Stay healthy everyone!
As Elsa is locked away in the dungeon once more, Anna has been forced to flee once more. With the two sisters divided, the future seems bleak with icy hearts gaining more cracks. Perhaps a rock troll can help mend them…
Kristoff's POV
I have only recently explained the situation to Grand Pappie when Anna and Olaf arrive in the valley. Feeling relieved, I turn to see the princess and immediately can tell that the rescue failed. Despite Anna's hunched shoulders, she walks with a clear sense of purpose.
Reminds me of Elsa, actually….
Noticing her arrival, trolls gradually grow silent as I rush to her side. I look her over concerned.
"Are you hurt? What happened?"
Anna's face is dark and she doesn't look at me.
"I only made things worse for her, Kristoff."
I freeze.
Her voice is so…devoid of emotions. It's so unlike my girlfriend's regular sunny tone. I swallow.
"What do you mean?"
She suddenly lunges at me and I stumble back slightly at the force. Anna is hugging me tightly, her face buried against my chest. She's quiet for a moment before finally speaking quietly.
"She's even more confused now, Kristoff…I…I think she's getting worse."
Her grip tightens.
"Hans now knows I'm not frozen in his garden and he's probably done something awful to Elsa now."
I'm having trouble processing everything.
"Hold up, his garden? What do you-"
Anna pulls back suddenly glaring up at me.
"That's not important! Elsa is in danger!"
Her whole body sinks slightly.
"And it's all my fault, again." She says quietly.
I notice her eyes are watering and she looks almost defeated.
After a moment, I finally recover enough and hug the strawberry blond just as tightly as she is hugging me.
"I'm so sorry, Anna."
After a moment I continue.
"You know, I don't think Elsa would think it's your fault. You've been only to help her, no one can blame you for that."
She shifts slightly in my arms.
"On top of all that, I left her behind for a second time. With Hans of all people", She mumbles into my tunic.
I sigh rubbing her back gently.
"We'll get her back, Anna. I promise." I say softly.
I want to say more but someone clears their throat behind me. We turn around to see my mother, Bluda. The troll smiles gently to Anna walking up.
"Let's find you some nice moss to rest on, dear."
Anna lets go of me looks confused as she uses her arm to wipe her face."
"But, we need to talk with Grand Pabbie." She says.
I gently place a hand on her shoulder.
"I already did. Grand Pabbie said it's going to take some time. He retreated with the water and hasn't come back yet. So all we can do is wait."
Anna is quiet for a moment before sighing looking downtrodden.
"Okay."
Bulda takes her hand, effectively making Anna have to bend down to walk. The troll glances back at me and I give her an appreciative smile before turning to Sven. Olaf is giggling as he pets Sven and I walk over and crouch down.
"Okay Olaf, tell me everything you know happened while you two were out there."
Hans POV
I watch as the servants carefully lift the portrait onto the wall. My frown deepens. I should be happy. I should be proud of what I've accomplished. I should be smiling at the new royal portrait that includes me.
But I'm not.
No, instead I am livid. Anna is still alive and with Elsa down in the dungeon, I can't have her make more swords. I was semi-pleased to find the finished swords in her room after I locked her away, but we still need more. I sigh as one servant directs the others to straighten the frame.
I'm disappointed.
I was really beginning to think Elsa was ready. I almost actually trusted her. How foolish of me. Speaking of Elsa, I need to bring her healing water. I've decided to double her intake of it to be on the safe side, even though I think the necklace is doing its job well enough. I turn away and head down the stairs to the dungeon. Each step I take is colder than the last. I frown. I wanted to control Elsa's powers, but the bursts of ice have only increased. Eventually, I start to see my breath the farther down I go.
Why can't she just contain it to her cell so the rest of us don't have to feel it?
I stop at the bottom of the stairs and the guard on duty scrambles to stand. I wait unimpressed before holding out the bowl of porridge and goblet of healing water.
"Make sure the princess eats and drinks all of this." I order calmly.
The guard nods with a quick bow before taking the provisions. I turn to head back up the stairs when his voice stops me.
"Your highness? She...she's been asking for you again."
He pauses, clearly hesitant.
"Perhaps you can see her -"
I hold up a hand not bothering to look back.
"I have important matters to attend to. My sister needs to learn her place."
It's silent for a moment before he responds.
"Yes, Prince Hans."
With that, I continue up the stairs. I have no doubt the little ice witch could hear me.
Perhaps that will convince her to never double-cross me again.
Feeling returns to me as I make it back to the main floor, and I breathe out feeling comfortable in the warmth. I pause and finally smile just a little at the sight of the portrait. The Anna-less portrait. I commissioned a few special portraits to be redone that simply shows me in Anna's place. However, this one was a unique one. This one was one of the late king and queen, posing with Elsa and I. It wasn't too difficult to procure as one might imagine. The king has a hand on my shoulder looking proud and regal, meanwhile, the queen has a gentle hand on the side of Elsa's arm. I ordered it to be placed near the front hall, where everyone can see it upon entry. If Anna was to foolishly return, I'd bet all of Arendelle that she would be crushed to see this.
And that...finally makes me smile.
Diana John – Sorry for the long wait. I did indeed see your comment. I appreciate it greatly. I do plan to get back into writing this more regularly again.
Thanks for all of the comments of encouragement! I know I can't apologize enough. I hope this is a start though.
