Thanks for your guy's reviews they make me laugh sometimes, and a laugh is what I really need these days. Concerning Angela/Korsak sex it felt awkward when I wrote it but idk felt the need to let you guys know they do have a sex life lol definitely not as much as Rizzles sex lol (they really are like damn rabbits) I'm going to try and focus this chapter on Maura, I feel like I'm almost always writing sort of in Jane's perspective.
Jane and Maura laid in their hotel bed, they both had a very enjoyable time in the bath which led back to their bed. Maura looked over at Jane who was 'resting her eyes', but Maura knew that Jane had fallen asleep. Maura gently stroked Jane's hair, just admiring the beautiful woman. She was still overwhelmed with emotions wondering how she had landed a woman like Jane in her life. Maura was grateful for being welcomed into the Rizzoli family, even long before she had gotten with Jane. Being with them just felt natural, how a real family was supposed to be like.
Maura slipped out from underneath the covers, she tried to move to not disturb Jane, but as soon as she got up Jane shuffled, offering a small groan. Maura couldn't help but laugh at her reaction, she leaned down and kissed Jane on the top of the head, "I'll be right back," she whispered, going to put on her clothes. Maura was wanting to head to Rockefeller Center to partake in some ice skating, and then for dinner she had made reservations at Oceana, she reserved private setting in the Wine Room. She read up on some nice wine choices, she was positive that Jane would enjoy the drink selection even though she preferred beer, but somehow Maura was able to get her to appreciate wine. It was little things that Jane did now, Maura didn't know if it was just to make her happy, or that Jane really enjoyed this new palette of drinking. Either way she didn't mind it.
Maura had gotten dressed and then went to go check her phone, she had a couple of messages, one was from Angela and the other one was from Hope. Maura couldn't remember the last time she spoke to her birth mother. She decided to check her message first.
Hey Maura, I hope you are enjoying your holidays. I feel like we should talk soon. I want to know how you're doing. Talk later hopefully xoxo - Hope.
Maura sighed and then went to see what Angela had written.
I didn't mean to bother you while you're in New York. I would text Jane but she would be all you know Jane-like. Jo Friday is doing well. I went to the store today and ran into Hope, she asked about how Jane was and how you were and well I didn't tell her anything, I figured if you wanted her to know you would tell her. I kinda told her she should just talk to you if she wants to know things. If she contacts you, I apologize. You kids have fun.
Maura then reread Hope's message, she sat down on the corner of the bed. "Of course she wouldn't just ask how I was, she was basically told to talk to me," she whispered out loud, running a hand through her hair. She texted Hope back, out of courtesy.
My holiday has been delightful, spending it with Jane in NYC. Hope all is well, we can talk whenever I get back in Boston.
Maura put her phone away, laid down on the bed, fully clothed next to a naked, sheet covered Jane. She ignored the ding of her phone moments later, she figured Hope had texted back.
Jane shuffled in the bed, snuggling up next to Maura. "Welcome back to bed," she whispered. Maura glanced over at Jane who opened her eyes, she immediately noticed the upset look on Maura's face. Jane sat up, "Hey, are you okay Maur?"
Maura nodded, "Yes and no. Yes because I'm here with you and I have no reason to be sad about that. No because I got a message from Hope, apparently Angela ran into her at the store and I guess the only reason Hope texted me was because Angela told her to talk to me if she wanted to know things."
Jane glanced at Maura, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, "Is there anything I can do to help?" Jane wasn't particularly fond of Hope, but she wanted to make sure Maura was okay.
Maura shook her head, "I told her we could talk whenever I'm back in Boston, if you wanted to join me when I go talk to her, that would be very much appreciated."
Jane nodded, kissing Maura's cheek, "Of course, we're part of a team."
"There is one more thing you could do," Maura moved to go grab her phone and she handed it over to Jane. "You mind reading what she texted back?"
"Sure," Jane looked at the phone and Hope's message.
Oh, okay. I thought you were dating that one guy, was he too busy to come? We can talk in Boston, that'd be great. Sorry to have bothered you on your trip. You girls have fun.
"How delightful," Jane rolled her eyes. Maura looked over at Jane concerned.
"What did she say?"
"Let's just say when we come out to her it will definitely throw her for a loop," Jane handed Maura her cell phone back. Maura frowned when she read that message.
