Will and Pearl made the long walk back to the Pelican in somewhat comfortable silence. They had both gotten some emotional baggage off their chests. But Will was a little concerned about Quasar. His AI companion had been silent since the launch of the Indianapolis. He simply figured that he would tell him when he felt like it.
His heavy feet sunk partially in the red planets soil compared to the barely noticeable imprint of Pearl's feet.
'I sometimes wish I was back in the UNSC. We may have been treated like living weapons, but at least things were simple. I'm not used to all these emotions from everyone.' he thought to himself.
Will walked up the cargo bay ramp with a surprisingly soft sound from a half ton Spartan. He saw Pearl was still on his motion tracker behind him so he continued toward the cockpit. He made his way calmly through the troop bay and the armory to the small set of steps.
He quickly made his way up and sat in the large pilots chair. While the thin gem next to him took the co pilots seat. He could then feel the neural implant connect to the Pelicans systems. He fired the reactor back up and the engines ignited a few moments later. They grew in both noise and power before they gently lifted off. He increased the power of the engines further and they shot up into the atmosphere.
Pearl was fascinated by UNSC vehicles. She was so used to archaic human and gem ones for so long. While many things from the UNSC would be considered crude to gem standards. Such as the nuclear fusion drives and Kinetic weapons.
But many things were just as advanced or even more than gem designs. Such as neural interfaces, artificial gravity, speed and pure strength.
She fully admitted that Homeworld ships, while long lasting. Otherwise their wouldn't be anything left, being in Earth's elements for millennia. We're somewhat fragile. They were so used to only fighting other gems that only used missiles, lasers and plasma. Which is why their hulls were incredibly resistant to energy and heat.
But UNSC ships were built to a much tougher degree. Thick armor plating, advanced superstructures built to take massive damage, and their integrity to kinetic energy.
While they are definitely lacking in energy resistance from what she could tell. They were analyzing Homeworld ships to make an even more durable metal.
It was both a curious and horrifying thought. The humans they had been protecting for so long were relatively passive. Only being few major conflicts in their history.
But from Will's humanity, they were both brutal and smart. They nearly destroyed themselves countless times. But they only advanced their technology faster as a result of conflict. Their sheer capability to bring about destruction was insane. And to think the Covenant were much more dangerous was downright horrifying.
It only would take the humans and Covenant days to do what Homeworld took centuries to do.
That is what she thought about in the darkest corners of her mind. The possibility of the Covenant finding them. Or the infinitely small chance that the main UNSC turned against them. They could destroy earth with just one bomb if they absolutely wanted to. That is something that she kept to herself and Garnet. The two not wanting Amythest, Lapis and especially Steven to know. She only hoped that he would remain out of the conflict for as long as possible.
Will and Pearl had stepped out of the Pelican to a surprisingly quiet hangar. The only people they saw being a few gaurds and mechanics as well as a human robonoid.
It wasn't to surprising given the fact that it would be about nighttime where they were. They had been gone for almost half a day by now.
Pearl followed him out of the Pelican and they walked to the main elevator. The transparent Aluminum doors opened to let the 2 inside. Will pushed a button on the pad to bring them to the space elevator. They sat again in silence as the elevator moved quickly but smoothly to their destination.
The elevator opened and they again went down the white and orange walkways of the station to reach their destination. Pearl stared at the massive room that held the primary and secondary elevators. The massive airlock doors around the room being there to move materials out into the void. She now noticed a second level over 50 feet in the air. It was connected to the ground by 2 elevators and sets of stairs.
"What's up there?" She asked.
Will didn't stop showing toward the small elevator as he answered. "That is the prototype human warp pad. Able to be used by anyone." He said.
Pearl wasn't to surprised to hear this. She had guessed that humans would want warp pads of their own for instantaneous transport. She could only guess how large the pad was given the size of the platform. Or maybe there were multiple pads?
