Everyday Life With a Kobold

Soft music floated through the air, gentle melodies slowly awakening the two occupants that laid upon their bed as the time on the phones screen read 07:00.

One being a man in his mid-thirties, light brown hair grown in, along with a well-maintained stubble. His skin was tanned and held multiple scars and tattoos upon his body.

The second was a young Kobold with charcoal grey fur, yet had a splash of white upon her abdomen and end of her tail. She having her arms wrapped tightly around the man, who returned the affectionate hold.

Glancing around momentarily, they eventually met one another's eyes before widening their smiles to their partner's sight. Waiting a few moments, both giggled before the man moved forward and delivered a gentle kiss to the young Kobold's nose; a second giggle coming from her lips. She then returning it with a peck of her own.

"Good morning, Nathan." She greeted, gentle rubbing her cheek against his.

"Good morning, Olivia." Nathan returned, as he reveled in the feeling of her fur against him while his hand moved along her body. Tracing from her shoulder down to her thigh and back. His other hand reached for his phone and shut off the alarm before wrapping it back around his lover, giving her a tight squeeze. She releasing a light groan from the strength of his hold. Nathan than gave a quick tickle to her side, causing Olivia to suddenly squirm and let out a cry of laughter. Her lover broadening his smile at the action before giving a kiss to her head.

"Your always so teasing in the mornings." Olivia cooed while lightly swatting at his hand.

"Can't help that your reaction are always so adorable." Nathan defended before giving a final peck to her cheek. After a moment, he looked to her grey eyes and allowed silence to pass before moving to get up. But Olivia held onto him, releasing a whine.

"No, just a few more minutes." Glancing to her, he chuckled before gently petting her head.

"Come on, you. We have to get ready." He responded, rubbing his thumb upon her forehead. This earning him a small pout before giving a nod of agreement. Olivia slowly siting up while Nathan turned his back to her to sit for a few moments.

However, in a moment, Olivia wrapped her arms around the man, hugging him from behind. She resting her head upon his back while her hands gently rubbed Nathan's chest.

He let out a sigh, both in light frustration and pleasure. He knowing she knew how much he enjoyed it when she did such a thing; the sensation of her hugging him in such a way bringing a strange calm over him to the point that he didn't have the urge to do anything but just lie down with her and continue feeling such an embrace.

"I love you, Nathan." Olivia whispered, before placing her chin upon his shoulder and delivering a kiss to his cheek.

Meeting her smiling gaze, he returned both expression and words, tone filled with warmth,

"I love you, Olivia." His lips meeting hers as his hand caressed her cheek, thumb rubbing against it. Both remaining like this for many moments before releasing each other's lips and gazing deep into their lover's eyes one last time.

"Okay, now we can start getting ready." Olivia proclaimed, giving Nathan's head a final kiss before hopping off the bed and moving towards the bedroom's door. All the while, the man watched with a chuckle before following suit.

Moving throughout the home, both went about their morning routine. Brushing their teeth, showering, getting dressed and making breakfast before finally moving onto packing their lunches, or just Olivia's that is. Finally, the two moved to the front door.

Nathan wearing his standard outfit of an athletic shirt, it being a short-sleeved collared with Kobold Rose Fitness Center logo cargo pants, hiking boots and now brown jacket, while carrying a small duffle bag. While she wore the same shirt, but beneath a blue hoodie, track pants and tennis shoes. Both holding a helmet in their hands before making their way outside, the day bright and sunny.

Getting onto the bike, it being the same Nathan had been gifted, both placed their helmets on and waited for the now automatic gate to open before taking off down the road towards the fitness center that had become quite successful in the past four years.

After parking his bike, the two dismounted and headed inside; both starting their day of work at the fitness center. Once Nathan was done with his shift around two P.M., he changes over into his usual gym attire, a t-shirt, shorts, and depending on what he worked on, two different pairs of shoes. Once done, he showered and changed back over before meeting with Olivia in private to give her a kiss and hug goodbye before leaving.

Once at home, he takes a minute to decompress before logging onto his computer and for the next three hours, he loses himself within the world that is his mind and the stories he creates. All the while listening to the strange mixture of either piano, smooth electronic or relaxing 80s synth. All three giving the man a sense of peace as he lets his mind work and hands flow, bringing words onto his screen and his stories to life.

It is when seven P.M. hits that he breaks himself away for the day and heads back to the fitness Center to pick up Olivia, she having finished her time there for the day, helping those she trains, going over the Fitness Center's finances or whatever else she is tasked with; along with her own workout of the day.

Arriving home, the two either make dinner for themselves or go out to somewhere nice if it's the weekend, like this very day. They getting ready by freshening up and getting dressed for the remainder of the evening. And upon arriving back home from their time away, more personal acts begin between the two. Gentle kisses to the lips and necks slowly leading to clothes being shed and naked bodies moving to the bed.

