Chapter 22

"Emma, honey it's time" Jacquelyn said with little tears in her eyes looking at her youngest daughter.

Kate was putting the final touches on Emma's makeup.

"Annnnndddd done" Kate said with a smile as Emma stood up turning to her mother.

"Do I look okay?" she asked as the waterworks started all over again.

"Ohhh honey... you look beautiful" Her father said stepping into the room.

"You think so?" she asked as he and her mother nodded quickly.

"Most beautiful girl in the world" he said softly as she walked over to him looking up into his eyes. "Alright, let's go get you married" he said pulling her veil over her face.

Ethan looked at the watch on his arm before looking over to Johnny. They were supposed to start five minutes ago.

"You think she changed her mind?" he asked nervously as Johnny snorted a laugh at him.
"Yeah, she's stealing your car too as she catches the nearest flight back to England" Johnny joked as Ethan rolled his eyes. "Relax man, she's probably just as nervous as you are" He explained before the wedding planner popped her head through the back door of the church giving them a quick thumbs up.

They both straightened up as soft music played.

Jacquelyn was escorted to her seat as the mother of the bride by one of the ushers. Then Kate walked down by herself as the Maid of honor. She gave Ethan and Johnny a wink before taking her place on the opposite side of the altar.

Then Marlan and Megan came down arm in arm before taking their respective places.

This was supposed to be a much larger group but shit happened.

Then the bridal march music started as Ethan straightened up again looking towards the door.

There she was walking to him holding her father's arm. She looked like Christmas morning.

"Johnny" he said softly.

"I know" Johnny said back softly as they both just stared.

"So beautiful" he said a little louder than expected because there were definite awwws coming from the first row.

She smiled at him with tears in her eyes. Five months pregnant and she still looked amazing in that dress.

Ethan stepped down to take her from her father. The two men shared a short hug before Chris took his seat next to Jacquelyn.

"Now, may you all be seated" the priest said as the church sat down.

"We are gathered here today to celebrate with Ethan and Emma as they proclaim their love and commitment to the world. We are gathered to rejoice, with and for them, in the new life they now undertake together." he said before looking around at the shifty faces in the church.

"If anyone has just cause why these two shouldn't be together... please speak now or forever hold your peace" the priest said just to be safe.

Ethan and Emma looked at each other. He wasn't supposed to add that part at request. Then Ethan glared.

Lin first, who looked away rolling her eyes.

Then Sam who gave him a smirk. They both knew something that everyone else didn't. She just kept smiling at him before shaking her head no.

He swallowed hard before returning his focus to the priest and Emma.

"Now, Ethan and Emma, the relationship you enter into today must be grounded in the strength of your love and the power of your faith in each other. To make your relationship succeed it will take unending love. It will take trust, to know in your hearts that you truly want what is best for one another and to learn and grow together. It will take faith, to go forward together without knowing what the future holds. If you both come freely, and understand the responsibility and work involved to make your relationship thrive, and are committed to not only each other but your family, please take each other by the hands and reply 'we do.'"

"We do " the young couple said holding each others hands.

"Now for the vows. Ethan, repeat after me:

"Emma, you are my best friend and everlasting companion. You have brought me the truest happiness I have ever known. I take joy today in committing my life to yours." He said as Ethan repeated those words back to Emma.

"Now place the ring on her hand and repeat after me... with this ring, I promise to stand with you as we share this life, and cherish the memories we make together." Ethan placed the ring on Emma's finger before repeating the words again.

"Now Emma. Your turn repeat after me. Ethan, you are my best friend and everlasting companion. You have brought me the truest happiness I have ever known. I take joy today in committing my life to yours." he said as Emma repeated the words back to Ethan.

"Now place the ring on his hand and repeat after me... with this ring, I promise to stand with you as we share this life and cherish the memories we make together." Emma slipped the ring onto Ethan's finger repeating the words back to him.

"Ethan and Emma, prior to this moment you each walked a separate path. Now, you embark together on a shared path. Yet the journey is not yours alone, for you have already been blessed with a beautiful child. It is the strength of your love that shall nourish you all together as a family. Today you have stood before these witnesses and declared your intent to commit your lives to each other in marriage. You have made promises to each other and your family. Your road to this moment has not always been smooth, but you continued to fight for one another. I hope you will never forget the fight and perseverance it has taken to get to this moment. And I hope you will never forget the love and joy you feel today, because these are the values that will keep your marriage, family and bond to one another strong." the priest said with a smile.

"And so, by the power vested in me by the American Marriage Ministries and the State of Michigan, I now pronounce you husband and wife.

Ethan, you may kiss your bride" Ethan removed her veil pressing his lips to hers in a gentle kiss as everyone clapped and cheered.

"For the first time ever I introduce to you. Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Santos" the priest said as more cheers rang out and Ethan kissed Emma again.

Flashback

Las Vegas, Nevada

"Sam are you sure this was a good idea?" Aidan asked fidgeting with the ring on his finger.
"Do you trust me?" she asked looking up at him him.

He nodded his reply before she stopped him. Standing in front of him grabbing his face in her hands.

"Do you trust me?" she asked again .
"Yes" he answered giving her a weak smile.
"They can never take you from me now" she said before giving him a quick peck on the lips.
"I love you " he said with that hazy smile gazing into her eyes.
"I know Danny" she said giving him another kiss. "Let's have fun" she said pulling him along with her down the streets of Las Vegas.
