Eda and Lilith landed near the castle and slowly snuck inside. They think they're good until an army of vampires surrounded them. Eda placed a stake in her cross bow and aimed it at the vampires. Lilith took out her stakes and get them ready for a fight. Eda fired her stake at a vampire while Lilith staked them. It was going well until Alaric came out from hiding. He grabbed the sisters by their hair and slammed their heads together. They fall down, unconscious from the impact of their skulls colliding.

"Bring them to the dungeon. I want to be there when they wake up."

Unknown to him, Owlbert and Lilith's palisman flew off to the Owl House. Luz sat against the coffin. She didn't know what to do anymore; she was an undead creature, she had to kill and drink animal's blood, she would watch everyone she cares about die while she would live forever, her mother was murdered, she's expected to help a vampire king over throw witches. Everything was crashing down on her and she had no one to help.

"I wish you were here, mami. I really need help right now."

Luz looked at the envelop she was given. She didn't have the heart to open it before, but she needed her mother and this is the closest thing she could get. She grabbed it and pulled out the papers.

'Mija

I don't know when you'll be reading this. You could be a full grown woman with a child of your own, you could only be a little older than you are when I wrote this, or could be centuries by the time you have the heart to read this. That's right, I know about what happened, I know you're a vampire. What I do know is I will have passed on when you do. I'm writing this during the summer you were supposed to be at camp.

To my surprise, a couple days ago, a woman came to me claiming to have been watching you for the summer. Against my better judgement I listened to her. She said her name was Edalyn Clawthorne, and her little companion named King, and she told me all about the Boiling Isles and all the adventure's you've been on. She also told me about you being bitten and turned. I had a hard time believing that but when she performed magic, I couldn't help but believe. I know I haven't always been supportive of your interest in fantasy and I'm truly sorry. I'm so proud of you for making friends, I'm so proud of you for being who you are, I'm proud of you being my daughter.

I know it will be hard for you when I'm gone, but I also know you're strong enough to make it without me. Whether you're a human, witch, or vampire I will always love you. In the case that I pass on when you are young, I have arranged for Eda to be your guardian. I will miss you and I know you'll miss me, but even when I'm gone, continue to be who you are. Continue to be that happy, energetic, ball of life that I'm proud to call my daughter. I have one last parting gift for you, the other paper's in the envelop will explain more.

Luz's hands shook as she read the letter. She put the letter down and looked at the other papers. They confused her for a minute until she realized what they were.

"Adoption papers?"

She continued to read the papers until she got to the last one. She started to tear up again when she realized what's happening.

"She allowed Eda to adopt me... in case something happened to her." She said with a small smile forming on her face.

She heard hooting and walked over to the door. She opened it and was surprised by what she saw.

"Owlbert? What are you doing here and is that Lilith's palisman?"

Owlbert let out sad hoots and Luz seems to understand. She grabs her cloak and leaves the house.

"He's already taken one mother from me, he's not going to take another."
