Hi! Today's a pretty big chappppttterrr woooo, one that y'all have been waiting for, I'm sure. Anyways, review time:
Succulentsofa- we DO, and yeah! HoneySnow did a great job there.
JuniperTheWarrior- 'Tis cool, thanks for reading! I hope you're enjoying it!
SomeStormLeaf- MHM, and yeah, especially in these Clans. Thank you, and HMMMMM indeed.
Anyways, on with the chapter!
I've made up my mind. Firefall had never felt so nervous before. I have to tell her this Gathering. If she says no, well, that's her decision. If she says yes, well, we can be happy together. No one needs to know.
"Are you okay?" Shredstalk asked.
"Yeah, don't worry about me." Firefall tried to act nonchalant.
Shredstalk narrowed his eyes in disbelief. Great Starclan, we know each other too well! We can even see through each other's lies… I feel bad lying to him, but I'm still not sure what he would do. I'll tell him soon…
They padded into the clearing, and Firefall spotted Featherstride's pelt right away, and nearly ran over another cat when she ran over to her.
"Hi!" She exclaimed. "It's so great to see you! I've missed you a lot!"
"Yeah, me too!" Featherstride replied.
R-really?! That's great! I mean, not great that she missed me, but cool that she's thinking about me… what am I even saying anymore?
She cast a glance around, to make sure that no other cats were in earshot. Her gaze landed on Redshadow, who was staring at her and Featherstride in confusion. For a flash of a second, anger flitted across his gaze, but it was gone in a blink.
Huh. I must have imagined it…
"I have to tell you something." Firefall whispered.
"What?" Featherstride asked.
"I think it might be better if we go somewhere more private." Firefall suggested. Her heart was thumping nervously in her chest. Please say she likes me!
They padded by the pond where Firefall had caught Featherstride a fish, and Firefall turned to face her. "Look, Featherstride, I- her voice cracked slightly. "I have a crush on you. A big crush, actually." Featherstride stared at Firefall in surprise, shifting her paws nervously.
Oh no! I must have judged her feelings wrong…
"I… um… like you too." Featherstride murmured quietly.
WHAT?!
"Really?" Firefall whispered excitedly. Featherstride nodded.
So… what are we going to do now? We're in love… aren't we? We have to find somewhere to meet or something in between Gatherings! I can't bear having to wait a whole moon to see her again! What if she's not at the next Gathering? What if I'm not there?
"We have to find somewhere to meet in between Gatherings." Firefall gazed in Featherstride's beautiful blue eyes. "I can't bear not seeing you for another moon."
"Um, I think we should organize this later, you know, not JUMP to conclusions?" Featherstride suggested.
"We'll meet at the border tonight and discuss it." Firefall declared.
I can't wait!
"We better get back to the gathering." Featherstride mewed.
"Yeah, I want to see Froststar and Quailstar argue again." She padded back toward the clearing and sat beside Redshadow.
"Where were you?" He asked as she came over.
"I was fishing in the pond." She explained.
"I thought you usually hung out with that Gladeclan she-cat." He mocked.
Um…
"Oh yeah. We just decided to hang out with our other friends today." She shot back. There was an awkward silence.
"Can we just talk about something else?"
"Sure." Redshadow briefly paused.
"Do you ever think you're going to find a mate?" He asked.
Woah…
"Um, I don't think a mate would be the best decision." She mewed.
"Why?" He asked with a bit of an edge to his tone.
They watched the rest of the Gathering in silence, which was rather uneventful, excluding Quailstar arguing with Froststar more.
Well, that still kind of happens every time, though it's still entertaining to watch.
that ending is so sudden that it hurts me also wow Redshadow how forward you are that's quite unusual... tell me what you think! FEATHERFIRE IS OFFICIALLY CANON! Stay safe!
Have a good day (or night) and keep writing!
