MUJŌNA
Nise kneeled over the sleeping Mitsuri, whose transformation was now complete. Mitsuri now sported bright pink markings on her face and neon green nails. The fallen slayer was now a demon, but couldn't walk under the sun. Muzan and Mujōna had removed their sun-repellent qualities of their blood.
Such a pretty demon. I wonder what her eyes look like. Oh, well.
"Gādo, escort her to one of the suites," Nise said. The guard from earlier obliged and slung her across his shoulder.
Once he was gone, Nise heaved a sigh of relief. She stood up and groaned softly as her body began to revert to its natural state; Mujōna Kibutsuji.
'Kamabisushii, take me to my bedroom.'
'Yes, My Queen.'
The walls and floors shifted and seconds later, she was standing in front of her bedroom's shoji. She opened it and found Muzan levitating above their bed, staring at the royal coffered ceiling.
"Mitsuri submitted," she said. Mujōna then magically made a bath be drawn for her. She stripped and submerged herself under the aromatic, steaming waters.
"Two down, ten to go," Muzan exasperatedly sighed.
Mujōna lifted her head and glared at him. "You're not thinking of backing out of this, are you?"
"I am. Because of this plan, we now have a bigger target on our backs."
"You can't be serious about blaming this on me. Before I even knew you existed, you already had many altercations with the slayers. You created that 'Anti-Muzan' Fanclub on your own!"
"I'm not blaming you for anything. Truthfully, I shouldn't have let it get this far. I should've stood my ground and did it my way," he said.
"And what way is that?"
"Killing them."
"That would do nothing but turn them into martyrs. How will we conquer the world and keep the humans compliant if we go around killing everyone?" she hissed. Suddenly, she started to feel lightheaded.
Sensing her discomfort, Muzan said, "Mujōna, I'm not arguing with you any longer."
"Because you can't admit that I'm right. You have too much pride, Muzan!"
"Or maybe I don't want to stress my pregnant mate. I'll soon return," he said. Muzan grabbed one of his many coats and left.
MUZAN
Muzan teleported to the human realm and walked through a forest. He needed to clear his mind because Mujōna's antics were stressing him out.
I cannot let this continue. Her behavior is taking a toll on her health, which affects our child. Fuck, why did I let this masquerade go this far?
The Demon Lord was frustrated because he chose her to be his counterpart, but her pregnancy was obstructing everything.
Muzan was elated that she could conceive; although he's The Father of Demons, he always wanted a child of his own, but he had already convinced himself that it was impossible. Then suddenly, he was soon to be an actual father. It was still a lot for him to take in.
Muzan inhaled deeply as he felt the cool, night breeze against his face. The full moon stared back at him, shrouded behind misty clouds. He had smelled his prey earlier and camouflaged himself.
Seconds later, a young woman walked into the forest, following a dirt path on her way down a hill. In her hands were scholarly books and a purse was strapped along her back. The girl was unaware that a murderous demon was eyeing her, ready to strike.
{Rustle.}
The young woman quickly turned her head to the direction of the sound. Unfortunately for the her, she didn't realize that the sound was merely a distraction.
Suddenly, a sharp tentacle shot out from the left, impaling the woman's side. She gasped at the sudden, piercing sensation, her blood squirting like a fountain. She fell to the ground, tumbling down the medium sized hills.
When she reached flat ground, she found that she couldn't move; her bones were broken from the fall. As she hemorrhaged, her vision became fuzzier and a silhouette of a man appeared. The silhouette came closer, revealing a pale, handsome face.
In her state of grogginess, the man standing over her looked like an angel. Then she saw the demonic, crimson eyes he had. She was too weak to scream, so she laid silent.
As Muzan plunged his fangs into her neck, the woman felt her lifeforce draining. The unbearable agony began to fade, her body going numb.
Muzan was indifferent; he continued to feed, devouring her flesh. Moments later, the woman finally died. After draining her corpse of all of her blood, he then consumed her corpse whole.
With his bloodlust sated, Muzan went to a nearby river and washed his face. When he was done, he gazed at his reflection in the water and pondered.
I'm going to become a father to an actual child; a child that I helped create. Could it be that this is the organic life I've yearned for? No, my child cannot be warfare, and neither can Mujōna. This is my… family.
As he stared at his reflection, a memory that he had locked away a long time ago appeared. For a split second, Muzan saw his mother staring back at him in the water.
Startled, he struck the reflection and darted away from the river.
No, not again! I can't let these ghosts overcome me.
The cells within Muzan's multiple brains began altering his memories, expunging particular ones. The demon had done this one time before, which was centuries ago. Muzan falling in love and expecting a child reinvigorated lost memories from his past.
