"Welcome, to the Black Comet."
Tails looked around the dreary place. There was some kind of dark aura everywhere in the rocky walls of the Comet. What even was that? Her eyes drifted to Sonic who seemed to have stopped in his tracks. There was a slight black aura starting to emanate from him as well, but as Tails watched in horror, the dark aura just began to increase as her friend's glassy stare was looking forward.
"It all comes down to this, Sonic," The voice emanated as the eye creature from before floated over to Sonic, slowly starting to circle him.
"Get away from him!" Tails aggressively called out, but to no avail.
"Inside that machine, is the final Chaos Emerald. All you have to do is destroy it and you'll finally be able to go home, and accept your destiny."
Tails made a move to get out of the mech only for the Commander to put a stop to it. Hitting the lock switch, he had access to in order to prevent her from opening the hatch.
"Let me go!" Tails said, "Sonic needs me!"
"No," The Commander said, "See the readings? There's an unnatural substance out there. You open that hatch and we're as brain dead as that hedgehog."
Tails looked out as Sonic was continued to be engulfed with a black aura. How was she supposed to save him from, this darkness? Sonic only looked at the mech with that dark stare, before suddenly charging forward at such blinding speed. The Commander barely had time to intercept with shielded arms to keep Sonic from reach the core frame.
Sonic tried to keep his momentum going as he practically boosted with the dark aura into Diablon but it was powered by the Chaos Emerald so it managed to hold its ground.
"Let's see how you like this?" The Commander said hitting a button as a laser blast came from the arms striking Sonic causing enough damage to cause him to yell in pain. The Commander used this to snatch the hedgehog and toss him away. Tails looked on in worry about what had just happened. Was Sonic ok? Seemed so as he began to stand up, looking quite furious as he charged in again using his speed but the GUN commander was quick on his feet as he manipulated a series of laser barrages at the former hero. Sonic managing to dodge them all as he got in close enough. Spinning into a ball as he struck forward, smashing into the shield again. The Commander grunted.
"Going to take more than that!" He said before batting Sonic away but he only charged up and soon was after the battle mech again, Diablon batted him back but Sonic just started bouncing around on the walls coming in at various angles in his ball form. His quills being revved up into slicing speeds.
"Come on Sonic, please," Tails said, "You have to stop this. Remember who you are!"
Tails was still pleading to get through to Sonic. She just had to get him to stop. Who knew what that parasitic dark aura was doing to him but he was strong? He had to be.
"Yes Sonic, remember who you are," Black Doom said, "For you ARE Sonic the Hedgehog. The fastest thing alive. You don't care about who or what stands in your way from your goals."
"No, Sonic, don't listen to him!" Tails tried to reason as suddenly Sonic slid underneath Diablon before smashing into it. The Shields taking a major hit from that.
"Why you little," the GUN Commander said swinging a charged fist around causing Sonic to jump up and run up its arm towards the head-spinning into a ball... Only to take laser blast in the face from the head itself. Sonic toppled off only to be grabbed by Diablon and flung into the air before he shot another laser during his fall that landed a direct hit.
"Sonic..." Tails said as he landed in a heap, "Please Sonic... come back to us... come back to me..."
Tails' worry was written all over her face. She didn't want to see him hurting this badly but it was clear that things weren't looking in that great of condition.
"Get up Sonic," Doom's eye said as it floated over towards Sonic, "You're not going to let some machine get the better of you? How many of those things have you taken out? Countless? Show them your true abilities."
Sonic began to rise again, as The GUN commander grunted again.
"What's it going to take to keep you down?" The Commander said firing another laser towards Sonic. Tails watched as Sonic dodged the blast just in time before coming back towards them again. The aura around him was getting darker and darker.
"Please Sonic," Tails pleaded as the battle went on, as Diablon launched another series of laser fire at the Blue hedgehog, "You're not well... just let us help you."
"You don't need anyone's help," Black Doom's voice continued, "All they do is get in your way."
"No, we don't!" Tails yelled, hoping she was getting through to him, "We're your friends and we're trying to save you."
Sonic smashed into Diablon again doing another blow to the shields. Diablon grabbed at him again but Sonic dodged to the ground before bouncing back up and smashing him again with a spin attack. This was met with a powered punch from Diablon's fist as Sonic went flying again, he landed and went back on the offensive as The Commander continued to launch a barrage of laser fire.