They entered the small elevator and the windows of the same material framed with Titanium passed by them at a lightning pace as they travelled half down toward earth. The sky they travelled through slowly became brighter and more familiar. The elevator finally came to a stop and the doors opened.
They walked out of the massive base of the elevator. The large open archway that led to a massive glass corridor to the warp pad had a hidden bulkhead to cut off the base if need be.
Pearl admired the view of the Caribbean outside as they made their way down the corridor. The large Titanium and transparent Aluminum structure elbeing a marvel of engineering in of itself.
It may have been the late evening currently but the peaceful sight of rolling waves and swaying palm trees soothed her.
The large hub she had now noticed had several warp pads off to the side. The one they came here on being a larger one. Big enough to carry 2 warthogs side by side. While the others were normal sized.
Will stepped into the large pad and Pearl followed close behind. The moment she stopped moving in the pad it activated. The familiar white beam that cut through Slipspace bringing them home. The trip only lasted a few seconds before they appeared back in the beach house.
Pearl was about to step off to go to the house before Will blocked her with his large armored arm.
"What are you doing?!" She questioned the Spartan.
Will said nothing as he summoned a shotgun from his Gem. He kept it firmly grasped in his armored hands. He quickly scanned around for anything. His motion tracker being put to use as well.
"Where is everyone." He didn't so much as ask as he stated. Will could even feel Quasar looking through security cameras and turrets. Both the Spartan and AI being on high alert.
Pearl put a hand to her head. Sighing deeply at the paranoid Spartan. "Their most likely all gone. After all, it's not like their here all the time. Their just Gem's for the most part. And Steven is probably hanging out with his friend Connie." The gem stated.
Will didn't think that for a moment. "The room is to quiet." He said as he very carefully and slowly peered around the room. Nothing appeared out of place. But that only served to further put him on edge.
"Of course it's quiet. That's is what happens when nobody is here!" She said.
Quasar spoke up from his Helmet. "That's the point. Nothing is running, all the cameras are off and the turrets are down." The AI said.
Will spoke as well as he approached the main living room. "In the wild, silence is never a good thing. There's always background noise. Even in cities and homes there's always the hum of a fridge or the whine of a light. Pure silence is never a good sign." He said.
Pearl started to get nervous. "And why is that?"
"Because that means there is a predator close by. The silence means that every animal goes quiet or flees. But in this case." He said as he slowly pointed up to the rafters.
"It means someone is here." Was all he got to say before a black blur swooped down from the ceiling and smashed into him. His shields flaring gold as they held. But they didn't stop him form slamming into the back wall of the temple. The shields breaking with the force of his second impact.
Pearl barely had time to register what happened before a metal rod jammed into her stomach. Yellow lines crawled up her and she could feel her physical form breaking. All she saw as she looked at her attacked was a mane of jet black hair, grey skin, and charcoal black eyes. And the wicked smile. The one that was directed at her.
She didn't get to see her long before she looked. Her gem falling into the hands of the mysterious attacker. The unknown gem looked to Will. The Spartan slowly trying to get up. He lifted his helmet up to see the one who attacked them. Emotionless golden visor met wicked orbs of black. He would have Quasar get off his back and get her as he got up, but him being sent flying into a wall damaged the robonoids clamp. It was stuck to his back.
The gem turned around and walked slowly. She turned around to look at him. "How pitifully easy to kidnap all these traitors. And one abomination to round it off. The diamonds will be pleased when we bring them. I wonder if they'll be shattered right away or a more just punishment is in order." The gem then flashed a crimson smile and exited through the door.
The gem then dissapeared out the door in a flash. It was then that he cost the familiar cold feeling of Quasar transfering his programming into his chip. He immediately got a report that an unknown ship was exiting the atmosphere.
Flames feather hsi body as he got up. He immediately ran to the door. Quasar reading that suit power was at 300%. His anger fueled his gem powers that in turn made his armor even stronger.
