Chapter 40: Animan part 2
Scene: The akuma flies and infects Otis' bracelet.
Hawk Moth: Animan, I am Hawk Moth. I offer you the power to seek revenge, for a small price.
Otis: Yes, Hawk Moth. (turns into a panther)
"A panther?"
(Meanwhile, while Max is listening to him, Kim harasses another animal.)
Animan: (as a panther) Hey, kiddo. Still up for a little race? Go ahead, I'll give you a head start. (Kim and Max start running away) He's mine.
Rose shuddered. "You really shouldn't have angered that man."
Alya: (from the earpiece) This whole date thing with Nino is not happening! Ugh!
Nino huffed. "Well, that's rude!" Alya blushed.
Kim: He's coming!
Max: Get outta here!
(Marinette and Nino see Animan with the animals.)
Nino: We better ditch this place! (runs away from them)
"Nino!" Adrien just shook his head. "Are you dumb or what?"
Nino shurgged. "Probably, why?"
Adrien rolled his eyes.
"Before you RUN AWAY, you should take your date with you instead of leaving her behind! That's not how you tell someone you love them," Alya told him, sighing.
Nino blushed. "Right..I wasn't thinking."
"Well actually, that was better for me. One less excuse!" Marinette laughed.
(Marinette runs and hide and Adrien also sees Animan and the zoo animals then he hides behind the bushes)
"That;s unusual.."
Tikki: Why didn't you listen to Alya, Marinette?
Marinette: I couldn't help it! I didn't want Nino to be sad.
Nino laughed. "If only you had known.."
Tikki: We'll deal with that later. Now it's time to transform!
[ Transformation Sequence ]
Marinette: Tikki, spots on! Ha! (Marinette transforms into Ladybug)
Adrien: We've gotta do something. (Plagg sighs while he sits on Adrien's head)
[ Transformation Sequence ]
Adrien: Plagg, claws out! (Adrien transforms into Cat Noir)
(Kim runs away from Animan, but he reaches him)
Animan: You lost, kiddo. What do you think of panthers now?
Kim: That... panthers are the best?
"This is a bit harsh, even if you had been rude," said Max.
Ladybug: And what do you think about ladybugs?
Cat Noir: And another black cat?
Animan: I think I'm higher on the food chain.
"That sounds wrong," Alya laughed.
Hawk Moth: Animan, take their jewels! Their Miraculouses! Bring them to me!
Ladybug: If you value your life, get out of here! Now!
(Kim runs away. Animan chases him, but Ladybug stops him)
Ladybug: Cat Noir, his bracelet. The akuma must be inside the charm!
"How do you figure that our so quickly?" asked Alya.
"Skills," said Adrien. Marinette rolled her eyes.
Cat Noir: You hold him, I grab the bracelet.
Animan: (to the other animals) Attack!
(Ladybug and Cat Noir run.)
Cat Noir: We need to put them all back in their cages!
"How are you going to do that?" asked Rose.
"I don't remember," said Adrien honestly.
Ladybug: Oh, really? I'm sure they'll do it without putting up a fight!
Max frowned. "I wouldn't be so sure about that."
(Ladybug and Cat Noir see Alya and Nino running from the gorilla and the superheroes jump over them)
Ladybug: I think we'd better split up!
(she goes to the direction where Nino and Alya ran from the gorilla and she grabs Nino and Alya by the back of their clothing)
Nino: Hey!
Alya: Hey!
"You're so funny when you do stuff without thinking," Alya shook her head, amused.
"I don't think," Marinette answered truthfully. "It interferes with being completely crazy."
"Crazy awesome," Adrien grinned.
Nino: What the...?
Ladybug: (takes Nino and Alya to the empty gorilla habitat and locks the cage) Stay put and you'll be safe. (then leaves)
Alya nudged Marinette playfully. "Girl, I'm starting to think you locked the two of us in there on purpose.."
Marinette blushed. "What?! No-I-of course not, it was because I needed a place to hide you two-"
"Together, in a cage?" Nino laughed. "Yeah, I buy it!"
"No seriously, you guys I didn't-"
"Relax, we're just kidding," Alya laughed. "Plus, we owe our relationship to you."