"Friends?" Black Doom said, "Friends do nothing but stab you in the back. Rouge left you when Robotnik stole the emeralds from you the first time. The Flight brothers were no real help in stopping Robotnik again. The GUN has claim to be sending you home but all they do is send a mech after you. And Tails? Well, she's at the forefront, here to take you down just like the rest. You're alone Sonic, and that's how you like it. Now go, take what you want! Fulfill your destiny!"
"He's lying, Sonic don't..." But what was coming next was met with a grunt as Sonic just then hit them again before finally hitting just the right spot causing the mech to fall onto it's back.
"I am Sonic the Hedgehog," Sonic said towering over them, "And I WILL get what I want!"
Sonic jumped up and spun into a ball smashing into the mech again somehow going past the shields and straight to the power core.
"Without the Emerald were done for!" The GUN commander said as Sonic reached in a hand and yanked out the Purple Chaos emerald.
"Now, leave me be," Sonic said before holding out the Emerald, "Chaos BLAST!"
Tails only had time to gasp as the chaos energy erupted outwards sinking into the mech destroying it more than what it was. The cockpit seemed to take most of the damage but it still went through hitting the GUN Commander and Tails. Both yelling out in pain.
When it was over, the mech now lying in ruins Sonic began to head back over to his discarded backpack where the remaining 6 emeralds were. Back inside the destroyed mech. Tails struggled to get out. Sonic, needed her help. She had no idea but, she had to get out of the wreckage. She had to save Sonic! She had glanced at the Commander as he was out cold. So, she managed to slide out, slowly pushing the broken pieces out of her way. Eventually she was out as she looked over, seeing Sonic's retreating figure.
"Sonic wait!" Tails said trying to stand up. But Sonic didn't listen, didn't even turn around, "Sonic please, I know there's still good inside of you. You're strong, I know it! Just fight it, Sonic!"
Tails was on her feet as she took a few shakily steps forward. But Sonic continued to walk away.
"Please Sonic," Tails pleaded to try to get through to him, "You were hurt, I know... But you can't let what happened to you be what defines you Sonic. You're stronger than that. You've proven that to me time and time again. You're continued to stand up for what is right, even if it costed you. That's why you're a Hero Sonic."
Sonic suddenly stopped. He didn't turn around and but just stopped. Was she getting through to him?
"I'm not a hero," Sonic said his tone dark.
"But you are Sonic," Tails said taking another few steps closer, each step more difficult than the last, "Deep down you know it's true. It's why you make so many sacrifices, why you came back again and again to stop Robotnik. You may not want to accept it, but you really have a..."
Tails suddenly stopped in her tracks. Completely frozen. What she hadn't realized that as she continued to walk, the darkness around her was slowly engulfing around her, infecting her only much worse than with Sonic as she was now petrified in an intense darkness that engulfed her, her eyes losing all focus in them as it gave into that fear.
Sonic had turned around seeing what had become of Tails. The look on her face, almost jarred something in him. A small, ever so spark. But Sonic put that out as he looked down at the Chaos Emerald in his hand. His resolve tightened more as he returned to his path soon arriving at the bag.
"Finally," Sonic said as he held out both hands. The Chaos Emerald lifted out of his bag and began to float around him. The purple one lifting out of his hand to join the rest, "I have all the 7 Chaos Emeralds."
He looked at the 7 powerful gems before he slowly turned to Doom's eye.
"Now Doom," Sonic said, "All I have to do, is use Chaos Control, right? The 7 emeralds combined should be able to send me through to another planet. All I need from you, is a location."
There was some light clapping as Sonic turned around to see the actual Black Doom. His appearance was consumed by the dark shadowy aura of the place as he smirked.
"Well done Sonic," He said, "You have done quite well in figuring it out. But with the 7 Chaos Emeralds here, I no longer have use for you."
Sonic's eyes just narrowed at him, "I don't think you've been paying attention," Sonic said, "But I don't ASK nicely. So, give me the location of Mobius before I start smashing holes in your ride."
Black Doom only chuckled.
"As I said," Black Doom said before suddenly, Sonic felt an intense wave of pain, panic, and fear sweep over him causing him to collapse to the floor, "I no longer have use for you."
Sonic swore before Black Doom went over and taking control of the Chaos Emeralds. The last thing Sonic seeing before succumbing to the dark aura now fully infecting him, was Black Doom, using Chaos Control to bring the Comet through the Earth's atmosphere.
