Robert knows that he is in trouble and tries to do what Chord taught him about any situation. Try to mentally see your moves before you do it and anticipate your opponents. He thought if there were just two or three maybe he could do that but not with seven to one odds. The leader was talking but he was not listening. He wishes that he had told his grandmother how much he loved her this morning before he left. He thinks about all the mean things he had done to some of this classmates. He always thought that they would be time to make things right.
"Nothing to say, hero? That's almost funny because normally your lot can never shut up. I can guarantee you will be saying something soon."
Just then the overhead windows came crashing down again, but this time in was Night Thrasher. As he lowered himself down from the chopper that Chord was piloting he took out the two closest to Robert. Who seeing his partner gave him a renewed sense of courage as he went into motion with his wrist laser taking out two more of the gunmen.
Thrasher was on the ground and moving so fast it was like watching a blur as he dispatches another person and soon there was one left with the leader. They both begin firing toward him as he dodges there blast. Rocket Racer shots a flare that momentarily blinds both gunmen allowing for Thrasher to take care of them quickly.
Racer wanted to stay but Thrasher hook him up to the grappling hook from the chopper and they both were gone. Once back onboard Robert told both of them how glad he was that they showed up when they did. After Dwayne made sure that Robert was not hurt, he had some choice words for his young ward.
"What were you thinking running off like that without telling one of us what was going on?'
"I didn't think it would be anything. Besides you, both had been so busy with Madam Choas and not including me in. I was going crazy, I had to get out and do something. But like I said once I got this lead my plan was to follow it through and then go back to get you."
"All that sounds good, but the first thing you said is what has me upset. You didn't think. We have been over this before, how you are supposed to be my partner which means we work and train together. I have told you before that you are not ready to go out solo. It was a good thing that Chord has trackers on both of our uniforms or we would not have had any idea of where you were."
"Wait a minute, you put a tracker on me without telling me about it?"
"It was for your protection. Besides like I said I have one too."
"The difference is you knew about it and I didn't. Wow, for the first time I think I finally understand. This is not about me going off on my own. This is about you not trusting me. I have done everything you and Chord have ask me to do. Yet you still don't trust me."
Dwyane goes on trying to prove his point but he sees the eye that Chord gave him and decides to let it go. The rest of the copter ride was quiet as all three just sat quietly.
Things had not gone as plan with all the guns in the city. Tombstone left New York to start fresh in this city. He had already met Madam Choas and he wasn't sure if he could trust her or not. But he was sure that he could get this gun-running operation going but here was his old problem. Mask freaks putting their noses where they don't belong. He had enough of this problem. He decided to make a call back to New York and arrange for some assistants to take care of these upstart heroes in Detroit.
He was used to dealing with Spider-Man and Daredevil the top-notch superheroes, not these B grades mask clowns. If he was not trying to keep a low profile he would give this problem a more personal touch. But he was not ready to reveal to the City of Detroit that he was even in town. No, this problem requires someone with stealth, but that could be trusted to get the job done quickly and easily. He smiled to himself as he waited for an answer on the other line. Once the ringing stop there was no noise on the other end of the phone. But he knew who was there. An old associate of his that might like to restart his own career.
"Bullseye I have a job for you in Detroit."