"Yeah, dude!" Nino exclaimed. "Thanks for locking us up in that cage."
Nino: (he looks at Alya) Uhh... Hey, what's up?
Alya (disgusted groan)
"How did you two even start up a conversation?" Adrien grinned.
"Well, first I chewed Nino out for telling Marinette he was in love with me-"
Nino shook his head. "Oh god, that was scary."
"Then..well, we don't have to give you all the details," Alya finished, smirking.
Adrien shrugged. "Suit yourself.."
(Meanwhile, Cat Noir runs away from the animals and goes up a tree.)
Ladybug: There are too many of them! We can't capture them all.
"How did you even get all of them back in the zoo?" asked Alix, mystified.
Marinette frowned. "I..forgot."
"Yeah, remember this was all about a year ago," Adrien reminded them.
Cat Noir: Well, what are we gonna do then?
Ladybug: Back to Plan A. If we can destroy his bracelet, I can capture the akuma. Everything will go back to normal!
"Yes, but how?" Alya frowned.
"You'll see.." Marinette's voice trailed off when Alya glared at her.
"Not again!" she groaned.
Cat Noir: Sounds like a good idea!
(The animals run away from the zoo. Ladybug sees they didn't break her yo-yo)
Ladybug: But it's unbreakable!
Cat Noir: He didn't actually break it. (squats down and he gives the yo-yo back to Ladybug)
Adrien looked confused. "Wait, if it's unbreakable how did it break when we fought Simon Says?"
Marinette shrugged. "I'm guessing it had to do with his powers or something."
Ladybug: Then how did he get away?
Cat Noir: I don't know, but we better find Kim... I mean, that boy, before he does.
"It's hard pretending you don't know anyone, isn't it?" Rose asked.
Marinette laughed. "Believe me, it is. I almost called my parents mom and dad in a bunch of akuma battles."
(Ladybug extends her yo-yo and and Cat Noir spins his staff and they leave the zoo then they retracts their respective tools once they land on a rooftop.)
Cat Noir: Over there!
Ladybug: (sees Animan about to approach Kim)
"That's pretty scary!" Max admitted.
Animan: It's down to just the two of us, Kiddo. (Kim falls) And then there was one. (Animan is about to attack Kim, but Ladybug stops him)
Ladybug: You're not getting away this time!
"You guys are so brave!" Rose gushed. "How do you take on a fully grown panther?"
Cat Noir: (to Kim) Quick, go and hide in the first building you come to. (places a tracker on Kim's back before he runs off)
"I didn't even see that!" Kim exclaimed.
Animan: You'll never get me! (transforms into an eagle and flies away)
"He can just turn into any animal he wants?" Nino asked in surprise. "Woah, that's pretty cool!"
Kim nodded enthusiastically. "I know, right? But it wasn't so fun when he was chasing me.."
Cat Noir: Now we know how we got away earlier.
Ladybug: Where's Kim? (Cat Noir shows his phone is detecting Kim's location) Good job, kitty. (scratches Cat Noir's chin)
"Awwww!" Everyone laughed.
Adrien sighed. "See, you flirted with me too!"
Marinette turned pink. "That's not flirting..it's just-"
Alya snorted. "Um, that is definitely flirting."
"Yeah, totally," Nino agreed.
"I didn't do it on purpose then," Marinette laughed.
"But look how happy Adrien looks," Alix teased.
Adrien bushed. "Well, of course I'm happy..what else did you expect?"
Scene: Bakery.
Kim: Help! Rescue me! Please!
Tom: It's okay, son. Come this way. Easy.
"Your parents are really kind, Marinette," Kim said. "Give them a thanks from me when we get back."
Marinette smiled. "That is, if we ever go back.." Her smile faltered.
"Don't worry, this can't take more than a day or so..right?" Adrien asked, unsurse.
"Our parents must be so worried right now," Alya realized, looking down.
Cat Noir: He's safe inside this building. Panthers can't open doors, so it won't get inside.
Ladybug: Panthers can't, but what if he morphs into a smaller animal? Like a mouse, or…
"That's right, he can turn into anything!" Nino remembered.
