just needed someone to vent to" Jocelyn says
"Oh, so you used me" Akira looks at her and they both laugh "So did you make your list?"
"I know who I'm choosing but I haven't written down the names yet," Jocelyn says
"Here" Akira gets up and walks over to Jocelyn's desk and takes out some cards "Give me the names, I'll write them down and I'll give them to your grandmother for you"
"Really? That would be great" Jocelyn says "Alistair Stuart, Tamaki Suoh, Tadashi Kurosawa, Satoshi Miyamura, and Haruki Ishikawa"
"Alright you relax and I'll hand this to your grandmother" Akira gets up
"Thanks" Jocelyn says and Akira walks out and over to Lady Daphne.
She knocks on the door
"Come in" Akira hears and she walks in
"Akira what can I do for you?" Lady Daphne asks
"I have the 5 suitors from Miss Jocelyn" Akira says and she hands her the cards
Lady Daphne begins to read the names "Alistair Stuart, Tamaki Suoh, Tadashi Kurosawa, Satoshi Miyamura, and Takashi Morinozuka. Only one British man but overall she chose well but who is this Takashi Morinozuka?"
"A choice from her father, last minute" Akira says
"That Hiro" Lady Daphne Scoffs "I'll have to vet him at the party than"
"Party?" Akira says nervously
"Make sure these 5 are at the party this Saturday. All the other details have been taken care of" Lady Daphne says "You're dismissed"
Akira curtseys and leave
"Oh bloody hell I did not think this though" Akira says
