"Is it really you?" - Kopa
Chapter 30: Shocking Words
Two months past and Kopa was feeling happier than ever. Two months ago, he reunited with his brother, and ever since he reunited with him, he would meet him once a week to catch up with him. This was the first time he has ever been happy with his life. The only sad news during this time was Sarabi and Sarafina have both taken ill and both lionesses have passed away. As much as Simba and Nala missed their mothers, they knew they were always watching over them. On this day, Kopa saw Kiara run out of the cave, smiling at the Pride Lands. Kiara was now two months old and grew nicely. Kopa also saw Simba exit the cave.
"Wow," Kiara breathed. She then started to head down the rocky outcropping to the ground.
"Whoa!" Simba said, picking Kiara up by the scruff of her neck and placing her on the ground. "Where do you think you're going in such a hurry?" he asked with a soft smile, a paw on his daughter's back.
"Daddy!" Kiara complained. "Let go!" Kopa finally got up hearing his sister complain. Nala got up first and exited the cave.
"Now I just want you to be careful," Simba said. Kiara tried to catch a butterfly, but Simba stepped on her tail, preventing her from doing so.
"Kiara, are you listening?" Simba asked. "Accidents can happen. You can easily get hurt-" But Simba was cut off by his daughter.
"Get hurt get stepped on and get lost," Kiara said, a bit annoyed, looking up at her father.
"Now remember," Simba reminded. "You must stay at Pride Rock at all-" But Simba was cut off once again.
"At all times I know," Kiara said irritated. "And if you see a stranger don't talk to me. Come straight home. Ok ok, can I go now? Pleease?" Kiara put on a big smile.
"Hmmm," Simba said. "Very funny."
"Your father is right Kiara," Nala said, coming onto the scene and sitting beside Simba. "There is danger out there."
"Your parents are right Kiara," Kopa said, also coming onto the scene. Kopa has just turned 2 years old and his mane was now growing on his shoulders. Kiara stuck her brother a tongue while he did the same.
"Now stay away from the Outlands," Simba warned his daughter.
"Nothing there but a bunch o backstabbing murderers outsiders," Zazu said, suddenly appearing and having a disgusted look when facing the Outlands.
"Zazu's right," Simba said, looking at the Outlands. "You can't turn your back on them."
"Really?" Kiara wondered. "How come?"
"Hmm never mind," Simba said. "Just run along now."
"But dad I-" Kiara began, so badly wanting to know why she can't turn her back on the Outlanders.
"You'll understand someday," Simba said. "Go on."
"Daaad," Kiara said. Simba then put a paw on Kiara's back. After a few seconds, Kiara then bounded down the rocky outcropping and to the ground.
"And stay on the path I've marked for you," Simba called, hoping his daughter would get his words.
"Simba dude," Kopa said, looking at his step-father once Kiara was gone. "Why couldn't you just tell her now?"
"Tell Kiara what?" Simba asked although he knew full well what his step-son was referring to.
"I mean you could've told her why she couldn't turn her back on the outsiders," Kopa said.
"Kopa," Simba began. "She's only two months old."
"And?" Kopa said, raising an eyebrow. "Is there a problem with her not knowing now?"
"Yes there is Kopa," Simba said with a serious tone. "She's far to young to know."
"Simba she was curious to know why though," Kopa pointed out. "It's better that she knows now than later."
"Kopa..." Simba began. But before Simba could say more, Aisha and Kali bounded out of the cave. They were now a year and three months old.
"Just wanted to wish you a happy birthday Kopa," Aisha said, smiling at her brother.
"Yeah," Kali chimed in. "Afterall you're 2 years old now."
"Huh?" Kopa said with confusion. "My birthday?" Kopa was now looking at his mother and step-father who were smiling with him.
"Kopa, you forgot today was your birthday?" Nala asked.
"Well," Kopa began. "I don't really keep track of my birthday. So I basically did forget today is my birthday. Dear me." Kopa was being sarcastic when he said that last part.