Will dashed out the door and down the steps and hill at inhuman speeds. As soon as he hit sand he made jets of fire came out from his hands and feet as well as his back. He quickly accelerated and rocketed out toward the ocean. He increased the power of the flames more and more. The large plumes of green fire growing larger and larger. He then angled his body upward toward the sky. A needle on the speedometer saying that his speed was already mach 5. And showing no signs of slowing. The speed kept increasing and increasing as the plumes of flame slowly grew into what many older people would remember form the first stage of the Saturn 5.
Will rocketed through the atmosphere. His energy shields acting like a heat shield. Not that he would have cared, he was fireproof. He could almost see a Paris class frigate turn to face the fleeing vessel. Sadly no Corvettes were there and fighters wouldn't be deployed quickly enough. So the ship launched an Archer missile and it soared to the stealth ship that had come out of hiding. It zoomed toward it and exploded a hundred feet away. The near explosion rattled the ship and caused to veer to the right.
Will rocketed toward the stealth ship and slowed down only enough to where he wouldn't become a human MAC shell. He still impacted the ship with enough force to severely dent the metal it was made of. The ship itself was about 30 M wide, 25 M long and 8 M high. The ship that looked like a gem version of a B-2 Spirit. He summoned his energy sword. The brilliant blades of green plasma spring forth and he pointed it into the side of the hull. The energy sword carved through the hull like thick butter, he then pulled away the piece of armor plating and leapt inside. The atmosphere of the ship seeming to be held in by a blue field. He had wound up in a large circular room. He quickly ran through the corridor and bulkhead in didn't of him in the black and grey Gem ship. Quasar was trying to hack their systems and give him into. But the best he could do right now was give him a map. With a speed of over a hundred MPH he ran through the ship. Spartan time had activated for him as his incredibly speed only seemed to be a light jog. He ran left and had to dodge out of the way as his motion tracker detected something heading toward him.
He skid along the floor of the ship. He turned his head to the one that tried to attack him. It was the same gem, the one that ambushed him and poofed Pearl. Behind her he could see the cockpit, and piloting the ship was none other than Peridot. He couldn't tell if the gem in front of him wanted to either scowl or smile. He now noticed that her entire torso and most of her legs and arms were covered in a black suit. It had dark grey lines running along it to all converge in the center to a large White Diamond. Her pitch black eyes stared into his visor. Her back boots lightly touching the ground to showed she would move at any second. He quickly took the Robonoid off his back and Quasar with it. He activated his comm to communicate with the AI. "Find the gems and get them off this ship now!" He said before he threw the partially dented robonoid behind him before he summoned 2 M6D Magnums and rushed forward.
He fired a multiple of rounds at the gem who his scanners said was a Jet. But Jet simply moved at insane speeds around the rounds. She got up close and stabbed him in the chest with a large combat knife form her gem. The knife pinged off his shields and took it over halfway down. He then grabbed this knife from his waist and his energy sword. The Titanium blade and plasma blade were held in his hands. He entered Spartan time and rushed forward. But even in the legendary Spartan state Jet was a blur. All he could do was barely deflect the knife with his own. he swung his energy sword swiftly at her. But the gem was already gone and it simply stabbed into the ground. He quickly pulled it from the ground. But he was kicked in the back and sent stumbling forward. His shields were now at Roughly 20%.
He was alerted to another person when his motion tracker blipped. He dodged to the side as a large ornate ball nearly slammed dingo him. It scuffed hsi golden shields as it passed.
But focusing on the orange Gem caused Jet to get a solid hit in. She stabbed at the back of his chestplate. She intended to hit his neck but his shields made it ricochet down and hit his chestplate as they shattered. The knife dug in over an inch to the ship grade armor. Jet simply let the knife stay there and summoned a new one. The knife remaining in his chestplate.
