A/N: Super sorry about the delay on this one!! I changed the whole chapter 4 times before I settled on following this story line. So without further interruptions, here's a nice new chapter. Hope you all enjoy!!
They arrived in Tacoma a little after midnight. Lexi didn't know when she had passed out but clearly her body was still suffering from exhaustion. Pulling up in the back of Lexi and Happy's home, she couldn't help but feel a little empty. She had been at the house alone before but never when she couldn't easily contact him and she always know when he would be home. As the women exited the car, the men came to the truck to start carrying bags inside.
"Bec, you're going to stay here with me and Lex atleast until Happy gets home and things cool down," Kozik explained.
"Oh no! I don't want to intrude! I can find a friend's couch to--"
"You're staying here. No fighting it," Lexi told her cutting her off.
"Are you sure?" Bec asked.
"Yes, and it's what Happy wants," Lexi finished walking to the door.
Once she made it to the back door she was shocked to realize it was unlocked. Happy never even left the windows unlocked. Looking back at Kozik she opened the door. Now seeing the light on in the kitchen and hearing the TV from the living room she slowly made her way down the hall. Turning the corner she saw a woman putting food away in the fridge.
"Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house?" She asked.
"Lexi, manners. This is Jessica. She's Lee's wife," Kozik explained setting Lexi's bag on the floor. "She knows the situation and Lee just wanted to make sure you had fresh groceries when you got home."
"Hi, Lexi. Please call me Jessie. It's nice to finally meet you. I've heard alot about the SAMCRO princess," Jessie said extending her hand to Lexi.
"Please don't call me that," Lexi replied shaking the woman's hand. Lexi turned to leave the kitchen and said, "Koz, I assume you'll be in your normal room downstairs, can you get Rebecca set up in the one across the hall from you. I'm going to bed."
"Sure thing Lex. I'll bring your bag up for ya."
"Don't worry about it. I got it," Lexi bent to grab her bag before remembering her manners. "Nice meeting you Jessie. Sleep well everyone."
Not waiting for a reply Lexi left the room. She took the stairs two at a time as she felt the panic attack coming on. There were so many new people in hers and Happy's private lives she was having a hard time adjusting. Making it to their bedroom she locked the door behind her and went to the attached bathroom. She was about to start the shower when she felt her phone ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey Lex."
"Jax, not to be a bitch it I really don't want to be yelled at right now ao if that's the only reason you called, I'm hanging up," She replied sitting on the bed.
"Guess it's a good thing I didn't call to tell then. I'm assuming by what I was told on your departure that you know where Hap's at?"
"You know what they say about assuming. But then again Happy made me look like an ass setting yp my departure. I didn't realize he was calling for the calvary of SAMTAC to get me home but it's not worth fighting about anyways. He always does what he wants."
"Are you good though? You guys made it back safe?"
"I'm good as I can be with Hap in jail. We're here made it bout 20 minutes ago. It's wierd though. There's all these new people in our house and I honestly don't like it."
"What do you mean?"
"SAMTAC doesn't come around the house. It's how Happy and I were able to keep everything on the down low so well. Koz was the only one who ever came around. Now Lee's wife brought me groceries that we didn't need, and multiple club members standing guard like they're afraid to leave me alone."
"It'll be okay. You grew up in the life, these are just new members you'll learn to love like you did with our transfers and prospects. As for Jessie, I'm sure she means well. She's not able to have kids so the club members pretty much became her children. Plus you've seen how some of these guys live. She probably thought they were bringing you to a house with expired milk, tv dinners and beer. One thing I learned from seeing you and Happy, he'd never do anything to risk your safety. He went against mom and Clay to get you home to Tacoma. Almost blew your cover when you got shot. He's looking out for your best interests. Even if he did fake your marriage."
"I get it," She told her brother. They hadn't talked this deeply in a long time but she was glad their relationship may be getting better. "How pissed was Ma when she found out the marriage was bogus?"
"Oh she's livid. That's part of why I called. She's trying to convince Clay to bring her up to bring you home. You may want to warn Kozik so they can get a game plan in place."
"Shit. That's not going to end well. I'll let him know, thanks. You guys get any news on Hap?"
"Not yet. Club lawyer's got a meeting set up tomorrow at 9 to present the evidence Lee brought to the judge. But that's all I really know. Clay isn't letting much slip on it."
"That's lovely," Lexi told him. "They don't tell me much and I'm not allowed to ask since Hap's not here."
"Do you honestly think they're dumb enough to go against Happy's wishes?"
"True. I think I'm the only one stupid enough to do that but then again he's got a soft spot for me and I can usually get my way."
"Why does that not fucking surprise me. You've always been able to get these big scary bikers wrapped around your finger."
"Hey I can't help it if I'm adorable. Did you hear Tiggy told Koz he will never let him come back since he took me today?"
"Tig was in a drinking fit when I showed up. Those two though, they've always had issues. Tig's just using Koz helping you as an excuse. He will get over it, he always does."
"I know. I just couldn't believe he'd go that far. It was never my intention."
"I get it Lex. No one is blaming you. I just needed to know you're okay for myself."
"I'll be fine. Better once Hap's home but I'm fine for now. Thank you for checking on me."
"I didn't think you'd answer the way Gem said you were avoiding her calls. Look I know we've had our issues, but you're still my sister and I do love you. Losing Thomas and my dad was rough, I don't want to lose you too. You're the only sane family I have left."
"That means alot Jackson. I'm going to get some sleep. Talk to you tomorrow okay?"
"Sounds good. Get some rest. Love ya Lexi."
"Love you too."
After hanging up the phone Lexi saw it was now after 1 a.m. She changed into pajamas, put Happy's hoodie back on and made her way downstairs again. She found everyone still sitting in the kitchen where she had left them.
"Hey guys. We may have an issue."
"Lexi? Thought you were going to bed. What's wrong?" Kozik asked.
"Jax just called--"
"What the fuck? Why'd you answer? Damn it Lexi! The whole point in bringing you home was to get you away from them not keep talking to them."
"Because he's my brother," she answered simply. "And he had news. Juice figured it out. They know the marriage is a sham. Ma is flipping out, demanding daddy brings her up here. Jax is going to try to delay them."
"Fuck!"
"Herman, calm down. It will be fine. Luckily for us, Happy has always kept a very private life. The only ones who know about Lexi are the ones in this house and the guys with Lee. You, Lexi and Bec will not leave the house. They'll know to follow you to her. I'll go to the clubhouse and play dumb to stall them until the guys get back," Jessie explained calmly. "Lexi hunny, you've had a very long ride, go try getting some sleep."
"Okay," she replied leaving the room.
Lexi had never seen anyone react so calmly to possible issues in the club. It was a major change of pace from what she was used to. When she made it back to their room, Lexi climbed into bed and clung to Happy's pillow for dear life. It wasn't the same as having his arms wrapped around her making her feel safe but it was all she had for the time being. She could tell tomorrow was going to be interesting and she needed to be sure she was rested enough to handle it.
