The last voyage.
It was the next day and everyone was getting on board the bounty "Are you sure we should be doing this sensei?" Kai asked frowning.
"Yeah you said they might try to keep Maya there. Should she really be going?" Cole looked on worried.
"I just can't stand by and see innocents be hurt." Maya walks in with Zane who looked worried.
"Do not try to stop her, it will do you no good." Zane sighed but still looked somewhat amused.
"Maya technically is the protector of panther island. Going there with her will help us gain the peoples trust and help us rally them for the battle to come." Wu sighed.
"Do you think Misako will be there." Maya looked curios. She had missed Misako and wanted to see her again, even if she was in a way angry with how she abandoned Lloyd.
"She will definably be there. She has bean trying to find a cure for her husband for years in hopes that he and her son would never have to fight each other if the poison took over him completely." Wu frowned.
"That's why she left me?" Lloyd came over shocked.
"Yes. She wanted to keep you safe as best she could. But darklys was the only place she could think of at the time as she knew I was busy trying to keep Ninjago safe. Still, I should have taken you in myself." Wu patted his nephews shoulder.
"It's okay now uncle. I just….I really want to meat her." Lloyd looked down.
"You will. Now, let's see if Jay and Nya have made any progress." Wu waved them all out.
As Jay was working on the jets he yelled "Useless pile of junk." When he was sprayed with oil.
"Oh it's worse then I feared….." Nya gives a list of everything wrong with the ship.
She looked to the other and said "Sorry everyone she's not getting air born anytime soon." Nya informs.
"Even if we got to the island what can we do, the best our powers did was crack them or slow them down." Kai groaned.
"That is not true. Maya the sphere from the fangpire tom, please bring it." Wu asked. Maya nodded and went to get it.
Once back she asked "Does it say something Sensei?"
"Yes, you see as I looked over it shows that's the power to defeat the stone army not only lies within the green ninja but the panther ninja." Wu explains as they all sat in the bounty.
"You mean like when we destroyed the mega weapon at the ball." Maya looked shocked.
"Does this mean that the way to defeat Garmadon is not solely on to me as well?" Zane looked on shocked.
"That is exactly what it says. We must get to panther island, reach palace, and place this sphere there. There we will find what we need to defeat the stone army." Wu informs.
"Then we need to get going." Maya looks on determined.
"But we can't fly." Jay frowns.
"But we can sail. The bounties still a ship." Nya smiles.
"That's perfect. When do we leave." Kai smiles.
"That may be a problem. On a small bout it is easy to go with the currents to find the island, on a large bout, well there is only one way to get to the island." Wu looked at Maya's necklace.
They all looked on at her an she sighed.
"I'll try my best." May sighs.
"We know you will." Zane smiles "Meanwhile will send the falcon ahead just in case."
Once the falcon is let loose Maya sighs and concentrates on the necklace 'Show me the way to panther island, danger is coming and I have to be there.'
The necklace seemed to sense this and soon bight light appeared and a map showed up on the table. They all looked shocked at this and Wu said "Quickly someone write it down."
Cole, being the best as quick sketch. Grabbed a pencil and pen and got to work. After a while it disappeared Cole saying "I got it." smiling.
"Now what?" Maya sighs after feeling that burst.
"Now we must say our goodbeys." Wu nods.
At that they all look at each other and head on out to tell everyone the news. Cole said goodbye to his father who got his group to sing goodbye to him. Jay said goodbye to his parents, Cliff Gordon seemed to be some ways away looking on proudly.
Nya and Kai where talking to the Mayor who promised to keep everyone safe and orgonized till they returned.
Maya and Zane where with her family telling their own goodbye.
"Come back soon." Lea crushed them in a hug.
"We'll try." Maya cried a bit.
"We shall keep each other safe. That we promise." Zane smiled.
"Remember you have a wedding coming up." Vic smiles.
"And we still have to pick out your dress sis." Maya's sister smirks.
Maya flushes and everyone smiles.
ON the ship Lloyd looked on sadly, no one was there to tell him Goodbey but Wu held him close and said "You may not get to say goodbye, but you will get to say hello." Wu smiles.
At that Lloyd smiled and nodded, excited to finally see his mother. Everyone finally got on and where heading off, the only interruption was Edna yelling to ask Jay if he packed enough underwear. Everyone had to laugh at that.
'But we live on here, of course he has enough.' Maya thought confused on that.
As they waved off Zane went off to the head of the ship and felt a strange sensation as he looked out into the vast sea. 'I sense I will be meeting a familiar face. But who?' Zane thought as his senses would not leave him alone on this.
Later as they all came to look over on the sea they all tried to figure out what Panther island would be like.
But as they did Maya said "It's an island full of jungle and stone buildings. Panthers roaming the land."
They all looked at her "You have seen it before?" Wu looked on wide eyed.
"In my dreams. Every time I got close to learning something new on the green ninja that's where I went." Maya had a far off look.
Zane was shocked "I have seen this land before as well. I dreamed of it once."
"Another sign of your bond." Wu smiles.
The two smiled at each other and Maya played with her ring then the falcon flew over. "It seems he's found something."