He stumbled forward and turned it into a roll as he put away the sword and knife half I to their sheaths and summoned a shotgun. He racked the slide fast as humanly possible at the black blur and orange gem. The pellets mostly missed the hypersonic Gem. But a few hit and caused her some pain. A few hit the large orange gem as well. But unlike Jet they simply tell flat on her skin. But it did appear to cause some pain.
His armor told him that it was a Jasper as he dodged to the side of the blur. Jet still was able to smash him with her knife. The cut digging a quarter inch into the plate. Jet then skid to a halt as she turned around to the Spartan. Balded did the same as she summoned her crabs helmet. Will put away and brought out 2 M7 SMG's. He used a blast of flame to rocket himself into the air and spray a torrent of bullets at the Gem's.
One of the bullets hit Jet in the side, but it did little to slow here down. If anything it just looks like he made her angry. And the orange gem took multiple, but the small careless rounds simply were like paintballs. They stung but did little damage. Will brought out a 40 mm grenade launcher and launched an explosive shell at Jasper She dodged to the side but he already loaded another one. So he lobbed it again and it hit her square in the chest. Sending her reeling back. But Jet had gotten close in this time.
Will brought up the launcher to deflect jets knife. It skid down the side of the 40 mm. Creating a shower or Sparks as it cut away small amounts of Titanium. He used a blast of fire to push himself away from the black Gem. He then made a large ring of fire around so that she couldn't escape. He then rushed forward in a blast of fire with his sword. The flaming Spartan quickly closed the distance in Spartan time. But Jet was still a blur. She ran circles around him, slashing and stabbing. Thankfully his shields had fully recharged, but they quickly dropped again under this knife barrage. He twisted his body so the next knife skid along the chest plate. Creating another large slash in the metal. He only was able to glance at his motion tracker to see that Jasper ran toward him. So he jumped into the air and grabbed the back of Jasper's hair. He had the white locks in an iron grip as he swung her around by the hair. Which he then hit Jet with like a Gem club. The orange gem cursing him all the while.
"Damnit Jasper, get off me and kill this Human!" Growled Jet.
Jasper just growled at the speed Gem. "Your the one that was in the way runt!" They started bickering before they noticed a small green ball with indents all over. They then looked to the Spartan who simply flipped them the bird before the grenade exploded.
"Infighting will only bring you down." He said before he used a jet of flame to go after Quasar and find Steven and the Gem's.
At least he would, if a bright red/orange fist smacked into his face. Causing his shields to collapse and him to flip straight into the wall head down. His extreme weight was to much and he crashed through the wall and into a hallway next door.
Quasar grumbled as he slowly got up from being thrown. "Who does he think he is throwing me like that!" He then extended his reinforced cylindrical legs and started down the hallway.
The lime green hallways were broken up by reinforced bulkhead doors around the ship he noticed. It took him a minute to hack into the systems of the ship. "These firewalls are even better than the Covenants. I cannot imagine what planet side ones are like."
He quickly made his down a ramp to the floor below and to the prison cells. As he approached he could hear faint singing. He knew he recognized it from somewhere. So he carefully peered into the cell that it was coming from. If his avatar was there it's eyes would widen.
"Sapphire!?" He said.
The blue gem simply stood up and walked over to him. Just in front of the yellow glowing field. "I knew you would come, but we need to go find Steven." She said calmly.
Quasar crawled up the wall and positioned himself over the door controls. He extended one leg into the panel and could feel the data enter his processor. He deactivated the door in moments and the short blue gem walked out.
"Is Steven okay Fortune Teller." He said as he activated his avatar that had a grin on it's face.
Sapphire simply stated at him for a moment before summoning her gauntlet. "Don't call me that. As for Steven he is already out of his cell." She said as she started to ran down the hallway.
Quasar deactivated his avatar. "What do you mean 'out of his cell' I havent even opened it yet." The AI asked as he caught up with her. The blue gem didn't answer him as they continued running.
Quasar wanted to argue but knew this wasn't the time. Although he did find it a bit funny that she had to lift up her dress just to run. 'Probably should consider some better combat clothing.'
