Jason might not have finished elementary school, but he wasn't stupid. When he moonlighted as a number runner, he had to be quick with counting money. Sometimes the bookies would short change the numbers and blame the carrier for lining their pockets, especially if they were new to it. Depending on the boss, you might be beaten to an inch of your life or you might be forced to work off your debt. Not Jason though, kid had an intuition when things were about to go bad. It's why he only did it sometimes, the job had too many liabilities.