Zane put his arm out and what he saw was confusing "A lighthouse?"
Before they could think more on this a storm came their way. It was chaos after that. Everyone ran about trying to keep the sails from flying off but the winds where too strong. Not only that but strange starfish where eating away at the bout, they had to use their powers to scare them off.
In the end it took them all night to protect the ship but they had a few holes to repair and water to get rid off. As they used buckets to get rid of it and Kai's fair to dry it up.
"This is hopeless, without of rotter we've bean drifting aimlessly." Kai groaned.
"Once this is fixed we should be bale to repair it." Maya tries to calm him.
Suddenly Zane sensed something, dropping his bucket. "What is it Zane." Wu asked.
"Zane?" Maya looked worried as he walked off in a daze. 'He senses something.'
The fallowed him as he said "I sense something."
"Is it the falcon? Is he alright?" Jay asked.
The bird had flown off to do more recon before the storm hit. But they haven't heard back from it yet.
"No it's something….." Zane then saw the lighthouse "Something else, brace yourselves!"
They all grabbed onto something as they crashed. They then went down and Maya said "The lighthouse." Then they saw the falcon flying over.
"Seems your falcon wanted us to come here." Maya looked curios.
"It would appear so, but why?" Zane looked confused.
"Who would build a lighthouse way out here?" Lloyd asked.
That's when Zane realized it "It's not a lighthouse. It's a prison."
"Prison. Should we be going near it then?" Maya looked worried.
"I do not sense that the prisoner is a danger. More like an unwilling victim." Zane looked on sorrowfully.
The other looked on the same. 'What a horrible fate.' Maya frowned on their way up.
On their way up they heard some sort of strange sound. "Mysterious, we better keep going."
As they did thought Maya could smell 'Octopus.' Some kind of creature was out there. 'Let's just hope it's friendly.'
As they reached the door there was a camera and Jay joked "Should we smile."
Zane just looked back at it, as if expecting something. Maya looked at him worried 'Zane what are you sensing.' Usually they could read each other pretty well and Maya was not the best at reading people, but Zane, for some reason it was so easy to read each other. Accept when he was in this mode.
Suddenly the door opened and an excited elderly man came out shouting "Zane! Is it really you. You found me." Then hugged him tight.
Zane was in shock and everyone confused. "Do you by chance know Zane." Wu came up to help steady his adopted son.
"Of course I know him. I built him." The man fixed his glasses.
"You're his father." Maya gasped.
Wu looked on as if uncertain how to react.
"But my memory tells me that you have passed." Zane said in shock.
"Ah you found your memories." The man said smiling.
Then they heard the roar again. 'Okay not friendly.' Maya thought.
"Hurry it can't know that you're here or else there'll be dues to pay." Julian dragged Zane in.
"It?" Jay said worried.
"I'll explain inside, including why it is you thought I was dead." The man said in a hush.
With that they all hurried in. Once in the elder man locked, barricaded, and used a camera to look around to see I the supposed creature was near. Once it seemed we where safe he calmed and decided to show them upstairs.
"Please, please, have a seat. You must be thirsty." The man offers, which on the way up told them he was Dr. Julien.
"Seat where?" Zane looked on confused but still smiling.
'He's so happy.' Maya smiled at this but was also confused.
He flips a switch and suddenly the big light bulb is replaced with a table and seats "There of course."
"Waugh, handy." Maya looks on amazed.
"That's pretty smart." Added Nya.
They took their seats as Kai added "A technical wizard."
"With how he made Zane it makes sense." Maya snuggles up to Zane who flushes.
"Wait Zane are you two….?" Julien looks surprised.
"We are engaged." Zane brings up Maya's hand to show the ring.
"Congratulations. I'll have to hears the story." Julien smiles happily.
"But first we would like to hear yours." Wu asked confused.
"Yeah how are you alive?" Lloyd looks confused.
"Of course I should explain." As they all sat Julien began his tale how Samukai revived him and kidnapped him, forcing him to make invitations for him or he never see Zane again. And how he was guarded by a kraken.
"So that's what I smelled outside. Those monsters." Maya glared at what the robots skeletons did.
"They will be no more trouble for you father. We have defeated him and Sakumai was destroyed." Zane smiles.
"That is amazing. How did this all happen?" Julien looked excited.
They all smiled and began to tell their tales, Julien wrapped up in it all. When he heard Zane was the green ninja he had such a look of pride on his face "I knew you where special since the day you awoke, but this. I could never imagine." Julien grabbed his sons hand.
Zane smiles, happy for his fathers approval. The continued their story and when eh heard Wu adopted Zane.
"Thank you. Thank you for caring for me son." Julien looked at with glossed eyes.
"It was the least I could do. But since you are back in his life I suppose you would like me to step back." Wu frowned sadly.
Zane looked shocked btu Julien said "Of course not, I may be alive but I'm still quite old. If Zane has someone to watch him when I am gone and even when I am still here, then all the better. Nothing wrong with having two fathers." He smiled.
"Thank you." Wu said happily as he bowed.
Zane got up and hugged them both, thanking them for getting along.