They didn't make it very far before they ran into Steven, who behind which was Ruby, Amythest and Pearl. He watched as the red gem smiled and hugged Sapphire. They both giggled as they danced around and collapsed into a ball of light, out of which Garnet came.
Quasar looked to Steven who had stars in his eyes as he watched. Now that he thinks about it a kid probably shouldn't be watching this. Fusion seems pretty intimate sometimes, especially between those 2.
'Eh I'll worry about that later.' He thought.
Steven ran up to Garnet with a look of amazement on his face. "Why didn't you tell me you were a Fusion." He asked.
Garnet had a look of sadness cross her face before it dissapeared. "We were gonna tell you on your birthday. But the surprise got ruined." She said as she rubbed his head playfully. Quasar noticed that her uniform had some blue crossed with red now.
"Hate to break this up, but we're still on an alien ship. With 2 powerful gem warriors and Peridot. With a frigate behind us waiting to get off to blow it to kingdom come." Deadpanned the AI.
Pearl looked to them. "He's right, We need to get off this ship."
Steven backed up from Garnet and summoned his shield effortlessly. "We need to find Lapis." Just from the tone of his voice alone he knew there was no stopping him.
"There's one more cell in use further down the hall, I'll take you to it." Said Quasar to Steven.
Steven nodded and the 2 took off, with Amythest following not far behind. "I'm not letting you 2 go alone and have fun without me."
Garnet and Pearl ran down the hallway and up the ramp. They were about to turn to go to the bridge before they saw a certain Spartan come crashing through a wall. The hulk of green armor skidding across the floor in front of them. He let his helmet slump back against the floor. "She fucking made me slam through a damn wall!" He yelled as he get to his feet with the help of Garnet and Pearl.
Will saw his shields were beginning to recharge with a golden glow. His form once more engulfed in flames.
The three then watched as the new Gem stepped through the new hole in the wall. The gem was taller than him and Garnet by a good foot. Probably as tall as rose.
She had bright yellow skin with red and orange hair. Her eyes were a dark crimson and her smile was simply manic. Her form was covered by a red and black suit that had a yellow diamond in the chest.
Garnet summoned her gauntlets and brought her chaingun to her back. Pearl summoned her Spear and SMG. Will brought out shotgun and a strange purple and black pistol that Garnet and Pearl never saw before.
The Gem in corny of them spoke as Jasper and Jet came in the room behind her. The former spitting out a piece of shrapnel with a large piece stuck in her arm. While Jet had spot all over and several wounds from shrapnel.
"Impressive for a human. But this fight was decided the human you filth entered this ship." His visor had one word that crossed it over the new gem.
Sunstone.
"You realize were the only reasons your alive. If we weren't you'd be eating a MAC slug right now. And I'd very much like to see you try and pick ferric Tungsten out of your fucking teeth." The Spartan growled.
Sunstone simply grinned as her fists started to be engulfed by molten rock. She rushed forward and will let her with a flaming fist. Both her magma fist shattered as it met with the shielded, flaming Titanium fist. But Will's shields were knocked out with the force of the hit.
Garnet rushed Jasper and tried to sock her in the chin with her right gauntlet. Which Jasper ducked out of the way and slammed her fist I to her arm. Causing Garnet to grit her teeth in pain. Jasper then rushed forward and tried to hit her with her crash helmet. Which Garnet still expertly dodged and she whipped her chaingun off her back and got a few heavy rounds on Jasper before she out it away to dodge a blow form the now enraged gem. The heavy bullets Doug a lot more damage then the pistol rounds of the M7. There were now large bruises and a few puncture wounds on Jasper but it didn't slow her down to much.