"Happy birthday sweetheart," Nala said softly, embracing her son.
"Thanks, mom," Kopa said, embracing his mother back. After a few minutes, they pulled apart.
"So Kopa," Simba said after a minute. "Anything you doing today?"
"Yeah," Kopa said. "I'm heading to the Rock Lands."
"You've been doing that a lot lately Kopa," Kali said.
"Is there a problem with it?" Kopa asked irritated.
"No of course not," Kali said. "I was just asking you a question. Jeeze no need to get mad at me."
"Sorry," Kopa said, feeling guilty. "I didn't mean to be mean."
"It's alright," Kali said with a smile.
"Well I better get going now," Kopa said after a minute, starting to head out. "My brother is waiting for me at the Rock Land borders so I better get going now." With that, Kopa headed down Pride Rock, not seeming to realize his mother's expression had changed as he left.
"Well mom," Aisha began. "Can we go to our first hunting lesson today?"
"Yeah mom," Kali chimed in. "Please? Pretty please?"
"Well," Nala began, ready to turn her daughters down. But the looks on their faces was hard for her to say no to. "Ok girls. We'll start your hunting lessons today."
"Oh thank you mom," Kali squealed.
"Yeah thanks, mom," Aisha chimed in. Then she turned to her step-father and said, "See ya dad."
"Yeah," Kali said. "See ya."
"Have fun girls," Simba said, nuzzling both his step-daughters. With that, Nala along with Aisha and Kali headed out to start the hunting lesson. As they were leaving, Nala thought, "I'm going to have to talk to Kopa when he gets back. If he's talking about Chaka, then I want to know why he hasn't said anything to me. He has a lot of explaining to do when he gets back." With these thoughts, Nala along with her daughters headed out to the hunting area to start Aisha and Kali's hunting lesson.
Meanwhile, Kopa has just reached the Rock Land borders and saw his half-brother, Chaka standing there, smiling at him. "Happy birthday bro," Chaka said with a smile.
"Happy birthday to you too you big boy," Kopa teased. "Got anything special to do today?"
"Of course I do," Chaka replied, still smiling. "Why not hunt together? After all, I reached you how to hunt and I could really use your help on this one."
"Of course bro," Kopa said with a smile. "Anything for you. I'd love to hunt with you today."
"Thanks, fam," Chaka replied. "You have no idea how much you mean to me, bro."
"Awww thank you, bro," Kopa said with a smile. With that, the brothers went to the hunting area to hunt.
A few hours later, Chaka and Kopa had caught a fine-sized wildebeest. They shared their meal with each other and once they were done, it was close to sunset. "Well I am most certainly not going to get in trouble this time," Kopa said, getting up to his feet.
"You're headin' back now?" Chaka asked.
"Yep," Kopa said. "It's very close to sunset. Mom was pretty mad at me the last time I went back two months ago."
"Well we did end up heading back that late though Kopa," Chaka pointed out. "I mean we did spend the time together the whole day that day."
"That's true," Kopa said, remembering how that day had made him happy for the first time in his life. "It was the very first time it made me happy in life."
"Well I'm glad it did," Chaka said with a smile. "Cause it made me happy as well."
"Sorry bro but I better get going now," Kopa said. "I'm not going to get in trouble again by mom." With that, Kopa began to head back to the Pride Lands. But before he could go any further, Chaka called, "Wait! Kopa don't go yet!" Kopa turned to give his half-brother and littermate his full attention. "Are you busy tomorrow?" he asked.
"No," Kopa replied. "Why?"
"Meet me here before sunrise then," Chaka said. "I wanna talk to you about something."
"Sure," Kopa replied with a smile. "See ya."
"See ya, bro," Chaka replied with a smile. With that, Kopa gave his brother a nuzzle before heading back to the Pride Lands.
Twenty minutes later Kopa returned to the Pride Lands where he was now back at Pride Rock. When he entered the cave, he was met by Kibwe. "Hello Kopa," Kibwe said curtly.