Cat Noir: Right. But we do have an advantage over him. We know exactly where to find his prey.
Ladybug: Animan will sniff him out sooner or later, but it's bought us a bit of time to plan our next move.
(A man is seen fixing his car. He sees a bear and runs away.)
Cat Noir: We have to stop Animan before Paris turns into a Jungle.
"Ha! This is even worse then getting overrun by pigeons," Alya snorted. "Actually, wait..no, it's not."
Kim laughed. "I think pigeons are worse."
"Agreed!" Rose exclaimed.
Ladybug: Follow me.
(They enter the bakery)
Ladybug: Hi, mo...am.
"Nice save! I see what you mean now," said Rose. "Imagine if you had called her mom!"
Mylene smiled. "She would have been so surprised."
Marinette laughed. "This happens a lot..good thing nobody ever suspected me."
Alya shook her head. "I still have no idea how you hid that for so long! I mean-especially to your own parents!"
Sabine: Oh, you're... you're, you're Ladybug!
Ladybug: Yeah, exactly.
"Phew. I had panicked there for a second," Marinette said.
Scene: The TVi Newsflash is on the air.
Nadja: We interrupt this broadcast with a special report. Animals are invading Paris. The police work harder trying to contain the situation. For your safety, stay in your home and remain calm. Mayor Bourgeois will address the- (Sabine turns off the TV)
Ladybug: You'll be safe here. Can I borrow this?
Kim: Sure. (gives her his wristband)
"What did you need my wristband for, by the way?" Kim asked.
"It was the thing he was using to sniff you out," Marinette answered. "So that way, it will lead his to us."
"Wow, that's pretty smart!" Kim exclaimed.
(Cat Noir looks at a family photo of Marinette and her parents)
Marinette put a comforting hand on Adrien's shoulder.
Ladybug: Come on, Cat Noir. Make sure you lock all the doors and windows.
Cat Noir: We'll take care of the rest. You won't be in danger.
Ladybug: Thanks Da- I mean, sir, for all your help.
Alya laughed. "Saved again.."
Tom: You're welcome, Ladybug.
(Ladybug and Cat Noir go downstairs. Ladybug puts Kim's wristband on the railing)
Ladybug: Et voila.
Scene: Cat Noir sees the animals are rampaging. Ladybug sprays an air freshener on him.
Cat Noir: Whoa! What's that stuff?
Ladybug: Air freshener! It'll cover up our scent so he can't smell us.
"Wow!" Alix marveled. "I hadn't even thought of that. And isn't Adrien a model? He wears those things anyways.."
Adrien frowned. "No, I don't."
Cat Noir: Thanks. (He sniffs himself) I've always wanted to smell like... Ocean summer breeze? (he sees a small box) Couldn't we capture him inside something like this?
"Won't he just transform into something bigger?" Kim asked.
Ladybug: Only if he transforms into something bigger. (she sees a bus) Would that make a big enough cage?
"A bus? But how will you get him in there?" Nino laughed. "That's crazy."
Marinette smiled. "Animan tires himself out with every transformation, so to trap him it's hard but to keep him in there, it's not."
Cat Noir: Definitely. But how could we get him inside there? (His ears move when Animan is nearby) He's coming!
Nino laughed. "I didn't know you could do that!"
Adrien smiled. "Shows how useful cats are."
"I prefer dogs," Marinette teased.
"I thought you two were getting a hamster," Alix snorted. "Or am I wrong?"
Marinette's cheeks reddened.
"We'll think about that later," said Adrien playfully.
Scene: Animan is flying. He senses the smell and goes directly to the Bakery while Ladybug and Cat Noir hide behind the door.
Ladybug: It's working. He's sniffing out Kim! (Cat Noir sniffs her. She is unamused) Ugh...Follow me.
The class dissolved in laughter.
"Seriously, Adrikins?" Chloe looked like she didn't want to smile, but couldn't help herself.
Marinette crossed her arms across her chest. "You're too much sometimes."
Adrien grinned. "I know.."
(Animan goes directly to the bakery, and turns into a ladybug to enter the keyhole. Ladybug traps him in the box)
"A ladybug?" Alya smiled. "Nice choice."