Pearl meanwhile was trying desperately to keep up with Jet. Thankfully the grenade slowed her down, but she was still the fastest gem here. Pearl riser her spear to block the knife, but a second knife stabbed it into her hand and she dropped it. Site blood leaked out of her hand as she rolled out of the way of a second swipe and lifted the M7 to fire. A dozen rounds in the second she fired screamed out of the barrel. The first few hit Jet in the arm and she growled before she dodged out of the way of the rest of the bullets. Pearl continued to try and Chase her down with the stream of bullets. When the gun clicked to signify the 60 rounds have been spent she quickly ducked out of the way. She ripped out the magazine and pulled da new one from her gem.jusf as she j loaded the old one she had to dodge a knife form the pissed off Jet. Pearl barely had time to shield herself before she was stabbed. The stock of the SMG was almost nearly sliced off from the knife.
Jet then rushed her and took a slash at Pearl's side. Which made contact and resulted in a nasty cut to the side. More white blood leaked out of the wound. But she was able to get the magazine in and cock back the charging handle. But Jet punched her in the stomach and was about to bring the knife down on her head. But then Garnet punched Jet in the side of the head and she flew back into the wall and created a dent. But Jasper quickly came up behind her and Pearl let loose a burst of rounds into the orange Gem's face.
Jasper backed away as the material of her visor cracked and she had multiple bruises on her face. This only served to piss her off and she ran at the fusion and Pearl.
Will was having less luck than the other two. Sunstone could manipulate earth and even create weapons made from magma. It was more than a little annoying that she was also as durable as Jasper. She simply shrugged off full powered hits. So he started adding rockets of flame into his punched and actually started to get somewhere. He dipped low under her right hook and delivered a rocket punch into the underside of her jaw. Sunstone stumbled back and nearly fell over. She righted herself and glared at him with pure anger in her eyes. She then spit out a tooth as well as red/orange blood. He then summoned a shotgun and fired at her. But she dodged out of the way and the pellets made impacts against the wall. He fired 2 more shells at her but they were blocked with a rock wall. She then got up close and slammed a club of rock at him. Which shattered his shields and made his armor vibrate with the kinetic energy.
He ended bumping up bumping into Garnet. They ended back to back and turned to see each other. "Switch?" Asked Will.
Garnet nodded and they immediately opened fire onto their different enemies.
Jasper brought up her arm to shield herself from the shotguns devastating 8 Gauge buckshot brutally pelted her arms. Tearing large holes in it and leaking dark orange blood.
Garnet then unleashed a torrent of heavy rounds into the rock constructs of Sunstone. The high explosive rounds brutally tearing it apart before they hit the gem. Causing her to dodge out of the way and run to the side. Which Garnet then rushed forward and punched her hard enough to send her flying through several walls. Garnet then turned around and socked the wounded Jasper in the side of the helmet. Causing it to break and send her flying into the wall. Yet again creating a hole.
Will primed 2 grenades and threw them through the holes. Will heard them explode as he put the shotgun on his back and went to the wounded Pearl. He pulled out a can of biofoam and administered it into the wound. Despite the fact that she was a Gem it seemed to work just fine.
The pale gem hissed in pain as the liquid hit her gashes. It hit the wounds with a flash of pain. The painkillers then kicked in as it hardened and she sighed as she was pulled up by the Will and Garnet.
"Thanks you two, for the help. The knife would've most likely shattered me." She said with a sad expression.
Garnet just put her hand on Pearls shoulder. "You did good, Jet would've been a problem if it were just the 2 of us." She said with a smile.
Pearl then smiled at their leader. She then turned around to face will when he said catch. She saw him today her M7 to her and she caught it in her uninjured arm. Which she then out back in her gem. "That'll need to be prepared later."
Will just shrugged. "Not like it'll be that hard to replace a stock."
Garnet and Pearl finally had time to notice the damage to his armor. The chestplate was covered in several slashes and dents. The golden visor was slightly cracked and there was a large gash on the thigh plate.
