Chapter 27

Due to waking up at 7AM every morning for the past 6 weeks, Dillon's body naturally wakes him up at 7AM. Usually, Granite was the one waking them up, so Dillon had gotten out of the habit of setting an alarm. He looks at his surroundings and realizes he is in his room...in Cerulean City. The events of last night fly back to him. Aurora, Granite, and him had arrived at the Pokemon Center at around 11:30PM. Dillon checked in his pokemon and told his traveling companions that he would be going home for the night. Aurora and Granite were happy for him and told him they would meet up with him at the Pokemon Center at noon.

Dillon then made his way to the gym. He would've taken the back door closer to the living quarters, but he noticed his mom's office light was still one. The teen was surprised when his mother kept on telling him to leave, but he later realized, by her tight hug, she must've thought he was someone else.

Anyway, Dillon gets up and changes. He walks down the stairs to grab a bowl of cereal when he hears a spoon hit the table. Dillon looks over and sees his mother at the table with Amy, and Amy's spoon on the table. He can't help but feel the corners of his mouth tilt upward. "What?" he asks her teasingly.

"What- When- Huh-?" Amy stammers. Dillon shrugs and grabs a bowl. He fills it up with cereal and milk while Amy continues trying to form coherent sentences. As Dillon sits down with them at the table, he pecks his mom on the cheek and then starts eating. Amy continues to look at him confused, like she can't believe he is real.

Misty places his pokenav and a pokedex on the table. Now it's Dillon's turn to give the confused look. "You'll need your pokenav to call me. And this pokedex is from Uncle Gary. You need it to be a trainer." she shoots in a sharp look. "Without it, pokemon training is illegal."

The boy sweatdrops and smiles sheepishly. "Ha. Thanks, mom." And he goes back to eating his cereal. Amy and Misty look at Dillon in shock. Did he just thank someone? "Oh. Uh. I don't know if mom told you yet, but pretend like I'm not here." Dillon tells Amy.

"Why are you talking so much?" his sister asks him.

"Uh. Cuz I can?" he retorts.

Amy continues looking at her brother with wide eyes. "Ash Ketchum is your dad." She says.

Dillon gives her an annoyed look, "He's not my dad."

Amy nods. "Okay. It's really him."

"Amy, stop bothering your brother and eat your breakfast. You shouldn't be late for school." Misty scolds while sipping her tea.

The young girl sticks her tongue out at Dillon. "Fine. I'll keep your presence a secret. Stay out of fights." Amy tells him referring to his scarred lip and eyebrow from Kaz.

She finishes her last bite of cereal, washes the dish and grabs her backpack to walk out the door, but Dillon stops her, "Thanks." He says. She turns around real quick and studies him again. He just thanked her. And that's the second time he's thanked someone today! And it's not even 8AM yet!

"Go, Amy." Misty warns, and the girl knows well enough to listen the first time to her mother. After Amy leaves, Misty looks at Dillon. "What have you been doing these past 2 months?" She asks him.

He sighs. "It's a long story."

"The gym can wait." she tells him. Dillon smiles and proceeds to tell his mother a brief synopsis about his journey so far, including the fight with Kaz since she kept asking about his face. "So I'm guessing you and Aurora are going to challenge me for my badge?" Misty smirks.

Dillon smiles enthusiastically, "Yeah, mom. Don't go easy on us because we won't be going easy on you!"

"Good. I wouldn't have it any other way!" Misty beams. She notices it is 9:15AM. "I'm going to open up the gym. You know where to find me if you need me." she tells him. She kisses Dillon's forehead. "Oh and I took care of the house arrest thing." Misty says before leaving for the gym. Dillon smiles and washes the dishes. By the time he is done, it is 9:30AM.

"Time to call Uncle Gary." he thinks to himself. Dillon heads to the family's videophone and dials the lab. A few rings later, an assistant picks up. "Uh. I'm looking for the professor." Dillon says awkwardly.

"The professor is busy. May I ask who's calling?" the assistant asks.

Dillon takes a breath. "Tell him it's Dillon Ketchum." After hearing the last name, the assistant's eyes light up and he quickly rushes off to get Gary. A few moments later, Gary is on the screen.

"Heya Dillon! I'm glad to be hearing from you!" Gary smiles.

Dillon looks away awkwardly. "Hey Uncle Gary. I wanted to apologize about taking a pokemon from you. And breaking that door."

To Dillon's surprise, Gary starts laughing. "Oh Dillon! That's just too funny. I've watched that security tape many times, especially when I need a laugh." Gary catches his breath. "Anyway, I don't accept your apology." Dillon looks at the professor shocked. Before the boy can ask why, Gary answers, "The way I see it, I've owed you a pokemon as soon as you turned 15. So that Pikachu is yours. Also, the door thing is my fault. I need to start putting certain crazy pokemon in their pokeballs or in the field. Anyway, that wild Bayleef is your dad's so I'm not surprised it tackled the door down." Gary beams at the boy.

Dillon smiles back, and now it is Gary's turn to look surprised. "Thanks Uncle Gary. I promise you, I'm taking good care of Pika and my other pokemon. And thanks for the pokedex."

Gary is shocked by the amount of words, and kind words, coming out of his nephew's mouth. "Uh. You're welcome, Dillon." Gary looks off screen for a moment. "Okay. I have to go now! But call me any time, Dillon!" He smiles at the boy.

"By, Uncle Gary." Gary waves and the call ends.
