I don't own Yoshi, the Turtles, or Saki.

Rin climbed up onto one of the pipes and began to slide along it. She heard metal groan behind her. Gordy was trying to be as silent as she, but the rusting ladder she'd just descended complained beneath his weight. She continued to slide along the metal pipes moving more slowly than she knew Gordy would walk. Then she saw a light coming from behind her. He had a flashlight.

Despite his smooth, controlled gait, Rin heard the squish of Gordy's shoes stepping in the muck coating the bottom of these tunnels. They were always wet with all the condensation and perhaps leaks of the water and steam pipes lining its ceiling, and dust almost always made its way in somehow. However, the soft ground meant he could also see her footprints.

She saw the light change directions. It shone up and then toward her hiding place at least until she slid around the corner of the tunnel intersection along the pipes that moved that way as well. She had barely room to fit and slide herself between them and tunnel's ceiling. She had to keep going using his uncertainty as to which direction she had gone to slow him down until she got to the place she headed to now or close to it, where she could move more freely and he would be in her trap …

. . .

Yoshi wondered to himself if he should be happy Rin was dead or at least injured. After all, she could have been setting him up for Saki all along playing with him until she, or Saki, or whoever his once brother sent, pounced. One of his main fears was one day he'd return from seeking what his sons and he needed to survive only to find them missing. Then he would either have to find a way back to Japan, or go to wherever Saki told him to in a left- behind message to get his sons back or die trying. Such would be a very bad day.

On the other hand, ever since dragging him back to the lair, Rin had shown little sign of wanting to kill him or the turtles. She claimed to have even warned him of, and now be avoiding him and his sons to protect them from, at least one other seekers sent by Saki … Of course, this meant he had to leave the lair to find food again, and the turtles were not happy to go back to eating algae and worms particularly not right after sporadic "Kadai" pizza visits. Now those might end too. Who would have found her being Kadai after …

Yoshi froze. What if Saki had sent someone to find and capture Rin? What if they were torturing her now to learn …

Yoshi dove down another pipe running on all fours at top speed. He must find his sons. He must make sure they were still there!

. . .

Rin made her way to the room of junk. She'd memorized its outline carefully for just a time as this. It used to be an airshaft for a construction project abandoned part way through. So, they did the bare minimum to cover it up so no one would fall in and threw into whatever they didn't want to carry back out.

She rolled and dropped from her place among the pipes and jogged into the room and across it in a zigzag pattern as she brushed objects she'd memorized the placement of. Thankfully, since no one else came down here, but she, now no one else had moved them.

She slid her feet along the floor just in case. She was glad she had when she felt something new, or old, against a toe. She reached down and explored its surface with her gloved hand. The fabric was thin and black meant to keep in fingerprints and hide flesh from sight not protect skin from outside surfaces.

The object was hard, flat in some places while jagged in others. She heard and felt something break away under her examination. And crumbly.

She looked up above her. Masonry breaking apart and falling? So, this area must be less stable than she thought. Now she almost regretted leading Gordy down here. However, she had to hide. He might have heard her mysterious object break in the overall silence.

She walked a little ways away to a large piece of equipment. No longer attempted to hide her presence, she jumped up on it. There was a hollow, echoey sound of disturbed machinery covering. Then she jumped up onto a support beam that had held the air shaft in place once upon a time.

She ran to her second rather than first choice of waiting spot for her pursuer and wannabe killer. The place she settled upon was at a more awkward angle to observe and throw from. She also thought it a more stable place to wait for her weight such as it was.

He came in with the flashlight and let it sweep over her tracks and the piece of equipment she'd jumped up on. Then his beam of light swept up over the rafters. Slowly, but surely and smoothly Rin closed her eyes and raised her arm. She felt the warmth of the light and saw pink as it shone through her eyelids. She threw. The light became darkness, and Gordy gave a soft exclamation.

She threw herself upward and ran along another support beam as gunshots sounded in the chamber. Her eyes flew back open despite their uselessness. Gunshots! He was using a gun down here? The idiot!

She dropped down on top of him wrapping her legs around his throat and bringing him to the ground with her downward momentum. At first, he tried to muscle her legs off his throat. With the element of surprise on her side, though, she'd managed to get a very tight hold right before he wedged a finger between her leg muscle and his windpipe.

He pressed the hot muzzle of his gun against the black cloth covering her leg. Rin swallowed a scream. She squeezed harder with all her willpower rather than let go. He threw the gun away and began to yank on her leg again. She gave a nasty smile. Fool …

He had too much ego now determined to win with his muscle rather than go for the surer way with less strength, digging into the burn he'd already given her. Or maybe he was losing his head. They stayed that way, strength against strength and will against will for minutes. Rin counted down how long it would take him to lose consciousness.

She nearly sighed in relief as she felt his struggles weaken. Then, one of his arms left off trying to pull her leg away and reached down. Even before his arm whipped up again, she was moving, but he still scored a slice. It hit nothing vital, but she was bleeding. He was up again bloody blade in hand.

She gave one glance before dashing through the maze of construction trash. Moments later, bullets began to fly again. She dodged behind objects. She paused and threw shuriken back and finally kunai back at him. One entered the muzzle of his gun. It backfired on him.

He cursed and threw the pistol away. She sank low again and watched him through some wire. Then she heard rumbling.

Not waiting to see when it would stop, or what would happen before, she ran back toward the doorway. He had also crouched low. She leapt right onto his back and jumped off him through the door. After she was in the sewers again, she realized her mistake.

The rumbling stopped. The old air shaft held. Gordy ran through the doorway after her. She turned and fled down the sewers again. His longer legs ate up the distance between them.

What do you think?

God Bless