Once he had finished altering his memories and composed himself, Muzan left the human realm.
NODOKA
Nodoka hadn't accompanied her Queen for almost two days; she missed being by her side dearly. As she waited to be called upon, she kept herself preoccupied by growing accustomed to her new demonic abilities. The meteor hammer was her weapon of choice and she could do a variety of demonic attacks with it.
As she fervently practiced in a simulation, she sensed someone behind her. Nodoka continued training as her eyes moved to see behind her. Meters away stood the silhouette of a tall, male figure.
She continued practicing as if nothing was happening, but kept her senses alert.
Then, Nodoka heard light footsteps coming closer and saw who it was out of the corner of her eye. A tall, six-eyed demon who looked to be a samurai stood far away from her, watching her. He had a blank, unreadable expression on his face.
Nodoka then remembered that he was the silent demon who magically appeared when she and Mujōna had left the human realm.
Who is he?
His intense gaze made her slightly on edge, but she could manage. Sensing that he was still watching her minutes later, she paused. She stood frozen, her eyes still looking at him.
After what seemed like eternity, the six-eyed demon turned and left.
Nodoka finally exhaled, relieved that he was gone. She dropped her meteor hammer to the ground and sighed deeply.
Why was he staring at me for so long?
Composing herself, Nodoka picked up her weapon and continued training.
MITSURI
Mitsuri groggily awakened to find herself in an unfamiliar room. She leaped off the bed and took in her surroundings, realizing that she was in an opulent bedroom. Mitsuri calmed herself and relaxed.
This is lovely, but where am I?
Feeling the urge to explore, she opened the sliding door, which lead to a luxurious bathroom. She ran to the golden clawfoot tub and admired its beauty. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flection in the mirror and gasped at the sight.
In the mirror stood a girl who looked like Mitsuri, but was obviously a demon. She had demonic green eyes and a small horn jutted from her forehead. Her claws were pitch black and a pink heart marking sat upon her cheek.
"Oh my God, I'm actually a demon!" she exclaimed in horror.
'Queen Mujōna would like a word with you.'
Mitsuri winced at the unknown voice in her mind. Suddenly, she felt the urge to leave the bedroom. She ran into the hallway and watched in horror as the walls and floors began to shift and turn. Her body moved against her will, bursting into a sprint down the grand hallway.
Once she reached the end of the hallway, a grand regal door stood before her. It opened on its own and revealed a large throne chamber.
Sitting in one of the thrones was a beautiful woman who looked like the epitome of royalty. Her hair was tied in a large bun and she had an unreadable expression on her face.
Mitsuri then realized that the woman looked a lot like the demon she met earlier.
Nise?
Beside the woman sat two demons. Mitsuri recognized one as Nakime but didn't know who the other one was. He had hair the color of snow and three eyes, two of them closed. He stood near a large gong.
"Mitsuri Kanroji," the woman said. The way she said her name made Mitsuri tremble.
"Y-yes?"
The beautiful woman sighed and rolled her eyes. "I am Mujōna Kibutsuji, Queen of Demons. You may only address me as Queen Mujōna and such. You may not utter or even think about saying the name of my mate. You will only address him as That Man or Your Majesty. Do you understand?"
Unsure how to handle all of the influx of rules, Mitsuri nodded.
I hope Obanai is okay…
"Your beloved Obanai is fine, Mitsuri," Mujōna said. She stared at the girl with a knowing smile.
"Really, he's okay?" Mitsuri sobbed, her eyes welling with tears.
Mujōna sighed deeply. "Yes, he's fine. Now, get a hold of yourself and stop whining. You're a demon now."
Realizing her current situation, Mitsuri wiped her eyes and calmed herself.
"T-thank you for not hurting him. W-when will I see him again?" she whimpered.
"Whenever I see fit. From now on, you'll either be locked in your quarters or training. If you disobey any of our commands, you will be punished severely. Now, leave!" Mujōna boomed.
The floors under Mitsuri shifted and she fell into darkness. Seconds later, she was back in her bedroom. She shakily sat on her bed and breathed heavily.
I'm alive and okay, but also a demon. Oh, Obanai, I hope I did the right thing…
She stared at her black claws in wonder. Being a demon had its perks; she had much more energy and was immortal. Yet, she felt a pang of sadness in her heart.
I don't want to hurt any humans! I don't want to be here! Will the Demon Slayers accept me? Will they consider me as a traitor? Will Obanai still love me?
Her mind rambled nonstop, causing her to have a headache. Minutes later, the fallen slayer burst into tears.