Ladybug: A Ladybug? Smart choice. (Animan turns into a panther. Ladybug and Cat Noir leave the bakery.)
"Isn't it at least a bit scary to chase a panther around Paris?" Alya asked.
"Yes," Marinette answered honestly. "But we don't exactly have time to worry about that, do we?"
Cat Noir; Couldn't he choose a slower-moving animal?!
"The point is to make it hard for you," said Max.
(Ladybug and Cat Noir enter the bus to hide on opposite sides of the bus. Animan is looking for them and they nod at each other. Ladybug and Cat Noir then surprise him.)
Ladybug: Where's the button for the doors? (presses all the buttons to no avail) Of course nothing works! No keys!
"You should have thought of that before," Chloe rolled her eyes. "Ugh..Queen Bee would have done it SO much faster.."
Marinette had almost forgotten that Chloe was still bitter about the whole Queen Bee thing.
(Animan morphs into a bear and knocks Cat Noir out.)
Everybody winced.
Hawk Moth: Take his Miraculous... The ring! The ring!
"I want to knock him out right now," Adrien clenched his fists.
"Don't we all?" Marinette sighed.
"I mean, it's impossible to have a good life with that guy around," Alya shook her head.
"Agreed," said Mylene. "I can't count how many times he's put everyone in danger.."
(Ladybug gives Cat Noir's staff to him and he knocks Animan out. Animan morphs into a Ladybug, then into a panther.)
Ladybug: All these transformations seem to be tiring him out.
Max scratched his chin. "It's certainly unrealistic for an animal to be able to-"
"It's magic," Chloe snapped.
Cat Noir: Then just let him wear himself out. It'll make it easier to capture his akuma. Cataclysm! (uses his Cataclysm to make all the buttons work. Ladybug and Cat Noir escape the bus, but Animan is trapped inside it. The bus explodes.)
"Nice job, guys! I could have never imagined you would be able to actually trap him in there!" Rose exclaimed in amazement.
Marinette smiled. "Thanks, Rose!"
Ladybug: It's not exactly a cage, but... it'll do. (Animan morphs into a bear)
Kim laughed. "That's perfect!"
Cat Noir: I don't think he can bear to listen to that noise.
Ladybug: You around is too much to bear. Now we wait.
"Not the puns again!" Nino groaned. "I thought we'd gotten a break for a while there.."
Marinette laughed. "With him, you never get a pun break."
"PUNDRIEN FOR LIFE!" Abby yelled form behind the theater.
Adrien grinned. "I will pun forever. And what's Pundrien?"
Everyone shrugged.
(Animan now morphs into a ladybug, then into a gorilla.)
"Why not a huger animal that can bust himself out?" Max frowned.
"He ended up doing that," Adrien told him. "But it's a good thing he didn't think of it sooner…"
Cat Noir: Ready to free the akuma?
(Animan is tired, and morphs into a panther again.)
Ladybug: It's working!
"Nice!"
(Animan morphs into a dinosaur. He comes out of the bus.)
Cat Noir: Hey! Since when do extinct animals count?
Ladybug: The T-Rex might have disappeared a long time ago, but technically it's.. still an animal. (The T-Rex roars)
Everyone gasped and gaped at the screen.
"You had to fight a DINOSAUR? That is so unfair!" Alya yelled. "But they don't even exist!"
Marinette sighed. "Well, it's not like Hawkmoth cares, is it?"
Juleka's eyes were wider than usual. "Woah..that's really cool," she muttered.
"Cool?" Rose looked terrified. "It's a T Rex!"
"I've always wanted to see a T-Rex!" Kim pumped his fist in excitement.
"That big elephant is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous," Chloe scoffed.
Cat Noir: Well, I know some other animals that will soon be extinct... The cat and the ladybug! (Ladybug and Cat Noir escape)
The class laughed even though they all knew they shouldn't be laughing.
Ladybug: Lucky Charm! (throws the Yo-yo into the air and a car jack appears.) Huh? A car jack?
Cat Noir: Too bad Animan doesn't have any flat tires.
"Do you always have to pun?" Marinette groaned. "And I win the bet for this episode."