"Hello to you too Kibwe," Kopa said flatly. "Now if you'll excuse me." With that, Kopa began to go to his sleeping spot. But before he could, Kibwe got in front of him, much to Kopa's annoyance.
"Dude can you honestly leave me alone?" Kopa said with annoyance. "I need to get some rest. I had a long day."
"Not until you tell me," Kibwe said curtly.
"Well that's none of your business Kibwe," Kopa said, glaring at the sandy brown lion.
"It sure is my business Kopa," Kibwe said, taking a step. "Unless if you were thinking about your precious brother that is. He is nothing but a scumbag who would become just like Scar."
"That's it I had it!" Kopa roared furiously. "I've had enough of your bullshit! I will not tolerate anyone talking about my brother like that! They are not.." But before Kopa could even finish his mid-sentence, he heard a voice say, "Kopa?" Kopa spun around to see his sisters with Kamaria and Nadia right behind them.
"Girls?" Kopa said, approaching them. "I thought you girls were with mom on your hunting lesson right now."
"We were," Aisha said. "But we heard word that Kiara was in the Outlands. So mom had to call off our hunting lesson. So me and Kali followed mom where she was going. When we got to the grassland, we saw Zira with another cub who a brown coat, a black fluff of mane on top of his head, and had green eyes in the grasslands."
"I thought that maybe Zira left the Outlands by now?" Kopa said, confused.
"She didn't," Kamaria said. "She even said that her cub's name was Kovu."
"Kovu?" Kopa said his eyes wide.
"Yep," Nadia said. "She named him after Scar."
"Why would she name him after Scar?" Kopa asked.
"Beats me," Kamaria shrugged. "I mean Kovu does mean Scar after all. So who knows what made Zira name him after Simba's despised enemy."
"Well, whatever the case is," Kopa began. "If she's named him after Scar then so be it. We have nothing to do about it. Afterall, Kovu is Zira's cub."
"Well that is true," Nadia said with a sigh.
"So tell me," Kopa said. "How did this "confrontation" between Simba and Zira go?"
"Well," Kali began before Kamaria could even say a word. "She said that these lands belong to Scar. Simba said that these lands never belonged to him. They rightfully belonged to him. And as the confrontation went on, Zira introduced her cub named Kovu. I was so confused about why she named her child which means Scar. As the confrontation went on, Zira said they were very little food and less water. Dad said that she chose to live in the Outlands and that he never banished her. Then suddenly Zira pushed Kovu close to Dad. Dad didn't even know what the hell to even do when Kovu was close enough to him. Dad just told Zira to keep her distance and to not go near Kiara again. If she did, then she would be sentenced to death without hesitation. That's when both Zira and dad parted ways."
"Where are mom and Simba now?" Kopa asked.
"They're talking with Kiara right now," Aisha informed her brother. "They're having a long talk with her for going to the Outlands."
"Well if that's the case," Kopa said. "Then I'm gonna..." But before could continue he heard a voice call, "Kopa?" Kopa spun around to see his mother standing there. "Can we talk? Alone?" she asked.
"Eh... sure," Kopa said, having an uneasy feeling. As he was leaving he turned to Kamaria and Nadia and said, "Knock some sense into your brother."
"We will," the twins said. With that, Kopa went outside the cave and followed his mother.
A few minutes later Nala and Kopa reached a secluded area in the Pride Lands. Kopa started having an uneasy feeling because his mother was now giving him a troubled expression. "Mom, what's with the troubled expression?" Kopa asked, not liking his mother's expression.
"Kopa," Nala said, somewhat nervous. "I'm going to ask you a question. And I want you to be honest with me when I ask you this question."
"O...k..." Kopa said, not liking where this was going. "W...What q..question is it?"
"Is Chaka alive?" Nala asked. Kopa's eyes went wide when he heard his mother say this. He then opened his mouth to respond.
A/N: Oh Kopa when will you learn *shakes head*
