A/N: Sorry, I know I took longer than normal to update, I've been hanging with my best friend a lot and we haven't seen each other in a while because quarantine. I haven't forgotten this story by any means!
"David Rossi."
"Hey Dave, it's Haley."
"Oh, nice to talk to you again. How are you? I heard that you've got 4 foster kids, congratulations! I've only really talked to Derek, but I did meet the older girl… Emily, if I remember. She seems sweet. What's wrong?"
"Dave… do you remember the Kelchers? From Aaron and I's class?"
"I do… why?"
"Well, they've got kids now, and they seem to be following in the same footsteps as their parents."
"I see. Is there something you need me to do?"
"Well, you said you've met Emily. She's 13. Well, her and her friend Elle were walking home after Gideon's class...and… God, Rossi, you should see them."
"Haley, what happened?" He asked her, his tone switching to complete seriousness.
"The oldest of the Kelcher children… they're twins… the boy and a bunch of his friends… we're taking them to the hospital now."
"Haley, breath, I need you to hand the phone to Aaron, ok?" A few seconds of silence passed before a new voice spoke.
"Hey Dave."
"Aaron, what's going on? Haley sounds on the verge of tears earlier. She mentioned your oldest foster daughter and her friend, said that you are taking them to the hospital? What happened?"
"I need a favor. You're on good terms with the middle school principal, right?"
"Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?"
"7 students, male, from both the high school and the middle school, they beat up Emily and Elle while they were walking home. I need you to get them out of that school. I'm sick of the Kelchers getting away with everything."
"The Kelcher twins did that? To them? Why?"
"According to Elle, she's had a target on her back since she rejected him last year and Emily acquired one pretty fast since she became Elle's friend. So, can you pull some strings and get them out?"
"I'll try. I need an injury report to give to the school board though," he was telling Aaron when his wife Caroline and their old friend Tara walked in.
"Thank you Dave. I'll keep you updated." He heard on the other line before the phone call ended. He turned to the 2 women who had just walked in.
"You remember Haley Brooks and Aaron Hotchner, right?"
"Of course I do. Why?" Caroline said as she sat down.
"Have you met any of their foster kids? Or their friends"
"Yeah, Derek's in my class. He's friends with Luke Alvez, I think."
"I know Emily, their second oldest. She's my protege, sort of. Speaks 7 languages fluently, she's really sweet. I know her and another one of my students, Elle Greenaway, are very close. Why? Is she ok?" Tara asked with concern edging her words. She had grown to care very deeply for Emily Prentiss over the last few weeks.
"No. They're alive, but her and her friend Elle were jumped and got beaten up pretty badly a few hours ago. They're going to the hospital now."
"Oh my God! Who was it? It was the Kelcher kids, wasn't it? And that other kid, Ian Doyle? I've seen the way he looks at Emily, Elle, and Kate when they're talking in the hallways. What do we do? Tara asked in rapid-fire.
"You're right about some of who did it. There were 7 guys, 8th and 9th grade. The Kelchers and Ian Doyle were among them. Aaron and Haley asked me to help make them face the consequences of their actions."
"Should we call Jason? You know Haley and Alex and all of them were taken under his wing when they were in school. He's got an ok relationship with Elle, Emily, Derek, and Luke too as far as I can tell. He'll want to know." Caroline reasoned with her husband.
"I'm not making that call. But you can if you wish darling," he said with a small smile as she stepped out to make the call.
"Foyet's known about the Kelcher's behavior for years, and yet he never did anything. There was more than enough evidence to suspend them, or even expel them, yet he turned a blind eye for a check." Tara scoffed. "It's ridiculous it had to get this far. Emily and Elle have been through enough in their lives, they don't need this to add to it," she said bitterly.
"Jason's on his way down now," Carolyn said as she stepped back into the office. "He's pissed."
"As he should be," Tara said angrily. "Now, what are we going to do?"