Ladybug: Look how small his front arms are.
"I sense a plan," Alya laughed.
Max's eyes widened. "That's fascinating! I wonder why it's arms are so small, I need to do an analysis later today-"
"Shut up," said Chloe.
"Chloe!" Marinette chided.
"Sorry, I was getting a headache," Chloe said, not sounding sorry at all.
Cat Noir: So it won't be great at basketball. What are you getting at?
"Basketball?" Alix laughed. "Okay, fine. Sometimes your jokes are a little funny."
Adrien grinned. "I knew it!"
"Don't encourage him..or the cat won't stop purring all night," Marinette teased, smirking.
Ladybug: You climb on top of him where he can't swipe at you, and while you're distracting him, I'll floor him!
"How are you planning to take on a T-REX?" Alya's eyes were wide. "That's a bit dangerous, don't you think."
"Very," Adrien agreed. "But i don't think we had another choice."
Cat Noir: Sounds like a good plan. I can be very distracting.
Everyone rolled their eyes.
Marinette shoved him playfully. "I think I know that already."
"Are you saying you think I'm hot?" Adrien smirked.
"Yeah," Marinette laughed. "You're a smartie, hottie, suavísimo, yummy-tastic spellbinder, remember?"
Adrien's smile was too wide for his face.
(Animan finds them and chases them. Cat Noir stands on top of him. Ladybug pulls him with her yo-yo.)
Ladybug: Well, that's weird, we didn't have to use this. What does it mean?
"It can't mean anything good," Max informed them. "You can't win without your lucky charm, I don't think so."
Marinette nodded. "I don't think we've ever won without my lucky charm."
Cat Noir: Well, I guess that only means we rock as a team.
Adrien and Marinette high fived.
"Best team ever," Marinette laughed.
"The cat and bug team rocks," Adrien agreed.
"You mean the bug and cat team.."
"Whatever you say!"
(Cat goes over to retrieve the bracelet, he just narrowly avoids being chopped in half by Animan's massive teeth.)
Ladybug: Cat Noir, wait! (Animan roars) I know what to do.
Cat Noir: Ladybug!
Ladybug: Enjoy your meal! (Ladybug goes directly to his mouth)
Everyone screamed.
"YOU JUMPED INTO A T-REX'S MOUTH?" Alya's eyes were as wide as saucers.
"Why did you do that, you have no idea how dangerous that was!" Adrien chided. "I could have lost you forever!"
"Yeah, that's so brave but risky!" Nino added.
"I can't believe my BFF jumped into a T Rex's mouth," Alya sighed. "You know, I have a feeling I'm in for a lot of surprises."
"Look. I know it was dangerous," Marinette defended. "But there was no other way!"
"That's really brave of you," Rose marveled.
"Actually, I didn't even think before doing it," Marinette admitted.
Adrien scowled. "Exactly."
Cat Noir: No! You're so gonna pay for this!
Marinette facepalmed. "Did you not see me literally run into the mouth?"
"I was mad!" Adrien defended. "Thanks to Hawkmoth, you could have never come back, for all I know."
Marinette sighed. "Thanks, but I don't just do stuff for no reason."
Adrien raised his eyebrows.
"Fine, maybe sometimes I act without thinking.."
(Cat Noir is horrified as he watches the villain apparently swallow Ladybug whole. He prepares to attack with his stick but he is relieved when he sees her, safe and sound.)
(Ladybug opens Animan's mouth with the car jack. Ladybug picks up his bracelet and breaks its charm. The akuma flies off of it.)
Everyone sighed in relief.
"That is SO amazing!" Alya hugged her best friend. "How much more amazing can you get?"
"Yeah, that must take guts!" Nino exclaimed.
Marinette blushed. "Thanks, guys.."
Ladybug: No more evildoing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize! (catches the akuma with her yo-yo) Gotcha! (releases the akuma, turning it into a normal butterfly) Bye bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug! (Throws the Lucky Charm into the air, its energy turns everything back to normal. Animan is turned back into Otis.) Pound it? (Cat Noir hugs her)
"That is so cute!"