Maura looked at the time. "Ready to get dressed and go ice skating?"
Jane nodded, "Yeah sure, I should be done soon," Jane got out of the bed to go get her clothes to get bundled up ready for the winter weather. Maura just sat on the bed fiddling with her phone. She was too distracted to watch Jane walk away from her with no clothes on.
Maura opened up her contacts and pressed Hope's number, she waited for Hope to pick up, which she did on the second ring.
"Maura darling, I wasn't expecting a call, thought we'd talk later?"
"After getting your message I thought, we should just talk now, and you can decide if you want to talk when I get back to Boston with Jane," Maura walked over to the window, she noticed that it started to snow. "There's something I decided that you should know."
"I'm glad you called too, I ran into Angela this afternoon, she didn't have much to say. It was odd, so I was curious of what there was going on in your life."
Maura rubbed the back of her neck, "I'm getting married," she admitted.
"Maura, that's great, oh I see that's why you're not in New York with the guy you were seeing, spending time with your best friend before you become attached to-" she starts but Maura cut her off.
"Jane's the one I'm getting married to. In the spring..." she paused feeling Jane come up behind her, she glanced at Jane only for a second before looking back outside.
"Oh I was not aware that you were, a, you know... I always got a vibe from Jane."
"I'm not, not exactly... I love who I love no matter what the gender. Jane is the only person who makes me feel okay, I've never been happier. Jane doesn't give off a vibe, you're stereotyping, and I don't appreciate it." Maura frowned.
"Honey, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that," Hope paused, "Can I talk to Jane for a moment?"
Maura put the phone down, covering up the speaker, turning to Jane, "She wants to talk to you."
Jane nodded, grabbing the phone from Maura, "Hello Dr. Martin."
"Hi Jane, I'm sure you've been hearing the conversation me and my daughter are having, I just wanted to ask you something."
"Sure, ask me anything," Jane sighed, gripping the phone.
"Are you... do you love my daughter?"
"Yes, I love Maura very much. And I also hate seeing her get upset," Jane frowned.
"I-I see. I didn't mean to stereotype you, or offend you by saying you give off a vibe. It's just, I always thought she would settle down with a man and you know, have a family. And well I'm sure your mother would want the same from you... she didn't mention anything when we ran into each other, so I just thought she was ashamed of something."
"Dr. Martin, I don't know what you're insinuating, but everyone has been accepting of my relationship with Maura, my mother included, she could never be ashamed of my choice, because Maura just fits in with us, we make her feel like she actually belongs somewhere. She belongs in my life, and I know, sure... people might not agree with our choices, but the people who actually matter support us no matter what. It's a shame if you can't be one of those people," Jane spoke in anger. "Maura is finally happy and I'd be damned if anyone gets in the way of that. Goodbye Dr. Martin," she huffed before handing the phone back to Maura.
Maura put the phone back to her ear, "I think Jane said it all, but if you can't support this relationship or marriage, then you don't have to be a part of it or a part of my life. Not like you were a big part of my life anyways."
"Maura, I didn't mean to upset you or Jane..."
"I don't want your apology, I don't even need your approval. It would just be nice if I had a family as supportive as Jane's. I have to go now, enjoy the rest of your holidays," Maura spoke with tears in her eyes before hanging up. Jane just gave her best friend a sad look and Maura wrapped her arms around Jane's neck, pulling her into a hug, gently crying into Jane's jacket.
Jane rubbed Maura's back, kissing the top of her head, she wasn't exactly sure what to say, she didn't even know if anything needed to be said.
Maura sniffled and pulled away moments later, "I shouldn't have called her. We should go."
"Are you sure? We can stay in and do things tomorrow."
"Yes I'm sure Jane, I don't want to stay here just feeling sorry for myself and the lack of support of my family."
Jane nodded at Maura's words, "Alright, but if you decide you want to come back to the hotel, even if it's earlier than planned just let me know, okay?"
"Okay," Maura grabbed her things, pulling on her jacket. "Thanks for... sticking up for our relationship."
"Always. For eternity, remember?"
Maura smiled, standing on her toes to give Jane a soft kiss, her hand resting on Jane's cheek as she pulled away. "Ready to go fall on our asses as we partake in ice skating?" Maura asked, and both women shared a much needed laugh, and there was sure to be a lot more laughing once they got to Rockefeller Center.