"Are you okay, that's a lot of damage." Pearl said with a bit of concern. Will just looked to the 2 of them and shrugged. "It's not that bad. I've had a lot worse. Gem blades and punched have nothing on Plasma. Although I wasn't expecting them to damage Titanium so much." He said as he walked out into the hallway to go find Steven.
Garnet and Pearl simply looked at each other. Both concerned with the nonchalance of him taking damage. It wasn't insig ifigant either. They had noticed his mechanical arm twitch and spark slightly by the green glow of the wires. They just hoped there wasn't more serious damage.
Pearl banished the thought from her mind for now before following after with her hand over the biofoam covered wound.
"We're having him looked at wether he likes it or not after this is over." Garnet said as she followed after the two.
Pearl nodded. "I'm worried, he fought with such brutality and abandon. He's never fought with such anger and power before." Pearl said as she stared at the green armored Gem hybrid.
Steven, Quasar and Amythest ran toward where Lapis was located. Quasar obviously taking the lead since he knew the layout of the ship. But both Steven and Amythest were surprised when Quasar suddenly stopped in the hallway.
"Why'd you stop little Rodude?" The purple gem wondered.
"We've got incoming." Was all he said before a portion of the hull was blown open in didn't of them. The gems prepared their weapons for a fight. But they were shocked when they saw several men and women in black and blue armor.
"ODST's fan out and search for hostages. I want this entire ship searched in 10." Came the voice of a rather strict sounding woman.
Several ODST's noticed the three. "Ma'am, a few are right here." Said one.
The woman walked up to them. Seeming to scrutinize them before speaking. "Amythest and Steven I'm assuming. And this must be Quasar." She said as she looked at them.
Steven didn't know how to react. He had never seen any of these people before. Amythest simply put down her whip, but kept it ready for a moments notice.
"Sargeant Shepard." Said Quasar. The woman in question looked down to the AI. "There's still Lapis Lazuli trapped in one of the cells. I can lead your squad to her. But Steven and Amythest will be coming along." Said Quasar.
Shepard simply grabbed her shotgun. "Alright then, lead the way."
Quasar then moved again down the hallway. With Steven and Amythest behind him. And Shepard and 2 others following behind.
It didn't take long for them to reach their destination in the desceptively large ship. They came to a stop in front of the blue gems cell and Quasar immediately began hacking it.
"Lapis, were here to rescue you." Yelled the boy.
The gem in question looked up and smiled when she saw the boy. But it soon turned to a scowl when she saw Shepard and the other ODST's. "Who are you!?" She growled.
The other two raised their MA5B and M7 at Lapis. They looked ready to fire as the cells field dropped before Shepard waved them off. "Put down your weapons." She then turned to Lapis. "We're with the UNSC. We're on your side." She said simply.
Lapis still looked skeptical before she sighed and went up to Steven. "Are you ok?" She asked.
Amythest scoffed. "You think we would let him if he wasn't."
Lapis looked at her. "I don't know, you've let him do dangerous things before." She said with a bit of malice.
Amythest scowled. "Hey, I remember you not having a problem with him doing anything either!" She yelled.
Steven then got in front of the two before things could escalate further. "Calm down, I chose to go on dangerous missions. It's no one's fault but mine. So stop fighting, please." He said. Both Gem's backed away from each other. Still scowling but not actively about to fight. Steven sighed. 'it would have to do for now.' He thought.
The three gems and ODST's then exited the cell and made their way back to the makeshift enterance. Quasar notifying Will of where it was.
"Clods, why do you have to always mess with my stuff!" Screamed a voice form down the hallway. The 7 turned around to see Peridot behind them, charging up her plasma gun. She then shot a torrent of plasma balls at them. Steven activated his shield to protect everyone. But only Lapis and Amythest could fit behind it. The rest having to duck behind the lips of the door.
The plasma obsorbed harmlessly into the shield as Steven tried to push forward. But while the shield may be taking no damage, he was being worn out.
Amythest then jumped from behind it.