This was the usual day that both young Olivia & Nathan had become accustomed to, and neither would trade anything for it…

It was like so the two had lived for the past five years. Nathan, now with neatly trimmed beard and hair having grown in, decently long strands slicked back behind his ears, stood before the stove, moving the frying pan back and forth, four eggs cooked inside. The white bubbling ever so slightly, while the yolk wobbled. Behind him, young Olivia sets out the plates and silverware, before moving onto the lunches for the day. It was when Nathen had placed the eggs, followed by the bacon and toast and filled their glasses with their preferred drink, that a knock came from the door.

Tilting his head to the door, Nathan stole a glance to Olivia before walking to it, answering it to see that of Smith; she dressed in her usual attire.

"Good morning, Nathan."

"Smith," Nathan nodded, before looking to a man behind the G-Woman. He standing at an even 5'10" with grown in blonde hair, fair complexion and blue eyes. Nathan nodded to the stranger, who returned it. "Here for a visit, I see." Nathan said, before standing aside, allowing both in.

"Yes and no. I am actually training our new recruit, Anderson. Wanted to knock out two birds with one stone and use you as an example." She motioned to the man, who gave a second to nod Nathan, holding a hand out to him.

"Morning, Mr. Koniec. I've been told quite a bit about you." Anderson greeted, a local accent within his voice. Nathan, hesitant for a second, took hold and gave a firm shake.

"Good morning." He looked to Smith. "And I see, well, please make it quick as she and do have to finish eating and head out." The G-Woman returned his look and smiled.

"Of course," Before looking to Olivia, who held a wide smile. "Good morning, Olivia. How are you doing?"

"Well, Ms. Smith. Hope you are doing the same."

"More or less." Looking to Anderson, she motioned for him to follow before disappearing into the home, both Nathan & Olivia watching them wander around the house before resuming their breakfast.

It was when a good 15 minutes had passed, that Smith and her trainee sat down with the two and began asking them standards questions. Following 10 more minutes, the two government workers stood, said their goodbyes and left.

As the two shook both Nathan and Olivia's hands, Anderson looked to the former and said,

"I look forward to working with you in the future." A smile upon his lips.

"Like wise." Nathan responded, a smile, but more fitting to call it a smirk, upon his own features. With that, the two left. But all the while, Nathan watched Anderson with a wary eye. Something about the man bothered the other. He couldn't place his finger on it. But a nagging sense flooded his being.

"Nathan," Olivia called, breaking the man from his trance. "Come on, we gotta eat." Looking to his lover, the sense disappeared in an instance.

"Right." Glancing back on final time, making sure the coast was clear, he delivered a kiss before sitting with the young Kobold.

After finishing their meal, they quickly cleaned up and began grabbing any final things.

Nathan, having finished first, stood before the television, watching the news for anything that may, in a rare instance, catch his interest.

"Ready, Olivia?" Nathan called, while glancing away from the screen, seeing the Kobold in question coming down the stairs.

"Yeah!" She chirped, smile wide. It being infectious, as Nathan formed one of his own.

But just as he went to turn off the television, his ears caught the current report,

"More U.S. forces have been deployed back into the Middle East due to a resurface in insurgent activity. The group responsible for the attacks still have yet to be named, but if the rumors are to be believed, they appear to be calling themselves Lazarus-!" The television cut off, but when it did, Nathan stared for a second longer than he meant.

Tossing the remote onto the couch, he walked over to Olivia, placing a kiss on her head before pulling on his jacket.

"So, Jubilee Gardens?" Olivia nodded, while her tail wagged enthusiastically, before the two exited the house and got onto the bike.

As the two drove down the street, they passed by a certain building, that of MI6. And unbeknownst to the two, a pair of agents just so happened to watch as they passed by. Watching from a window on the highest floor.

"Bit of a bold move, don't you think?" Anderson asked, causing Smith to hum. "Placing her with him. 'Specially considering he is technically the reason of her parents' untimely death." Smith, watching as the bike disappeared from view, didn't say anything. It was only when their names were called, did she look away.

"You two ready?" A man in a fine tailored suit asked, accent as thick as his mustache. Both agents nodded before following him inside a room. Inside was a wide array of individuals of all nationalities gathered around a large table stocked to the brim with paper work. But the most common of is all, was that before each person was a folder that was labeled 'Lazarus'.

Smith, with Anderson beside her, picked up a small remote and powered on the projector that hung above the tabled.

"Ladies & Gentlemen," The G-Woman began, "thank you all for coming. I'm sure you're all aware of why this meeting is being held and have read the contents of the folders in front of you." A pregnant pause. "It seems, we have a new threat to the world…" She clicked the remote, causing the name to come up on screen. "Only this time, despite what the news says, it isn't just isolated to one region of the world like it's been for the past few decades." Another image came up, each continent a different color. "This is a world-wide organization. One that doesn't care of your race, nationality or religion." Another image came up, and with it, the room's temperature seemingly dipped a few degrees. An image of multiple humans and Extra-Species corpses, lined up with a sign hung around their necks. Each one with the same statement, with the only difference being the language it was written in, 'No. More. Co-Existence.' After a minute of deafening silence, Smith finally said, "But what it does care about, is your stance on Human/Extra-Species relations…"