Cat Noir: Ladybug! That was a wild ride. (His Miraculous beeps) Whoops! Better take my whiskers and run!
Ladybug: See you next time, Cat Noir.
Otis: Oh! What happened to me?
Ladybug: Everything's okay. But you should get back to the zoo and check on your animals.
"Thanks for saving my dad, Marinette," Alya winked. "Even if you gagged him with a car jack."
Marinette laughed. "Yeah, sorry about that."
"Oh come on, don't apologize!"
Hawk Moth: You ruined everything, Ladybug. This is not how it was supposed to end! But I promise you, one day it will be me at the top of the food chain! And you'll be nothing!
"First of all, that sounds wrong," Nino said in disgust. "And second, I'm pretty sure a butterfly wouldn't be higher on the food chain than a cat.."
Adrien laughed. "Definitely not."
Scene: Bakery. Ladybug transforms back into Marinette, exhausted.
Marinette: (Her phone rings) Oh no! I forgot all about Alya! She's gonna be so mad at me!
"If I'd known what you just did, then I would have forgotten all about it," Alya admitted.
Tikki: And imagine if she knew you're the Ladybug who shut her up in a cage with Nino!
"Right, I still haven't gotten my revenge on you for that," Alya teased.
Marinette pretended to sigh. "Yes, I can't wait.." They both laughed.
"Next time, I'll lock you up in a cage with Adrien," Alya promised.
"Really?" Adrien's face lit up. "When?"
Marinette shoved him. "Nobody will be locking me in a cage with anyone."
Alya smirked. "Let's see about that."
"Ohh, it's SO on."
Marinette: Yeah, and she'd actually kill me. Guess I'll take "mad", huh. (talking to Alya) Listen Alya, I'm sorry about earlier. I should have never told Nino I set up a date with you. I just wasn't thinking. But I'll explain everything to him, so don't worry. Promise. Do you forgive me? (sees Alya. Both laugh. Nino purchased cookies from the bakery and gives one to Alya)
"I doubt Alya's going to be mad at you," Adrien chuckled. "She's not really the type to hold grudges.."
"Of course not," Alya laughed. "I don't think I've ever stayed mad at someone for more than a day."
Alya: Thanks, Nino.
Nino: Do you want one, Marinette?
Marinette: Uhh...What's he doing here?
"So I can't make casual visits to your bakery for no reason?" Nino teased.
"That's not what I meant!"
Alya: Ladybug locked us up together in the same cage all afternoon.
Nino: It turns out we have lots in common. You know, Marinette, the girl I've got a crush on?
Marinette: Oh, yeah!
Nino: Actually, it was you.
"Nice way to reveal it, dude!" Adrien grinned and patted Nino on the back. "Right after you're gotten rid of your feelings, you spill them to her in front of your new girlfriend."
Nino blushed. "Well, Alya and I weren't dating yet, not technically-"
Alya glared at him.
"I mean yes!" Nino added quickly.
Marinette: Huh?
"That must have come as a surprise," Alix snorted.
Nino: Or that's what I thought. But after chilling with Alya that whole time.
Alya: Yeah, well...we don't have to give her all the deets, do we?

Alya: The funniest part of it was that Nino was being totally coached by Adrien at the zoo!
"That was the most ironic part," Kim laughed as everybody nodded in agreement.

Nino: Alya tells me you've been crushing on some dude.
Alya rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Nino?"

"Simon Says," said Marinette.
Nino looked excited. "Isn't this the time when I participated in that contest?"
"And the day my parents grounded me for saving the city about a gazillion things," Marinette added.
Adrien whistled. "I totally get you."

I've actually been watching Miraculous since the very first episode came out on the very first day. (Yes, it was VERY VERY VERY painful to wait for everything..season 2 took like a year and a half to come out i was so mad) so I didn't know that Gabriel was Hawkmoth before season 2. That way, I had a bunch of theories. I'd always suspected he was hawkmoth ever since the origins, but Simon Says kinda confirmed it cause it was obvious he was hawkmoth. I wonder how we'll make Adrien react to that...hmm, any ideas?
Anyways, hope you liked that chapter. I probably will not update until the day after or maybe even after that.