"Cover her." Yelled Shepard. Then the ODST with the M7 and rifle popped out and gave covering fire. Careful not to hit Steven and Lapis.
"Eek, not again!" Yelled Peridot as she ducked behind a corner as she saw them take aim. A moment later over a dozen rounds of pistol and rifle ammo screamed past her. She was about to try and stick her and out to fire when she noticed the purple runt came flying by. She then tossed her whip and wrapped it around her limb enhancer. Peridot felt herself by lifted off the ground and tossed around. The whip coming undone as she hit the wall.
Peridots back hurt like hell as she hit the wall. But it wasn't over as she had to turn her limb enhancer to flight mode to get out of the way of the human soldiers and their primitive but effective weapons. She felt burning pain as 2 rounds entered her upper leg.
She fired a plasma ball back and hit one of the humans in the chest causing it to stumble back and let out a hiss as it's black armor melted. But it didn't puncture through whatever it had underneath.
Peridot quickly got to her touch stumps and ran toward the escape pods. "I was told this would be a quick and clean mission. I didn't sign up for this!" She yelled. She turned back to see one human in armor chasing after her. She yelled as it's scatter weapon impacted against the metal of her enhancer legs. The metal being dented but not penetrated.
"Get back here you Dorito bitch!" Shepard yelled. She put her shotgun away and brought out her M6. She kept running at top speed as she aimed. The Magnum rounds impacting against the metal of her legs and hands. But in the last round in the magazine impacted the gem in the shoulder. Causing her to visably hiss before stumbling into an open door.
Shepard grabbed her shotgun and topped it up with shells. She quickly got to the door and immediately opened fire. Only for the buckshot to impact against a bulkhead and ricochet against her light Titanium plates.
She watched the gem do a small victory dance as she activated the escape pod. Shepard gritted her teeth as she saw the gem get away.
She heard fast footsteps down the hallway and looked to see Amythest approach. She phmpedtheslide half and loaded a shell to top off the shotgun. "Did you get her?" The short gem asked.
Shepard simply shook her helmeted head. "No, I didn't. She got away in an escape pod. And the damn thing was to fast. But we're not gonna let her get away." She said.
Amythest sighed. "Well, that sucks." She said as she kicked the wall. And immediately wincing as her foot painfully impacted the metal.
Shepard and Amythest returned to the rest. Sharing the bad news, which made Lapis scowl and Meadows sigh. She then looked down to Winter. It seems the kid had healed him with spit. At least he wouldn't have a burn on his chest for a few hours.
"What happened here?" Asked Will form the other way down the hallway. Both Garnet and Pearl were behind him. Which made Steven glad.
"Peridot got away, and this guy got shot." She gestured to Winter. The man in question getting up and grabbing his rifle. "Yeah, Dorito bitch shot me." He grumbled.
"Language!" Steven yelled. Which made Winter mouth what the fuck.
Garnet then spoke up. "Well, everyone's here, I think it's time to go home." The rest nodded and headed for the breach.
Attached to which was the hangar of the UNSC Ironclad. They could see all sorts of people walking around and getting fighters and dropships ready at moments notice. Many soldiers in light green armor came up to them.
The gems and ODST's soaked into the hangar. Ready to go home after a grueling day in the gems case. Shepard activated her comms. "Sargeant Shepard to bridge. Your clear to brkng ship into hangar."
Will's motion tracker blinked red for a moment and the world almost seemed to slow down as he entered Spartan time. But that didn't help him as he saw the red orange and black blur rocket towards him. It grabbed him and took him back into the ship.
Garnet was the first to turn around. Having just looked through the future and seeing this. But by the time she did it was already to late. Will was pulled back into the Gem ship. Which then proceeded to have 2 hidden cannons pop out and pelt the the Ironclad. The hull around the hangars was partially melted as it was forced to let go as the clamps lost thief hold on the small ship.
It pulled away and opened an emergency Slipspace jump. The location unknown.
