Scene 21
"Kaiya? " a voice poked through the air.
Kaiya looked back as she walked the streets of Konoha village.
She had actually just purchased some flowers to put in Kakashi's apartment as a little surprise.
Kakashi secretly really liked flowers.
The voice was Sakura, however.
Kaiya and Sakura never talked very much, but Sakura held a lot of respect for Kaiya.
She dreamed of seeing Kaiya's skills as a kunoichi.
"Sakura! What's up?" Greeted Kaiya.
Team Yamato had just returned back to the village from their mission.
Sakura blushed and then grew sad.
"We saw Sasuke…" she said quietly.
Kaiya knew how Sakura felt about Sasuke.
When Sakura was younger, she disliked Kaiya a little due to Sasuke admiring Kaiya instead.
"You still love him, don't you Sakura?" asked Kaiya.
Sakura gasped but then nodded.
"I can only talk to Naruto about missing Sasuke. But he doesn't understand how Sasuke leaving affected my heart."
"I understand Sakura.' reassured Kaiya. 'More than you know actually."
"Really? Have you loved someone before? I mean you have Kakashi." Sakura was curious.
Kaiya blushed a little but then looked at her flowers.
The two girls sat down at the riverside on a bench.
"Did Sasuke ever mention how I knew him?" asked Kaiya.
Sakura shook her head, "I thought he met you when I did?"
Kaiya shook her head no. "I was really good friends with his brother Itachi actually."
Sakura gasped.
"In fact,' Kaiya gulped, 'I think I loved him too, but I was only thirteen and didn't notice until he left."
Sakura sighed, "Sasuke is pretty similar to Itachi when you compare to two leaving the village."
Kaiya nodded with a slight chuckle.
"Don't tell Sasuke that though."
Sakura chuckled too.
The two were silent or a moment until Sakura asked quietly.
"Kaiya, if you were to see Itachi again, would you forgive him? I know he's part of the Akatsuki and after Naruto. But…"
This was something only Kaiya and Sakura could talk about.
Itachi betrayed the village.
Sasuke betrayed the village.
They couldn't talk like this with anyone else.
The brothers were criminals in anyone else's eyes.
Kaiya didn't reply at first, deep in thought.
The last time Kaiya saw Itachi she said she hated him.
When really she was just sad and lost.
Kaiya didn't want him to leave again.
"To be honest Sakura, I don't know. I think I want answers more so though. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss him."
Sakura nodded, "I really miss Sasuke."
"I know sweetie" Kaiya hugged Sakura.
After Kaiya and Sakura parted ways, Kaiya began to think to herself.
She honestly never had anyone to talk about Itachi to.
Not even her therapist would understand.
Itachi was a well-known criminal in the Village.
Kaiya stalled going to Kakashi's though.
Her mind was stuck in the past.
"Your mother's cooking is really good Itachi." smiled Kaiya as Itachi walked her home.
"Is it? I'm used to it. But I'll let her know. She really liked you." smiling back.
They were quiet for a good chunk of their walk.
But it was Itachi who broke the silence by grabbing Kaiya's hand.
Kaiya gasped and blushed.
Itachi hid his blushing but didn't let go of Kaiya's hand.
They walked hand in hand until they got to Kaiya's apartment.
Kaiya was blushing, "Well I guess this is goodnight then."
They both stood in front of the door.
Itachi scratched the back of his neck. "Right, goodnight," he mumbled.
Kaiya nodded and began to open the door when Itachi surprised her by pulling her into a kiss.
The two both gasped.
"Ahh, I sorry!" apologized Itachi embarrassed, "I didn't mean to, I just…."
Kaiya didn't know what to say. "It's…" she began.
The pause worried Itachi.
"It's okay." Kaiya finished. "It's okay.
Itachi felt his heart give a sigh and smiled.
"I really like you Kaiya, I hope you accept my feelings."
Kaiya stared at him blushing, she didn't know what to say and before she could Itachi said goodbye and disappeared into smoke.
That was the last time Kaiya saw Itachi before he killed the Uchiha clan.