"Oh I almost forgot the tee sorry." Julien then gets a little robot to bring them cups and tea.
"Aw he's so cute." Maya smiles as she pats his head.
"Oh I like her Zane. Weren't the wedding." Julien asks.
Maya flushes, glad she was approved off. Zane flushed as well and said "We are still working that out. But hopefully soon." Zane smiles.
The other chuckles at this.
"Father I have to ask, why did you not try to contact me?" Zane frowned sadly.
"With all the horrible things I built and with how much time passed, I started to think if you ever wanted to see me again. I was afraid after finding all this out, you would think I was a monster." Julien looked down sadly.
"Dr. Julien you were forced into this, and your son was threatened, you are not a monster." Maya patted his shoulder.
"She is right, I could never think that." Zane patted Julien's other shoulder.
"Thank you so much." He looked up with glossy eyes.
"But I have one more question, in my memories you said you did not want me to live my life mourning you. That is why you wanted me not to remember. But father, I felt worse not knowing. Not knowing who I was, what my purpose was." Zane frowned sadly.
"I am sorry Zane. I just wanted you to live your own life, to start fresh. And not be held back by your past." Julien looked down sadly.
"Our pasts can give us great strength to understand our future." Maya smiles.
Julien chuckled "I really like this girl. So what know?" Julien asks.
"We need to get to panther island." Wu informs.
"Could you repair the rocket boosters on our ship?" Jay asks. Pointing to it out the window.
Julien comes over to look "That sailing ship has rocket boosters!" he said excited.
"The rotors and gears are shot…" Nya starts.
"Ah pish posh. No matter. I'll have your ship air worthy by dawn." Julien smiles.
Then the island shook with the roar. "It's an earthquake!" Kai called.
"No, it's much worse." Julien gasped.
Maya caught the scent 'Octopus.'
At that they where told to hide, it was hard with the limited space but it was doable. Once the creature left.
"If we're going to make something to get out of her, we're going to have to worry. Before it comes back." Kai tells everyone.
With that they got to work. Everyone taking their place and doing what they could to get the ship flaying again.
Later at night Maya and Zane where cleaning up after the meal he mad. Dr. Julien hiccupped and said "Excuse me. I say I have never had such a meal in all my life."
"And that's just with scraps." Maya chuckles.
"Where did you learn to cook? I never programed that into you." Julien sighed.
"I guess I just picked it up." Zane answered.
"He's always been very adaptable. Though I have to say his cooking did help win me over." Maya chuckles.
"I hope that is not the only reason." Zane chuckles.
"You know it was more then that Icy." She kisses his cheek.
Julien chuckles "I am so glad you found someone to be close to Zane. And Maya, thank you for accepting Zane as he is."
"How could I not, he's a wonderful man. I'm just glad when we found out we found that he was human so we could be together." Maya snuggled Zane.
"I imagined if he did fall in love it be hard as a droid so I tried what I could. And…." Julien then noticed the necklace.
"Zane is that a piece of the orb I used to….?" Julien looked shocked.
"Yes, Maya found it in the lab and that is how I remembered. I gave it to her as a way to show how important she is to me." Zane held her close.
"It's not hard to fall for someone who shows you just how important they are to you." Maya snuggled up to him.
"I am so glad I got to live to see this." Julien came up to them but then….
They heard the roar, the creature was back, it was time to leave. They went running.
"Everyone aboard it's coming!" Julien called.
At that the kraken rose, they rushed onto the ship and started to blast into the air. They were almost home free when the kraken grabbed them. They all stumbled at fell at this.
The guys got up and tried to use their elements to force it back. But it only grabbed at them again. Then Maya noticed Zane's look as he said "It's chained?"
"Zane?" Maya Looked worried.
"It's the only way?" Zane frowned. She kissed him and let him stand on the rails.
"Zane what are you doing?" Julien called.
"The kraken won't let us leave. I think I know a way I can help." Zane called back.
"He'll be fine." Maya assure. But Julien still looked worried as he ran down and Zane jumped.
"Don't' worry he's good at holding his breath." Maya smiles.
"I just got him back, I can't bear the thought of losing him." Julien said worried.
"I can't either." Maya frowns.
"How will he release it?" Julien looked scared.
Maya caught the scent of something familiar "The star teeth." She realized. 'Zane you crazy genius.' She smirked.
The ship rocked and the fell on the floor but then "It let us go." Kai was surprised.
"What happened?" Julien looked surprised.
"Zane released the Kraken. And now it's letting us go." Maya replied as she helped him up.
"But where is my son?" Julien looked worried.
"Zane!" Maya called as she ran to him, not caring he was wet as the hugged.
Then as then let go "I'm here father."
At that Julien came to hug his son.
Wu then asked "How did you know if you freed it from captivity it would let us go?"
"Because no one deserves to be held captive. Not even a monster." Zane replied.
"Maybe it was never a monster. Maybe it was just a lonely creature." Maya looks out at the water as do the others as the kraken swims off.
"Farwell creature from the see. Enjoy your freedom." Zane says his goodbye.
"And live it to the fullest." Maya smiles.
And at that they were finally on their way to panther island.
