I don't own any characters in the Percy Jackson universe which is rightfully owned by Rick Riodan. However, the Greek gods and/or other mythological figures are used in my imagination and well you can't claim copyright on history.
Chapter 27
Annabeth stares at Kronos. He indeed looked like Luke, just with golden eyes.
"Is that who you see? Well, indeed I do look like Luke Castellan. He gave me his body."
"Annabeth snap out of it," I tell her.
"Luke, what happened to you?"
"You are wearing down my patience, Annabeth."
She was in a daze. She just kept staring, hoping and wishing that it still was Luke, somewhere in that body. Kronos looks at her and sneers. He raises his hand and pressure starts building on his palm.
"Annabeth, please you need to move." Grover tries to convince her.
The pall of energy starts to grow until it's visible. He chucks it towards Annabeth. I rush forward and intercept it. A piercing pain spreads throughout my body as if a hot knife had entered my system. I scream out in pain and Annabeth finally snaps out of her trance and rushes over to my side.
"Percy, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" She asks while pushing a square of ambrosia into my mouth.
"Yeah, what about you?"
"I'm fine now."
Kronos just laughs at the sight he sees.
"Perseus Jackson. I made you a great offer and you flat out turned me down. I will give you one last chance, kneel and denounce the gods. If you do so I will not only bring Zoë down. I will also save your friends cowering in fear behind you. You love her, don't you? And your friends, whom you value so much? All it takes is a kneel."
"Gee, I would really love to kneel you see. But while I was rolling around in pain it seems I banged it. For some embarrassing reason, it didn't heal."
Kronos's face twitches at my lack of seriousness.
"That was kinda funny." Says a telkhine.
"Shut up, idiot." Snaps the other.
"I wanted to be merciful, after all, I have just come back to the world after nearly 5 millennia. Yet, you decide to make a mockery of me. Well, Perseus Jackson, you said you would kill me you even swore to the river Styx. Here I am." He mocks.
I take my sword and lift it, going into a fighting stance. Kronos holds out his hand and the scythe flies into his hand.
"Luke used to call this blade backbiter. Well, indeed it will bite back."
He swings at me using the extra reach that his 6-foot scythe provided. I block with my sword in nick of time but the pure force and weight nearly knocked me over like a bowling pin.
"The great Perseus Jackson can't even stay upright during a fight." He laughs.
I growl and swung at him. He was slow to dodge, but a strike that would've made any creature cry just clanged off his skin as if he was made of pure steel. The blade goes skittering out of my hand.
"Well, it seems the body is still fighting me. It doesn't matter, you can't even hurt me."
He points at me and suddenly I was moving so slow that I made sloths look like the Flash.
"Percy, we need to go! He's dipped in the Styx!" Nico shouts.
I guess they thought that I was paralyzed with shock. Kronos raises his scythe, getting ready to swing it and slice me in two.
"NO!" Screams Rachel.
Suddenly a blue projectile flies towards Kronos. It hits him in the eye and he stops, clutching his face in surprise and pain.
"Ow." He says.
That voice wasn't Kronos. It was Luke. But just as quickly Kronos regains control and roars. I ran down the stairs and signaled the others to leave.
"The great hero Percy Jackson, runs like a dog with his tails between his legs." He mocked me.
He focuses on another ball of energy and throws it.
"NO!" Nico screams and claps.
Suddenly a large spire of black rock blocks the ball. An explosion can be heard as it connects with the rock yet the rock holds. We all ran into the Labyrinth.
"We need to split ways. Let's find an exit first." I told the others.
We eventually walk out into the busy streets of Los Angeles.
"Alright, you guys stay here for a second. I'll take Rachel home and come back for you guys."
They all nod and I take Rachel into the shadows. We reappear at the same Starbucks we had met at.
"Well, this is my stop it seems. See you again?"
"Sure, Miss Hit the titan lord of time with a blue hairbrush."
"Oh, stop it. That was nothing." She replies with a blush.
"Well, your little stunt saved my life. See you round Rachel. If you ever need to see me, I live a couple of blocks from you."
She nods as I teleport back into the shadows. My friends were standing around not wanting to the crowd. They notice me and grab onto me. We teleport into camp to see campers getting ready for battle. They had set up traps and other various nasty toys along the entrance of the Labyrinth.
"What happened? And welcome back Nico." Says Chiron.
We tell him as much as we can in detail. He grimaces when he heard that Luke had given his body to Kronos. He tells us to rest before the fight.
"Annabeth are you alright?" I asked slowly.
"I think so. For a second Luke had fought back."
"I know."
She takes a deep breath and hugs me. I was taken by surprise but slowly wrapped my arms around her.
"Thanks for saving me earlier."
"It's all good. Just don't do that again, it really hurt. Besides, you would have done the same for me." I reply.
"True. Now go rest. We're both going to need it."
I nod and make my way to my cabin. The lack of sleep finally catches up to me as I drift off into sleep. I wake up to a knocking.
"Yeah, coming," I said to the person knocking. "Oh, Annabeth. Did something happen?"
"You were asleep for a couple of hours. We should go check it out."
We both left towards the woods. The campers were still there. They seemed to be having shifts as well.
"He better explain what happened with Pan right now."
"Lord Leneus. He's-" Grover starts.
"Leneus, we don't have time for this right now. My camp is about to be invaded and it won't matter what happened to Pan if we all die." Chiron says sternly.
Right on cue the earth trembles. The sleeping campers wake up quickly, picking up their weapons to respond to the approaching monsters.
"Campers, lock shields," Clarrise shouts.
The front row campers shuffle next to each other, creating a wall of shields and spears poking out the front. A horn was blown from inside the boulders and hell broke loose.
End of chapter 27. Sorry, this chapter was a bit shorter. Thanks for reading though!
